Crime › Nigeria Christian Persecution As World Looks On by BetterHeadline(op): 2:17pm On Jan 08, 2023 |
SOURCEManga is a Christian in Nigeria, the most dangerous country in the world, where a Christian is killed every two hours. Manga had to be one of them. Twenty years old, Manga was returning home like every night after university. His mother was preparing dinner.
Men from Boko Haram, the Islamist group that has sworn allegiance to Al-Qaeda, raided his home. They took Manga, his father and brother out, while his mother and younger brothers locked themselves in another room. "Then they asked my father and the two of us if we were ready to deny Jesus and embrace Islam", Manga testified to the NGO "Open Doors". Manga's father refused. "So they told us, 'We will kill you.' I answered them: 'If you kill us, what do you gain?'.
Manga was then hit with the butt of a rifle and his father brutally murdered. 'They beheaded him and put his head on his stomach, in front of my eyes.' says Manga. 'Then they tried to behead my brother.'
Manga watched helplessly as his family was slaughtered. Then his turn came. 'They took a knife, with serrated teeth and tried to cut my neck.' The young man was left on the ground, before his eyes the bodies of his father and brother. As if that were not enough, those of Boko Haram hung a bomb at the gate of the house, where Manga's mother and brothers smaller ones were screaming in terror. They were rescued by neighbors.
But for the second year in a row, Nigeria has just been dropped from the US State Department's list of countries committing the worst religious freedom violations in the world. For more than twenty years, the President of the United States has been required to annually review the state of religious freedom in every country in the world and designate those governments and entities that perpetrate or tolerate serious violations of religious freedom.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this year's designations on Dec. 2: No Nigeria. The US Commission on International Religious Freedom said it was "outraged" by Nigeria's exclusion.
Jude Arogundade, bishop of the diocese of Ondo, southwestern Nigeria, noted that "every time the US Democrats are in power they look away from the killings of Christians. It was very visible during the Obama administration." And it is under Joe Biden, guarantor of the Emir of Qatar.
Every day in Nigeria 17 Christians are killed for their faith. Nigeria's Silent Slaughter report reveals that from January 1, 2000 to January 31, 2020, there were 96,309 total deaths in Nigeria. Open Doors speaks of 13,000 churches destroyed. 43,000 Christians killed in twelve years.
And where is the European Union on these 100,000 dead? Nowhere.
What about the UN Human Rights Council? It is silent, on the other hand Qatar is part of it and is the 18th country in the world that most persecutes Christians.
And the UN Commissioner for Human Rights? What about Amnesty International? Nothing.
They are all too busy attacking Israel.
“The investigation into acts of corruption within the European Parliament is an essential revelation: our institutions are in the crosshairs of Qatar, the main financier of political Islam in Europe, a drift that explains many of the battles we face... ”, wrote the French philosopher and MEP François-Xavier Bellamy.
Perhaps then the Brussels investigation into pro-Qatar corruption will also be able to shed light on the silence of the European Parliament on the persecution of Christians and more precisely on the case of the young Nigerian Christian Deborah Samuel, killed and burned by muslims. Within the group of European Socialists & Democrats, shaken by the "Qatargate", all the MPs refused to shed light on a "genocide" of Christians committed in the name of Islam.
And the same people in the European Parliament voted to condemn the killing of the journalist of Al Jazeera, a Qatari organ, and not that of Deborah Samuel.
The European Parliament also voted a resolution on the persecution of religious minorities. But not before they deleted this sentence about Christians: “Christians are estimated to make up the majority of all religiously persecuted and that 340 million Christians worldwide suffer high levels of persecution and discrimination, with over 4,500 Christians killed in 2020 alone because of their religion”.
