History, Form, Meaning and Use of Oaths

Imam Hamiduddin Farahi
(Tr. by: Tariq Haashmi)

Sometimes one needs to stress a statement or to emphasize promises in order to convince one’s audience. This is especially demanding in serious interpersonal, national, international and collective matters. When two persons, two nations, or a ruler and his subjects contract a treaty they consider it of utmost importance to assert that they are committed to their pledge by means of an oath. Thus they come to trust each other and differentiate between their allies and the opponents and between their protectors and enemies.

This social and cultural need called them to devise ways and select certain words which could depict such assertions. The original function of an oath is to reaffirm and solidify a statement.

Ancients expressed their commitments by taking the right hands of the other party. This practice remained customary among the Romans, the Arabs and the Hebrews. By taking the hand of the other party, one externalized his commitment. This act signified that both the parties vowed to stay tied together on the given affair and pledged their right hands on it. It was because of this custom that the word yamīn (literally: right hand) came to denote an oath. This fact has been clearly put by some of the poets. Jassās Ibn Murrah says:

I will fulfill the rights of my neighbor. My hands are pledged as surety for what I commit (yadī rahnun fi‘ālī).1

From this practice, the oath acquired the meaning of guarantee and surety. This signification of the oath is still present in the practice of shaking hands, clapping and striking hands while contracting a deal. This practice is still current among the Romans and the Indians. This is further corroborated by the fact that in Hebrew also the word yamīn is used to connote an oath. Psalms (144:cool reads:

Those whose mouths utter evil things and their oaths are false oaths.

The original Hebrew words are: (أشر فيهم دبر سوء ويمينام يمين شاقر) I wonder why the English translators failed to understand this meaning and they translated the verse as follows: “Their right hand is the false right hand.”2

They failed to appreciate that the word yamīn, in this context, connotes oath and translated it literally. This is an outrageously erroneous interpretation and proves that these translators of the Bible did not try enough to understand Hebrew, the original language of the Scripture. What is astonishing is that they did not mend this clear mistake in their recent efforts to improve the earlier translations.

Another example is found in the Proverbs. The Prophet Sulaymān (sws) says:

My son, if you have become surety for your neighbor, if you have stricken your hands for a stranger. (Proverbs 6:1)

This proves that the Arabs and Hebrews followed a similar tradition of formalizing contracts and undertaking commitments. That is why the word yamīn signifies an oath in Hebrew as well as in Arabic.

When a large number of people were involved in a contract, all would dip their right hands in water. Since all hands touched the water, they took it to mean that all have taken the hands of each other and agreed on a matter of mutual interest. Water is the best thing to touch. It sticks with other substances best of all. They say “balla (literally: moisted) bi al-shay’i yadī” to mean that my hands have stuck to it. Ṭarafah Ibn al-‘Abd says:

When the nation hastens to take up arms, you shall find me secure while my hands have gripped the handle of the sword (ballat biqā’mihī).3

Sometimes they took scent and divided it among themselves and rubbed it on their hands. Thus they would depart while scented. Scent leaves more lasting traces than water. It is in fact more noticeable. This is why it has been called “a conspicuous thing” (‘urf) and “a diffusing one” (nashr). An example of this method of affirming contracts, in the history of the Arabs, is the famous legend of Manshim which goes as follows. Some people swore that they would fight their enemies jointly. They wanted a memorial of their covenant. They decided to use scent which they bought from a perfumer called Manshim. This legend got so famous that it developed into a parable. Zuhayr Ibn Abī Sulmā says:

You two recovered ‘Abs and Dhubyān while they had given themselves to war and while they had sprinkled among themselves essence of Manshim.4

Similarly, we see that participants in the oath of muṭayyibīn dipped their hands in perfume. The detail of this incident will be given in the tenth section.

