CAS ADVANCES GLOBAL DEFENCE DIPLOMACY AND CAPACITY BUILDING DURING STRATEGIC VISIT TO CZECH REPUBLIC

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reinforced the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to modernisation, self-reliance and strategic global partnerships during an official visit to the Czech Republic from 23–24 February 2026. The visit underscored his deliberate drive to leverage international collaboration in strengthening training, sustainment and operational capability development in response to contemporary security realities. It further highlighted the NAF’s growing profile as a forward-looking and professionally adaptive air force focused on long-term institutional capacity.

During engagements with Aero Vodochody Aerospace, the CAS reaffirmed the enduring partnership supporting the overhaul and upgrade of the L-39ZA aircraft, which continues to enhance pilot training and operational proficiency. Discussions also centred on the NAF’s structured transition to the more advanced L-39 Skyfox platform, ensuring alignment of training systems with modern warfare dynamics while maintaining continuity in pilot development. High-level talks with the Czech Air Force expanded cooperation in training, simulator capacity development and logistics collaboration across rotary- and fixed-wing operations, reflecting a shared commitment to professional excellence and capability enhancement

Additional engagements with defence industry stakeholders provided valuable insights into advanced simulators, parachute training systems, unmanned aerial technologies and other emerging solutions critical to modern air power. Emphasising that contemporary defence partnerships must extend beyond acquisition to knowledge exchange and technology transfer, the CAS reiterated that sustainable modernisation requires innovation and local capacity development. The visit therefore delivered strategic momentum towards his Command Philosophy of leveraging innovation, emerging technologies and international partnerships to build a resilient, mission-focused and globally engaged Nigerian Air Force.

CAS SEEKS STRATEGIC TRAINING PARTNERSHIP IN LATVIA TO ADVANCE NAF PILOT DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, visited the Baltic Bees Training Facility in Riga, Latvia on 26 February 2026. The visit was aimed at assessing the facility’s capability to conduct standardised jet flying training on the L-39 aircraft for prospective NAF pilots. The engagement underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening the quality and standardisation of its pilot training programmes in line with global best practices in military aviation, while also representing a proactive step toward preparing NAF pilots for the expected induction of new platforms into the Service’s inventory.

During the visit, Air Marshal Aneke explored potential areas of collaboration with the Baltic Bees Training organisation to support the development of mission-focused pilot training and enhance the technical proficiency of NAF aviators. The initiative is also designed to support the long-term objective of strengthening the Nigerian Air Force’s capacity to conduct advanced jet training locally, thereby consolidating institutional expertise and improving the overall effectiveness of its air operations as the Service continues to modernise its fleet and expand its operational capabilities.

The visit aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, which prioritises deliberate capacity development, mission-oriented training and the continuous professional advancement of personnel to enhance operational readiness. It also supports the broader mandate of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to strengthen national security and create a stable environment for economic growth and national development. Through such strategic international engagements, the Nigerian Air Force continues to expand its operational capabilities and reinforce its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and security.

THEATRE COMMANDER OPHK PAYS TRIBUTE TO FALLEN HEROES, VOWS THEIR SACRIFICES WILL NOT BE IN VAIN

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, on Friday paid tribute to gallant officers and soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The solemn burial ceremony took place at the Maimalari Military Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Major General Abubakar described the occasion as a painful reminder of the true cost of military service.

“In the profession of arms, there are moments of victory that fill us with pride and affirm the strength, courage and unity that define our service. Yet there are also solemn moments that weigh heavily on our hearts and remind us of the true cost of service, as we have witnessed today,” he said.

Major General Abubakar said the fallen troops demonstrated courage, selflessness and unwavering dedication to duty, noting that their sacrifices were not only losses to their families but also to the theatre, the Nigerian Army, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the entire nation.

According to him, they gave their lives in devotion to a cause greater than themselves – the nation, the people and the ideals they swore to defend. They were brave, loyal and courageous patriots whose sacrifices will never be forgotten.

The Theatre Commander added that the troops fought with valour and upheld the finest traditions of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

They endured hardship so that our flag would continue to fly high. Their sacrifices remind us that freedom is not free; it is secured by the steadfast resolve of patriots willing to place duty above self,” he stated.

Major General Abubakar assured the families of the fallen soldiers that their sacrifices would not be in vain, adding that all entitlements due to the deceased personnel would be processed promptly to support their families.

He also extended condolences on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the families of the fallen heroes.

Also speaking, the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Security Trust Fund, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Yabe, expressed condolences to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and Operation HADIN KAI.

He described the deaths of the soldiers as a painful loss to the nation and commended the troops for their gallantry, resilience and commitment to safeguarding the state.

Professor Zulum assured that the Borno State Government would continue to support the families of the fallen heroes and the military in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials from Borno State, senior military officers from the Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Division Nigerian Army, the Commander of 25 Task Force Brigade, the Chairman of Damboa Local Government Area, as well as families and next of kin of the deceased personnel.

Troops of 3 Division liberate Mansur Village, Alkaleri LGA in Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III

Troops of 3 Division Nigerian Army have successfully liberated Mansur Village and surrounding settlements in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State as part of the ongoing Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III.

