“The Coup of January 15, 1966 Collapsed both the Federal and Regional Governments of the time, but coup makers did not get to power as they were stopped. The lot fell on the Military to step in to hold the Country together and stabilize what was going to become a chaotic situation. The Headship of that Military Government fell on the Supreme Commander of of the Army, Major-General Aguiyi Ironsi who was not a part of the Coup staged by Junior Officers (Nzeogwu and Co) in which he (Ironsi) was listed as a target by the Coup plotters.

Decree No.34 of 1966 (the Unification Decree) was merely an emergency measure to set up Governance Mechanism over the Country to be operated by the Military, hence for the Center, a Supreme Military Council (SMC) was set up and for the Regions, Military Governors were appointed. The SMC was basically the Head of State and Governors supported by the Service Chiefs.

Essentially, it was the ADMINISTRATION of Nigeria that was affected by the Decree No.34 of 1966 and not the STRUCTURE of the Federation of Nigeria as the Four Regions of the time remained intact, with their assets and their powers, only being administered by Military Governors who combined both the Executive and Legislative Functions of the Defunct Regional Governments just as the Federal Military Government (SMC) took over the Functions of both the Executive and Legislative Arms of the Defunct Federal Government.

The first time anyone tampered with the Structure of the Federation of Nigeria was on the 27th of May 1967 when the Four Regions were broken into 12 State via Gowon’s Decree No.14 of 1967 in the desperate attempt to stop the embattled Eastern Region of the time from leaving the Nigerian Union. That was the point Nigeria effectively ceased to be a Federation and became a Unitary State.

No one is being forced to join Biafra. In both Igbo and non Igbo parts of Biafra, there are many that want to join Biafra and those that do not want and that is the reason why we are calling for a referendum which will settle the matter.
It's only a YES or NO majority carries the vote. Moreover, in Biafra there will be a confederate system whereby every region of Biafra, Izon, Ogoni, Urhobo, Ishekiri, Igala, Igede, Anang and the rest will govern themselves and have access to 100% resources in their lands to avoid what may be termed as domination by others as obtains today in the zoo.

There will also be what we term as UAE system of investments/business as someone else already pointed out in this forum where by for e.g If you are an Igbo and want to invest/open business in Izon land, you MUST have to partner an Izon person whom will profit from your business based on general state law proposed percentage.