At other occasions, they would slaughter an animal and sprinkle its blood on the bodies of the parties making a contract. This would either symbolize that the relation established thus was to be honored as blood ties or work as a symbolic expression of their vow to stand by their commitment to the extent of shedding their blood. It has been said in Exodus:

Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord, and Moses took half the blood and put it in basins and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said: “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said: “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you, according to all these words.” (Exodus 24:4-12)

We see that they vowed to their Lord by sprinkling the blood on themselves. They sprinkled the blood on the altar on behalf of their Lord. Thus they became the allies of their Lord. Such examples abound in the Torah. We find in Zechariah:

Because of the blood of your covenant, I set your prisoners free. (Zechariah 9:11)

Yet another method adopted in contractual obligations was that a party would bind a chord with that of their partners. They would then be considered allies. The word rope has acquired the meaning of a contract of guarantee and companionship from this very custom. The Qur’ān says:

Under a covenant (ḥabl) with God and a covenant (ḥabl) with men. (Q 3:112)

Let us Sit up and Take Notice

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day there are indeed signs for men of understanding. (3:190)

I have only recently begun to pay heed to the wordings of the Qur’ān that urge the believer to look for ‘the signs’ and to ‘ponder’. By God, it is a beautiful realisation! (I pray to Allah that those who have influenced me to this accomplishment, be rewarded immensely. Amen.) ‘The signs’, ever so prevalent, manifest themselves in everything and every event around us. It is the world-oriented person in us that chooses for us the ungratefulness that we extend towards our Creator, our Sustainer, our Cherisher. The ‘I-take-it-all-for-granted’ attitude has landed us all into its domain and is spreading like termites and wildfire. We have chosen for ourselves the impermeable camouflage that keeps us at a considerable distance from reality and realisation; the opportunity cost of which is eternal bliss in the Hereafter:

For indeed it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts, which are within the bosoms that grow blind. (22:46)

We fail to recognise the power behind the workings of nature: the beautiful horizons, the picturesque landscapes, the chirping birds -- they are all signs which remind us time and again of a benevolent Creator. However aesthetic the prized paintings or sculptures of the famous artists, can they ever speak? Or if they do, can they ever speak with as much eloquence? By no means! The working of nature remain ever so ‘perfect’ and ‘unmatched’. It is the Almighty who creates as He pleases, and He always creates to perfection.

What impresses me the most is the development and workings of the human body itself. The gestational stage of a baby is evidence of various stages of development that eventually leads to the arrival of the child into this world as its own individual being. Within the first nine minutes of its birth, the baby develops an eight-focus. Nevertheless, psychological studies show that babies have preference for faces although at such minor ages, they can only distinguish between contrasts, shadows and edges. How do babies determine what is pleasing? How do they delightfully acknowledge the presence of faces only? How do they conclude that it is these faces which bring them security even though they have no memory retaining capability? Scientists may provide an answer with their Herculean thesis, but the simple, true, most beautiful and most satisfying answer is that it all comes from Allah.

Before eight months of age, children do not seem to comprehend the fact that things exist until and unless they are within sight. If made to disappear, their memory will not acknowledge any such existence. However, Allah assures that the mother-child bond develops much earlier. God ‘installs’ a program for love in the mother’s heart which receives instant notification from the baby. His wisdom is such that the infant doesn’t require any memory to recognise the mother. A touch will do! A recent UNICEF print add very rightly states:

One of the best ways to touch a child’s life is to touch the child itself. And by God, is the mother so very naturally perfect at this art?! Her skills are but God’s providence. The lobes of the child finally develop into the best, most ingenious video graphics card ever designed. Optimum Resolution! It remains a fact as ever that only the Lord Almighty is capable of perfection and optimality which is quite visibly evident!1

Different portions of the brain control different parts of the body. If a man loses his legs, some other part of his body will improve in performance drastically to compensate for the loss. This is so because Allah has made the brain to function in such a way that if one part of the body is missing at birth or amputated, a portion of the brain controlling some other body part will take over the emptied portion. Such intelligent functioning comes only by virtue of His mercy.

Allah mentions in the Qur’ān (2:285) that He tests us only to the extent that is bearable for us. It so turns out that this condition holds true in the case of spiritual aggravation as well as physical pain.