So Marc Fromager, director of Aid to the Church in Need, is right when he writes in Le Figaro that Christians "think they have been sold for 30 barrels of oil by the political authorities of the West. They didn't expect to be forgotten even by their brothers." Oil barrels, gas pipes and now we also discover rooms full of cash. In Brussels, these days, we have seen to what level of corruption the "official Europe" has fallen. |

Crime › Female Jogger Stabbed In The Throat By Man Screaming Allah Akbar by BetterHeadline(op): 8:14pm On Jan 04, 2023 |
Afghani Muslim Migrant Repeatedly Stabbed Female Jogger in Throat, Larynx Had To Be Stitched Up A few hours before New Year’s Eve, a 23-year-old Afghan repeatedly stabbed a 34-year-old jogger in the throat who was running along the Reims canal in France. SOURCEThe Afghani migrant has been indicted for attempted murder and remanded in custody, announced the public prosecutor in a press release.
This violent attack took place suddenly around 3:45 p.m. at rue René-de-Bovis. The Afghani, dressed in a djellaba, a long, loose dress, generally with a hood traditionally worn by Muslim men, tackled the woman to the ground and “screamed in a foreign language” before stabbing her in the throat. In the case of most Islamic terror attacks, Muslims often shout their battle cry, “Allahu Akbar,” right before inflicting terror.
The victim tried to protect himself and fight off the Afghani. Thankfully, passers-by intervened and caused the man to flee. The Afghani was finally arrested shortly after by motorcycle police officers. The victim, who was hit in the larynx, is fortunate to be alive, according to her doctors. She was taken care of before the arrival of paramedics by a nurse before being evacuated to the hospital. The woman’s larynx had to be stitched up.
Unknown to police The suspect was previously unknown to the police and justice services. While in police custody, he said he suffered from headaches and did not remember the attack. The man underwent a psychiatric examination which did not detect anything that could alter his discernment.
The migrant arrived in France three years ago and has a residence permit valid until January 26.
The police officers of the departmental security are in charge of the investigations.
Islamic France Islamic attacks in France are part of a new normal in a country struggling with mass illegal migration since 2015. France has the largest Muslim population of any European Union country. Muslims make up more than 10 percent of the population. Islam has become the country’s fastest-growing religion as Church memberships, and tax revenues have decreased significantly.
“Over the past three decades, the French have granted official recognition to over 3,000 mosques and Islamic associations, enabling them to benefit from tax exemptions and other pecuniary advantages worth billions of euros,” reports Gatestone. |
Crime › Slaughtering Parents: An Islamic Hate That Knows No Bounds by BetterHeadline(op): 8:07pm On Jan 04, 2023 |
Incidents of Muslims slaughtering, or trying to slaughter, their own parents are on the rise. SOURCEMost recently, a 30-year-old Muslim man stabbed his own mother in the throat with a knife in France. After characterizing the incident as an “attempted murder,” local authorities said that the “accused has admitted to the crime,” which he “committed for personal and religious reasons.” Further underscoring the latter reason—“religion”—the Muslim would-be matricide was heard crying “Allahu Akbar.”
Two month earlier, and also in France, a Muslim man, 25, beheaded his own father , 60, with a knife. When police arrived on the scene, the Muslim patricide was also heard crying “Allahu Akbar” while fleeing the scene.
That the Muslim men in both of these examples from France deemed it fit to cry Islam’s ancient, jihadist war-cry—which literally means “my god is greater than yours”—indicates that, whatever their quarrel, these Muslim men at least believed that, in slaughtering their parents, they were acting on behalf of or vindicating Islam.
This was certainly the case of another, well-documented case of Muslim patricide. In September, 2022, a Muslim man bludgeoned his mother and father to death in Nigeria. The reason? “My parents don’t like the prophet Muhammad because I adore him, [and] they called me a mad [crazy] person,” Munkaila Ahmadu, 37, explained in a video recorded by police. “[So] I killed them, because they refuse[d] to accept the truth concerning the prophet Muhammad. I killed them because they abused the prophet and their punishment is death—there is no repentance for any person who abused the Prophet.” He is certainly not alone in such logic. After a Muslim mob stoned and burned to death a Christian college student, Deborah Yakub-Samuel accused of blaspheming Muhammad, a Muslim cleric justified the atrocity by saying:
“When you touch the prophet we become mad [crazy] people…. Anyone who touches the prophet, no punishment — just kill!” Showing no remorse whatsoever for murdering his father (70) and mother (60), Ahmadu instead boasted of how “I will [soon] be free because Allah is with the righteous person; that is why I am not worrying over my action…. I am now in police custody because, by human thinking, I did a wrong thing but in the sight of Allah and the Prophet what I did is the right thing” (emphasis added).
