Is it that Nigeria knows other things about Corona that Cameroon doesn't? Why is Lagos and Nigeria still holding back? |
Speaking on Cameroon state media CRTV on Sunday, Cameroon prime minister Joseph Dion Ngute said president Paul Biya ordered schools that he closed last March 17 as part of measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus to reopen on June 1st because 3, 630 of the 6, 380 COVID-19 patients in the central African state have recovered from the killer disease indicating that the strategy put in place by the government to protect its citizens from the coronavirus is yielding posotive results. The prime minister said a majority of the 2, 300 active COVID-19 patients were responding to treatment and that enough measures have been taken to reduce the risk of contamination at school. “Let us not give into panic,” he said. “The ministers concerned have been instructed to ensure that protective masks are worn and that social distancing is respected. They should also make available the required sanitary kits such as hand sanitizers and hand washing buckets in each establishment.” Ngute said all schools will be disinfected at least three times a week and that schools that lack water will be provided with the liquid daily by the government. Ngute said not more than 24 children will be admitted in classrooms and that only one will sit on a bench instead of four or five as has been the practice. Psoul:I was reacting to your first paragraph. I was trying to counter that thought before some people start even considering it. |
Shakathezulu1:Mr man do your research and stop arguing like a baby. |
Please help private school teachers in your areas. Please! |
Psoul:Another wrong assumption by a casual. Private schools are not doing the government a favor. Without private schools, attaining the Millennium development goals for Nigeria would be impossible. Private schools have singlehandedly carried and still carrying education in Nigeria. Private schools and private school teachers need to be pampered and supported. Of course with the aim of getting them better. Like I always say, Nigerian government is still in primary 1 while her European and Asian counterparts are already graduating university. Bullying people is never the option. Unless you want to return the nation to anarchy. We are already seeing this in the form of bokoharam anyways. |
Shakathezulu1:This is a lie. Schools have since opened in USA and most countries around the world. There is proof if you still don't believe. |
gracevile:We advocated that civil servants too should stop getting paid. Many of them squealed. Saying things like: so because you are hungry, we too should go hungry. Not like what we were asking was wrong. It's just embarrassing that some people or idiots in government would not realize that civil servants were not the only people living in Lagos state and Nigeria. Now we have to scream for those idiots to see the picture. If your business is failing, kindly form an inprompto association and carry placard around the city. We might see the need to support your cause. |
dadebayo1:If you don't know anything about managing schools in Nigeria, please keep your unrealistic opinion to yourself. You are part of those embarassing themselves here. |
gracevile:Obviously, you don't seem learned. I would rather not waste any minute with you but just a little tip. The more strains of virus you get exposed to, the easier it is for your immune system deal with new strange ones. Mostly because most virus strains have a few things in common. Hence your immune system will recognize them and deal with them effectively. This is also why Corona hasn't become a pandemic here in Nigeria because we all point to each other as the dirtiest cultural group every time the question pops up. This is why native European families are advocating for not too stringent protection of their babies during their tender years. Let me speak your English.... European scientists advise parents to allow their kids to touch and play freely. Swim in dirt. Etc. FYI, being a mother doesn't automatically qualify you to have sense. So please get sense. You are messing yourself up in public |
gracevile:Kids are carriers of uncountable number of viruses. That is why they are more immune to new strains of infections in the first place. The school is the hope of the world. Knowledge is learned and immunes are boosted. |
gracevile:Is it not the same Parents that are already sending their children to backyard lessons? You seem to be lost in time. Wake up bro. The world has moved on. Parents are in fact in the fore front of this reopening campaign. Everyone is tired of kids being home all day. Of course there are a few undecided parents. Majority want to move on. You will see how filled up schools will become on resumption. You can keep your holy child at home and teach him/her by yourself all you want. Just be sure that we will come for you if you sexually harass or rape that little girl. We are watching. |
Prodigee:We have never really been prepared for anything in this country. But somehow, we scale through. We will open schools and life will get back to normal as safety precautions will be on top of the minds of school owners. |
Shakathezulu1:Schools around the world have began to open. It's like you don't follow the news at all. Even USA schools have started business. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html |
chatinent:Sir, Nigeria still has hope. However, this Corona pandemic exposed the elementary state that we presently are in Nigeria as compared to our western counterparts. Welfare, security, proper statistics, testing, composure, policing, technology, etc was 2/100 in how our administrators handled the Corona. Sir, we still dey primary 1 where developed countries already dey graduate university. We are just surviving on daily basis in Nigeria. Just as we have been doing since 1900AD. But Sha, there is still hope. |
Good news every where. Hotels, bars, club houses, churches, mosques etc are opening their gates. |
JAMO4REAL1:Bros, Corona dey o. Life and Business have to move on. We have to find a way to live our lives around it. Epl, MMA, Airtravel etc have found a way around Corona. Schools too will! |