Consider the pain-gate mechanism in our bodies. In times of extremely unbearable bodily afflictions, the pain-gate does not open or delays its opening to prevent the ‘message of anguish’ from registering itself to the brain. All the agony seems to be beneficently shunned away. David Livingstone writes is his Missionary Travels:

I heard a shout. Startling, and looking half round, I saw the lion just in the act of springing upon me. I was upon a little height; he caught my shoulder as he sprang, and we both came to the ground below together. Growling horribly close to my ear, he shook me as a terrier does a rat. The shock produced a stupor similar to that which seems to be felt by a mouse after the first shake of the cat. It caused a sort of dreaminess in which there was no sense of pain nor feeling of terror, though I was quite conscious of all that was happening… This peculiar state is probably produced in all animals killed by the carnivora; and if so, is a merciful provision by our benevolent Creator for lessening the pain of death.2

Allah’s mercy, providence and wisdom knows no bounds. He asks of you only and only to become a grateful soul. When times roll on with ‘Good morning sunshine!’, when the skies are ‘Oh-so-beautiful-and-dreamy’, when the Mexican waves go ‘hurrah’ and when it is ‘party time’, the only magic words that He requires (or thoughts, if words are hard to blurt out with so many guys and gals around) are: ‘Praise be to Allah’.
Politics › Origin by bilms(op): 3:26pm On May 15, 2009
A study of history reveals that man, by nature, has always been a gregarious being and just like food and clothing, a social set-up is his indispensable physical need. Therefore, from the earliest days of his creation, he has striven for the formation of a society. His needs induced him to live in a community and the community itself had some requirements. Gradually, the community developed into a civilization and with it came the need for resources. The natural tendency in man to expand and augment these resources together with other wicked inclinations within him led to a state of anarchy and disorder. The only way to protect a community from such turmoil and discord was to organize it under a single leadership. Again, since this leadership, for its own existence and well-being, depended on the support of the masses, things like caste, race, language and ideology were instrumental in forming this support and allegiance. Hence, the result was that the progeny of a single human being was divided into many clans and tribes. Finally, as a result of some social need or the outright internal strength of a group, there emerged a supreme group to which other smaller groups became subservient.

The political history of man is but the tale of a mere repetition of this process. Ibn Khaldūn, the founder of the subject of the philosophy of history, writes in his celebrated treatise ‘The Muqaddamah’:

ثم ان القبيل الواحد وان كانت فيه بيوتات مفترقة وعصبيات متعددة فلا بد من عصبية تكون اقوى من جميعها تغلبها ? تستتبعها وتلتحم جميع العصبيات فيها ? تصير كانها عصبية واحدة كبري والاوقع الافتراق المفضي الى الاختلاف والتنازع

Furthermore, if in a single group there are different families and various sub-groups, it is certain that a single group will emerge which is the strongest in the lot. This group achieves its supremacy over others and demands their obedience. Finally, all groups merge into it and a larger group comes into existence. If this does not happen, the outcome is turmoil which leads to disagreement and dissension.1

The political parties are actually these groups and to ascertain the strongest among them, the Qur’ān has directed us to follow the principle of: ‘أَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ’ (Their system is based on their consultation), and has thereby provided mankind with a peaceful means of transfer of power. History bears witness that when in the Thaqīfah of Banī Sā‘idah the two major groups of the Muslims – the Ansār and the Muhājirūn – had gathered over the issue of the Prophet’s (sws) successor, the Muhājirūn, in accordance with the Prophet’s (sws) directive, were transferred the reins of power since they commanded the confidence and support of the majority of the Arab Muslims. Therefore, it is incorrect to believe that in an Islamic State there is no justification for political parties. However, it must be conceded that some of the parties which at the moment tread this country’s political arena have no basis for exist.

The leaders of some of these parties do not dare to openly invite people towards secular ideologies. However, they have adopted another way to propagate their ideas: They say that religion is a personal affair and as far as a state is concerned, it should have no religion. Previously, the king and his nobles were the final authority and now the parliament should play this role. A majority opinion should decide what is right and what is wrong. Religious laws are relics of the past and are outdated and ill-suited for the requirements of the modern era.

This viewpoint is obviously based on ignorance. Truth is an indivisible whole. If religion is a truth then it is so for both a person and a state. If people who hold this point of view regard it as being contrary to the truth then there should be no discrimination between a state and an individual in this regard. A reality whether divinely revealed or intellectually derived is a reality for all. It addresses both an individual and the collectivity in which he lives. Veracity, justice and honesty are universal and not relative truths. If, for example, a religion directs the individual to observe fasts in a certain month, and directs the state to follow the principle of consultation, enforce collective justice, establish prayers and promulgate a certain penal code, then these are two aspects of the same reality. Both a state and an individual must necessarily adopt it. If it is a truth that man on this earth is a creation of the Almighty and one day he shall be held accountable in front of Him for all his deeds then it is so for an individual as well as for a state. It cannot be correct for one and incorrect for the other.

