I use a compaq presario c300, with windows xp sp2. I took it along on a bumpy road recently and ever since it stopped startin up, it boots on, flashes a blue screen error then gives a number of options. Any attempt of the options only restarts and returns to the previous options.

I tried repairin but its sayin no hard disk was found, i made sure u hard disk is in place and also performed a hard disk test which was successful. What can be the prob?

Its still working, all u have to do is to activate it using the code *230*1#, enjoy it while it lasts.

The prob i have is with a desktop, there was a power failure and there is no UPS, when the light was restored, there was this error during startup " unmountable boot device" i have tried starting up with last known good configuration and safe mode it keeps coming back to the same error, i need help, thanks.

@bijelee that sopunds like the sort of thing i could do on someone's pc just for laughs;
it seems that on logon something is causing your windows to logoff again; unfortunately i am not sure of what exactly
when windows is starting press f8 to go into safe mode and see if you can log in from there;
if so the easiest way will be to create a new user with the same privileges as your present, copy all your files (in my documents and desktop) into the new user's documents and delete the old user (not the most efficient but it'll probably save a lot of back and forth)
another way will be to go thru msconfig and disable most of the programs that start automatically (unfortunately i'm not typing
from windows so i can't tell you which tab to look at) or if you're techie enough you could go through regedit

It doesn't logon from safe made, it simply returns to the normal logon page. since i can't logon at the moment, evrything other thing is impossible. Am still exploring other means, i hope formatting won't be the last resort. Thanks

if laptop turn off

on that screen

then is a hardware

problem if doesn't

then is a software

problem, whichever

I tried formatting my system and i got an error like no hard disk drives found on this computer meanwhile i use a compaq presario  c300 running windows xp media center edition. Av checked the device maager and everything seems to be alright but i still can't go ahead with formatting. Is it the CD am using or where could the prob be. Thanks

using a mouse is an alternative, i need to know how to fix it, cos av come accross a number of them having this same problem, formatting would solve the problem but thats not ideal, am thinking of re installing the drivers maybe the drivers for the touchpad are faulty.

There is this problem am having with a couple of HP 520 and 530 laptops have come accross, the touch pad doesn't respond to clicks but it can still navigate around the desktop, limiting users to using the left and right buttons to click.
