While I cannot really say much about the state of infrastructure in ABJ, as a resident I can say that the nature of power supply has improved tremendously. In the last one week, there has been less than 10 hours of power outage where I live (there are 168 hours in a week) and that is somewhat commendable for a developing capital city for me. This is compared to the epileptic nature of power supply in the past. |
Who says education is not important? First of all, am sure the the person who made the comment has a house- a product of education, a handset(or even an Ipod, laptop, )- products of education and possibly a car - another product of education. Its true that without education you can achieve a lot, but there's a limit to which that can take you. The difference between a mechanic and an automotive engineer is Education, the difference between an untrained draftsman and an architect is education. In today's society it is well obvious that education is a major driving force, so i really don't see how dropping out of school becomes an option not to talk of an alternative. And with reference to the issue aforementioned, I happen to be a student of Covenant University- a non-profit Private University, and even though we have high numbers of 1st class students, we still have a high percentage of 2:1 grades and 2:2 grades. Moreover, those with 1st class results didn't just sit down doing nothing and have those grades come their way. I happen to be an insider and I can tell you that a lot of serious work is done on the part of students coupled with the way things are done here for instance, there are no cases of harassment from lecturers or any of those things that are paramount in most conventional uni's like out of scheme tests and exams by lecturers to make sure students don't get high grades and consequently good results. So its good you try to get all sides of a story before you make any conclusions on private schools and their performances. We suffer a lot from single stories in this part of the world ![]() |
Covenant University has proved to be the best in all ramifications. I can tell you this because i am a student there.Just this year alone it has bagged alot of awards including being the BEST ICT DRIVEN UNIVERSITY IN WEST AFRICA 2010 |

A man comes to a supermarket to buy some items. While selecting the items he wanted,he observes the accountant and admires the speed and accuracy with which the accountant totals the cost of items purchased by customers,he's then prompted to ask him"hello fellow, what makes you so smart" the accountant replies "i eat a lot of fish heads, thats what." the man then asks "how much does a fish head cost?"the account. replies "4$ per head", the man then orders for a dozen number of fish heads. A week later he comes back complaining "helo man, i ate so many fish heads over the week yet i don't seem to be any brigther" the man then replies" take 4 dozens this time".he goes home with 48 fish heads well packaged, only for him to come back in a week's time ranting and raging "Man you told me a fish head cost 4$ per head, and i have been buying it at that rate all the while, only for me to discover it sold for 1$ per head" the accountant simply turns smiles and says"You see you've become smart !" ![]() |

In recent times, the worms of corruption have eaten so deep into nigeria's educational sector, leaving it a spitting ground for other countries with educational systems far developed than ours. Ironically, the lead heads of our educational sector are encouraging the growth of this economical disease which has spread into the educational sector.i believe its quite shocking to know that today, an average of over 1.5million high school graduates all over Nigeria keep writing post_UME exams every year, now over 45% of this pop. do not have it as their fault but are rather suffering in the wallows of frustration as a result of the prejudice which this educational bodies direct towards their candidates every year.i couldn't just comprehend a story a friend of mine told me sometime ago, in his story he said that he had finished his SSCE four years ago and continued to get 240 and above in his UME exams from the year 2005 till 2007 when he scored 265 as an engineering student. delaying his admission into the university. So many other Nigerians are in far worse situations than his.Truely our educational system is dieing.Fellow nairalanders, i need your opinons about this issue. ![]() |
what if you just discovered it some months into marriage and with a pregnancy for the matter?this is no story it happened. |
Someone just asked a very nasty question about parallel relationships. what are your views? |
Please i don't get it,everyone is either criticizing the lecturer or siding this guy.i don't see either of the both as genuine.I believe that its only when you are tripping or like someone in return that you would like to say it openly. In this guy's case though, his looking for advice from fellow nairalanders but it appears he himself has a crush for his lecturer whatever take care.To fellow nairalanders happy new year in advance. |
I also had the math problem during my latter junior schooldays but after my junior WAEC i asked my sister(who was in art )to teach me the intro of maths in ss1 and then the rest was practice and self given tests tht sometimes did not end well but by the time i got to ss3 i even had a 97 in addiditional math placing me first in one of the most competitive schools in nigeria.this was someone that once had a 30 in ordinary math.my WAEC came out with an A1 and neco C5 in math.everything said still comes down to the same point; inconsistent practiceand determination even if it means denying sleep.Who knows you might just end up a math proffessor, coz once you begin to know math, you become addicted to solving it. |
Well, i don't really know much about Madonna but as for covenant("convenant"?), its rated as one of the first 15 in Nigeria and the whole of Africa.Rendered lectures, Facilities and equipments used in covenant are just what any serious minded person needs to stand shoulder to shoulder with foreign counterparts. All this talk about restrictions and other slanders need not arise.covenant is meant for serious minded people.Even this talk about people with inadequate requirements is not necessary,as long as you want to read whether you've got a 170 or 350 in JAMB or 9A1s or 6D's in WAEC or NECO, if money and discipline is what is required for you to come out tops, what else are you looking for from a university? The same covenant that is so slandered, produced a student who a perfect score of 1600/1600 in GRE exams. How many universities in Nigeria can deliver such quality teaching and tutorship to a student to get such a mark? ![]() |
i heard the admission list has been released, is it possible to gain admission with a score of 184 mech. eng? ![]() |
