The ninth anniversary of the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia will be celebrated on Saturday on the peninsula and in other regions of the country. On this occasion festive concerts, patriotic and charity events will be held in support of participants in the special military operation in Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin is to take part in celebrations marking the reunification of Crimea with Russia. As his press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters, an important cultural and historical object will be opened on the peninsula that day. The head of state is expected to join the ceremony via video link. The day before, the President's work schedule was partly devoted to the same topic. On Friday, Putin held a meeting on the socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol. The head of state traditionally takes part in festive events on March 18. In previous years, he attended concerts dedicated to this date in the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow, chaired meetings related to the development of the region and visited the Crimea. About Crimean Spring Nine years ago, the republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol returned to Russia after a referendum was held on March 16, 2014 amid a coup in Ukraine. In the end, 96.77% of the voters (1.233 million) in Crimea and 95.6% (262,000 in Sevastopol) backed reunification with Russia. In Crimea, the turnout reached 83.1% and in Sevastopol, 89.5%. The referendum was monitored by a group of 50 observers from 21 countries, including Israel, France and Italy. Most of the UN member-states refused to recognize the plebiscite. On March 17, 2014 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to recognize Crimea as a sovereign and independent state. On March 18, 2014 Russian President Vladimir Putin, Crimea’s Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov, chairman of Crimea’s State Council Vladimir Konstantinov and Mayor of Sevastopol Aleksey Chaly, put their signatures to the treaty on the accession of the new territorial entities to the Russian Federation. On March 21, 2014, the document was ratified by the Federal Assembly. https://tass.com/russia/1590625 Happy anniversary day Crimea

I just have a couple of questions. How does the psuedo 'court' warrant impact the SMO in Ukraine? No country can arrest a sitting Russian President for the same reason NATO is unable to pull a Libyan stunt in Russia. Russians do not need a foreign court to prosecute a former President and the ICC apprehended it's 'criminals' with the help of the felon's country of citizenship/origin/nationality(Congo, Ivory Coast and other similar countries ..I'll have to ask you to read in between the lines). The Russian President is the supreme representative and embodiment of the Russian Federation. In discharging his duties as the supreme representative of the Russian state, the Russian president can and has always routinely delegated these responsibilities to other govt officials e.g ministers/ambassadors etc. The Russian president doesn't attend international functions/events for the sake of adventure. The safety, survival and security of the Russian Federation and it's people is the priority of the sole priority of the Russian President and it's worth a lifetime dedication/sacrifice. So how does the ICC isolate Russia with thier warrant? Can someone please clarify? The ICC has only ridiculed itself as it'll lose face in the eyes of anyone that previously held in any (high/low) esteem/regard. They've set a precedent that proves that the law is selective (it is only enforced on the Weak e.g Congo, Ivory Coast). The fuss and hype around this story will die down within 14 days at most and it's back to life as usual (the dawn of a multipolar world with the war-mongering West choking and dying slowly from the anti-imperialist, Nazi and Neocolonialist battering potion specially prepared by Russia with the majority unwavering united behind her). The best reaction to this was to not dignify the ICC with a reaction but I have an appetite to satisfy. How does it impact Russia? How does it affect the SMO? It only proves that the West have ran out of options and they're now so desperate they're unable to see how thier actions makes them confidently stupid. I tried to keep a straight face but it's just so funny ![]() PS: pay attention to the bolded. They'll keep announcing 'game changer' weapons delivery for Ukraine every now and then.President Putin already knew this(the bolded) and yet he was willing to risk his position and by extension his life (US invasion of Libya, Iraq) ...what else do you think he wouldn't be willing to risk in defence of his people and country? That just makes the actions of these Western idiots so laughable. |
BidenDTrounce: BidenDTrounce:Loss of Artyomovsk may put question mark over Kiev’s control of other cities — MFA Dmitry Kuleba noted that the situation in Artyomovsk was "emotionally very complicated" for Kiev because of the Ukrainian army’s losses The loss of the city of Artyomovsk (Ukrainian name - Bakhmut) to Russian forces may produce a situation where other cities that are now under the control of the Ukrainian troops will also become vulnerable, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has said. "If Bakhmut falls, then other cities will follow," Kuleba said in an interview to the Ukrainian service of the BBC, published on Friday. "We must fight in Bakhmut as long as we can physically." Kuleba noted that the situation in Artyomovsk was "emotionally very complicated" for Kiev because of the Ukrainian army’s losses. He claimed once again that the Western allies were not providing military support to Ukraine quickly enough, because, he argued, they were not ready for a conflict similar in scale to the First World War. Kiev would like the allies to act faster. Kuleba said that Ukraine needed artillery shells from the West in order to send them to Ukrainian units in Artyomovsk first of all. ![]() https://tass.com/politics/1590239 |
