Please for those that applied in abuja, how many emails are we to receive? Do they send emails at each stage of the visa process? My telepeformance status hasn't changed and I just completed the third working day. Is this normal?

PTA (Personal Travel Allowance) affords you the opportunity to buy dollars directly from a bank, using your naira account, at the bank's official rate.

I know some banks used to allow non-account holders to buy from them also, though at a higher rate than account holders. Don't know about now though, since the recent squeeze on fcy transactions BO CBN.

It's major plus is dt u don't get charged exorbitant rate for your fcy needs, as would have been obtainable when u buy from BDCs and blackmarkets.

If I may advise, I'll say you buy PTA basically to meet your "pocket money' needs. If u have other bills to pay, say accomodatn etc..try and push as many of them as possible under Form A...reason being that, with PTA, u buy at bank's official rate while with Form A, you buy at CBN official rate, which is way way lower than most bank's official rate.

To buy PTA, you need the following;

Your Visa, Data Page of your Int'l Passport, Flight Ticket and of course, the bank wld give u an application form to fill.

And there is nothing like tier4 in the options.What should i do pls? thanks

Hello, I have been following this thread for a while. First ever post. I picked up my teir 4 visa today at ikeja, with my wife's too, despite she has been denied a visit visa before. Applied on d 3rd of august. Please anybody going to Glasgow? I am getting a flat so I need a flat mate, I previously studied there..so I can easily get a flat. Thanks to everybody

I got my Visa today, thanks to everyone and justwise, spikesC, scoobs who contributed actively here. It took exactly 11days after application for my documents to be returned to me. I submitted my application on Monday, 3rd August ie last Monday at TLS Ikeja, got decision email yesterday and received my documents by courier here in Port Harcourt, for anyone feeling discouraged or whatsoever, just be patient and follow instructions, you will get yours. Glory to God.

Worry357, thank you for your response, but I think you misunderstood me. I meant does the money need to have been there for 28 days before I submit my online application or for 28 days before I go for the appointment? My money will have been there for over 28 days by the day of my appointment, but on the day I applied online it hadn't reached 28 days yet.

Thanks to all for the wise counsel.

THE THINGS I learnt.

*Submitted application online on 20/07/15 (Salah public holiday) V.I VAC (church gate)
*Booked interview date on 21/07/15 (The next working day).
*Visa Received in Sheffield 22/07/15 via mail confirmation of receipt.
*Decision mail sent on Sunday 02/08/15 (which obviously isn't a working day so I assume decision was actually made on Friday 31/07/15)
*Total number of working days application lasted *9days*

Findings!!!
Ikeja fast visa processing to me is just a fluke.
if everyone thinks its fast and moves there just to get it fast V.I VAC thus becomes scanty with less application. would UK Sheffield abandon all applications just for Ikeja Centre ?? BIG NO. rather they only give priority to priority visa applications as stated on there web.

**My advice, pay for priority visa application if truly you want it faster rather than think that applying at Ikeja VAC would guarantee that cos it surely don't.

Reason: Teleperformance don't have any proven influence on visa application, submission or decision they are only a medium for applications and collection. "A legal UK VISA Agent"

For Example. I got mail of my visa being received at Sheffield from Sheffield Centre but teleperformance informed me after 24hours.
Decision mail was sent by teleperformance after I already received it from Sheffield UK 3days earlier. Thus, They only have information probably after the applicant had received such.

ON FOREX.
I bring Good news.
The CBN has relaxed its restrictions on issuance of PTA (Pocket Travel Allowance) hence you don't need to buy your foriegn currency from BDC at least for $4,000 equivalent.
However , don't bother using GTB as you would be disappointed as I was when I visited there overall head office in V.I Lagos.
I finally used FirstBank Marina Lagos.

REQUIREMENT: visa page of passport and flight ticket (return).. sometimes admission letter for tier4 visa.

FLIGHT BOOKINGS:
WAKANOW.COM: They did a good job in placing my bookings tho the customer care finished my airtime before attending to my call. However press 2 which is for reservations rather than 7 which is enquiry (That way they know its biznes) or transferring to an agent just like calling 180 on MTN.

I saved #210,000 with my idea of getting to London first then to Aberdeen via sleeper train...Tho sleeper train is same cost with flight £80. but for my luggage.

I hope someone finds this tips helpful.

Sorry bout all your delays and expenses. You sound like you fell into the hands of touts waiting outside. I informed them I didnt want courier or express service.... Pele.

I didnt pay a dime to anybody. I had all the documents and d correct passport photograph with me.

I also gave out the birth certificate freely even though she said it wasnt important maybe bcuz it was my statement of account.

The only time I had an issue during d interview was when I was asked for the time of applying for the course and when I got a response from d sch. I had to tell her 2 months ( april / may) , she said she will confirm from the school.

Okay I have settled down, now let me give a recount of my day.

I had to take a new set of passport photographs for 1k, photocopy my data page for 20naira, print my appointment letter page for 500 naira (exploitation of the highest order!) because I didn't know I had to do that again. Then when I asked if I had paid for courier because I has earlier indicated my interest I was told no. Had to deposit money into my gtb account (I had to leave the center for almost 45mins), came back tried to pay and got my card deactivated. I was too annoyed and tired to go outside again to call gtb so I went for the documentation.

While I was waiting I started shivering because the place was too cold for me. Finished biometric and went for the interview (I have written the questions I was asked in an earlier post). I think they are asking different questions based on your application.

I had a bit of an issue with the interviewer. She kept telling me to slow down when I was speaking. When I am passionate about something I speak like an express train without brakes....lol. I had to apologize a few times.

Documents I submitted: my cas which had my bursary/scholarship and tuition deposit, my bank statement, my certificate and birth certificate (which I am not comfortable dropping), my sponsor letter and my sponsor's bank statements. I didn't drop my waec certificate and i am a bit worried. Oh well, we shall wait for 10-15 working days which must become 3-5 working days o. After almost 20k they had better make it express service o else....

Awaiting result now....

but I had to fill a 'get it right' form after the interview because I didn't submit any test of english requirement just waec as stated by Coventry University.

Just paid 500 naira to print out my appointment letter because I didn't know better. I printed the application but not the letter. I hate being exploited!!!

Then they have to be specific about the location they would be schooling.for instance someone mentioned leeds and bradford and she was given an idea,what to expect.even got someone that wanted to sell books abi accommodation.someone mention norwich and got no concrete idea.someone mentioned conventry and he got someone going there and other stuff including shieldfield hallam university with ideas where to stay etc.
And people started reading upsidedown that coventry is a good uni lols.