Is this true? Unfortunately, yes. “Executing” those who “blaspheme” against the prophet of Islam is as old as Islam itself and traces straight back to Muhammad, who was first to call for the slaughter of those who mocked or called him “mad.”
But even beyond the issue of blasphemy, another of Muhammad’s doctrines—that of al-wala’ w’al-bara’ (which can be simply translated as “love and hate”)—requires Muslims to hate anyone perceived to be in opposition to Islam.
Koran 60:4 is the cornerstone verse of this doctrine. As Osama bin Laden once concluded, after quoting that verse:
Such, then, is the basis and foundation of the relationship between the infidel and the Muslim. Battle, animosity, and hatred — directed from the Muslim to the infidel — is the foundation of our religion (The Al Qaeda Reader, p. 43). Similarly, after citing Koran 60:4, the Islamic State confessed to the West that “we hate you, first and foremost, because you are disbelievers.” As for any and all political “grievances,” these are “secondary” reasons for the jihad, ISIS said:
The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam . Even if you were to pay jizya and live under the authority of Islam in humiliation, we would continue to hate you (emphasis added). Even so, surely this hate has nothing to do with slaughtering fellow Muslims—especially one’s own mother and father? Actually, the doctrine of al-wala’ w’al-bara’ encompasses even these killings. Consider Koran 58:22, another key verse that calls for hating non-Muslims:
You shall find none who believe in Allah and the Last Day on friendly terms with those who oppose Allah and his Messenger — even if they be their fathers, their sons, their brothers, or their nearest kindred. According to Ibn Kathir’s mainstream commentary on the Koran ( The Al Qaeda Reader, pp. 75-76), this verse refers to a number of Muhammad’s Companions who slaughtered their own kin during the battle of Badr: one slew his father, another his brother, a third—Abu Bakr, the first revered caliph of Islamic history—tried to slay his son, and Omar, the second righteous caliph, slaughtered several of his relatives.
As Ibn Kathir explains, Allah was immensely pleased by their unwavering zeal for his cause and rewarded them with the highest level of paradise, as captured by the latter part of Koran 58:22:
Allah has inscribed the faith in their very hearts, and strengthened them [against their kin] with a spirit from himself. He will admit them to gardens watered by running streams, where they shall dwell forever. In short, no one—not even fathers and mothers—are safe from the jihad.
There is a final and highly relevant lesson from all this: If Muslims are called on to hate and even murder their own flesh and blood—including fathers, sons, brothers, and wives—whenever they are perceived as mocking Muhammad or merely opposing Islam, is it any surprise that so many Muslims hate the “natural” enemies of Islam—foreign “infidels,” such as those who live all throughout the West?
While officialdom vehemently denies this reality, others in the West are apparently learning that, in Donald Trump’s words, speaking after a series of Islamic terror strikes in late 2015: “ I think Islam hates us. There’s something there that — there’s a tremendous hatred there. There’s a tremendous hatred. We have to get to the bottom of it.”
For those paying attention, we’ve gotten to the bottom of it a long time ago. |

Crime › Mob Attack Christians For Trying To Fix Church Roof by BetterHeadline(op): 5:08pm On Dec 30, 2022 |
As Christmas Eve was being celebrated in the West, in Egypt, Muslims rioted and attacked a church on Dec. 24, 2022. SOURCEThe church’s great “crime” was to have tried to fix its dilapidated roof, which contradicts the draconian, anti-Christian dictates of Islamic law, sharia, as enshrined in Article 2 of Egypt’s Constitution.
Two years earlier, the roof of the Church of the Virgin and Anba Samuel in Abis al-Thawra, a village in the outskirts of Alexandria, began to crumble and fall through the building. On at least one occasion, portions of the roof, after heavy rains, collapsed in on and injured several congregants. After two years’ worth of appealing to the authorities for a permit to “fix the roof and save the lives of worshippers,” the church finally received approval.