THE RULLING BY THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION IS ONLY BINDING ON UNITY SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA. We urge the reputable private schools to make safety their watchword. Teachers should allow a good distance between themselves and the opposite sitted children Caution, safety, precaution. In fact, glue yourself to your white or black board. Please. Any sick child should be sent home immediately. |
Is it true that our teacher civil servants are saddened by this news? |
Lagos! Nigeria! Please release our schools o. Students, parents, teachers, Gate men, cleaners and everybody is tired. FREE OUR ECONOMY. You can't protect people dying of hunger anymore than allowing them to protect themselves. |
It is now official that schools around the world have since open for students and regular schooling. The United States of America which is the hub of the highest coronavirus deaths so far recorded has now followed suit. Schools are expected to allow themselves to be guided by recommendations of the CDC. Recommendations which are not binding on the schools but mere advisory provisions to individual educational institutions. Let's not compare this to Nigeria where guidelines are presented as rules and regulations. It is no longer news that coronavirus will not go away so quickly. This is a step in the right direction by the cdc knowing full well that safety is in forward moving precautious living. For core details on the cdc guidelines, follow the legitimate link below: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html |

GboyegaD:Based on your unrelenting ideology, I would assume that even physical sports that require body contact should now be played from home. Everything should remain locked down. Thankfully, sports is back because some people found a way around it. This is what private schools bring to the table. If we refuse to move, nothing will move. We have to find a way. Not remain like this forever. Obviously, Lagos government schools will probably not cope considering their overpopulated classrooms. Private schools, on the other hand, will excel. Come to think of it, without private participation in primary and secondary education in Nigeria, am very certain that the educational sector would not be as effective as it is today. The actual people keeping education alive are the people mostly not catered for. It's absurd. Lagos state government should get its priorities remodeled. |
SarkinYarki:This is how. Most government teachers and workers, especially those of Lagos state are Twitter workers. So whenever there is a public poll regarding enacting new government policies, they rush there and vote in their own favour. Many and most of the Lagosians really feeling the pain are not even on Twitter. Therefore the simple formula is this. Stop payment to the government workers and you will see public opinion immediately move in the opposite direction. Obviously, the only opinions are those of Twitter. (Government teachers) I hope this is explicit enough. |
ogawisdom:Your me-first mentality is the reason Nigeria will take years to catch up with other economies. How many people know government teachers talk more of getting loans from them. Your thoughts were poorly conceived. So because you and your colleagues are getting paid, every other person can die. You don't care. How many people have you personally assisted financially during this period. Just imagine the dirt spewing out of your mouth. Private school teachers and lecturers should engage in farming. Would you give this same opinion to your private school working dad? Churches should open so that we can pray for people that think like this. Honestly. |
Jung:I wish you got my point. I will try to explain it again
|
GboyegaD:Stop paying the government teachers and I guarantee you, they will start advocating for school reopening. I have nothing against the government teachers. But neglecting the non-government workers because you don't know how they survive is insane. Much of the public opinion that the Lagos government receives is from civil servants. No surprise he is being misled into horrible decisions. When you stop paying these Twitter civil servants, I guarantee you that the public narrative will change. You get my point now? |
GboyegaD:Your wisdom is rare. I don't envy you at all. BTW, Where do you expect the owners to get the money from? Is it the school owners that have also almost gone bankrupt? Please educate me. Where do you think the owners were supposed to earm the profit from to pay workers? I repeat, your wisdom is rare. Keep it up my man. |
I have always been a strong advocate for apc. Both at the federal and state levels. Now, with the way they are turning themselves to rulers and emperors rather than public servants and representatives, I might have to start actively discouraging people from this party. I repeat. I am not a party person. But looking at the trend, apc is gradually losing it. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO CHANGE. BUHARI AND SANWO OLU STILL HAVE 3 YEARS TO SHOW THEY CARE. COVID is not enough excuse to see a mass suicide due to hunger. SANWO OLU, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP. The PEOPLE SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST PRIORITY. NOT COVID. YOU ARE A POLITICIAN. IT IS YOUR JOB TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE US HAPPY. IT'S YOUR JOB. |
iluvdonjazzy:Apc is becoming relaxed. Am not a party fanatic but if they don't address this laxity soon, I see pdp in the helm. Not a better option but it should bring apc back to their senses. Look at other states. Oyo state comes to mind. If you don't want to reopen government schools, why not allow their private counterparts to go ahead. Are the private schools going to suffer the inefficiencies of the poorly administered government overpopulated schools? People are dying for heavens sake. But who cares because you are getting paid non the less. This has to stop. The government of Lagos state has forgotten his people. We deserve to live. I will be keenly looking forward to sanwo olu's near future actions with one eye and my voter's card with the other eye |