Wow wow wow!!! Russian pilots shoots down American Chinese Balloon sorry I meant American spy plane. You guys still remember the US hysteria and paranoia with the Chinese balloons right? My takeaway from this.. The US incurred an unreasonable expense to shoot down those alleged very cheap 'flying objects' while Russia destroyed a very expensive piece of US junk without Russian pilots engaging thier armaments. This type of inexpensive take down just murdered whatever dignity and pride that may be left of the US overhyped/heavily propagandized millitary. E dey make my head swell. Na why I like to dey follow intelligent people..I learn from them. In addition to this, the Western economy continues to plummet sharply (even with bailouts) while Russia defied every grim economic predictions/calculations by the Western failures. |

It was stressed that the boundaries of the airspace restricted for flights were brought to the notice of all international airspace users and published in accordance with international norms Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu handed down an order to decorate the pilots of the Su-27 fighter jets who intercepted a US MQ-9 spy drone over the Black Sea area restricted for flights during the special military operation, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on Friday. "Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu has issued an order to bestow state awards on the pilots of the Su-27 planes who did not allow the US MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle to violate the airspace restricted for use during the special military operation," the ministry said in a statement. The boundaries of the airspace restricted for flights were brought to the notice of all international airspace users and published in accordance with international norms, the ministry stressed. The US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed in the international waters of the Black Sea on March 14. As Russia’s Defense Ministry reported, the American reconnaissance drone flew with its transponders switched off towards the Russian border and intruded into the area covered "by the temporary regime for the airspace use established for the purposes of the special military operation and brought to the notice of all users of international airspace and published in accordance with international norms." The US drone lost control "as a result of an abrupt maneuver" and crashed into the water while the Russian fighter jets scrambled to intercept the intruder did not employ their onboard armaments and did not enter into contract with the UAV, the ministry specified. According to the US version, two Russian Su-27 fighter jets intercepted the MQ-9 reconnaissance drone over the Black Sea and released jet fuel on it several times. Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Russia from March 20-22 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service said in a statement on Friday. According to the statement, the two leaders will discuss "pressing issues related to the future of relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China." The parties are also expected to exchange views on ways to enhance Russian-Chinese cooperation on the international stage. In addition, the Kremlin press service specified that "a number of important bilateral documents will be signed" during the Chinese leader’s visit. Putin and Xi Jinping last met in person on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Uzbek city of Samarkand in September 2022. In late December, Putin held a video conference call with Xi Jinping, inviting him to make a state visit to Moscow in the spring of 2023. Earlier in March, Xi Jinping was re-elected as Chinese president for a third five-year term. Putin said in his congratulatory message that Moscow and Beijing would continue coordination on key issues. The Russian president also expressed confidence that together with the Chinese president, he would be able to boost cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Following the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October 2022, Xi Jinping was also re-elected as General Secretary of the party’s Central Committee for a third time. North Korea has confirmed it fired two medium-range ground-to-ground ballistic missiles during its early Tuesday launch. Citing a report issued on the Korean Central News Agency, South Korean media reported Pyongyang carried out the twin launches as part of a demonstration for sub-military units to combat enemy targets. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported earlier Tuesday that the pair of launches, which occurred between 7:41 a.m. and 7:51 a.m. local time, saw the missiles fly a distance of about 620 kilometers. Surfaced photos from the launch appear to show what insiders have described as North Korea's rail-mounted KN-23 missiles. The Japanese government said there was no information about the fall of North Korean missiles inside the country's exclusive economic zone. The launch toward the Sea of Japan marked North Korea's fifth launch of 2023, and came just a day after South Korea kicked off its 11-day joint military drills with the US despite repeated protests by Pyongyang. North Korea earlier relayed to its military forces the need to kick up deterrence measures as a result of the US-South Korea military exercises, which it views as an intent for aggression against Pyongyang and its leadership. The current and looming drills set for later this year are expected to be the largest since the Foal Eagle exercises were held in 2018, under the Trump White House. Tensions between the US and North Korea have remained prickly since the days of former US President Donald Trump, who on multiple occasions referred to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as "rocket man" and on occasion issued nuclear threats against Kim. Although relations between the two countries did warm for a brief period under Trump, the eased ties were subsequently trashed after a series of failed negotiations and cold reception by the incoming Biden administration. https://sputniknews.com/20230315/north-korea-confirms-it-fired-two-medium-range-ground-to-ground-ballistic-missiles-1108402852.html |
