*2023 presidential: Chances of Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim brightens as APC forces restrategize* On its part, the ruling All Progressives Congress APC had said before its recent convention that positions being held by the North and South be swapped ahead 2023 and thereafter. “It was in the light of this that it zoned the chairmanship to North Central and Senator Abdullahi Adamu was elected national chairman. The popular belief is that with Adamu from North Central as chairman, the President will come from the South, hence the preponderance of aspirants from the Southern states in the race for the party’s ticket.” However, among those involved in the ongoing plot are said to be individuals close to President Muhammadu Buhari. They are said to be putting pressure on the APC to revisit the zoning formula adopted for the presidential ticket to allow every zone to contest. Although Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has thrown his hat into the ring, they are not considering due to controversial nature. A new aspirant, if they succeed in lobbying some of the other APC northern governors, may join the race in May,” the source said. It was gathered that the power brokers, are also considering a young businessman GbengaOlawepo-Hashim, who now claims to hail from Kebb State. Their calculation, the sources added, is that the SouthWest may not mind Olawepo Hashim whose mother is from Ogbomosho, Oyo State, but grew up in Kwara, where he played his politics until 2021, when he shifted base to the FCT, Abuja. Their belief is that he will appeal to the youths because he is also young active, vibrant and articulate. https://tribuneonlineng.com/2003-north-restrategises-shortlists-jonathan-atiku-olawepo-hashim/

*Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim could be APC saving grace- Vanguard newspaper claims* _As ruling party strategist beam searchlight on him_ A national newspaper, Vanguard newspaper has claimed that Frontline politician and APC presidential aspirant, Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has become the focus of strategists in ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as the party continue to explore means of deciding its choice of presidential candidate. The newspaper, in a new report over the weekend, titled Governor's scheme against Tinubu-Osinbajo-Amaechi amidst fresh plot against zoning said that, some strategists in APC have launched a fresh plot against the understanding that the 2023 presidency has been zoned to the south. According to the report, Vanguard newspaper claimed that, the strategists are believed to be scared stiff that opposition people's democratic party may pick its candidate from the North and should that happen, the outcome of the 2023 presidential election may not be favourable to APC, they are therefore seriously considering drafting in a northerner into the race. Sources quoted by Vanguard newspaper said that, strategists are considering Business man and former presidential aspirant, Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim. "The name came from the blues but they are attracted to him because of his youthfulness, connection to South West, North central and North West. Until recently, he claimed kwara as state of origin, but he now says he has traced his roots to kebbi state and how this plays out is left to be seen, the source said. Recall that in this past week, Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim hosted all APC Chairmen in North Central zone, where he declared his intentions to formally joins the presidential race. His formal declaration is slated for after Ramadan, 3rd may, 2023, in honor of the holy month of Ramadan. https://newsbreakng.com/olawepo-hashim-could-be-apc-saving-grace-vanguard-newspaper-claims/

I will form a govt of national unity if elected president- Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, yesterday said he will have a government of national unity to address the divisions within the country today if he wins the 2023 polls. Olawepo-Hashim who decried the state of affairs in the country, said no section of the country has to feel marginalised at the highest level of government. He however urged the national leadership of APC to encourage aspirants to discuss among themselves on how the presidential candidate should emerge. The presidential aspirant who spoke with select journalists in Abuja, said the country needs all the interest to be aggregated into one. “The country is really divided along ethnic, religious lines, it is very difficult for any party to even produce a candidate right now that can win in more than four zones out of the six zones of the country because of the division in the country. So nobody can be a superstar, where we are now, what we need is one who can put in place a government of national unity really and by the grace of God if I win, that is what I am going to do. “I am going to form a government of national unity that will include various strands and perspectives and interest, religious dispositions, ethnic dispositions; you need the cultural symbols of those various forces who feel marginalised to be included in government at the highest level for everyone to have a sense of belonging. Gowon did this during the Nigerian Civil War, he formed a government that included Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Taka, Aminu Kano, these are people who ordinarily would have been presidents or head of states on their own rights, we need that sort of thing now more than any time before and if I am elected that is what I am going to do. “You need all the expertise, the issues confronting Nigeria right now is more than the personal ambition of anyone, we must have a national ambition and that ambition will be to secure the country quickly, solve the energy crisis that the country confronts and let the people of the country from various religion and zones have a sense of inclusiveness, that is what we urgently need now. https://leadership.ng/why-ill-run-govt-of-national-unity-olawepo-hashim/ |