Similarly, there are leaders of some other parties who at times openly and at times secretly try all what they can to dismember the state of Pakistan and wish that it should be, God forbid, wiped out from the face of the earth. Such horrible campaigns, obviously, are heinous crimes which no Muslim can commit against his country. People who die in such a cause, according to the Prophet (sws), die the death of Jāhiliyyah:

مَنْ كَرِهَ مِنْ أَمِيرِهِ شَيْئًا فَلْيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْ السُّلْطَانِ شِبْرًا مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً (بخاري: رقم ٧٠٥٣)

He who sees something despicable in his ruler should bear it for he who even slightly disassociates himself from the obedience of the sovereign authority and dies in this condition shall die the death of ignorance. (Bukhārī: No. 7053)

Such ignorance cannot be tolerated in an Islamic State. But apart from these parties, other political parties, groups and clans of an Islamic State must, also, follow certain principles and observe certain limits. To quote the Qur’ān:

يَاأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ(١٣:٤٩)

O Mankind! We have created you from a single [pair] of a male and a female and divided you into nations and tribes that you might get to know each other. The most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is he who fears Him the most. (49:13)

The sociological principles of Islam which are so compactly stated in the above verse need a lot of space for their explanation. Some of these are explained below.

The first thing on which the verse throws light is that although mankind has been created from the same man and woman, yet the nearness in blood relations, association with a country and its customs, common collective needs, harmony in cultural traditions, conformity in behaviour and mental tendencies, collaboration in achieving aims, common targets and many other natural and instinctive needs and sociological requirements have divided mankind into many groups and tribes and prevented them from living as a single collectivity.

Secondly, the real aim behind this division is that various people are able to show and express their characteristics and features and are identified on their basis as separate groups, instead of being lost in the vastness of a single group. Furthermore, if as a result of this identification, some values exist in common, then efforts should be made for mutual cooperation and collaboration to achieve wider collective needs by regarding these values as the principles for such an alliance.

Thirdly, these groups and clans should not become a means for expressing arrogance, pride and vanity and an association with anyone of them should not be regarded as a basis for a person to be on the right path and should also not be regarded a standard for his nobility and righteousness because the most honoured in the sight of Allah are those who fear Him the most and observe the limits set by Him. If these groups instead of being a means of expressing individuality start showing hostility and malice towards each other then they shall not only be deprived of the very utility for which they were actually created, but also become a source of harm and injury for the society.

If in an Islamic State, groups, clans and parties do not exceed these limits and are strong and stable then they serve to check the tyranny and oppression of the rulers and restrain their dictatorial tendencies. They also nurture and nourish alternative leaderships for the country. They are the fountainhead of power for those in authority and their existence ensures the freedom of a society. Dictatorship and monarchy may not tolerate them, but the political system based on consultation envisaged by Islam thoroughly relishes their existence. Islam wants its followers to think and reflect and freely express themselves both through individual and collective means. Though it curtails this freedom, yet it does not totally prohibit it.

The Key to Everlasting Friendship

Making friends is easy; maintaining friendship is not. In fact, making ourselves unpopular is a job so easily done. One slip of the tongue, one harsh word, one instance of anger and we might end up losing our best of friends. What’s more – friends may even turn into foes if this tendency is not checked.

The key to a lasting friendship is self-control. But then, this is not easy. It only comes through a strong relationship with the Almighty, and a firm commitment to the notion that self-control and self-restraint in this world will lead us to great reward in the Hereafter.

One of the toughest impediments in exercising self-control is an unfavourable response from a friend. One often gets put off by a cold response. It is not easy to put up with such behaviour. The best and perhaps the most successful way to tackle it is to keep doing good regardless of what one encounters in return. This requires great effort and profound patience. It also requires that a person should not expect anything in return for a favour he does. If it is returned, he should consider it a bonus, and if it is not, he should continue to do good as long as he can and adhere to the dictum:

Do all the good you can

By all the means you can

In all the ways you can

In all the places you can

At all the times you can

To all the people you can

As long as you can

Islam › Why Are Muslim Suffering? by bilms(op): 3:17pm On May 15, 2009
A tiny minority of Muslims has engaged itself in a war (jihad) against the West in general and against the US, Israel, and India in particular. What they are doing through their military adventurism is causing the entire Muslim ummah suffering at the hands of the Jihadis and, because of their misadventures, at the hands of the US and others as well.

