dustydee: The UK tax system is not as bad as you make it look. Someone on £11,500 a year pays less tax than a Nigerian on equivalent pay in Nigeria. It is high for higher earners but some don't mind or simply go contracting where they pay less taxes. This is fair enough now.....Unlike what i pay in naija .....and still dont get value for money . |

UKmigrant: Some things are beginning to come to light to me in my few months of being here. As a Nigerian, most people (other immigrants) think they are better than you. Ghanaian, Zimbabweans, Asians all think they are better than you. You only need to have deep interaction with people around for you to know how condescending they could be. Some Nigerians who were born here or who have been here longer also sort of think they are better people, you are even more likely to have problems with these ones than others. This thing weak me o Thats one thing i hate about UK ...Most especially the Asians and those Somalians....They feel like they are so privileged even more than the Britons sef |

UKmigrant: A little about my last UK trip a few months ago. It was my first time in the UK. I needed to go sort out my runs. I was to stay for a total of 6 weeks. To save cost of accommodation, I contacted my cousin in France who has a friend in the city I wanted to stay in the UK and he linked us up. We started chatting several weeks prior to my trip and I even called him a few times. He said there's no issue at all accommodating me. He even promised to pick me up at the airport. Told me how he is really close to my cousin and I have nothing to worry about.
He even asked me to send my flight itinerary which I did. We finally spoke before i departed Nigeria and he said he'd be waiting for me at the airport as I land.
When we landed, I started trying his numbers all to no avail! Called him on whatsapp but he didn't pick up. Sent him several messages on whatsapp and skype, they were delivering but he wasn't reading them. Later the messages also stopped delivering. I decided to chill a little for him thinking he probably had some delays getting to the airport, I no no say I don jonze!
After 4 hours I was still at the airport with no calls from him or reply to any of my messages, I called my cousin in France who also tried to contact him but also couldn't. I then knew that I was on my own. I booked airbnb and took a black cab to the place.
He never called me back throughout my stay in the UK. I tried to message him once, it was delivered but he didn't reply, even up till now. I wonder what was going on in his mind for setting me up to be stranded like that. Thank Jah I was fully prepped for my trip financially and all, so, I just had to spend the money I was trying to manage.
On speaking with some Londoners about it, I learnt that it is a common behavior amongst Nigerians in London. I say na waa o! Brothers behaving like savages to their fellow countrymen. Unless they see clearly that they have something to benefit from you, they avoid you like a plague. The rest na story for another day sha. Welcome to the club...Na their way be that ! .........I have learnt to always book my accommodation since i was messed up on my first ever trip...I dont even tell my families and friends when am around any longer....We see eachother on the street and they are like " Na wa o , you go just enter london , you nor go call person" ...... |

It is overlooking punishments as this that helped bring Nigeria to its present state of governmentlessness. He has been sued by a lawyer already ! Hand don reach the yeye guy ! |

Faithway10: The police on Monday rescued the abducted father of Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, in Enugu.
A statement issued by spokesman of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said Pa Michael Obi and his driver, Ishaya John, were kidnapped last Friday along Makurdi – Enugu Road.
The statement read:
“The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives of the 9thmile Division on Monday at 2:30 p.m. rescued Pa Michael Obi and his driver one Ishaya John unhurt in Egede udi forest of Enugu State along old Egede Affa Road in Enugu.
“They were rescued hale and hearty and Pa Michael Obi and the driver have rejoined their family. It was gathered that Pa Obi was allegedly abducted along Makurdi -Enugu road in the afternoon of 29/6/18 on his way from Jos in his grey colored Toyota pardon jeep with registration number MUS 604CG and taken to unknown destination through the thick forest part of the area.
“It was further gathered that the abductors started calling to demand a ransom of N10 million before the operatives acting on intelligence information swooped on them where a gun duel ensued. This forced the hoodlums to abandon their victims inside the forest and they were promptly rescued.”

Admin401: That means the "logical" thing to do is make our own system work for us then? Then we should all come together and make it work ! If she had complained abt d brain drain while she was in Nigeria,am sure pple won't throw abuses at her but she is over there where almost every Nigerian feels life is easy and she is complaining of brain drain which she is also part of. |

harmbhrosz: and that is what she saying.... She's saying we too should face our problem and solve it rather than running away from it....
The reason that our system isn't working is because of people like you and I. gods and demigods are not responsible for our misfortune in this country, our politicians are. So why not stay back and face/solve your problems
Let's read positive meaning to things first before spilling hate over it Let her come and join others to make it work also rather than advising Canadian govt to stop pple from coming over. Isn't she part of d brain drain ? |