*Kwara Must Change urges education authority to conduct need assessment of students and teachers* _As some secondary school students couldn't read or write_ A leading Pro Democracy group, Kwara Must Change has uncovered several secondary school students in public schools in the state that could not read or write. The group also noted that, further investigation shows that there exist secondary school students that could not identify basic alphabets. In a statement by Convener of Kwara Must Change, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group said that, some of the recently recruited teachers who are currently battling with teaching students across various schools uncovered this development and reached out to the group for advise. According to Hamzat, the transparent recruitment process for teachers in the state has had many positive effects on the education sector and one of such positive development is the revelation that there are some senior secondary school students, some of whom are preparing for senior secondary school examination, but couldn't read or write. "We were surprised when some of the recently recruited teachers reported this to us, but further investigation shows that these are not isolated cases. There exist a significant number of students in a number of schools across the state that are currently affected by this challenge" Hamzat said. Kwara Must Change explained that, "the trouble some of these teachers are facing is that, how can they teach students preparing for senior secondary school examination, when the students can neither read nor write, some of whom cannot write basic alphabets. "One of the teachers informed Kwara Must Change that the only solution is to start everything from the scratch, assuming that you have to start by teaching them basic alphabets" Explaining further, It was noted that, students facing such challenge wouldn't speak out. You will assume they couldn't understand the current topic or subject, but proper attention over time by some of the recently recruited teachers have shown that the challenges students face are fundamental challenges, which is mostly due to poor foundation. "It is almost impossible to teach a student that couldn't read or write, unless you begin by teaching them the basics, which is not part of the curriculum of their class", adding that, there is need to identify such students, do a thorough brush up, before proceeding to teach them other things. Kwara Must Change is therefore calling on education authorities in the state to investigate the revelation to address this fundamental challenge. The group also call for thorough needs assessment of students and teachers in public school with the aim of identifying education challenges of students and teachers in the state. https://factualtimesng.com/kwara-must-change-calls-need-assessment-of-students-teachers/

*Use honey instead of sugar in your diet* Honey is sweeter than sugar, but sugar has too many negative effect on health, especially for older people. Honey is not just sweeter than sugar, it is also recommended by medical experts, because of the many additional benefits the body can derive from it. Original Honey is a natural healer, a drug aswell as a sweetner. Depending on the kind of honey, it can be two or three times sweeter than sugar, so you need to reduce the amount of sweetener when swapping sugar for honey. The Rule is: For every 1 cup of sugar, replace it with 1/2 to 2/3 cup honey.

Africa doesn't need unity right now I know you may find that statement annoying, but just calm down and read objectively. A United Africa told America led NATO not to invade Libya, but its position was brushed aside and Libya was invaded, the consequences of which we are witnessing today. But guess what would happen, if Russia or China told US not to invade any part of its territory? Africa Union position on Libya was brushed aside because all of the nations that constitute the union are weak nations. No amount of unity will make you strong, if you are not responsible, insightful and visionary. Africa doesn't need unity, as much as it needs responsible citizenry and leadership. Surely, we need unity, but that's after we have become responsible, as individuals and as nations. What we need, right now, is each African nations, independently insightful, visionary and strong. It is the the unity of visionary, insightful and strong African nations that would become potent for greatness, not the unity of weak and irresponsible citizenry and leadership. Weak people don't have capacity to unite. Their immediate needs far supercedes their quest for unity. If anyone, no matter how deceptive, promise to give them something they need, they will not think twice before jettisoning any decision made by their amalgamation of weak union. Therefore, Africa should seek to build responsible citizenry and leadership, that is strong and insightful, not weak unity based on imaginary ideas. Abdulrazaq Hamzat |
