I thought i should share this. I was going to computer village along Awolowo way, and I saw this traffic policemen driving one-way to block a driver who they wanted to arrest. they were numbering about 7 officers, they jumped out of their vehicle in a commando-like manner, opened the door of the drivers car and was pushing the man out of the car. A humanitarian organization, Voice of Change Network International through its Project-Help-a-Child initiative has supported little David Elijah, born with a hole in the heart, to raise about N2million through public donation for his heart surgery. The surgery was successfully done and the child hale and hearty.

According to the leader of the group, Azemobor Gregory, who spoke during a compassionate visit to the child and the parents at Tristatecardiovascular Centre in Babcock University, Ogun State, where the surgery was done, he said “ recently, our organization visited LASUTH and LUTH in Lagos and it was shocking to discover the number of abandoned poor kids with cases of hole-the-heart-ailment. Many of the parents have spent several years trying to raise the needed fund for their children’s surgery. But all to no avail. Also, we gathered that a large number of abandoned poor kids are also awaiting assistance from Kanu Heart Foundation. It is a sad tale of neglect by society and we believe we can do something to save the lives of these hapless kids. So in view of the this sad reality, Project-Help-a-Child team has launched a public fund raising campaign to support about 200 indigent kids with Free heart surgery. Presently, we are putting together a comprehensive data base of all identified poor kid with hole-in-the-heart ailment, across the country.”

“Several months ago, we started a campaign to save the life of baby Elijah Ayanu, who was born with a hole in the heart. We solicited for public donations to raise money for his heart surgery. Many kind-hearted people gave to support the cause.

Many thanks to all the kind-hearted people that donated to save the life of baby Elijah.
Special thanks to Tristatecardiovascular Centre, Babcock University, who did the surgery at a highly subsidized rate. We were supposed to pay about N4million , but they compassionately collected just N1.5 million

We also want to say a big thank you to the management of Television continental (TVC) for their support. They did a video clip of the child’s condition which was broadcasted on their station to get public donations. The response was very positive.

Every human being is essentially a spirit that lives in a physical body. The real you is not your body, but your spirit being. Your body is only a garment that your spirit wears. If you like, your body is a house in which your spirit dwells. While your body is mortal, your spirit is immortal. Your body is destructive. it is a product of the earth and some day it will be destroyed and returned back to the earth where it belongs. Your spirit on the other hand has its source from God. It is an extension of God. It was created in the image and likeness of God. It is Godlike in nature! This is the true composition of every human being on earth irrespective of your religion, gender, language, colour or race.
Now, it is also important to emphasize here, that the Spirit of God dwells in every one of us and it does not matter which religion you profess: whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Traditional worshipper or you could even be an agnostic or atheist, as far as you are alive, the spirit dwells in your body. In the secular parlance, it is called ‘conscience’ - that moral voice that constantly nudges you towards the path of rectitude. I just needed to say this in order to clear the air of misconception amongst us that share the Christian faith about the ‘baptism of the spirit”. The ‘baptism of the spirit’ does not give a new spirit; rather it reawakens the dormant spirit that is resident in you.
Our lives are either controlled by the desires of the flesh (your physical body) or the spirit that dwells in us. The desires of the body are contrary to the desires of the spirit. The spirit and the body are constantly at ‘war’ to gain control over your soul. They are constantly trying to ‘win’ you over to each other. So they continually speak to you. You hear their voices in your mind. The voice of the body is very logical in its argument to win you to its side because it shows you physical proof of things or circumstances you can perceive with your physical senses, while the voice of the spirit relies on moral conviction to persuade you to do anything. Many at times, what the voice of the spirit says does not make ‘logical sense’ because it does not operate based on human reason. It functions in the realm of faith- the belief in astral realities.
The body for instance is selfish and self-centred. It likes to accumulate, possess and hoard. The spirit on the other hand is selfless and self-sacrificing-It likes to give, share and distribute. The body is incapable of expressing love to others, because of it selfish nature, but the spirit loves and it is compassionate towards other people. Let me explain this, with the experience we usually have when somebody asks us for something. This happens to every one of us. There is usually a conversation that goes on in our mind: the voice of the body would tell you“ don’t give him, you know you are going to use this money for something else; he is lazy . Can’t he work to earn some money instead of begging………” the voice of the body gives you plethora of reasons why you should not help the person. The voice of the spirit is rather compassionate and it urges you from a moral point of view to help the person in need. It is usually not loud and forceful; it does not have empirical evidence to back up its persuasion. It only relies on ‘moral conviction’. So at the end of the day, you would either give to gratify your spirit and deny your flesh or you refuse to give to gratify the body and deny your spirit. When you give the spirit is happy and the flesh is pained!


