Oh amateurish? Lol pique learnt his craft under the tutelage of Guardiola, went to United to fine-tune it but it turned out a misadventure, he had to run back to Barca with his lamasia teacher now at the helm, and u here trynna make me believe ferguson did a jack to help with his development? If u had mentioned Bartra and Tuchel, we would have a worthy debate sir. U goofed big time here, i'm sorry. Trying to change Goodjoe views about what Pep the bald one has done to kelechi is like trying to squeeze a stone to get milk. TheGoodJoe: Because of Bias and Hatred, see the negative prayer topic someone wants to have for our key player. That is what hatred does.
Move on and pray for a huge and explosive career for Iheanacho. Guardiola, just like Pellegrini and Viera, Manu Garba, Ugbade and Amunike are part of Iheanacho's history.
He learnt and improved from them all. Very typical of you not to understand what people are typing before you post, always looking for an avenue to use that blue font. With what you have been typing since time immemorial, who have been biased between us? it's patently obvious you share the same bed with Pep the bald one. |

I can't believe a Nigerian will still appreciate or try to attribute anything to Pep on the development of Kelechi. it's like I should change my prayer for kelechi not to have an explosive start so that only curses will be attributed to the bald one for stunting his growth (but that will be wicked of me to do) |

forgiveness: If you like make you roar like Lion. You have been found wanting with multiple lies.
Now, you are telling another lie intentionally by claiming Martins was the first choice striker in that era.
Do you want me to bombard you with facts again?
You were caught pants down when you said Martins was lost in some of those matches because you wrote it to justify your claims.
Here you are running away from that facts and claiming your focus was only on the AFCON.
Oga! What position did Martins play in that tournament?
No so you lie say Martins came to strike against Swaziland in the goalless draw match which is not true.
Now, let us test intelligence.
If player failed woefully in the qualifiers, can he be trusted to play in the main tournament?
That is common sense and logical analyses. It's different from the one you are portraying, Mr intelligent.
Iheanacho has failed woefully in the two qualifying matches as a CF but thrive beautifully well as a SS. Is that too difficult for you comprehend?
He may be the best in the EPL as a CF but in the National team, he has failed to impress in that position.
Owobokiri was one of the best CF in Europe but flunked big time at the National team level. That's is case with Nacho.
You said Martins was woeful in those two matches against Swaziland but the player ratings above proved otherwise. If you are blind to see, the world has seen it.
Therefore, you opinions are noted but inconsequential. Sorry.
@bolded 1, YOU ARE NOT AN AUTHORITY IN THIS REGARD. You and I are mere spectators. Ntor.
@bolded 2 is unnecessary. Shows alot about one calling one childish.

Dedebanky85: In the next 3 months I expect to see hin with Mohawk with his head fried and all that. Nithing against the hairstyle as I've also worn it in the past but I'm just trying to point something out that Nigerian players tend to lose focus once they've gone abroad especially this newer generation players. I hope Obinna is focused cos I see massive potential in this boy. I really liked his MF combo with Matthews and idowu in Senegal. Talking of Idowu where is that very disciplined number 4. That is too disciplined that I know he could go his whole career without ever scoring a goal but u damn sure not to concede as many. Lol... I can relate with what you are saying about the hairstyles don by most Nigerian players abroad. The hairstyle was one of the reasons I left football due to the fact that diminutive players like me(back then) weren't imposing and menacing with our stature to our opponents so back then my coach do instruct me to keep dreads and encouraging beards and moustache growth. I could remember then, I was always dropped in games or at least I will be introduced when the match is all but lost, I was turned into a training material despite the fact that I was a baller all because I wasn't too imposing and my beards or moustache refused to grow ( I was 17 and I wonder how my coach will need me to grow beards at that prepubescent stage). most players do that to be menacing to their opponents. |