Riyadh will not sell oil to any country attempting to introduce a price cap on it, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said in an interview with Energy Intelligence. "If a price cap were to be imposed on Saudi oil exports, we will not sell oil to any country that imposes a price cap on our supply, and we will reduce oil production, and I would not be surprised if others do the same," the minister said, commenting on the US NOPEC (No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels Act) bill. The bill gives the US administration an opportunity to file anti-monopoly lawsuits against OPEC members and their partners. In the Saudi minister’s opinion, the bill will lead to a misbalance in oil supply and demand on the global market. https://tass.com/economy/1588823 |
PREV Thread: Korea Announces Test-firing Of Two Cruise Missiles From Submarine https://www.nairaland.com/7608294/korea-announces-test-firing-two-cruise The launches came a day after Pyongyang test-fired cruise missiles from a submarine in response to US military drills in the region The South Korean military has said it detected the launches of two short-range ballistic missiles by the North early on Tuesday. The latest show of force by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) came as Washington and Seoul began major joint military exercises on the peninsula on Monday. Pyongyang has repeatedly said it views the drills as nothing short of a preparation for an attack on its territory. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted the Joint Chiefs of Staff as saying the rockets launched from the southwestern Jangyon area traveled 620 kilometers, before landing in the sea off the east coast. Seoul’s military condemned the launches “as an act of significant provocation that harms peace and stability not only on the Korean Peninsula, but also in the international community.” The statement cited by Yonhap also noted that Seoul will be keeping a close watch on its neighbor for any signs of “additional provocations.” On Monday, Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the country had launched cruise missiles from a submarine the day before – in what is believed to have been the first such test by the North. According to KCNA, successful test-firing “confirmed the reliability of the weapon.” The outlet said the exercise illustrated the progress the DPRK has made in ensuring it has “different” delivery options for its “nuclear war deterrence means.” The latest launches come against a backdrop of massive US-South Korea military drills codenamed Freedom Shield, which kicked off on Monday. The two allies cited a growing threat from the North, which fired a record number of missiles in 2022. The ongoing exercises follow joint maneuvers conducted earlier this year, some of which featured US B-52H strategic bombers. The DPRK had repeatedly warned Washington and Seoul against holding the drills, accusing the two of rehearsing a war of aggression against the North. Last Thursday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called on his military to be ready to engage in “real” combat “at any time,” as reported by KCNA. https://www.rt.com/news/572955-north-korea-fires-ballistic-missiles/

PREV thread: US Banks Collapses https://www.nairaland.com/7606783/us-banks-collapses#121661063 The country’s exports surged nearly 20% despite Ukraine-related sanctions Russia’s foreign trade surplus soared last year, driven by gains in exports, data from the Federal Customs Service showed on Monday. According to the agency, total exports in 2022 reached $591.4 billion, up 19.9% from 2021. Imports, meanwhile, slid 11.7% against the previous year to $259.1 billion. This brought the country’s trade surplus to a record of $332.38 billion, up 67% from $199.5 billion in 2021. Russia’s foreign trade turnover increased by 8.1% compared to 2021, reaching $850.5 billion. Energy products made up the bulk of Russia’s foreign exports, comprising nearly 65%, and amounting to $383.73 billion. The figure rose 42.8% year-on-year despite Western sanctions imposed on Russian energy supplies, as Moscow actively redirected them towards Asian partners, most notably India and China. (The Russians, Indians and Chinese people are the new world champions/real global power). Foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials exports were estimated at $41.3 billion, about 7% of total exports in monetary terms. Sales of ferrous metals, fertilizers, as well precious and semi-precious metals and stones amounted to $62.5 billion. Industrial equipment and mechanical devices represented Russia’s biggest import at $47.3 billion worth of goods, or 18% of all imports. Moscow also imported $35.7 billion worth of food products and agricultural raw materials (13% of total imports) and $29.8 billion worth of electrical machinery and equipment (11.5%). Western countries have passed ten rounds of Ukraine-related sanctions on Russia since last year, blacklisting hundreds of products which can no longer be sold to or bought from Russia, ranging from electronics to food. Restrictions have also targeted Russian financial institutions, making it difficult for the country to conduct transactions internationally. However, Russia has been actively redirecting its exports and securing alternative markets for products it can no longer buy from the West, which, along with successful monetary policy, allowed the country to withstand sanctions pressure. Russia’s Federal Customs Service stopped releasing trade statistics in March 2022, shortly after the initial impact of Western sanctions. However, the agency announced on Monday it will be partially resuming its statistics reports, which are now to be published monthly. https://www.rt.com/business/572887-russia-trade-surplus-record/