The analysis of the situation done by the Jihadi Muslims is that there is a grand conspiracy of the Jews which has caused the entire West to go against Islam and Muslims. They believe that the only way to counter this trend is to undertake an open war against them. If Muslims join hands and fight against the US, Israel, and India, God Almighty would help them in annihilating these enemies of God, His messenger, and Muslims.

Most certainly, proper solution to a problem is based upon two components: the right analysis of the problem and a sincere effort at implementing the solution based on the analysis. In my opinion the analysis of these Muslims is seriously flawed. The truth is that the opposition of the US, Israel, and India against Muslims and their successful attempts to subjugate and cause serious damage to us is not the cause of our woes. Their successful military adventurism against us is in itself the result of another, bigger cause. It is God’s displeasure with Muslims that has allowed Americans, Israelis, and Indians to successfully launch their military campaign against us because God is allowing them to be succeed in their mission. It cannot be that despite the fact that He doesn’t want them to cause damage to us, we would still suffer.

What is happening to us is exactly what happened to the Children of Israel, the Muslims of the earlier times, in their history of two thousand years before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad, Allah's mercy be on him. The Qur’an describes their suffering in these words:

“And we forewarned the Children of Israel in their Holy Book that ‘you will do mischief in the land twice through and you will become arrogant transgressors (and each time you will be punished).‘

When the promise for the first of the two fore warnings came to be fulfilled, WE SENT AGAINST YOU OUR SERVANTS WITH MILITARY MIGHT: THEY RAMPAGED THROUGH YOUR HOMES TO CARRY OUT THE PUNISHMENT OF WHICH YOU WERE FOREWARNED. Then after this, we afforded you an opportunity to overpower them and helped you with wealth and sons and granted you more manpower. If you perform well you do so for your own benefit; but if you do evil, it would cause harm to your own selves.

Then, when the promise for your second forewarning came to be fulfilled, (WE SENT ANOTHER ARMY) TO DISFIGURE YOUR FACES AND TO ENTER YOUR TEMPLE AS THE FORMER HAD ENTERED IT BEFORE AND THEY UTTERLY DESTROYED ALL THAT THEY LAID THEIR HANDS ON.

Now your Lord may again be merciful to you; but if you repeat the same behavior, we will repeat the punishment, and in the hereafter, we have made hell a prison for such unbelievers.

Surely this Qur'an guides to the way that is perfectly straight and gives the good news to the believers who do good deeds that they shall have a magnificent reward, and at the same time it gives warnings to those who do not believe in the hereafter, that we have prepared for them a painful punishment.” (Qur’an; 17:4-10)

Indeed one of these two analyses of the situation could be correct: It’s either the lack of proper willingness, as the Jihadis say, in the majority of Muslims to fight against the US and its allies which is causing Muslims to be damned in this world or it is God’s decision to inflict His punishment on Muslims through “our servants with military might” which is causing Muslims to be in the state of complete disarray. One of the two possibilities could be correct. Both cannot be simultaneously correct unless one agrees with the proposition that God is displeased with Muslims because they were not undertaking Jihad against the non-Muslims, which is what the Qur’an is most certainly not suggesting. The Qur’an is warning the Children of Israel in the above-stated passage of dire consequences because they did mischief on the land twice and they become arrogant transgressors.

The fact that God is punishing us through non-Muslims is undeniable. The reason this has happened is not because we are not undertaking proper war against our enemies but because of our “mischief” and “arrogance”. In my opinion the following are some of the prominent misdeeds that have invited God’s punishment to be inflicted on Muslims:

i) As a nation Muslims are corrupt. Cheating, disregard of merit, and breaking of commitments are some of the crimes we are consistently committing. Exceptions apart, hypocrisy is the hallmark of the present-day Muslims.

ii) The present-day Muslims are extremely arrogant. Despite being morally corrupt, Muslims are dead sure that they will eventually succeed in the hereafter while all non-Muslims shall be doomed.

iii) The greatest evil in the present-day Muslims is that although they were expected to bring non-Muslims closer to Islam by their good acts and words, they have caused them to hate the religion of God by presenting a picture of it which cannot incline a decent human being to accept it as the religion of God. The Islam Muslims are presenting appears to be against every beautiful blessing God has created for humans in this life; it seems to suggest that the creator of this world is, God forbid, extremely unfair in that He will look at the religion of humans and not their intentions and deeds while deciding about their eternal fate; they have also caused great harm to the message of God by creating the impression that hating fellow humans to the extent of even killing them was a part of the expectation of God from his His devoted servants.