Now, this is the crux of the matter. I want you to reflect on your life right now as you read this piece. Look at the motivations that drive your life: the desires and cravings that you seek to gratify. Are you living for the spirit or the flesh?. The material wealth that God has blessed you with; do you use it to gratify the body or the spirit. When what you have is used to bless others it gratifies the spirit, but if it is accumulated for selfish use, you are gratifying the flesh. Now hear this, being prosperous is not a sin, as long as others can benefit from it. The purpose why God blesses you is for your life to be a blessing to others. Remember all material wealth come from God. You are wealthy just because you are alive: And God is the giver of life. If He owns your life, then He owns all that you have.
Beloved, I beseech you to live a life that would satisfy the spirit at all times. Satiating the desires of the spirit is the Path of True Life. Do not spend your life pursuing vanities!. Do not waste your time on earth on gratify of the inordinate desires of the flesh. The body is lustful and its cravings are insatiable. No amount of money can satisfy a soul that afflicted with the ‘cancer’ of GREED; no amount of material possessions can satiate the desires of the body. If your search for ‘fulfillment’ is predicated on material achievement, you are living a life of illusion!
You know what I am talking about, in spite of your earthly ‘achievements’: the elegant houses; the latest exotic cars packed in your garage; your academic certificates; your professional accomplishment and your fat bank account. You still feel a sense of emptiness- a void within. The simple reason is that you are living for the body and not for the spirit. Fulfillment and a feeling of inner joy can only come when you live for the spirit- a life that is dedicated to selfless service to humanity.

Let me warmly wish all my beloved friends, brothers and sisters a happy and a prosperous New Year. We thank God we made it to 2017, alive, hale and hearty. We also thank God for his protection and the sustenance of life. This piece, however, is not a continuation of the long list of felicitations and kind wishes you got from friends and loved ones, because I guess you have received enough already. People had sent you New Year messages using various communication media: Many called; some sent SMS; others reached you through WhatApp messages, facebook, twitters, Instagram etc inundating you with compliments for the New Year. But rather, this piece wishes to ask some very pertinent questions as regard the true essence of New Year festivity : did you think God also wish you a happy new year celebration, just like your friends and family members? Are you sure God is personally happy with the way you have spent your life so far on earth, to warrant him congratulating you? These questions call for personal sober reflections

On the 31st of December every year, many of us would besiege various religious centres , to usher in the New Year in the ‘presence’ of the lord. By 9pm on that day, many people would leave their houses to congregate at the churches and mosques, counting down to the new year with much anticipation and excitement. There would be a lot of singing, dancing and exhortations from the clergy men. One funny observation about this day is that, many people who had not visited any religious centre throughout the year, would find their way to anyone closer to them. In churches for instance, once it is 11;30 pm, you would begin to notice the influx of ‘strange’ faces, many reeking with the smell of alcohol and cigarette, obviously migrating from beer parlors and night clubs where they had gone to ‘enjoy’ life. It is usually a day many churches ‘win’ bountiful souls for the kingdom.

Then, by 11:59 pm, the clergy man would announce the arrival of the New Year, “ Ladies and gentlemen, join me as we count down to the new year together: ten……nine…..eight………three……two……oneeeeee. Happy New Yearrrrrr! Please help me to congratulate your neighbor, tell them happy New Year”. Celebrations would rent the air as people would be shouting; “thank God I made it” “thank God we are alive, hallelujah, praise the Lord” This is usually followed with series of thanksgiving to God who had seen us through the preceding year. Then the clergy man would mount the rostrum to make ‘powerful’ declarations of our expectations for the New Year, and many of us would respond with a resounding shout of “amennnnn” “This is your year of supernatural abundance” “ amennn” “your year of restoration, prosperity and breakthrough” “amennn” “your year of this, your year of that………..” Dishing out a long list of platitudes that are pleasant to the hearing of the congregation, the clergy would conclude the celebration, with some people dispersing to their various homes, while others would retire back to the beer parlors, hotels and night clubs to continue the ‘enjoyment’ of the night.

As we embark on yet another New Year celebration rituals, may I kindly ask you once again, my beloved brothers and sisters: do you really think in all sincerity that God, who gave you the life that you are celebrating, is happy with the way you are spending it? Okay, thank God you are alive, and so what? What is the use of your life to God anyway? Don’t you know that God has a purpose for your life and that is essentially the reason why He created you? But have you ever bothered to find out what that purpose is and make an effort to fulfill it? God created you to add value to the life of others. Are you doing just that? God, as a 'manufacturer' of life created us to function in a particular way that will give him joy and satisfaction. Our lives need to function according to God’s specification!. Of course, no manufacturer would be happy to create a product that would malfunction. Any product that malfunctions, will not give satisfaction and yield profit to the producer!

