Toju200: BAUCHI STATE GOVERNOR COMMENDS NAF AS SOC HOLDS REGIMENTAL DINNER NIGHT
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Operations Command (SOC), in line with the established traditions of the Service, held a Regimental Dinner Night at the NAF Officers’ Mess Bauchi yesterday, 5 July 2019. The Regimental Dinner is conducted quarterly in furtherance of one of the key drivers of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s, Vision which is "Focus on Comradeship, Regimentation and Inter-Service Cooperation”.
Speaking during the event, the Special Guest of Honour, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mohammed Baba, expressed delight to be at the Regimental Dinner and commended the NAF for maintaining its noble traditions while sustaining efforts to combat terrorism, armed banditry, kidnaping and other forms of criminality in the country. He said the NAF, under the leadership of Air Marshal Abubakar, had remained focused, dedicated and resilient in carrying out its statutory duties of defending the territorial integrity of the nation in a professional manner. He therefore urged the NAF not to relent in its efforts but sustain the momentum to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure. “As you continue with these responsibilities, I assure you that, I will further create an atmosphere for cooperation with you and other security agencies in the State”, the Governor added.
Earlier in his remarks, the CAS, while tracing the history and relevance of the Regimental Dinner Night, stated that the tradition began in the 16th Century in England where it was used to honour heroes and celebrate victories in battle. He added that the Dinners also serve as avenues to enhance officers' observance of etiquette, comradeship, regimentation and inter-Service cooperation in the Nigerian Armed Forces whilst also providing opportunity to unwind and celebrate achievements. He said it was fitting that the Dinner was being hosted to celebrate the achievements of the SOC, which was established to improve the ability of the NAF to respond to emerging demands of the national security environment as well as cover some of the capability gaps observed during NAF participation in counter-insurgency operations. He remarked that the achievements of SOC and its component units, especially the Special Forces personnel, in various Internal Security operations, clearly justified the establishment of the Command. Notwithstanding, he urged personnel of the Command not to rest on their oars in the efforts to secure Nigeria and Nigerians.
Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar remarked that the NAF had embarked on aggressive infrastructural development effort to provide better training facilities and decent living accommodation for the improved welfare of personnel. He said the NAF leadership would continue to support training and retraining efforts as well as sustain the focus on improving personnel welfare, especially for those in combat situations. The CAS therefore urged personnel to maintain the training facilities and other infrastructure provided in Bauchi. “You must also endeavor to remain within the ambit of the law and carry out your roles in line with the Rules of Engagement for the various Internal Security operations you are involved in”, he added.
The CAS seized the opportunity to thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the priority attention given to the training, operational and other requirements of the NAF. He equally thanked the Government and people of Bauchi State for their support and hospitality, especially the immediate host communities of Durum, Malmo and Kuhu, for the conducive working environment and good relations extended to the NAF. The CAS also commended the efforts of the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) SOC for providing the leadership that ensured the continued success of units under the Command.
Other dignitaries in attendance at the Regimental Dinner included officials of the Bauchi State Government, the AOC and principal staff officers of SOC, Commanders and Commandants of NAF units in Bauchi as well as other senior military officers.

Jelal0007: the ak 47 is known for its poor accuracy especially when engaging targets from afar. If we can't ditch the Ak-47, there are improved versions of the ak rifles that comes with better accuracy. To some extent..... In the hands of a marksman it's a deadly assault riffle. You see every weapon has its own PROS & CONS. |

Remember Tongo-Tongo is the location 4 American special forces were killed by terrorists.

