Troops clear camps, repel attack, neutralize two terrorists in Chikun LGA.

- Fleeing bandits kill three locals

Troops of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today at Kankomi, Chikun LGA, repelled an attack by dozens of bandits and subsequently neutralized one of the attackers, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Kaduna State Government was informed of the development in feedback which captured the bravery exhibited by the troops in overpowering the bandits.

The attackers made an attempt to infiltrate the location housing the troops. The vigilant troops in response engaged them in a fierce gun duel which lasted for over an hour. This resulted in the elimination of one of the terrorists, who was wearing military camouflage combat gear as can be seen in the attached photo. Others escaped with bullet wounds as evidenced by bloodstains along their withdrawal route.

The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, seven AK47 magazines, seven rounds of ammunition and five locally made grenades from the bandits.

Sadly, while exploiting the withdrawal route of the bandits, three corpses were found by the troops, apparently locals killed by the fleeing bandits.

In another development, troops of Operation Forest Sanity conducted clearance patrols along the Gwagwada-Chikun-Sarkin Pawa axis, stretching from Chikun LGA to nearby interstate boundary areas.

According to the report, contact was made with terrorists on a high ground ahead of Kafaiyo. One terrorist was neutralized, and an AK-47 rifle recovered.

Furthermore, two terrorists fled on sighting the troops, leaving behind their motorcycles which were recovered.

The troops completely dislodged several terrorists' camps around Kafaiyo, Dafako, Kopi and Gadani.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai received the feedback with sadness, and sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, while praying for the repose of their souls. The Governor expressed gratitude to the courageous troops for their resilient efforts and dedication.

Meanwhile citizens in the area are advised not to harbour or provide support to suspicious persons seeking medical attention for gunshot injuries. Such cases should be reported to the security operations room on the phone lines 09034000060 and 08170189999.

Aggressive fighting patrols are in progress in the general area, and citizens will be updated on further developments.

Signed

Samuel Aruwan
Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.

TROOPS ON SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS TO EXTRICATE ABDUCTED SOLDIER IN ABIA

The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to some publications making the rounds on social media and some mainstream media alleging that troops of Headquarters 82 Division NA invaded Amangu community in Abia state. Considering the weighty nature of the allegation, the Nigerian Army deems it necessary to clear the air on this atrocious incident.

On 2 November 2022, a soldier named Staff Sergeant Bassey Ikunugwan, who was officially on leave pass, was abducted along Road Okwu-Ebem Ohafia in Abia State. Consequently, on Thursday 3 November 2022, acting on credible intelligence report, troops embarked on a Search and Rescue Operation at Amangu Village/Forest, having confirmed same as an Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) enclave, where the soldier was reportedly held hostage. During the search and rescue operations, contact was made with members of the proscribed armed groups resulting in exchange of fire.

In continuation of the search and rescue operations, on 4 November 2022, troops deployed at Okon Aku in Abia State came in contact with members of the armed groups, during which troops neutralized one of the criminals and recovered one AK 47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 7 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) and one mobile phone.

In a follow up operation on 5 November 2022, troops raided another enclave of the groups around Amangu Village in Abia State. During the operation, troops neutralized two of the criminals, while some fled with gunshot wounds. Troops recovered two locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, four Pump Action guns, one locally made Pistol, one Sniper rifle, six magazines, 13 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and one Motorcycle.

Other items recovered from the dissidents are 2 CCTV cameras, one solar panel, flags, one walkie-talkie, 2 mobile phones, two pamphlets of Biafran anthem, one INEC box, 12 face caps, machetes, pairs of combat boots, pairs of rain boot, camouflage uniforms, one transistor radio, two jungle hats, two knee guards, one power bank, one INEC image capturing machine and a PVC. Sadly, during these engagements, one soldier paid the supreme sacrifice.

The NA will leave no stone unturned in the search of the abducted soldier. The NA assures the general public that all operations will be conducted within the ambit of the law and in line with global best practices, Rules of Engagement and Code of Conducts guiding NA operations.

It should be clear to all that criminal acts of attack on and abduction of service personnel is an act against the State which will not go without consequences. The recourse to employment of propaganda by these criminal elements will not deter the Army from carrying out its constitutional mandate. Law abiding citizens of Amangu community are also advised to go about their legitimate businesses without panic, as the military is always on ground to protect lives and properties.

In 2015, Nigeria spent N4.9bn importing military gears and uniforms from Turkey and elsewhere. In 2019,President Muhammadu Buhari invited the Turkish company to build a factory here in collaboration with DICON in Kaduna to produce 1.2m military gears annually. Before this new factory was built in Kaduna, existing military factories were revived to boost production locally in line with Executive Order 03 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Now we will have the capacity to produce military uniforms for other African countries while over 1002 are employed, as the cotton for feedstock is available in the Northwest .

Where is the Nigerian army in all of this?

Did the army leave the group chat?

Please FG should not purchase more MRAPs except if we are buying from Proforce.

The Nigerian army is in need of Tanks, Artillery, IFVs, Tank Destroyers and Anti-Tank systems.

The military army and navy got a large number of logistics vehicles, which have been put to use in dealing with the flood problem.
Honestly the NA top brass for me......... huh huh huh
I expected more MBT, AFV/IFV/MRAPs both wheeled and tracked types. Am having mixed feelings; am glad the airforce is getting more modernized and the army is somehow way too slow.