This is the only church in an area covering several villages and hamlets to serve some 600 Christian families. Built in 1979, it is already severely overcrowded (and, therefore, a “safety hazard,” like many churches that recently “caught fire” in Egypt.) Hence, during the application process, the Copts had also requested approval to enlarge the church.
The authorities refused, granting only approval to fix the roof—and yet even this was too much for the local Muslim populace, which rioted and hurled stones at the church, individual Copts, and the roof workers. They also set fire to a Christian farmhouse adjacent to the church.
The reason for Muslim ire is that sharia mandates that, not only can new churches never be built on territories conquered by Islam (such as Egypt), but preexisting churches can never be repaired. Letting nature and time eliminate already existing churches is seen as a form of “tolerance”—one that, nonetheless, must never be interfered with, in this case, by fixing a roof.
Christmas Eve’s mob violence was enough to get police and state security to intervene, disperse the mob, and restore calm. They also left security around the church.
As usual, none of the (Muslim) assailants or instigators was arrested. Instead, all roof construction work was halted under the pretext of “calming the situation.” Based on precedent, however, Copts fear that this “temporary” halt will become permanent.
After all, this scenario has played out countless times in Egypt: whenever a church is legalized or repaired—or is merely rumored to be legalized or repaired—local Muslim mobs riot and attack Christians. Authorities frequently respond by appeasing the rioters and permanently sealing up the “offending” churches on the charge that they are “ security risks ” to the region.
Time will tell if the law will, once again, collapse before Muslim mob rule, or if some semblance of justice will prevail for the Church of the Virgin and Anba Samuel in Egypt. |

The alumni raised some posers, saying, “How did the Government circular on hijab enforcement find its way to Giwa Mosque's Imam in Offa when churches don't have a copy? When did Islamic clerics become law enforcement agents in Kwara State? Are the armed Jihadist protesters students of OBHS or parents?
"Are they from the ministry of education? Was permission taken from necessary Security Agents before the so-called peaceful protest was carried out? Why were they armed, attacking and harassing Christians, students and passersby? Who armed them with weapons and walkie-talkies?"SOURCEThe Kwara State Government has announced the reopening of Oyun Baptist High School, Ijagbo, for students after about four months of closure over the use of hijab by female Muslim students.
The state government had closed the school on Thursday, February 3, 2022, saying it “condemns the flagrant act of discrimination against anyone, especially children, on religious grounds.”
“Such discrimination will not be tolerated in any public-owned institution in the state,” it had added. However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Mary Adeosun, said the school would be reopened from Friday, June 3, exactly four months after it was closed.
The government said it would not “hesitate to shut the school again, among other things, if anything threatens the safety of the little children”.
The statement read, “The Ministry’s decision to reopen the school is one of the government’s multi-prong approaches to return normalcy to the school.
“Consequently, all teachers and students are directed to return to their classrooms while the government white paper committee continues the efforts to address pending issues related to the recent disturbance in the public school.
“Similarly, the Ministry restates the government’s position that any Muslim schoolgirl who desires to wear the Hijab is allowed to do so in all public schools, including in Oyun Baptist High School Ijagbo, which is owned by the State Government and run with public resources.”
Some alumni of the school had blamed the government for allegedly failing to act on reports given to it concerning a planned attack on the school.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that alumni noted that the crisis in the school should have been nipped in the bud because the Kwara State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria had called on the government but there was no response.
The alumni had demanded that the state government should unravel and unveil the hoodlums and extremists causing a public disturbance in the name of Hijab enforcement.
In a release sent to SaharaReporters, one of the alumni had said, “On 2nd February, 2022, we were informed that some Jihadists had mobilised and were ready to destabilise the academic session of OBHS.
"Promptly as early as 6 am, the Ijagbo CAN Chairman called the Chief Imam of Ijagbo of the planned invasion of the OBHS by the fundamentalists, to caution them and await the outcome of the meeting scheduled to hold by 11 am called for by the state government.
“Unfortunately, around 6:30 am, without any provocation, the jihadist started shouting 'No Hijab, no school' as they marched in batches to the school. "A few of them were from Ijagbo, most of them were mercenaries from Offa, Ilorin and a number of them were from Osun State. Even Ijagbo Muslims confirmed that most of the faces at the crisis zone were strange in the community. This is to let the public know how calculated and organised the attack was.