ECOWAS CDS MEETING: GEN OLONISAKIN TAKES OVER LEADERSHIP, SEEKS COLLECTIVE ACTION AGAINST TERRORISM, OTHER CRIMES
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin has called for intensification of intelligence gathering, joint and combined operations in order to combat the security threats currently plaguing the ECOWAS region.
General Olonisakin who assumed leadership of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff on Wednesday at the ongoing 39th ordinary meeting in Abuja said collective efforts by each member state as well as collaboration with other stakeholders and partners in the pursuit of collective security and economic development will ensure peace and stability in the region through the platform provided by ECOWAS.
Listing the threats ranging from insurgency, terrorism to piracy, human and drugs trafficking, oil theft and other vices at sea, he said these security threats have been exacerbated by the proliferation of small arms, and light weapons occasioned by the numerous porous borders within the sub-region. General Olonisakin disclosed that the acquisition of these weapons has emboldened the criminal elements in their nefarious activities.
“The growing trend of local terrorist organizations affiliated with and receiving support from well known international terrorist organizations has also become very worrisome. This trend portends grave danger to our collective security. It is a matter of concern that terrorism and violent extremism have continued to threaten the peace and security of our sub-region. These security threats have been exacerbated by the proliferation of small arms, and light weapons occasioned by the numerous porous borders within the sub-region.
This threat calls for collective action on the path of each member state as well as collaboration with other stakeholders and partners. In this regard we need to intensify intelligence gathering, joint and combined operations to combat this menace. It is hoped that through this frequent interaction of ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff and our political leaders, our collective efforts at ensuring peace and stability in our region will be fruitful,” he added.
While emphasizing the need for more frequent interaction among the Committeeof Chiefs of DefenceStaff, he described the ongoing meeting as “another ray of opportunity to interact and avail ourselves the information and collaboration needed to better the cause of ECOWAS region.”
He expressed appreciation to Presidents and Commanders-in- Chief of the Armed Forces of the various countries in the sub-region for their unwavering commitments to ensuring that their various Armed Forces are provided with the wherewithal to execute regional responsibilities despite other competing demands.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Defence (Nigeria), Mrs Nuratu Batagarawa called for more training for the troops to enhance their operational capability. She congratulated General Olonisakin on his new appointment and promised the support of the Federal Government of Nigeria to the smooth conduct of the Command Post Exercise by the ECOWAS Standby Force scheduled to hold in Nigeria later in the year.
The Permanent Secretary who was also the Special Guest of Honour at the meeting enjoined the ECOWAS Standby Force to continue to support, cooperate and collaborate with the Nigerian military in the fight against terrorism and other vices facing the nation and the sub-region.
Also speaking at the event, the immediate past Chairman of the Committee represented by the Deputy CDS of Togo, Brigadier General Adjitowou Colman thanked Nigeria for the support, hospitality and other efforts in helping to secure the sub-region.
Enumerating some of the achievements of the committee, he mentioned strides made in Liberia, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali among other countries within the sub-region saying “we are laying the foundation for our Standby Force to be able to have a better reaction in the event of security challenges.” He asked for measures that will tame the terrorists hampering development in the region.
The Togolese military chief also called for field visits, exercises, more solidarity, joint actions and other efforts to monitor and evaluate the readiness of the troops. These he said will create stability in the region and resist the forces of evil from spreading.
The ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Brigadier General Francis Benhazin while also speaking at the event enumerated some efforts made by the commission in containing the crises that could have brewed from disagreements after local elections in some countries of the sub-region.
The meeting which continues tomorrow will evaluate the security threats in the ECOWAS sub-region and the surrounding nations while reinforcing multilateral cooperation among member states.

SLBMS: Guy...Chadian forces have been spotted in Borno on numerous occasions. The fact that they did not set up camp or left does not make it less than an invasion. Nigerian troops will not cross into Cameroon or Chad or even Niger without prior notification or authorization. The Chadians are walking tall..and can you blame them? Having the U.S and France set up shop in Chad makes the country virtually impenetrable. Chad has the most capable desert armies in the region. Mate that's not true, I dont know who gave you this false Informations. It's totally misinterpreted ! Am saying this because have been there not on what people say or Chadian Forces where spotted. It does not happen unless patrols or pursue of BH elements where been pursue into border towns. |

ugo4u: I don't know what point you're trying to make. The fact is glaring for everyone to see, the villages being rampaged are carried out by militant herdsmen. If you ask where herdsmen keep their cattles during invasion then you also have to ask where multinational oil coys keep their expatriates when tension escalates with host communities. That being said you can go to YouTube and look for a documentary done by TVC on villages raided by bandits and listen to eye witness account. Also if you had listen to channels 10pm news yesterday, a reporter covered the incident in Taraba, old women gave account on how their communities where raided and their people killed mindlessly they mentioned "fulanis". You won't feel the heat till a close relative fall victims to this senseless violence. OBJ talked about the activities of these marauders and everyone was lambasting him. Again I ask for how long shall we continue to play the Ostrich? Abeg just leave the dude alone- if is seriously pressed and pained he will create a thread where people could contribute positively. His acting like no one cares...... |

Today you are friends tomorrow you are no more, next tomorrow is sanctions upon sanctions and any other countries that dares to sell might be sanctioned as well.