The operation, led by Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, targeted armed terrorists and criminal elements terrorising the local communities.

According to military sources, troops executed a coordinated offensive on identified flashpoints, dislodging terrorists who had attempted to seize control of Mansur Village. An AK-47 rifle was recovered during clearance operations, degrading the operational capacity of the insurgents.

Following the offensive, troops consolidated their positions and conducted patrols across Alkaleri LGA to maintain security and restore normalcy. Residents have reportedly begun resuming socio-economic activities in the area.

Military intelligence indicates that cross-border terrorist gangs operate within Plateau, Bauchi, and Taraba States, exploiting local terrains and engaging in fluid movement patterns to evade security forces.

The insurgents are reported to include high-value targets such as Mallam Lehi, Mai-Kunkuru, and Mallam Azuge, who operate in the Wase/Kanam forests and Jejin Madam axis.

The General Officer Commanding urged troops to maintain vigilance, stressing the importance of denying terrorists freedom of action while ensuring civilian protection.

Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III is part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to dominate insurgent corridors and restore peace and security in North East and North Central Nigeria.

NIGERIAN ARMY ACQUIRES 15 VANQUISHER LIGHT APCs; COAS REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR INDIGENOUS MILITARY INNOVATION

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s relentless commitment to advancing indigenous defence technology as a strategic pathway to enhancing operational effectiveness and countering insurgency.

This commitment was demonstrated on 4 March 2026 with the formal handover of 15 locally produced Vanquisher Light Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Nigerian Army. The platforms were manufactured by the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in collaboration with Vanquish Industries Limited and the Command Engineering Depot.

The COAS represented at the event by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi described the event as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for self-reliance in military hardware production.

The COAS emphasized that indigenous defence innovation remains critical to achieving combat readiness and operational superiority, particularly within Nigeria’s unique security environment. He noted that platforms such as the Vanquisher Light APC are specifically designed to address the nation’s operational challenges while strengthening the Army’s capacity to respond effectively to evolving threats.

Lieutenant General Shuaibu further highlighted that local production of military equipment will significantly reduce capital flight, stimulate the national economy and reposition the Armed Forces of Nigeria toward greater self-sufficiency. He described the ceremony as the first of many milestones in the Army’s sustained drive to promote homegrown military technology and innovation.

The COAS encouraged DICON to sustain its momentum in research, development, and the production of high-quality military hardware that meets global standards.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of DICON Major General BI Alaya expressed profound appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast support and confidence in DICON as the cornerstone of Nigeria’s military-industrial advancement. He also commended the COAS for his consistent backing, which he noted was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.

The Director-General further urged heads of security agencies and sister services to emulate the Nigerian Army by prioritizing and patronizing indigenous defence products in order to accelerate the nation’s military-industrial growth.

MILITARY AIR PRECISION BOMBARDMENT NEUTRALISES OVER 50 TERRORISTS AFTER ATTACK ON NGOSHE IN BORNO

The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised over 50 suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following precision air strikes on their withdrawal routes after a failed attack on Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the officer said the terrorists had, at about 7:30 p.m. on March 3, launched a coordinated assault on artillery positions in Ngoshe, a community located about 12 kilometres from Pulka and 31 kilometres from Gwoza town.

“The insurgents attempted to overrun the artillery positions in a surprise evening attack. Troops on ground responded effectively but conducted a tactical withdrawal under intense fire to preserve personnel and equipment while reinforcements were being mobilised,” he said.

The sources explained that the insurgents had adopted a hit-and-withdraw tactic, abandoning the scene before reinforcement troops fully secured the area.

The sources added that additional troops were immediately deployed, while surveillance platforms tracked the fleeing terrorists along identified withdrawal corridors.

“Upon receipt of real-time intelligence from ground troops, the surveillance aircraft were scrambled to engage the terrorists on their egress routes. The terrorists were sighted moving in clusters in both locations.

“Precision bombardment was conducted on confirmed target clusters and movement trails. Battle Damage Assessment indicates that over 50 terrorists were neutralised in two separate strike runs,” the officer said.

“The air-ground synergy under Operation Hadin Kai ensured that although the terrorists attempted to escape into forested enclaves, they were decisively engaged from the air.

“The strikes also disrupted their logistics and mobility capability within the Ngoshe–Pulka corridor,” he said.

The sources further stated that clearance and area domination operations were ongoing to forestall any regrouping attempts by the insurgents.

He noted that the Ngoshe–Gwoza axis remains a historically volatile corridor due to intermittent activities of Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants exploiting difficult terrain and proximity to cross-border forest zones.

“Operation Hadin Kai remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure. The message is clear any attempt to attack our positions will attract overwhelming and coordinated firepower,” he said.

He assured residents of Gwoza and surrounding communities of the military’s commitment to protecting lives, supporting resettlement efforts, and consolidating gains recorded in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in Borno.

Yes, you are right. I went back to see the video again and can confirm that that was indeed, an F15.

On a different note, one has to admit that the Iranians have a very difficult situation at hand. The fact they are still standing despite all that has happened to them, shows there are aspects to this conflict we don't know about.

