Army troops neutralized 8 Boko Haram in Borno failed attack, recover arms

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Borno, killing several insurgents and recovering arms and ammunition.

A military source told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday when terrorists advanced from multiple directions toward the base.

According to the source, troops who had taken ambush positions engaged the insurgents with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

“The troops demonstrated resilience and tactical superiority, effectively repelling the assault and immediately launching a counter-exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route, inflicting further casualties on the fleeing insurgents,” the source said.

He confirmed that no personnel of the Nigerian military was killed during the encounter, although one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

The source added that at least eight terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while troops recovered seven AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, four RPG bombs, and a cache of ammunition.

“Blood trails were observed along the withdrawal routes, indicating that several other insurgents escaped with gunshot wounds,” he said.

He further disclosed that injured personnel from the encounter were currently receiving treatment at a military medical facility in Biu.

Zagazola gathered that additional bodies of fleeing terrorists were sighted along their escape corridors toward the Timbuktu Triangle, a known insurgent enclave. We saw four more bodies,” said sources.

The military sources also revealed that abandoned weapons and casualties were observed in Garin Mallum and Garin Gajere, suggesting heavy losses suffered by the insurgents during the failed attack.

The military leadership urged to sustain the operational tempo, retain the initiative, and consolidate on the gains recorded against the insurgents.

NSCDC CG UNVEILS 5-YEAR STRATEGIC ROADMAP, DISTRIBUTES OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT, PRIORITISES PROFESSIONALISM AND TECH-DRIVEN OPERATIONS

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, OFR, mni, has unveiled a bold five-year strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening the Corps’ capacity for effective service delivery and national impact.

The roadmap was presented during a high-level strategic meeting with senior officers at the commencement of his second tenure, setting a clear direction for a more professional, innovative, and responsive organisation.

Reflecting on his first tenure, the Commandant General highlighted several strategic initiatives introduced to expand the Corps’ operational scope and inclusivity. These include the Female Strike Force, Safe School Initiative, Mining Marshal, and the Special Intelligence Squad, all of which have significantly enhanced the Corps’ presence in critical areas of national security.

He noted that his administration also prioritised staff welfare and institutional reforms, leading to improved morale and a more structured approach to training and career progression within the Corps.

Looking ahead, Professor Audi emphasised the urgent need to deepen technology-driven operations, stressing that modern security challenges require smart, intelligence-led approaches. He noted that increased adoption of technology will not only enhance operational efficiency but also reduce exposure to operational hazards and minimise risks to personnel.

In demonstration of this commitment, the Commandant General carried out the distribution of operational wears, surveillance equipment, and technological gadgets to Commands across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This, he noted, is in line with his vision to enhance operational readiness, ensure efficient service delivery, and build a positive organisational culture that will create a distinct and respected identity for the Corps within the nation’s security architecture.

The Commandant General expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the confidence reposed in him through his reappointment. He also commended the President’s sustained commitment to strengthening the Corps, particularly through support for technological advancement and institutional growth.

Professor Audi reaffirmed that the second phase of his administration will prioritise professionalism, discipline, and accountability, while strengthening public confidence in the Corps’ ability to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.

The strategic engagement underscores a renewed vision to build a technologically advanced, highly disciplined, and forward-looking NSCDC, capable of effectively addressing Nigeria’s evolving security landscape.

Troops uncover terrorist mass burial site, containing 8 ISWAP bodies in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered a suspected terrorist burial ground, weapons and a medical post during a fighting patrol in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out on March 21 by troops of 68 Battalion during an exploitation patrol in the Duguri general area.

The sources said the patrol, led by the Commanding Officer, was aimed at tracking fleeing terrorists and denying them freedom of action within the area.

“During the operation, troops discovered a fabricated mortar tube, a suspected terrorist burial ground containing about eight bodies, and an advanced aid post believed to have been used for treating wounded fighters,” the source said.

The discovery is believed to be a fallout of recent military offensives that forced insurgents to retreat from their positions in the area.

According to the sources, the presence of the burial site and medical facility indicates that the terrorists may have suffered significant casualties during earlier engagements with troops.

The troops have since intensified patrols and clearance operations in the axis to prevent the regrouping of insurgents and to sustain pressure on fleeing elements.

I totally agree with you regarding the acquisition of Artillery, especially those with long range capabilities.
But the NA should have there own attack platforms, if they can't get fixed wing assets, then they should have their own attack helicopters.
They also need rotary assets that can provide logistics/medic-evac, And also dedicated attack helicopter platforms just like any other standard army.
The Army isripe for it and the top brass have been clamouring for it for years, we all saw what the T129 ATAK did recently

COAS COMMENDS TROOPS’ RESILIENCE IN CLEARING IPOB/ESN THREAT TO PEACE IN SOUTH EAST

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commended troops of Operation UDO KA for their resilience, gallantry, and sustained offensive operations against criminal elements of the proscribed IPOB/ESN in the South East. The commendation was delivered during the Chief of Army Staff Special Sallah Luncheon held at Mother Valley in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, a location previously identified as a stronghold of the insurgents.