TheSuperNerd: West Ham Submit Improved Bid For Iheanacho As Leicester Boss Identifies Him As Prime Target
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_3083.jpg
The race for the signature of Manchester City Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is hotting up as West Ham have improved their offer for the 20 year old who is also a target of Leicester City.
According to Skysports West Ham have improved their initial offer for the striker and it is reportedly close to what Manchester City are demanding aside the issue of the buy back clause.
Manchester City are yet to respond to West Ham offer with manager Pep Guardiola not keen on letting the forward leave unless a replacement is bought as exclusively reported by this portal.
However Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has according to various reports pencilled Iheanacho as his top target in the summer transfer window as the former champions aim to bounce back from the disappointment of last season.
It appears both teams are going to be the front runners for his signature despite the reported interest of Crystal Palace who are also set to be mulling over a bid for the 20 year old.
**Daniel Martins

TheSuperNerd: Nicely said Sir Joebie.... nicely said indeed.
You see for years since I started following the beautiful game, Africa has always come up short because we somewhat just refuse to get grounded in the science of the game. This has been a problem for years and decades upon decades upon decades long before I was even born.
But thank Goodness for Information that is readily available to us all. We can make things Right. Some of our coaches are beginning to recognise thus science of the game stuff such as Nduka Ugbade, Manu Garba and Amuneke. Information rightly applied is indeed power.
Okay so we have Rohr and his team of Experts and I hope they bring their knowledge to the fore in full volume because this super eagles team has the full potentials to execute great formations like 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2, and whatever else..... even the 3-4-3 can be executed if mastered enough based on the depth of playing personnel we have that can execute such roles.
But talking 4-2-3-1 mainly..... or even 4-3-3 or 4-4-1-1.... You are right that it is much more about Roles assignments and I will also add, "near perfect" to it.
Ndidi is a dmf, yes but has the potentials to operate as a CMF.... he's got a better range of passing compared to Ogenyi Onazi. And he also got a fair high level of Great Vision too.
Now Onazi on the other hand is a destroyer.... he does the dirty work and is good at laying off those short passes to the other midfielders around him in more advanced roles. Onazi is an asset when a team wanna win the balls and gives his midfield partners a fighting chance to work out team plays of their own.
Now the big question is.... Who should be our no.4?
Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi who also got great potentials as a CMF in addition to his Primary DMF portfolio... Orrrrr... Ogenyi Eddy Onazi, who when disciplined can give a remarkable as the no.4 as he did at Afcon 2013 where Mikel was playing deeplying playmaker/CMF allowing Sunday MBA bomb forward as the Roaming AMF and Onazi doing the destroying work and laying it off with quick timed short passes for Mikel to spray the passes to the wingers or the center forwards.
Or thinking wider beyond those Two above... Should we bring in Azubuike Okechukwu, who is a DMF with good playmaking skills/abilities??
or Should it be Mikel Agu of Fc Porto who is a destroyer-like battler and also good as a ball playing DMF.... or the KAA Gent Lad, Anderson Esiti who is very good as the midfield anchor in the no.4 role for his good range of passing and calm distribution abilities plus neat marking ....??
If Mikel Agu and Esiti are to be considered alongside Onazi...... then it means The likes of Ndidi should be groomed for the CMF role.... But what about the AMF position?
We got Mikel (midfield all-rounder as a DMF, CMF and AMF with his super wealth of boundless class and experience).... super proven, Super tested, world class, anytime-anyday top performer for the Super Eagles. But in his absence then what??
Alexander Iwobi is the closest we can get to Mikel Obi in that role (AMF) among the players who has featured under Rohr.... But he is always getting played on the left side of attack and he is no Left wing forward... but more of a left-sided Creative midfielder. Iwobi should be made to fit in as one of our no.10 options for his abilities to also dictate plays and open up team's defences and crear countless chances thanks to his Boundless Vision, mad Skills and Confidence to dictate a game's tempo (if given the chance).
Kelechi Iheanacho can also play the no.10 and has got excellent vision, beautiful thru-the-eye-of-a-needle passing abilities too but his style is a bit different from Alex.... Alex brings a more beautiful melody and sexiness to that role as seen when he did it a few times for Arsenal last season(this past season).
If not.... then we may have to look at Forgiveness' Ajagun (who is very well technically gifted and got a very good passing range and vision too).... or even an Aluko, who is more direct as an AMF but comes with his bag of quick feet and skills too and ability to unlock stubborn defences with his constant probings.
For the future, Kelechi Nwakali is another player who deserves a keen look in for the AMF/CMF roles also for the lad is blessed by the gods of the midfield game. He needs to be groomed too for the future.
So we have a lot to discuss and a lot to really set right in terms of the "deep anatomy and actual physiology" of our team for now and the near future and in case certain Generals of the team are unavailable because of Injuries or whatever.
So in answer to your first two questions in bold....
For now, I will say "Mikel Obi" But we must start grooming his stand-by and replacement whenever he is not available and also ahead of his retirement Post-2019 Afcon
As for Etebo.... He is super versatile but I believe his best roles were the roles he shone most for Nigeria in these scenarios:
- against Algeria (as the destroyer-like CMF in a double pivot with Onazi where Onazi sat and he, Etebo was mobile and roamed the Central midfield positions marking and winning balls to feed Our orchestrator, Mikel Obi to work his passing magic)
- Against Japan and co at the Olympics (as the left-wing forward who always love to bomb forward and take on players with his searing pace and power and also get into goal scoring positions)
- Against All opponents at the U-23 Afcon 2015 (as the man behind the striker as the SS where he can always improvise his own moves using his goal instincts, positioning and boundless pace to tear apart defences). what a balanced debate. kudos |

