A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital has ordered the State Commissioner of Police to arrest of former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Temitope Aluko over alleged perjury.
Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye gave this order today, upon a Motion Ex-parte number MAD/10cm/2016, filed by the Ekiti State Government against Mr Aluko and the State Commissioner of Police, pursuant to Section 117 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C16, law of Ekiti State 2012, Section 79 of the Ekiti State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2014 and Section 23 (D) of the Magistrates’ Courts Law 2014 In the Motion, which was filed and moved by the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mr Gbemiga Adaramola, an order of the court was sought to issue warrant of arrest against Mr Aluko to be executed by the State Commissioner of Police for the purpose of committing him (Aluko) for trial for the offence of perjury. Chief Magistrate Adegboye said the order was granted as a means for the first defendant (Aluko) to attend the court for defence.
The matter was premised upon an application to the State Attorney General by a lawyer, Mr Sunday Olowolafe, calling for the prosecution of Mr Aluko for alleged perjury. The legal practitioner said; “I hereby apply to your office that Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko be arrested and sued for perjury in view of the interview recently granted on Channels Television by 8:00pm on Sunday 31 January, 2016. “The said Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko now recanted the evidence he gave in the cause of the hearing of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition as a star witness even up to the Supreme Court. The Certified True Copy of the State on Oath, evidence of Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko in Court on the 12/11/14 and Nigerian Tribune and The Punch newspapers of Monday, 01/02/2016 that reported the interview granted are hereto attached. “It is to be noted that this if this act (Perjury) is not looked into, it will definitely defile the cause of justice and consequently rubbished the judicial proceedings.”

Chief Magistrate court 1, Kaduna, has granted bail to a lecturer with Kaduna State University, Dr John Danfulani.

Danfulani, a lecturer with the Kaduna State University, KASU, is being held for alleged inciting and hateful statements in the social media against the people of northern Nigeria, thereby, capable of causing breakdown of law and order in northern Nigeria and other parts of the country.
It would be recalled that Danfulani was last week invited by the Police where he turned in himself.

Meanwhile, the court in its ruling on Monday said Danfulani is to provide two sureties of 2.5 million naira each and must all be civil servants who must have attained the rank of directors with the state government. They are to submit all traveling documents to the appropriate authorities.

KADUNA—The Kaduna State Kaduna Police Commissioner, CP, Umar Kofar-Naisa, has ordered, the Vice Chancellor, VC, Kaduna State University, KASU, Professor Willaims Quirix, to produce perceived anti-government lecturer, Dr. John Danfulani, over comments he claimed could cause violence.

This came as the University authorities since January 8, 2016, suspended the Political Science lecturer after querying him earlier.

But a group, Nerzit Patroitic Front, has kicked against the suspension of the lecturer, asking KASU to rescind its decision.

The group threatened to go to court, accusing KASU and state government of “persecuting Dr. Danfulani because he holds a different political ideology, ethnic and religious learning with the government of the day”.

A letter dated 21st January, 2015 with reference – CR: 000/KDS/X/D6/Vol.82/150 signed CP Umar Kofar-Niasa addressed to the VC of KASU, reads: “This Department is investigating the above mentioned case involving one of your lecturers, Dr. John Danfulani. You are kindly requested to release him to interview the undersigned through O/C General Surveillance State SCIID Kaduna on 25/01/2006 at about 1000hrs to enable complete our investigation.”

Perhaps unknown to the CP, Danfunali had been suspended by KASU.

The register of KASU, Mrs Talatu A. Kuri, had on January 8, written Danfulani to inform him of his suspension from the school.

The letter read: “We refer to our letter of query dated 5th January, 2016 requesting you to explain within 48 hours why disciplinary action will not be taken against you for gross misconduct and confirm that you failed to respond. In line with S15 (1) 4 of KASU staff Conditions of Service, the Vice Chancellor has suspended you from duty forthwith and will report the matter to Council.”

But, It will be interesting to know that in the said 'Ekiti-gate' Audio 'there was no mention of the Word 'RIG' throughout the discussion on the alledged secret tape and any other assertion on the tape discussion is ' a secondary insinuation' and so is 'NOT AN INDICTMENT ON OBANIKORO' or should prevent obanikoro from traveling abroad.