“All efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, DSS (Department of State Services), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on the ground to calm these fundamentalists proved abortive.
"This is history repeating itself. It was in March/April 2021 that a similar Hijab crisis, which is believed to have been sponsored by the people close to and in the government of Kwara State, ensued and resulted in the brutality of some church members and the loss of properties worth millions of naira in Ilorin.
“Oyun Baptist High School does not only have a school in it, it has farmlands, a Chapel, and other private properties owned by the proprietor.”
The alumni raised some posers, saying, “How did the Government circular on hijab enforcement find its way to Giwa Mosque's Imam in Offa when churches don't have a copy? It means we are not saying that a Christian cannot be president of Nigeria. We are simply saying that such a Christian should not be a Yoruba man or woman. SOURCEThe Islamic human rights organization, Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, on Friday described Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a candidate that fits into its long-term aspiration for a Yoruba Muslim President.
MURIC made the remark while noting that any party that picks a Yoruba Christian presidential candidate may lose.
The group made the remark in a statement signed and forwarded to DAILY POST by its Director and founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola.
Tinubu had on Monday hinted on running for the presidency in 2023.
The former governor of Lagos State had disclosed that he informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run for the Presidency in 2023.
The APC National Leader disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja, where he stated that becoming Nigeria’s president was his life-long aspiration.
Reacting to Tinubu’s declaration, Akintola said: “It is no longer news that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has declared his intention to contest for the post of president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This happened on Monday, 10th January, 2022.
“It will be recalled that our organisation has repeatedly demanded the emergence of a Yoruba Muslim candidate for the post of president of this country because of the prolonged religious persecution being faced by Muslims in the South West. We have been consistent in this demand. This is verifiable in at least four different press statements issued by us in the past.
“Tinubu’s declaration for the highest post in the land is therefore a welcome development. Also in pursuit of this campaign, MURIC has spent the last four days from Monday 10th January, 2022 (when Tinubu made his declaration) to Thursday, 13th January consulting its state branches in the Yoruba states : Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti. The outcome of our investigation reveals a resounding support for Tinubu’s declaration.
“All our state branches confirmed that Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been close enough to Yoruba Muslims. The Lagos chapter of MURIC also vouched that although Tinubu is not the type that will marginalize Nigerian Christians, at the same time, he will not estrange Yoruba Muslims or ignore their complaints when he becomes president of Nigeria.
“This is the time Yoruba Muslims need the support of their Muslim brethren all over the country to ensure that Tinubu emerges as the candidate of his party at the primaries. They should also vote for him massively during the presidential elections to ensure that he emerges as the president of Nigeria to be sworn in on 29th May, 2023.
“This is the only fair thing that can happen to Yoruba Muslims. Interestingly enough, nobody can claim that the advent of Tinubu as the president of Nigeria is unfair to Yoruba Christians because at least three Yoruba Christians have been both presidents and vice presidents of Nigeria.
“Mathew Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo was military head of state and president (1976 – 1979, 1999 – 2007). Earnest Shonekan was interim head of state (August 1993 – November 1993). Right now, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a pastor of the Redeemed Church, has been vice president of Nigeria for the past seven years (from 2015 to date).
“But no single Yoruba Muslim has had the opportunity to taste power in the centre. It is therefore the turn of a Yoruba Muslim and the cap fits Ahmed Tinubu, a Muslim born into a strong Muslim family. Yoruba Muslims are proud of Tinubu as a politician of timber, caliber and caterpillar. He has the mandate of Yoruba Muslims.
“We sound out a caveat emptor to all political parties in the country. Any party that picks a Yoruba Christian as its presidential candidate is on its own. Yoruba Muslims and, indeed, Muslims North and South, will not vote for such a candidate.
“We do not wish to be misunderstood. We will therefore reiterate our position on Christian candidates in the coming presidential election. MURIC has no objection to Christian candidates emerging from any other geo-political zone. It means we are not saying that a Christian cannot be president of Nigeria. We are simply saying that such a Christian should not be a Yoruba man or woman.