zicky: Don't misunderstand me, you said Ndidi and Etebo was poor and I say Onazi was not better, hw will I say any of our player had a good game after losing 2-0 at home to SA, they all had a bad game bt Onazi take more of the blame. To who much is given much is expected. I never knew a tree has started making up a forest.. why apportioning more blames to an individual that worked his socks off but you expect him to be the Clark Kent if other ten players didn't come to the party. I just don't know what you want him to do... do you want him to man the post? |

goldfish80: Onazi was better than the other midfielders, he never lost a duel in that encounter. While Etebo had a poor game, Ndidi was the worst of them all. Ndidi barely found the next man with his passes, in the 2nd half, he was in no man's land, I'm not sure he knew the role he was playing. I guess, he escaped criticism because he plays in the Epl. Just like people were making excuses for Kelechi and Iwobi but the Nigerian psycho fans, would rather throw Moses Simon (who actually tried to make something happen) under the bus. If Moses Simon was playing for Watford, his efforts would have been more appreciated. Hard truth, Goldfish... hard truth |

TheGoodJoe: Another nice info that has bothered me since the appointment of Coach Rohr. His back room staffs from Nigeria. Most especially Alloy Agu and Salisu Yusuf. Rohr needs a tactician to work with him. Mourinho had Villas-Boas, Benitez had Pako Ayesteran, Rijkaard had Henk Ten Cate, Ancelotti had Paul Clemens etc.
My pick is Emmanuel Amunike because of his modern methods fits the pattern I feel Rohr intends for the team. With ball playing/passing defensive set up (including the defensive midfielder). Amunike actually played under such system and always coaches his team to play that way.
Although Siasia plays a similar brand of football, I am more comfortable with Amunike.
Rohr needed a simple advice. Iheanacho is making the runs when the pass is hit and always ahead of the defenders. We need someone in the hole to give him more accurate passes and we will tear the South Africans apart.
If we are maintaining the same formation, either Etebo or Onazi leaves (preferably Onazi),Etebo takes a deeper role and Iwobi takes the attack midfield position. Musa comes in for Onazi. We would have been stronger with the set up.
_________________Akpeyi __________Ekong_________Awaziem Shehu______________________________Echiejile _______________Ndidi _______________________Etebo ___________________Iwobi Musa_____________________________Simon _________________Iheanacho
This was the first preferred switch I expected. If I could remember, you once clamoured for Salisu Yusuf to be the coach of the Super eagles when he won a friendly against Mali and Luxembourg, Even after the appointment of Rohr, you still wished it was Salisu that was engaged to coach the eagles. I wonder what changed now by your above comment |