A submarine missile launch that Pyongyang’s media described as a success coincided with the start of massive US-South Korea drills. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has launched cruise missiles from a submarine in what is believed to be the first test of its kind for Pyongyang. It came days after the country’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un called on his armed forces to gear up for “real combat” amid increased military activity by the US and South Korea on the peninsula. In a report published on Monday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) revealed that the “underwater launching drill of strategic cruise missiles was staged at dawn on March 12.” According to the DPRK’s state-run media outlet, the test “confirmed the reliability of the weapon.” The two rockets traveled 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) before successfully hitting their intended targets in the Sea of Japan, known as the Korean East Sea in North Korea, KCNA reported. The article concluded by proclaiming that the launch “clearly showed the invariable stand of the Korean People’s Army to control with its overwhelming powerful force” the situation on and around the Korean Peninsula in the face of increased US-South Korea military activity in the region. The media outlet explained that Pyongyang is thus seeking to ensure it has “different” delivery options for its “nuclear war deterrence means.” In May of last year, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, citing the country’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, reported that the North had “fired an apparent submarine-launched ballistic missile.” However, prior to this week, the DPRK had not been known to test longer-range cruise missiles launched from an underwater platform. Sunday’s launch preceded the start of an 11-day-long joint US-South Korea military exercise under the name ‘Freedom Shield’ on Monday. Part of the drills involve ‘storming’ the enemy’s beach. Explaining the need for the show of force, Washington and Seoul cited a growing threat from the DPRK, which fired a record number of missiles in 2022. Earlier this year, the two allies held more military exercises, some of which involved using America’s B-52H strategic bombers. North Korea insists the drills are nothing short of preparation for an attack. Meanwhile, last Thursday, Kim Jong-un told his troops that they should be “ready to fight at any time and be prepared for real actions rather than words,” as quoted by KCNA. https://www.rt.com/news/572908-north-korea-cruise-missiles-submarine/

North Korea says it has test-fired two "strategic cruise missiles" from a submarine ahead of the upcoming US-South Korea military drills, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reports. Meanwhile, the South Korean military said on Monday that North Korea had launched one unidentified missile from a submarine, according to Yonhap. The missile was launched on Sunday from North Korea’s eastern coastal city of Sinpo, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said. The missiles were test-fired from the 8.24 Yongung submarine during an underwater drill held on Sunday morning, Yonhap said on Monday citing North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The missiles hit targets in the Sea of Japan after "traveling the 1,500 km-long [932 mile-long] eight-shaped flight orbits for 7,563 to 7,575 seconds," KCNA said as quoted by Yonhap, adding that the drill confirmed the reliability of the new weapon system and "verified the current operation posture of the nuclear war deterrence means." "While strengthening its monitoring and vigilance, our military is maintaining a full readiness posture in close cooperation with the United States," the JCS said in a statement quoted by Yonhap on Monday. Meanwhile, KCNA reported that the test was to confirm "the reliability of the weapon system and inspected and judged the operational posture of the underwater-to-ground attack of the submarine units." The agency also reported that the drills show the Korean People's Army ability to counter the "military moves of the US imperialists and south [sic] Korean puppet traitors." On March 9, North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile. At the end of February, North Korea test-fired two missiles from a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). Also last month, North Korea test-fired the Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The launch was carried out from the Pyongyang International Airport and the missile reached a maximum altitude of 5,768 kilometers (3,584 miles), covering a distance of 989 kilometers, according to the South Korean military. https://sputniknews.com/20230312/north-korea-announces-test-firing-of-two-cruise-missiles-from-submarine-1108321831.html

