CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF FLAGS OFF END-OF-YEAR EXERCISES

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, today Tuesday 18 October 2022, flagged off three exercises, namely Exercises Still Waters, Golden Dawn, and Enduring Peace aimed at tackling security challenges across the country.

The Exercises, which target mitigation of security challenges in the South South, South East, South West and North Central are to run concurrently across the country.

Flagging off the exercises at the 6 Division Step-up Headquarters in Ahoada, Rivers State, the COAS stated that the exercises were specifically conceptualised to
meet security challenges peculiar to their areas of responsibility in the respective regions.

The Army Chief pointed out that the exercises involved team operations with other Services and security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Airforce, the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, amongst others. He added that the synergy amongst the services and agencies will provide the opportunity for them to bring their special competencies to bear in the operations.
Gen Yahaya further stated that each exercise will address issues unique to their areas of responsibility. "The one here will among other tasks address the issue of oil theft", he added.

The COAS equally expressed optimism that by the end of the exercises, they would have engendered more peaceful and harmonious atmosphere for the yuletide and conduct of violent free elections. He however warned that the troops must remain apolitical and not allow themselves to be derailed.

Earlier, the Chief of Operations (Army) Maj Gen Tunde Akinjobi, while giving highlights of the exercises, said it will adopt both kinetic and non kinetic approaches to make it friendly to law abiding citizens. He called for the cooperation of members of the public to enhnace the attainment of the exercises' desired end states.

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Olufemi Oluyede, whose Division hosted the flag off, assured that the Division would be resolute in the pursuit of its mandate, in order to achieve the objective of facilitating conditions suitable for socio economic activities to thrive.

At the least for the first time we know from the Obi policy document he'd set up a Ministry of Homeland Security with a Fusion Centre under the Minister of Homeland Security meaning he's identified the gap that hitherto existed between intelligence gathering, collation, analysis, force employment and deployment — on a need to know basis. I find that a total cracker just as his assertive foreign policy initiatives to re-establish regional influence.

Interesting to know the foreign, military and security policy of the other major candidates.
Nice pics you've got here and honestly speaking it's high time we have a ministry for homeland security, the earlier the better.
But please don't let us dangle into politics here smiley wink

GabrielYulaw:
Actually, I think you are wrong.

Pirates usually employ speedboats and stage hit-and-run attacks. These speedboats are hard to pick up and intercept.

Oil theft on the other hand is carried out with supertankers. These supertankers are slow and almost as big as aircraft carriers and they spend many days loading up with stolen oil. There is simply no way on this green earth the navy doesn't see these supertankers on their radars and sensors. It is just impossible because these ships are simply far too big to miss.

According to information in public, we are losing up to a million barrels of oil per day and I don't want to think about how many billions of barrels we have lost over 8-9 years. Not one measly supertanker has been caught that I know of. The only possible explanation is that those supertankers engaged in oil theft are vertical take off and landing UFO ships that descend on landing pads in the creeks and then vertically ascend and zoom off.

The only other possible explanation is that this is a very organized operation that reaches the highest echelons of the presidency. If that is not the case, the heads of the navy would have long been fired and charged with treason. If that is not the case, measures would have long been implemented to make largescale oil theft just about impossible.
You totally got what am saying wrong, I was laying emphasis on the terrain, the creek could always possess a perfect hiding place for this hudlums and a perfect terrain to lunch an ambush !

The best way to monitor the creeks in modern times is not actually through difficult water terrains but through air surveillance.

If our forces can stop piracy, how come stealing of oil have not been stopped or detected by our force.

Obviously something is wrong .
Tackling piracy in the high sea is not difficult If you are have the appropriate hardwares but deep inside the creeks is difficult even with right tools.

Attention, any forumers currently based in Western Europe.

Autumn is here. Within a month it'll be averaging 5 degrees celsius and real winter follows in Dec as you know with occasional 0 or even as low as -5 degrees celsius.
The Western leaders have shown their true loyalty to the architects of the J/Uke mess by advising their citizens to collect firewood.

Whether a single fireplace can heat a 3 bedroomed flat is ofc another story but things may turn biblical-already the Swiss,Germans and Dutch leaders are advising on limiting showers. The inevitable consequences are terrifying- faced with freezing citizens who they already don't give a rat EFF about your survival as a black foreigner may be definitely problematic.
Pls,organise a contingency plan now! When and if the freeze happens Dutch,Belgian,Swiss and German citizens abandoned by their respective governments will ofc be concerned primarily with their own people. Idk if it'll be a purge;it may very well be- I only know if this path continues there may well be a real life W European Ice Age.

Seriously speaking, I don't see the usefulness of this type of drone in today's battle.
There has never been a record of this type of drone been employed in battle of recent anywhere in the world.
To me it is a toy
My personal opinion tho.
Am referring to the songar mini drone
The Bayraktar TB2 is a proven drone for its price tag compared to other western or Europian type. I remember few weeks/month where a US MQ-9 Reaper Drone was shot down in Benghazi.
There is no UAV drone that can be shot, no matter how stealthy they are.
For countries who can't afford expensive high tech done: Bayraktar is a self proven solution. The Armenia–Azerbaijan border crisis was a theatre that UAV drone played a very important role.

Like you said it's your own personnel opinion and I respect it but the Bayrakhat drone is a pain in the ass.