goldfish80: Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has sent his apologies to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for his poor conduct after he was substituted in Nigeria’s 0-2 loss to South Africa. Iheanacho was yanked off for Olarewaju Kayode as Nigeria chased an equaliser. The forward strolled off the pitch slowly despite the Eagles trailing, he even had to be hurried off the pitch by a South African player. He grudgingly shook the hand of Rohr before heading to the bench, where he angrily kicked at a water bottle while ranting. 20 year old Iheanacho says he regrets his actions and linked it to the frustration of playing poorly. “I wish to apologise too for the way I reacted when I was substituted. I did it for myself because as a striker I should have at least got at least shot on target. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t do that. That’s why I was angry with myself. I wish to apologise to the manager, the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation for my action. That’s not me. “For our next game, I believe we will come back stronger and better against Cameroon. I will improve my performance.”

.............. The young man even acknowledged that he had a stinker. Yet you're making excuses for him. If you can do away with sentiments and emotions, you will be a better analyst. Goodjoe will still tell you that it wasn't kelechi that said that, he will convince you that the speech was given to him by pep or rohr. he may even attribute the words to his agent so that it may facilitate his proposed switch to West Ham and that he's been professional |

Icon4s: Your first paragraph is just the summary of why our attack could not break down the SA defense.
For eg in that first half Iheanacho was practically kept off on several occasions. There were through balls from the midfield in that first half but they were either intercepted by their organized CB pairing or they kept Iheanacho off.
To rescue the situation, Iwobi had to play wide to pull usually two of the defenders to him. Expecting a disorganization of the CB pairing which could have given room for Iheanacho to operate. But his lack of athletism limited him to wide positions plus the SA defenders made sure he never made progress into the their 18yards box.
Etebo in an attempt to break the defence started making solo runs - what he is known for but his finishing touches let him down as he was always putting himself in a difficult position to aim at goal. Etebo's problem now I think is the 'Jack of all trade but master of none'. I think we need to define the role he will play for the national team and confine him to it. I recommend the CM. The role he played against Algeria.
Simon Moses has not improved a bit. He is not a starter IMO. He tried to use his skill and pace to outwit the SA defenders but his crosses were either not timely or too wide. At a point he was just playing crosses not directly targeting any player and expecting a miracle to happen.
Iheanacho was not much involved in the game. The major highlight I have of him was the pass he gave to Etebo that he missed. Secondly were the countless times he was caught in off side positions. The SA coach probably after seeing Iheanacho at City has understood that the only way to stop him from playing is not to allow the balls to get to him. We saw that happen several times at City this season. Iheanacho rides on the back of good Atracking midfield and wings play. He is still our most lethal finisher.
Kayode substituting Iheanacho was when the game ended for Nigeria.
Let me analyse Rohr's thinking before the substitution: We were on a 4-3-3 formation and under sparadic attacks from SA. Depleting the midfield further by removing either Iwobi or Simon would spell more doom. In the balance of play SA was having the upper hand in the midfield at that point in time. He left the two wingers and pulled out Iheanacho with the expectations that Kayode who is more of a natural striker than Iheanacho would have been able to use his pace and skills to outwit the SA defenders on a one on one basis. Alas it turned out that Rohr over estimated Kayode's abilities. At a time in the game I asked if Kayode was still on that field.
Musa's introduction was to introduce more direct play as Iwobi was practically kept wide and we made more incursion into the SA defense as he was even able to combine well on one or two occasions with Kayode. But the player to finish those moves was not there. Had Iheanacho been kept in the game.... who knows?
Osimhen, was the final trow of the die. We were 2-0 down already and so he just had to gamble by pulling out Simon. Osimhen made some good touches and edge of the box moves but not good enough to make anything happen.
Mikel and V. Moses would have obviously made the difference. What the SA defenders did was to keep Iwobi and Simon in wide positions something Moses would have been able to break with his dribbling skills, pace and direct play. Mikel would have been able to break down the organised SA defense with his dribbling skills, ball holding and shielding abilities plus timely release of the ball for Iheanacho.
If it is doable I would have pleased with God to take Mikel's age back to at least 25!. We are not ready to move on without him.
All these wahala was bc we met a very organized defense.
Then also I think Rohr spent more time focusing on our strength and not much on SA's weaknesses while reverse was the case for SA.
I have the belief that we still qualify. We can also beat SA away.
I wish Ikeme, Balogun, Mikel And Moses quick recovery. They are the back bone of the team. August in not far away again. I can't believe someone tapped into my subconscious to bring out all these. Expect to be served some papers from my lawyers when this public holiday is over. And someone still said kelechi was impressive on Saturday |