“Yoruba Muslims have been marginalized for so long. Politically, Christians have monopolised ministerial positions, state commissionership, boards and agencies. Economically, civil service jobs are selectively offered. The education sector has been the Archiles heel of Yoruba Muslims and a concentration camp where Muslim children are forced to adopt Christian culture. A Christian president from the South West will therefore turn the headache of Yoruba Muslims into migraine.
“MURIC will not be partisan. We will give all political parties a level playing ground. Therefore, we will also support any other political party that picks a Muslim candidate from the South West. No political party should claim that it cannot find qualified Muslim politicians when the likes of Babatunde Fashola, Dr. Muiz Banire, Dr. Abdul Lateef Abdul Hakeem, Senator Fatai Buhari, Rauf Aregbesola, etc, are making waves on the Nigerian political architecture.
“Our target is the liberation of Yoruba Muslims from the shackles of political marginalisation, socio-economic repression and educational enslavement. While MURIC will never exhibit enmity, derision or contempt towards Christians and people of other faiths, it has zero tolerance for Muslim haters. Aluta continua : no retreat, no surrender until victoria acerta.” |

•In a statement, Dada alleged that the Muslim fundamentalists overpowered the police, forcibly removed the gate, signboard of the school and threw stones at Christians there for over one hour. •Only the gallant resistance of members and eventual security reinforcements saved the church from being burnt. •More than 20 [Christians] were wounded with three hospitalised. •They doused the church gate with petrol and vandalised the auditorium. They also went ahead to vandalise The Apostolic Church, Eruda, Ilorin, a church without any grant-aided school.” •He also alleged that, in the last 15 years, the government had not employed teachers for Christian Religious Knowledge but employed Islamic religious teachers in schools, including the mission schools. SOURCEThe President of Kwara Baptist Conference, Reverend Victor Dada, has alleged that Muslim fundamentalists promised to burn down First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin, Kwara State where Christians gathered for a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday.
SaharaReporters had reported how a clash broke out between Christians and Muslims over a controversy bordering on the use of hijab by Muslim students in schools in the state.
In a statement, Dada alleged that the Muslim fundamentalists overpowered the police, forcibly removed the gate, signboard of the school and threw stones at Christians there for over one hour.
According to him, at least 20 people, including four pastors, were wounded and three were hospitalised.
The statement partly read, “Despite that the case is at the Supreme Court and a stay of execution was obtained by proprietors of the mission school, the government announced the use of hijab and reopening of the schools today.
“Christians who were today at First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin on peaceful demonstration with drums and trumpets, came under serious attack by Muslim fundamentalists who mobilised themselves and louts in large numbers to attack us.
“They overpowered the police, forcefully removed the gate and signboard of the school and started stoning us for over one hour.
“Only the gallant resistance of members and eventual security reinforcements saved the church from being burnt.
“More than 20 people were wounded with three hospitalised.
“The fundamentalist in the presence of security officials vehemently attempted to burn the church and when repelled, threatened to burn the church either during the day or at night.
“They doused the church gate with petrol and vandalised the auditorium. They also went ahead to vandalise The Apostolic Church, Eruda, Ilorin, a church without any grant-aided school.”
The cleric stated that the church maintains its stance on the controversial issue, stressing that wearing of hijab will not be permitted in mission schools.
He also alleged that, in the last 15 years, the government had not employed teachers for Christian Religious Knowledge teachers but employed Islamic religious teachers in schools, including the mission schools.
“It is surprising that the government has become a government of the Muslim, by the Muslim and for the Muslim in his (state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq) policies, pronouncements and attitude.
“We wish to restate our stand that our schools are grant-aided and not public schools. At no time since the grant aiding policy started in 1974 has any government designed uniform for schools.
“This has always been the responsibility of the proprietors, be it community or mission. It should be noted that Christians have always complied with Islamic guidelines in grant-aided Muslim school as Muslims do not allow any Christian practice in their schools.
“The Muslims and the government should not take our gentleness for weakness. The government has not employed Christian Religious Knowledge teachers in the last 15 years but kept employing and posting Imam and Islamic religious teachers in large numbers (even in mission schools).