India and China competing for Russian crude The expanding pool of Asian buyers is pushing prices higher Chinese private refineries are jostling with their Indian counterparts for April volumes of seaborne Russian ESPO blend oil, Reuters reported this week, citing industry sources. After Western customers opted to shun direct purchases of Russian energy exports, China and India have become major buyers of Russian crude. China, which commonly purchases the entire volumes of the ESPO crude shipped from the Pacific port of Kozmino due to its close proximity, is expected to import record volumes in March. As for April, Indian independent refiners Reliance Industries and Nayara Energy have reportedly swept up at least five of the roughly 33 cargoes loaded with ESPO crude due to their low prices. That is up from only one vessel for March delivery, its first since buying three cargoes for November 2022. Prices for April-loading ESPO crude to India were about $5 per barrel below Dubai quotes on a delivered ex-ship (DES) basis, sources familiar with the matter told the agency. Reuters' calculations also show that the rising demand has pushed prices for Russian low sulphur ESPO blend bought by Indian refiners above the $60 per barrel cap set by the G7 nations on Russian seaborne crude. China has also been buying ESPO at above the price cap level. To reduce the risk exposure, importers of Russian oil are using currencies other than the dollar to settle certain niche Russian crudes and are also asking the sellers to handle shipping and insurance. According to trading sources, competition from India has reduced discounts for April-loading ESPO shipments to about $6.80 per barrel against the June ICE Brent DES basis to northern China from $8.50 a barrel last month for March-loading oil. Murban crude of similar quality from Abu Dhabi was traded at a premium of around $3.30 a barrel to Dubai quotes on a free-on-board basis, while April-loading Murban crude is about $9 a barrel more expensive than ESPO delivered to China and India. In March, Russian oil shipments to China are expected to reach an all-time high of nearly 43 million barrels, including at least 20 million barrels of ESPO. https://www.rt.com/business/572702-russia-oil-china-india/

The historic Saudi-Iranian agreement to reestablish diplomatic ties will prove to be a serious concern for the US, which has long sought to ensure Iran remains isolated in the Middle East, an expert told Radio Sputnik. Richard Becker, author of "Palestine, Israel and the US Empire," told Radio Sputnik's Political Misfits on Friday that the deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran would effectively serve as a "major setback" for the US as the two powerhouse nations work to resume diplomatic ties. Earlier Friday, representatives from Saudi Arabia and Iran met in Beijing, along with a senior Chinese diplomat, and announced that they reached an agreement to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries. The two sides agreed to host meetings with their foreign ministers, send ambassadors to each country and revive previously signed security cooperation deals and other previously abandoned agreements. "I would say first and foremost it’s a big setback from the US imperial point of view, and the point of view of the empire," Becker told show hosts Michelle Witte and John Kiriakou, noting that the development specifically puts a black mark on the US' continued efforts to keep Iran and any forces against the American agenda in complete isolation. Becker, who also serves as the West Coast coordinator for the ANSWER Coalition, noted that Saudi Arabia was “created by the United States and Britain back in 1932,” and that despite the litany of human rights abuses, Saudi Arabia is still considered a “strong ally” of the US. The reason for that, Becker said the United States has been trying to isolate Iran and other “forces of resistance in the region” for some time. “They have been trying to isolate Iran in particular,” Becker said. “They are trying to defeat the forces of resistance in the region, those who are resisting the US agenda and the Israeli agenda in the area. And that means Iran and some forces inside of Iraq, the government of Syria, the . Nasrallah-led Hezbollah movement in Lebanon, the Houthi movement in Yemen." "This is a big setback to that strategy of Isolation for Iran. It doesn’t mean the US is going to stop," he underscored. However, Becker further contended that China having brokered the deal is what is adding even more salt in the wound for the US in its imperial aims. “The other side of it was the fact that the agreement was reached in China, in Beijing. Who the US’ new leaders are targeting as their main enemy in the world, which also underlines how much of a setback this is for the United States,” he said. The "new leaders" referenced by Becker were national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Kurt Campbell, who serves as Biden’s top Asia hand at the National Security Council. "They are not happy about the latest news that’s come out," Becker said of the trio. "I think they can of course guarantee the security of Saudi Arabia… but one of the big questions will be whether the US will resume the Iran deal." The US has remained a non-partner of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action since the days of the Trump White House, which announced in 2018 that the US would withdraw over allegations that Tehran had violated stipulations of the Obama-era agreement. Although US President Joe Biden did promise to return to the deal once in office, he has yet to deliver, with latest talks stuck at a stalemate with negotiators. https://sputniknews.com/20230311/historic-saudi-iran-deal-proves-major-setback-for-us-but-raises-questions-about-jcpoa-lifeline-1108278478.html Next Major US tech bank implodes https://www.rt.com/business/572789-silicon-valley-bank-implodes/ Europe sees rise in food theft https://www.rt.com/business/572745-poland-food-theft-rise/
