EducationRe: End In Sight For ASUU Strike As FG Reviews ‘No-work No-Pay’ Policy by billagreen(m): 1:08pm On Sep 07, 2022
kingi777:
I think FG sees university lecturers as mere civil servants that is why they don't have regard for them. The truth is that for you to qualify to lecture in the university, you must develop your self by acquiring higher degrees such as MSc and PhD. Even though some people would say it doesn't matter, it costs a lot to do research especially for those in sciences due to dollar exchange rate as most of the reagents and equipment are imported. When you suffer to get this qualifications, they start paying you with meagre salary. I think ASUU has been listening to the cry of the masses by calling off the strike in the past without achieving anything. Somepeople are against ASUU getting decent pay by comparing them with civil servants that do not need research publications, conference attendance and higher certificates for promotion. A lecturer works all round the corner, both at night and weekends without rest. Most of them slump and die due to stress from overload of work duties. The truth is that most universities are understaffed and that’s why ASUU is asking for earn allowance due to over admission of students. I've been privileged to attend a conference in South Africa and I saw the cars/machines driven by lecturers and I was awed. They are really paid well. But I noticed in Nigeria, lecturers are no more proud of their work because of let down by even students as they can hardly buy decent cars or live in good neighbourhood. Universities are built every day but no provision of lecturer's quarters unlike in the 60s. Some enemies of education would also say what are the lecturers teaching, but nigerian graduates are doing wonderfully well in different parts of the world. They follow the NUC curriculum and are checked via accreditation. FG has to stop demoralising lecturers by paying them well so as to encourage them to concentrate and put in their best for the betterment of students. Why should an MSc holder working with TETFUND for eg be paid NGN700,000 as entry salary while a PhD holder starts with less than NGN130,000/140,000 in the university? Go to TETFUND and verify, you won't see children of nobody there; most of them are children of Senators, governors, ministers, emirs etc. Meanwhile, the TETFUND came through the effort of
ASUU o. Yet a professor earns less than NGN450,000 and the government feel good. Some say Fg don't have money so what's the rationale for spending billions on school feeding? The Fg is making the university unattractive and if care is not taken, education in Nigeria will be affected as it's only those who don't have a choice that would like to lecture as the best brains won't consider doing suffer head for nothing.
Just tell it out here where and what the scientific research has gotten us in Nigeria

CareerRe: Is This A Norm In Nigeria Among Bosses And Masters?? by billagreen(m): 1:59pm On Aug 11, 2022
4Humanity4All:
Hello Nairalanders. So, I want you guys to give your opinion about something.

For those of you that have learnt one trade or the other in Nigeria be it Tailoring, Mobile phone repair, Barbing, mechanic and so on, is it true that those bosses do not teach their apprentices well? I mean, is it that they just work and expect you to watch and just understand it just like that? Please, say your opinion.

Now, this is specifically for Hardware mobile phone repairers. How was your learning process like? Were you taught very well or you had to figure out stuffs on your own? I'm actually experiencing such now and I feel it's unfair. I have great interest in mobile phone repair but I hate being insulted for what I wasn't taught in the first place.

Is this a norm in Nigeria?

Imagine Senators on death threat list shying away from discussing the worrisome insecurity in the Country.

APC has repeatedly shown Nigerians that there is no much difference between the party and terror...
The senate is been talked about and yet you are referencing a single party, like it's a single party that exists in senate now!

EducationRe: FG Committee Recommends ₦ 2 Millions Monthly Pay For Professors by billagreen(m): 7:04am On Jul 15, 2022
tony0806:
2,000,000 monthly grin

As at 2019, Nigeria had about 11,877 professors (though this include both those on private and public higher institutions).

That means; monthly, the government will pay 2,000,000 x 11,877 = 23,754,000,000. That's over twenty three billion naira monthly.

As at today, Nigeria produces about 1.2m BPD of crude oil (Our main source of income, excluding mineral resources from the north which I don't know why they don't mention it. Only God knows where that money is going to). Using the official exchange rate of about 414 naira, that's a total income of 1,200,000 x 414 = 496,800,000.

THEN; 496,800,000 x 30 days = 14,904,000,000. This is approximately Fifteen billion naira FROM CRUDE OIL MONTHLY (Nigeria's income from crude oil).

Summarily, the nations income (from crude oil) AS AT TODAY CAN'T settle ASUU's demand. This draft proposal is just for academic staff salaries oooo. We've not mentioned other items.

SSANU, Non academic staff, etc have not been mentioned oooo.
Other government establishment have not been mentioned oooo.

Anyway, the government has enough money. Else, where are they getting money to pay NPOWER between 12 to 15 billion monthly? What of the one they said they share to the poorest people in Nigeria monthly, etc.

I'll come back to modify my comment later
Your calculation is wrong.
However 1.2mbpd is not going at 414 per barrel, pls confirm that a barrel of fuel isn't 1 dollar

Pm good people of naira land. I really need help.

I'm in my early twenties and I'm very addicted to pornography and masturbation. My own level of addiction is so severe that when I see people here complaining of being addicted I just laugh.

I started since 2017 and I have been masturbating since then even when I didn't have a mobile to satisfy my addiction, I borrow just so I'll be alright.

Right now, I just finished masturbating about three times in a row since yesterday, even after today I vowed never to masturbate again, went to my history to clear off porn pages. I mistakenly clicked on one and I masturbated again. I really need help all round, when I mean help I mean actual help.

Your suggestions and insults are welcomed. I deserve them.

You can ban importation but the first thing a sane government would do is to take charge of storage of production so that we would know what we have at hand and have a record of quantity demand, then the government itself would give room to certain amount so to compensate what we already have...

PoliticsRe: Senate Moves To Push Retirement Age Of Supreme Court Justices To 75 Years by billagreen(m): 12:24pm On Jan 30, 2021
First it was teachers and now it Chief justices.
A Yoruba adage ' ẹ fi ète sì lè, ẹ ń pá lápá lápá'.

These increments in retirement ages is perceived by me as Trojan horse, the senate have never done anything out of selflessness and it's terrible when factors such average life expectancy (54 years @2018) of a Nigerian is considered before elongatng how long people can serve in public offices...

Did these people ever think that there could be better brains from newer generations who can outperform those old generations. And now when average life expectancy is 54 and you chose 75 it means many positions would be occupied by old gimmicks while the sharp, young and intelligent fellow may not get a chance to be there.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is The Essence Of Judgement Day When God Already Knows Our Heart? by billagreen(m): 10:33am On Oct 08, 2017
OtemAtum:
God Almighty the creator of Allah and Yahweh doesn't judge people after death. Rather, his love engulfs everyone and corrections are revealed. Yahweh and Allah, as well as Mazda and Moloch who are all the children of God, are the judgemental ones. However, they have been cast currently into a spiritual cage where they shall remain in for a thousand year.
There is no judgement, but corrections, after death.
what is this one saying?