“We shall not allow the use of hijab in our schools. We will defend our faith and defend our inheritance. We demand that the government should return our schools." |

A former Executive Secretary of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Professor Daud Olatokunbo Shittu Noibi, has warned Muslims from the South West against participating in the call for the actualisation of Yoruba nation. SOURCENoibi, who retired from the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Ibadan, made this disclosure on Saturday during a send-forth and book presentation in his honour organised by MUSWEN in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Some of the dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal; JAMB Registrar, Professor Isiaq Oloyede; MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo; MUSWEN Executive Secretary, Professor Muslih Yahya; MURIC Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola; Alhaji Kunle Sanni and UI Chief Imam, Professor Abdulrahman Oloyede.
Others are the book presenter, Alhaji Sa’eed Alao; First Bank GMD, Dr. Sola Adeduntan; Alhaji Saheed Aweda and Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, Professor Afis Oladosu; among others.
DAILY POST gathered that some groups and individuals, including Professor Banji Akintoye and Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, have been calling for the actualisation of the Yoruba nation.
Noibi, who was the pioneer MUSWEN Executive Secretary, has, however, warned Muslims in the South West region against participating in anything that has to do with the creation of the Yoruba nation.
He said that the agenda of the agitators poses a big dilemma for the Muslims in the region; hence none of them should support the agitation.
He advised them not to be part of the agitation because it would not promote the unity and oneness Nigerians have been yearning for.
He explained that ethnic warlords want the people to be bound only by ethnic sentiments and take fellow believers of other ethnic extractions for enemies, which he said is against the teachings of the Qur’an.
Noibi said, “Muslims in the South West, don’t be part of agitation for the Yoruba nation.
“I have for a very long time unshakably been committed to promoting Muslim unity up and down the country. I was called names. However, I have since been vindicated.
“Nothing should be done to stop or reverse the growth of that unity. At this juncture, I should draw attention to the special danger posed for us, the Muslims of the South West, by the agitation for the creation of Oodua or Yoruba nation out of Nigeria.
“Besides, the evil consequences of a breakup of the country, the agenda of the agitators poses a big dilemma for the Muslims of the South West. Allah directs us Muslims across ethnic boundaries to be bound by the Islamic brotherhood.
“On the other hand, ethnic warlords want us to be bound only by ethnic sentiments and take fellow believers of other ethnic extractions for enemies”. |

Sources contend that the Tinubu camp had been having some running battles with Fashola from his first day in office and that an association of mutual suspicion has been existing between them.
It was gathered that immediately Fashola became governor, some of those close to him prompted him to question the continued control of the state’s political apparatus by Tinubu.
A source also said that the state government toyed with the idea of reviewing the tax consultancy regime foisted on the state by Tinubu’s administration, which ensured that the consultancy company takes home 10 percent of the state’s earnings on a monthly basis.
Sources had suggested that the bulk of those earnings were being repatriated back to his predecessor in office and that allowing a former political office holder access to such funds could be dangerous to the incumbent. Read Full Post And Comments Here: https://www.nairaland.com/365672/lagos-house-plans-impeach-fashiolaThe battle for Lagos - Tax issues, road contracts tear Tinubu, Fashola apart
Taiwo Adisa, Abuja - 13.12.2009
NOTWITHSTANDING the series of denials, Sunday Tribune can authoritatively reveal that loyalists of the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu are set to serve impeachment notice on the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola any moment from now.
As a prelude to the release of the impeachment notice, the State House of Assembly is set to release the report of a budget performance of the state in 2009.
Besides, a review of the budget 2010 estimates submitted to the House of Assembly by Governor Fashola has also been collated, and the Assembly is also set to release some damaging aspects of budget review to further dampen the governor’s bright image among the people.
It was also suggested to Fashola that it would pay him to be his own man and that merely tagging along as Tinubu’s ‘boy’ would be counterproductive to his politics.
Initial skirmishes according to sources were promptly resolved at the instance of the Oba of Lagos Oba Akiolu, who was said to have called the duo of Fashola and Tinubu together and asked them to work together.