I think that beyond the euphoria of the New Year merriment, there is an urgent need for us to rethink the essence of this precious gift called life. Many of us carry on with a false ‘sense of ownership’ to life. And that is why we can afford to live the way we live. In case you do not know. Your life is not your own! It was given to you by God, strictly to use it to fulfill his purpose. It has a time span, and at the end of the duration, you will be requested to give an account of your stewardship on earth. This has nothing to do with your religious affiliation. What God would require of you is your service to humanity

The purpose of your life is that you were created to live for others; your life gives life to others! The essence of your life is to add value to God’s creation by what you do for others. Everything God created must give back to life, in order to ensure the sustenance of His creation. Nothing in life lives for itself: The sea does not drink its water; the plants do not eat their fruits; the sun does not give heat to itself neither do flowers spread fragrances to themselves. Living for others is the rule of nature! Sadly, the only creatures that live for themselves are human beings. This is a grave aberration that has disrupted the stability of God’s creation. And this vividly explains the root cause of the entire crisis bedeviling humanity.

While we celebrate this New Year, the question we should be asking ourselves, which I think of course should form the basis of our resolution for the year is: “how do we begin to live righteously?” (Please note that righteousness is not a religious jargon that connotes a sinless state, it actually depicts a life that is strictly in alignment to God’s purpose!)- A life that would be pleasing to our creator, which would motivate him to wish us ‘a happy New Year’ and be proud of the life that he gave to us. This is important because many of us are busy thanking God for keeping us alive, but God is saying “what is the use of your life, when you are busy wasting my resources selfishly on yourself and the vanities that you pursue”

Many of us would also need to make restitutions for the abuse of the life God has given to us. It is important we retrace our steps back to the path of True Living; we must set our priorities right! It is time for us to reconsider living for others as the cardinal focus of our lives. The greatest abuse of your life is, for you to live for yourself and your family alone. Resolve today, to be the hand of God to lift many out of poverty. Spread the fragrance of happiness where ever you go. Let your life give hope to the hopeless. Become a father to the fatherless and a mother to the motherless! Become a voice to the voiceless. Always uphold the cause of good, fairness and justice. Liberate yourself from the shackles of material possessions. Choose rather to measure your riches in the amount of smiles you put on the faces of the poor. Remember, you have only a limited time to live your life, please spend it wisely.

The clock of your life is ticking! Every second you live moves you closer to the grave- mortality. If you like don’t listen to my wise counsel ,obviously because of the deception of the materials riches around you! Be wise; don’t destroy your soul pursuing vanities

I am getting impatient with what you call prayers. Many of you let out deafening screams and shrieks in the name of praying. It’s as if you think I’m deaf – that I won’t hear you unless you shout, punch the air like bad boxers, and contort your faces into strange expressions, like unseasoned Nollywood over-actors.
In fact, if I weren’t indestructible, I would since have lost my hearing for all the noise many of you make while praying. If I appeared before you in physical form, I’m afraid some of you would long have poked out my eye for all the jabbing you do when you pray. Please take note: my perceptual faculties are sound; they’re so flawless that even the word “perfect” is too imperfect to describe them. My hearing, for instance, is so good that I even hear the heart’s silent murmur. Please quit this rude habit of howling you mistake for prayer.