I think Darren Fletcher combined school with football when he was at united, i'm not typing this to justify bascovanveli because I don't think I agree with his school of thought to restrict talents for the sake of certificates but there are exceptions because you may not know what the future holds for an uneducated/half educated player. I couldn't combine football with academics that was why I left football when the sport was sucking my Cgpa, I was then planning on playing for julius Berger or Crown fc before I took a decision to quit football because it's not easy combining them |

Icon4s: My favorite moments of Rashidi Yekini:
1. Of course Nigeria's first goal at any World Cup (USA '94).The grabbing of that net and chanting what no one has still been able to interpret till date.
others: Maroc '88: Nigeria Vs Kenya. Yekini scored a brace to give Nigeria a brilliant commencement to the tourney.
Tunisia '94: Nigeria Vs Egypt. Egyptian keeper boasted Yekini cannot beat him. It was a tight game. Yekini almost scored a cracker when he took a thunderous shot that hit the upright of the Egytians'. I will not also forget the brilliant goal he scored against Zaire.
1994 WC qualifiers: Ngr Vs CIV. Yekini scored a brace in Lagos to help Ngr Beat CIV 4-1. I thought he scored against Kenya in 1992 Afcon. The game is kinda fuzzy now anyway |

Mickael2: Ever since Kayode was small, his workrate has always been his strongest point. He runs for 90 mins straight, I remember watching his Europa League games and some of his recent league games. He is faster than Nacho by the way.
But let me ask, when was the last time you watched Kayode's games? 10 months ago? Tbaba will give you a better definition of the type of player he is, name does not play football, form does I agree with you about the work rate of Kayode, he reminds me of when Carlos Tevez was at Manchester City also like Ji Sung Park and Dirk Kuyt put together but he misses goals more than a woman missing her period. We need strikers that can bury half chances now that we are lacking in terms of prolific goal scorers in the SE safe for the DRILLING One in the team that has a good goal game ratio |

Oasis007: How old is Leroy Sane?! Is he not younger than Iheanacho?! When he came to Manchester City, he was drilled for few Weeks, was given his Chances and he's now an integral Part of the Team.
I remember last Season, Iheanacho was over the Media in England. He was acknowledged as the most clinical in the EPL. He was compared with Rashford and everyone was expecting to perhaps outshine Rashford and other young Lads in the League this Season.
Alas! If he wasn't given a Chance by Pellegrini, how would the World know how talented he is?! Who's watching Drills and Trainings?! Engineering isn't about Theory, rather Practical - coz I'm expecting an Engineer to show me how it's done, not to tell me!
Jesus..... Iheanacho age mate ought to be recuperating now, yet he's getting a Cameo and gradually returning back to the starting Lineup!
I guess Nolito, despite his Experience, is back to drilling School?! The most used word on this thread is DRILL... I can't even help saying that word in between mouthfuls these days |