Represented by the Chief of Training (Army), Major General Valentine Okoro, the COAS conveyed the appreciation of the Army leadership to frontline troops for their unwavering commitment and recent operational successes. He noted that the troops’ ability to clear entrenched hideouts and dismantle terrorist networks, despite persistent improvised explosive device threats, reflects the Nigerian Army’s combat effectiveness and operational dominance in the theatre.

The COAS reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains a disciplined, professional, and mission-oriented force, resolute in its constitutional mandate to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensure the safety of lives and property.

He further commended the General Officer Commanding 82 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, for fostering synergy through effective collaboration with sister services, other security agencies, and host communities—an approach that continues to enhance intelligence-driven operations and deliver significant gains.

In line with the Nigerian Army’s “Soldier First” philosophy, the COAS also extended goodwill to wounded personnel receiving medical attention, assuring them of the Army’s continued support and commitment to their welfare and recovery.

The event underscored the Nigerian Army’s operational progress in degrading hostile elements and restoring normalcy across the region. The Army calls on residents of the South East to sustain their cooperation by providing credible and timely information to security agencies, as collective efforts remain critical to consolidating the gains recorded and achieving enduring peace in the region.

The Magnus MF212 with it's disgraceful 600 max take off weight is the more capable aircraft? grin
Only two aircrafts in that link fits COIN/Armed ISR and we have the best of it — Super Tucano.
I'm talking of NA Aviation, they cannot get that.

Magnus originally had a deal with NCAT to provide training aircrafts with local assembly before they pitched to NAF and later NA.

The MF212 is a waste of money for fixed wing. Slower, light weight and no track record.

Mwari is built for Africa COIN by Africans. Saffas will think I'm doing PR for them cheesy
Ill rather advised we go for the SU25, the NA needs dedicated attack platforms that can rain hell and give ground troops the adequate fire support they need.

Nigerian Navy has no excuse to not snap up at least a pair. Would last us until at least until late 2030s. Reintroduce fighting capabilities into our fleet.
The NN and MOD i know would never by any naval vessel with any form of missiles.
They're so obsessed with OPV's

TROOPS DOMINATE NGOSHE, ENSURE PEACEFUL EID CELEBRATIONS

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have once again demonstrated firm operational control over Ngoshe and Gwoza areas of Borno State, effectively countering terrorist propaganda and ensuring a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the axis.

In a desperate bid to remain relevant, Boko Haram/ISWAP elements recently resorted to spreading false claims of plans to overrun Ngoshe and conduct Sallah prayers at the Central Mosque, an attempt aimed at creating panic and projecting a false image of strength. These claims, however, clearly reflect a struggling group increasingly reliant on misinformation rather than capability.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly reinforced the area following an attempted incursion on 4 March and intensified clearance operations. The proactive response, supported by aerial surveillance and the cooperation of vigilant residents, disrupted terrorist movements and led to the neutralisation of several insurgents, further weakening their already degraded operational capacity.

Consequently, Ngoshe and the adjoining Gwoza axis remained calm, secured and firmly under the control of Nigerian Army troops throughout the Sallah period. Residents freely observed prayers and celebrated without any interference, further exposing the hollowness of terrorist claims.

In a strong demonstration of confidence and authority, troops led by the Commander 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General NI Abdullahi, joined worshippers to observe Eid prayers at the Ngoshe Central Mosque. This symbolic gesture not only reassured the populace but also underscored the continued failure of terrorist propaganda efforts.

The Chief of Army Staff have commended the resilience and cooperation of the local populace, whose support remains critical in sustaining the ongoing successes. Members of the public are urged to disregard and avoid amplifying terrorist propaganda, as such narratives are deliberate tools employed by weakened groups seeking to instill fear and undermine security efforts.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI will continue to sustain aggressive operations across the theatre to consolidate gains, eliminate residual threats and ensure enduring peace and security in the North East.

We've always been actually. That's what you get when both the political and military elites were nursed by either their society or universities.

Turkey, SA, Indonesia, Brazil and Argentina ought to be our buddies for development militarily.

Look at how long before the Tucanos came for example. Brazil even offered to send a trio before the orders could be completed.

I still nurse a hope Paramount Mwari will make it to NA Aviation.
Paramount Mwari;....Naa
I'll rather advice we go for a more capable aircraft both in rotary or fixed wing.
Don't forget that NA is already going for Magnus MF-212 surveillance/attack aircraft ?
There alot of light attack aircrafts we could go for; https://www.airforce-technology.com/features/top-ten-light-attack-aircraft/?cf-view