Love them or hate them, you just have to give it to the IRGC, they are incredibly resilient! Even Trump himself is impressed with them when he wondered why they have not ''capitulated''/collaped.
Definitely, nobody thought they got that much balls, so far so good they've attacked US allies and other European country bases all over Asia, I think 15 defferent countries as been attacked.

NIGERIAN ARMY NEUTRALISES TERRORISTS, ARRESTS 20 SUSPECTS, RECOVERS ARMS AND LOGISTICS IN 24-HOUR NATIONWIDE ONSLAUGHT

The Nigerian Army (NA), in sustained multi-theatre operations across the country in the last 24 hours, has recorded decisive operational successes, neutralising 3 terrorists, securing the surrender of 1 terrorist family member, arresting 20 suspects and recovering a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, logistics, stolen crude, illicit drugs, rustled livestock and criminal enablers, in a relentless push to degrade terrorist networks and criminal syndicates nationwide.

In the North East and North West, troops neutralised 2 terrorists in Zamfara and repelled ISWAP/JAS elements in Borno, recovering one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, one PKT machine gun with 70 rounds of 7.62x54mm ammunition, as well as assorted logistics. Additionally, troops intercepted 5 fabricated rifles from a suspected gunrunner in Kaduna, arrested logistics suppliers in Borno and Kogi and safely diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Zamfara, preventing potential civilian casualties.

Across the North Central and Southern theatres, sustained raids and intelligence-led operations in Benue, Taraba, Abia, Cross River, Rivers, Delta and Kogi States led to the recovery of one pump-action shotgun, one double-barrel gun, one Dane gun, one MAC-4 rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, 9 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, multiple cartridges, knives, communication devices, motorcycles, cash and assorted charms. Several suspects linked to kidnapping, arms trafficking, drug peddling and impersonation of military personnel were apprehended and handed over for further action.

In the Niger Delta, anti–oil theft operations uncovered about 45,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil, 16 sacks of illegally refined petroleum products estimated at 960 litres, and dismantled two illegal refining sites with ovens, reservoirs and crude waste, dealing a heavy blow to oil theft and economic sabotage networks.

Furthermore, troops rescued kidnapped victims in Kogi State, recovered 58 rustled sheep in Sokoto, intercepted narcotics and arrested suspected collaborators of criminal gangs, reinforcing public safety and restoring confidence in affected communities.

The Nigerian Army remains resolute and relentless in its nationwide offensive, sustaining aggressive operations to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks, recover illicit weapons, protect civilians, secure critical national assets, and decisively rid the nation of all forms of criminality.
TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI CRUSH MULTIPLE ISWAP ATTACKS IN GAJIRAM, GAJIGANA , MAYANTI, RECOVER HEAVY ARMS AND AMMUNITIONS

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have once again demonstrated resilience and battlefield dominance by decisively foiling coordinated ISWAP attacks on Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Mayanti, Gajigana and Gajiram, while intensifying offensive operations across Sector 2. The failed assaults, launched between the late hours of 28 February and early hours of 1 March 2026, underscore the growing desperation of terrorist elements under sustained pressure on their enclaves, logistics corridors and leadership structures. While the attack on Gajigana was successfully thwarted troops maintaining full control of their position, the encounters at Mayanti and Gajiram resulted in significant terrorist casualties and the recovery of substantial combat equipment. OPHK’s sustained offensive posture continues to deny terrorists freedom of action, forcing them into disorderly retreats with heavy losses.

On 28 February 2026, FOB Mayanti came under heavy attack by a large number of terrorists. Gallant troops held firm despite intense enemy fire, as reinforcements fought through ambush and IED threats to rout the attackers. Exploitation confirmed five terrorist corpses and the recovery of three PKT automatic anti-aircraft guns, two RPG-7 tubes, four AK-47 rifles, two FN rifles, three RPG bombs and large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition, with blood trails indicating additional casualties. Sadly, an officer paid the supreme price. Similarly, at about 0115 hours on 1 March 2026, terrorists armed with PKT guns, RPGs and armed drones attacked FOB Gajiram but were repelled by determined troops supported by air assets. Three terrorist bodies were recovered along the withdrawal route, alongside four AK-47 rifles, five anti-tank bombs, three locally fabricated mortar bombs, one armed drone, six fully loaded 7.62mm NATO magazines, barbed wire cutters, specialised ammunition, poisoned arrows and other items abandoned in flight, while one wounded soldier was airlifted by a Nigerian Army Aviation helicopter for advanced medical care. In related offensive actions under Sector 2, troops engaged terrorists at Kayawa Village, forcing them to flee and abandon a tricycle, 3 motorcycles and five bicycles. Troops destroyed identified life-support structures, arrested two confessed ISWAP logistics suppliers and recovered drugs and medical consumables used for treating wounded terrorists. Additionally, during an ambush around Bulturam Corner and Dadingel in Gujba LGA, troops neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, a bicycle and other sundry items. All locations remain firmly under own control, and the scale of recoveries and confirmed enemy losses further underscores the degrading combat capacity of ISWAP elements.