While the initial dust settled, further disagreements were to arise from the award of road rehabilitation contracts by Fashola. Two major roads, the Lekki-Epe and the Badagry Expressways contracts were said to have featured prominently in the division that has crept into the midst of the Tinubu camp and Fashola, upon which the impeachment plot is being built.
It was gathered that while Fashola agreed to suggestions of his predecessor on the award of some internal roads to certain contractors, the Tinubu’s camp move to influence the award of the two major express ways met with stiff resistance.
While Fashola abandoned the control of politics to Tinubu, he focused on infrastructural development and the results started showing within the first year.
He instantly became the shinning example of governance in Nigeria and that, to the chagrin of the Tinubu camp.
Now as a way of curtailing the Fashola challenge, which is said to have eclipsed all achievements of the former governor, some contractors, believed to have sympathy for the Tinubu camp have slowed down their work in the last six months.
But a source said that Fashola was actually choked by the demands of his godfather, who it was said had made himself appear the man in charge of politics and government in Lagos State.
Some elders in the state said that Fashola had to lie low after reading the true nature of the political structure of Lagos under the Action Congress (AC).
Tinubu is the de facto leader and the determinant of all issues in the party. He also funded the election of all members of the House of Assembly and all of them see him as their leader.
They also continue to see Fashola as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff even two years after he became the governor.
A source said that that is the reason the Assembly members are angered after hearing of the skirmishes between Tinubu and Fashola.
Besides, Fashola has continued to rely on the media machine set up by Tinubu to project his government, while failing to court the media in his own way.
He is also said to have failed to allow what is described as a (jeun soke) lobbying regime, which would ensure that the political godfathers are well placed financially such that they could always allow the effects to trickle down.
The traditional institution in the state is also said to be suffering from the due process approach of Fashola, with no special favours going towards them, unlike the Tinubu era.
The lawmakers in the House are said to be particularly angered that while the governor is a product of the Tinubu school of politics, which places high premium on lobbying, Fashola has refused to allow them influence on the budgets, especially in a way that would afford them political patronage.
“This governor, unlike his boss, does not dispense political patronages. When he calls meetings of monarchs and political leaders, he will only shake hands with them at the end of the day. Some political leaders were angry after one of the meetings and they had to report to Tinubu, who pleaded with them and had to send ‘messages’ round,” a source said.
Other sources said that Fashola is not learning from his boss, who took the advice of some Alliance for Democracy leaders in 1998 upon his return from his sojourn abroad.
It was gathered that Tinubu was advised to take both the media and the traditional institution seriously if he was to make a headway in Nigerian politics. The source said that Tinubu took the advice and he is today a tiger in the media.
Apart from the failing political patronage, Fashola has also fallen victim of the 2011 calculations. Tinubu’s camp it was said, has calculated that Fashola would become a much more difficult customer if he is retained as governor in 2011.
He is said to have demonstrated single mindedness on crictical issues, especially issue of funding of AC outside Lagos.
It was said that Tinubu had directed the governor to take over the sponsorship of AC’s activities at the national level as well as its activities in Osun, Ekiti and Oyo States but that Fashola reneged.
Tinubu’s camp thus felt that Fashola would become much more difficult if he retains the office in 2011. Former Transport Commissioner, Muiz Banire is the favoured candidate to take over from Fashola, but the calculation, according to sources, is that the House can even get him out early enough through impeachment.
In view of Fashola’s rising profile among the populace, his traducers are resolved to take his sins to the public and then paint him as a corrupt man.
One of the sins is that his purchase of security helicopters were against the grain of due process and that the companies that handled the purchase is related to his brothers.
“The governor is going to be charged with nepotism and abuse of office,” a source said.
On the performance of the budget, the governor is being charged with failure to implement budgets as passed by the House and disregard for members of the House of Assembly, who see themselves as his seniors in the political party.
The result of the combined alleged failures of Fashola, it was gathered, is that the governor remains vulnerable to attacks both at the political end and within the media.
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji is said to be the arrowhead of the ongoing plot against Fashola and he was the first to blow the lid on the rift when he told the governor to beware of praise singers during the 2010 budget presentation.
But the government of Lagos State has continued to insist that the Fashola/Tinubu relationship remains cordial... |