One is how you bother me, day and night, to give you the things I’ve already granted you in prodigious quantities. Another is your ceaseless pleas that I do for you what you should be doing for yourselves.
What great gifts haven’t I bestowed on you Nigerians? I gave you a huge supply of rich arable land that should make you the envy of other nations. You can grow all kinds of food on this land – yam, cocoyam, groundnuts, rice, potatoes and more. Yet, a few among you bask in greed and wallow in conspicuous consumption while the majority goes hungry. Then I buried massive reserves of some of the most treasured natural resources in your land, among them tin, coal, and oil – the 20th century’s black gold.
Again, you have allowed a gluttonous few among you to steal the wealth that should belong to all. Look around you, how many of your African neighbors can boast even a fraction of the resources I have blessed you with? For that matter, how many countries in the world are as richly endowed as you?
What has all that wealth done for you? Nothing!
No roads. Each year, your politicians and rulers pocket hundreds of billions of naira that should be spent on roads.. Instead of sending them off to jail, what do you do? You garland them with empty titles and include their names on your roll of national honor. Instead of calling them criminals, you celebrate them. Instead of covering your noses in their presence, many of you grovel before them. You flatter them with the names of “Leader,” “stakeholder,” “prominent Nigerian,” or “Mr. Fix-it.” You baptize them as chieftains when you ought to address them properly, as thieftains.
Each year, thousands of you perish in horrible accidents on the country’s ill-paved or neglected roads. In other countries, these avoidable deaths would trigger outrage at the rapacious politicians who did away with the budget for roads. Not in Nigeria. Instead, you raise your over-loud voices to heaven, as if I decreed that the roads be in ghastly condition. You call down “holy ghost fire” on the faceless witches and wizards you blame for these road casualties.
Such demons exist only in the deceptive imagination of your imams and pastors. The simple reality is that bad roads and deplorable driving habits cause accidents.
Yes, when you should hold your politicians accountable, you embrace the abracadabra of some so-called “men of God” who preach that accidents are caused by marine spirits. Such superstitious nonsense sometimes fills me with pity, other times with holy rage.
The culture of mediocrity extends to every sector of your national life. Ask yourselves a few simple questions. Why do your leaders always fly to other countries for medical treatment? Are there no qualified Nigerian physicians to treat their ailments? Why are most of these experts living and working abroad? How do the leaders treat the Nigerian doctors who are home-based? Are they encouraged with funds to do their research? Does the government provide equipment to enable them to serve the rest of you when you fall sick?
Why do you put up with fake leaders who travel abroad at your expense, but who do nothing to ensure you have access to decent health care when you fall sick? Why can’t you insist that, unless they meet one condition, they can no longer use your funds to fly abroad? That condition is this: if they can’t, or won’t, fix the country’s health care delivery system, then they must first budget funds for each and every sick Nigerian to be flown abroad as well. You must refuse to underwrite their treatment in countries other men and women have organized well.
Today, hundreds of thousands of you die yearly from malaria and other easily manageable diseases. Far too many women die giving birth – a rarity in most other countries. Again, why don’t you rise and chase off the wreckers of your lives, the despoilers of your present and future, the looters of your treasury? Why, instead, do you turn to colluding pastors and imams to intercede on your behalf for divine healing?
A few years ago, your former president flew in an American pastor to come and deliver miraculous healings. Did any of you wonder why the same president, when he’s sick, consults a foreign doctor instead of a foreign pastor?
Let me spell it out again: the pastors who tell you that some invisible dark forces and principalities are behind the senseless deaths of sick Nigerians are plain liars. Hear me well: they are unscrupulous scam artists who exploit you with superstitious tales. These deaths occur because of two related reasons: one, that most of your so-called leaders are simply unconscionable robbers, and, two, that many of you – out of moral cowardice, ignorance or some parochial principle – allow the contemptible usurpers to get away with carting off public funds.
Oh, how you Nigerians sometimes test my patience! You rig elections, and you say it’s God’s doing. You steal power, and you say – knowing it’s a lie – that only God gives power. You embezzle billions from the public treasury, and you say – again, knowing it’s a lie – that God has blessed you. Some of you then pay ten percent of your loot to a sham pastor – as if it’s possible to bribe God. Other ruthless thieves among you take up knighthoods in one denomination or another, or make a fetish of going to Mecca, or build a private chapel or mosque. Do you think that God is an accessory to fraud, or will ever be impressed by a robber’s gestures, however seemingly grand in the eyes of mere mortals?
It irks me to hear Nigerians say that only God can solve your problems – when the solution is well within your grasp? Did God manufacture your problems? Your leaders (who are actually rulers, for they can’t lead) buy up swanky real estate in South Africa, Dubai, England, Europe, the US, even in neighboring Ghana. Do you not know that true leaders, not I, built up these countries and their infrastructures?
Do you not remember how you once regarded Ghana as a basket case? How that country’s citizens flooded the streets of Nigeria in search of any menial job that was to be had? Today, Ghanaians leaders and followers, working together, are revamping their nation. Some of your former heads of state have fatter bank accounts than Ghana. Yet, Ghanaians have husbanded their resources and are achieving a nation they can be proud of, and others commend. Ghana’s cities and many rural areas now enjoy virtually uninterrupted power supply. How about Nigeria? It’s a narrative of failure. After squandering billions of dollars on fictional power projects, your leaders can’t guarantee 2,000 megawatts on a good day! No wonder your leaders, shameless as ever, now flock with their mistresses to Accra and other Ghanaian cities for weekend romps and revelries. But I wonder: Why do you accept this decrepit existence?
Here’s the bottom line: I’ve given Nigerians more than their fair share in natural and human endowments. It’s up to you to achieve the change you want – or else remain captive to woes. Begin today – not tomorrow – by committing to moral conversion. You’re world champions in praying. It’s time to start acting. Work for the change you desire. If you believe in God, then let it show. True believers don’t engage in corrupt acts. They don’t steal elections, nor do they rest until hijackers of elective office are swept out.
Know this, ye Nigerians. It’s not God’s job to build your roads and hospitals, to sweep your dirty streets, to do the work of your doctors, to drag your corrupt leaders before a magistrate, or to kill those you permit to destroy your collective lives. Listen to Fela: Don’t shuffer and shmile. And to Bob Marley: stand up for your rights!"

