10. University of Nigeria Nsukka
|
I had been working on a university project for a few hours when I had cause to go through the university’s website. As the home page opened, I was once again awed by the magnificent appeal this (foreign) university’s website impressed on me. At that instant I thought of going through websites of notable Nigerian universities – federal and private – to see how they compare to this university. The outcome of my adventure into this rigorous process of website-checking for all the 30+ top Nigerian universities surveyed, shocked me to my marrows. I was totally disappointed to see how poorly represented Nigerian public universities are on their websites even when compared to lower ranked universities abroad. Most of them had sites that were not even worthy of being called blogs. A notable trend though, was that private universities had better branding compared to the bulk of their public university counterparts, even though most of them didn’t rank as highly on league tables. A common problem amongst these “top” universities was that they had tabs on their sites that were unresponsive. Moreso, with most of the universities, it’s almost difficult to find anything regarding the research or academic activities of faculty/ students on the websites (isn’t that supposed to be the core of a university's existence?). In an age where computer science and ICT has become more accessible to any and everyone, and considering the funds at the disposal of some of these universities, one is forced to ask why a simple sophisticated website is hard to achieve. Following my exploration, I have compiled a list of the universities with the best websites based on my observation. Since this is subjective, you might disagree between two closely ranked universities, but the difference becomes clear if you try to compare the 1st and 7th university’s websites for instance. This ranking is different from most others because the aim is not solely to make one university feel superior to another, but (hopefully) to awaken Nigerian institutions to the fact that their websites are viewed by a global audience, and the least they can do is to bring them up to the standard of what top universities should have. The major criteria used in this ranking is “First impression”. That feeling of awe you have when you open up John Hopkins https://www.jhu.edu/, Yale or Imperial University’s websites.

s3nn2x:Thanks man. I'm glad you found it useful! |

Finally reject mail for an application made in 2014 comes in the mail. Wheew! |

So I stumbled on a 2015 Nigerian scholar's article regarding the Chevening application scheme, I think it will be useful to us applying this year. Best of luck people! https://club340./2015/09/09/chevening-and-…cation-process/ |

![]() benedima1990:It's at times like this I wish Nairaland had a thumb down icon. |
padfoot:Actually it's peeps like him that should be getting awards like "leadership award" or "Icon 360" cos anyone can start a thread but only a few can keep one alive for appx 75 years (pages, hehe). At some point I even had suspicions he was a covert student affairs staff (still do, lol) . Well done Bro, very good initiative! |
Cgpa first year - 4.76/5. Graduated 4.45/5. Mechanical Engineering. #ProudlyHebronite |
Sagamite how is Durham perceived by employers in Nigeria? Compared to it's high reputation in the UK very few Nigerians seem to have heard of the school ![]() |
The above list is independent of that of Webometrics ranking which is set to be released today. |
Both 4iCU and Webometrics have released the July edition of their rankings. A very interesting trend is observed across both rankings, the leading Nigerian universities remained in the top 5 spots across both rankings while there was some variation towards the latter part of the lists. Covenant university remained in the top 3 across both rankings retaining it's title as the best private university in Nigeria. See more details below. 4iCU [Released c. Growingboi:If you lost your token, you should be able to request for a new one from the bank. Frankly, I'm not sure of how you should proceed from this point but I'd expect that your bank would be able to help you sort everything out. |
Growingboi:To get the i-pin, you go to any atm machine (preferably that of your bank), click on change pin then select i-pin. Obviously, by now you'll be unable to progress with the online payment option. What i did was to use my second gmail account to start afresh. This is a better option than waiting for 5 days after which your desired date may have been fully booked (btw the old account will still expire in 5 days so there'll be no data clash. It's more like a win-win) |
DangotePikin:Never thought I would comment until I read this part. CU/Private school haters make sure you scored above 301/400 and more than 8A1s in WAEC before coming to spew your irritating vermin about this guy's or CU's credibility on this thread. Btw, six straight As in IGCSE would have landed this guy interviews (and possibly offers) at Cambridge and Oxford if he chose to obtain his BSc in the UK. #CURocks #Fact |
MacMaster01:So which was your first ![]() |
DatguyTim:lol, I doubt if anyone can score 301 with such a pasttime...*hehehe* |
Judeoxide:Thanks a lot your prescription was very effective. Hair just turned black and has remained that way. Thanks to Ebony ![]() |
Judeoxide:oh okay. Just checked Kaymu, appears it sells for N180. Would let him know. Thanks ![]() PS: Just to be sure, should he just apply it and rinse? (For how long should he leave it on?) |
Could'nt stop laughing when I stumbled on this screenshot of one my favorite series, "Everybody Hates Chris". ![]()

So I know this guy who died his hair using Ozone relaxer and now the hair is brown. The problem now is that he has been keeping the Afro for sometime now so cutting it is not an option. Do you advice him to dye the hair? If so which type of dye (name of brand and price) is recommended? |
basil123:I think what OP meant was that candidates should be anonymous in sharing such information. I think the idea of using monikers on nairaland takes care of that. |
Xcely:The OP has a point. The truth is that if you really want to get a job with a 2:2 degree, saving N6000 to contact a prospective employer or HR via LinkedIn directly, is worth the risk. Sometimes we just don't know how to cut down on lavish expenses (expensive phones, clothes & accessories) to make the right sacrifices that count. |
club340:Deeply insightful. Truly "The Exam" has many lessons about what could transpire in an interview/aptitude test setting. One of my best from Hollywood ![]() |
i ate some pie.... and it was delicious The key lies in translating the mathematical terms |
Humblega:If I were you, I'll just relax cos they always get in touch. However, you can be proactive and contact them via email. Dont even bother calling BC, that number doesnt work |
Really? Congrats then! |