If these allegations against Muslims were correct, how can a sane non-Muslim come close to Islam? And if non-Muslims, who are equally God’s creation, have been drawn away from His religion by the misdeeds of Muslims, how can He be pleased with them? And if He is annoyed with Muslims, why should He not punish them?

If what I am claiming is correct, then the Jihadis are fighting a losing battle, because they are not fighting against the Americans, Israelis, or Indians; they are fighting against God’s decision. If they are really interested in bringing back the lost glory of Muslims, they should address the problems that are causing God to be displeased with Muslims.

i wonder y most of u keep saying this,

the question is,

what source of income do they have in kwara, but still bukola achieved what he as achieved.

i am very sure, if bukola should handle Lagos with all the materials, he would definately superceed Fashola's performance,

Oscar J:
well no doubt Bukola is doing well but anyday anytime Fashola is still performing better than him. You know why? a state like kwara is not as wide as Lagos and the level of work to be done in both state is incomparable. if u put a fashola in Kwara then u will know Bukola is not there yet if u undertsand what i mean.

Lagos is still the nerve of Naija and if anyone can Govern this state and take it to the level its meant to be, then u can Preside over Naija as a whole but that in itself comes with its own challenges. why do u think PDP did everything to get the lagos seat?

Eko o ni baje o!
okay, how did Fashola Perform better than Bukola, what is his achievement compared to bukky,

as i am talking now, i am in ilorin, bukola is also doing some projects which are wonderful,.

i visited one of his project last week,

stanbilli is the name of the project,

just like an eagle square,

bukola came to visit that project while i was there,

to my greatest suprise, he drove his car by himself, an one other car followed him. no noise, no one ever knew it could be the governor coming so simple,

he did these to visit the how fast the project is monitor the movement of this project,

I used the word psychopath out of overheated irritation. To that, I tender my most sincere apology towards anybody it must have directly or inddirectly affected. It is only painful that Nigerians always resort to choosing between evils in their search for progress.

Raji Fashola isn't a saint, but by all parameters of governance, coupled with the socio-economic maladies that have been the lot of Lagos, one would say Fashola is a good and effective leader.

Saraki shouldn't even be talked about. I schooled in Ilorin, graduating just a year into his second term. Nothing! Nada! Zilch.

The electricity feat being claimed to have been achieved is not completely true. The actual picture should be painted for all to see.
uhh u sound like an angel  of distruction. sorry for aying dat,

u said u schooled in ilorin, and left a year b4 his second term and yet u could not see nanything he achieved,

no, u must be lying.

i have been staying in ilorin since the year 2001, uptill the tme bukola became the Governor.

even a blind man see the wonders of Bukola,

1. before bukky became the governor, we all use to see how secondary school students use to roam about the city, how the teachers usually stay out of school during the schol hours, but when he came he introduce another monitoring system that enforce the teachers to stay in the school and also enforce them to take the students at the appropriate time.

2. secondly, it is very clear how the secondary school students always cause riot every friday. btw 2 schools eg. IGS and Baboko, or Babiko and Jss and others, every friday, we usually see blood shared among students, braking of taxi glasses and more, but when he became the governor, he make sure all these stop by bring man Owar to every school,

3. also in kwara institution where cultism in a thin of pride, it is during his 1st term he concered them and right kwara state can be proud of less cultism in its institutions if not finally eradicated.

4. during his 1st term we have water supply, the onlky places where no watre supply are those area were they did not connect a pipe for water.

5. also introduce city cleaning and pay them well too.

many more things done by the Governor convinced the people in the state about his ability to deliver.

we all use to think about the dominance of his father as the God Father that he wont do anything, but he suprsed all by doing good.

about u dat said he became the GOvernor simple because of his Father,

did he also became the Chairman of all the Governor from these influence?
