Wing Commander Chimda Hedima 1975 - 2014. On 11/09/14, a company of NA soldiers attempted to overrun a Boko Haram position in Borno. Due to the low altitude, the plane suffered significant damage from the terrorists' gun fire. Wing Commander Hedima and his partner realized that they were going to crash. Instead of hurriedly parachuting to safety within Nigerian controlled territory, they chose to embark on a mission to destroy as many terrorists and their weapons as possible. They parachuted out at the last minute but not before ensuring their plane slammed into a column of terrorists in which 63 Boko Haram members were killed as a result of their bravery. Wing Commander Hedima was captured. On 12/09/14, he was killed by the Boko Haram. He chose Nigeria, he chose all of us. We cannot forget him. Please share his story. His name should be known by everyone. Rest In Peace Commander, we are grateful. May you find eternal peace in the bosom of the almighty God. --------------AIT African Independent Television

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL MILITARY AFFAIRS HOLDS HUMAN RIGHTS WORKSHOP IN MONGUNO In an effort to deepen troops understanding and appreciation of Human Rights issues and their impact on military operations, the Army Headquarters Department of Civil Military Affairs have organised Human Rights Sensitization Workshop for officers and soldiers of 8 Task Force Division in Monguno. Declaring the workshop open, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Major General Nuhu Angbazo noted that the Nigerian Army is currently experiencing fourth dimension warfare; where the assymetric nature of the enemy has demanded that the army must work more closely with the civil populace, in order to understand, identify, engage and defeat the enemy. To achieve this strategic objective, Major General Angbazo added that "the Nigerian Army has embarked on this sensitization workshop so that our troops can become knowledgeable in the Laws of Armed Conflicts and therefore avoid those unprofessional conducts that could destroy their career and tarnish the good image of the Nigerian Army ". Earlier, the acting General Officer Commanding, 8 Task Force Division, Brigadier General Stevenson Olabanji commended Major General Angbazo for the timely initiative and assured him that commanders would use the knowledge acquired to fashion out professional approaches to their military duties, in conformity with the vision with the Chief of Army Staff which is to ''Have a Professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of it's constitutional roles".