Saturday 17th of December 2016, was a day Jesus Christ ‘celebrated’ Xmas in Lagos, with the less privilege through the kind- hearted gesture of Christmas Without Hunger Initiative ( CHW), led by Dr. Dare Dada and his team. This year’s event was the 4th edition of the initiative.

According to Dr. Dare Dada, he said he got inspired to start the initiative with some of his friends, from his experience on the field during their free medical check-up outreaches. “ The free medical outreaches we organize really exposed me to the suffering of people. I discovered that after attending to their medical needs, there was always the need to attend to their hunger needs too”. He explained

Speaking further, Dada said, “ the project which started about 4 years ago, has tremendously touched the lives of many less privilege family during festive periods. It is common knowledge that during festive seasons, while few people have so much to squander in affluent celebration, the majority of the poor are neglected to suffer hunger and want. This year’s event was a huge success as we were able to give free bags of rice to 896 widows, single parents and the aged etc. Let me specially appreciate all those that made it possible. People gave bags of rice, vegetable oil, their money, time, and effort to make this happen. May God bless you all. My staff at Synergy Medicals, you guys are wonderful. Thank you all, Let us do this again next year"

One of the team members, Motara Odunayo, who was part of the project, had this to say, “I consider it a great privilege to have been a part of this great drive. We catered to 896 widows with bags of rice and vegetable oil. Some of them are Muslims while some are Christians.

I thank everyone who gave something towards this drive. Some gave money and some gave time. Some even gave rice and vegetable oil. I have learnt a lot in the process of partnering with these great men Wole Temidire Aguda Dada Dare ,Deda and our rice supplier, Buari.

Voice of Change Network International aka Voice of Divine Truth International Outreach is set to commence the first phase of its proposed Charity City, with the launching of N2 billion ( USD 7 million) Fund Raising for its Food Bank, Cloth bank, Free Food Kitchen and Free Medical Centre Projects.


According to the leader of the group, Mr. Azemobor Greory. “ Plans are underway to acquire a warehouse property in Ikeja-Lagos, within the first quarter of next year 2017. This temporary facility will accommodate the Food Bank, Cloth Bank, Free Food Kitchen and Free Medical Centre". Let me give you a preview of what the temporary Charity City will offer:


FOOD BANK
The food bank will receive food items donation from kind-hearted individuals and corporate organizations from time to time
The food items received will be distributed FREE to poor families, widows, single parents etc irrespective of their religion, tribe or nationality. The distribution will be done monthly, weekly or Daily within the Charity City premises, depending on the availability of food items
The expected food items donation include Rice, beans, garri, yam, oil and all manufactured food items etc


CLOTH BANK:
The cloth bank will receive cloth donations from kind-hearted individuals, boutiques, cloth dealers and fashion houses. The clothes will be washed, dry cleaned and packaged to be distributed FREE to all those that need clothing- indigent kids, destitute, street children, orphanage home, widows etc
The items needed include: Adult clothes, children clothes, shoes, bags, household appliances etc


FREE FOOD KITCHEN
The Free Food Kitchen will cook to feed the poor on weekly or daily basis depending on the availability of food stuff. Our target is to feed 20,000 hungry people on daily basis. The cooked food will be distributed in a take-away pack or people could choose to eat in the Kitchen located within the premises of the Charity City.


FREE MEDICAL CENTRE
The Free Medical Centre will provide FREE medical services to the poor in the society. The services will include: free check- up, free eye test, free dispensed drugs, free mosquito net distribution , provision of financial support for kids with serious ailment ( heart surgery) etc


HOW TO FINANCE THE PROJECT
This is a charity project that will be financed by generous donations from kind-hearted individuals, corporate organizations and donor agencies. We are going to have
1. Individual Charity City Partners.
2. Corporate Charity City Partners
3. Charity City Volunteers
As a Charity City Partner you make a financial commitment to support the project. Your donations could be made either monthly or annually.The Charity City Partners could also donate food items or clothing materials
The Charity City Volunteers are all those that give their time, talent, skills and professional inputs to support the project. A lot of people will be needed to provide numerous services for the poor in the Charity City.
