Road worthiness is done by state govt. Let him drive his car into VIO office. He doesn't need a middleman

You are right. It can be done without a middleman

Depends on how much value you place on your time compared to what the middle man will collect.

I prefer to send money message, and use my time for productivity

400k consistently monthly.... for over a year....... and he hasn't gotten his own car yet...... and had to borrow money to pay his partner...

What I think is that someone somewhere in his village is using his photograph as Hand fan, while looking into a calabash...

Think he mentioned something about his own car giving him issues, had to sell off, just collected the car he was with. I think it was his first payment cos he mentioned the partner was very happy to get the 35k alert not knowing business not as good as it used to be.

Maybe instead of experience as a prerequisite, we should list appeasing village people cheesy

And when it comes to money and saving... Hmmn. Maybe person needs to also visit village people cheesy

Your points are valid, and that is still the same thing I'm iterating. A newbie can come on board today, leverage on experienced people's tips and make a success of e- hailing. This is very possible. All I'm just saying is no one has bragging rights yet, when it comes to experience until you can deliver 100,000+ consistently. 4 weeks is a good benchmark to start with. The way the market is now, we experienced ones target #130,000 to #150,000 a week. Ask Romeo or SlamStanlee. Upcoming ones are still looking for #100,000 ...

I agree with you...though I still think so many things in this business is not cast in stone. those business can be very dynamic.

met a driver at a mall who showed me his app. This guy has been doing it for over a year and doing 400k consistently every month, but he's complaining now that it's not so easy anymore. He told me he just borrowed money to pay his partner cos market is dull.

So what do we now say about this guyz experience status? He has also exceeded your 4 weeks benchmark.

anyways, I got some good tips from him, like not sitting in my car and moving closer to the people in the mall. but I was chilling in my car when security came with some guys and asked me 'are you uber? ' I said yes. then he was like, this guyz need a ride, their phone died. so they can't book via the app

that was how I got a good offline ride, just sitting in my car and na shit carry me enter the mall cheesy

so no one is bragging, like I said in my initial posts, a lot of luck is involved, but if you enjoy driving, have good sense of how people move in lagos and ready to work hard, I think you will still achieve 100k gross weekly irrespective of if you're new. you may just have to work longer hours to achieve it, which can be very stressful

I absolutely agree.
Before anyone can come and claim that experience is overrated, the person should first gross #100,000+ week in, week out; for minimum of 4 consecutive weeks

Funny you... So just ordinary 4 weeks Only. I thought you'll say at least 1yr.

It's only in this part of the world people believe you must go through the pains they went through in other to achieve what they have achieved.

sometimes it doesn't work like that. we don't always have to reinvent the wheel.

experience is an everyday thing, you get it while on the job. but you can easily ride on the experience of those that have done it successfully before you, and you'll be successful too. it's called leveraging

great tips are shared everyday here from you experienced guys. you may not see it as anything important, but some of us cherish it and make good use of it. I have even casted some tips from you in gold for future application cheesy

When experienced drivers gross over #200,000 in one week and you are netting less than #70,000, don't cry ooo. Lol cheesy grin

How often do you change your oil... and with advanced mobil 1 how often do you think you now change the oil,?

A lot, I believe depends on driving conditions. cars on e-hailing is a different ball game, they are the extreme end of the divide.

so if Mobil says 15k miles, Just divide by 2 or 3 to be safe, depending on your pocket

Your response clearly signifies you don't have experience.

This is what I mean.

Under rental, you only take care of minor repairs or even no repairs at all like in my own case. I like doing all repairs myself to ensure quality

Under HP, everything is on you driver, everything for at least 18 months. Suspension, ac, linkage, and maybe engine (if unlucky).

To survive you need to save at 8 to 10k weekly to cover for any expenses minus regular service.

You need to pay rentals, maybe 35k

Fuel 10 to 15k weekly (depends on the car)

You will eat, your family, extended, mistresses and concubines.

Under HP the minimum amount you should make weekly is 100k to be comfortable.

To make a consistent 100k weekly is not by reading the advice by gurus here.

Everyone knows theory is way different from practical.

Like they will always say, experience is the best teacher.

I still stand by my earlier assertion : DRIVING UNDER HP ARRANGEMENT FOR A NEW DRIVER W/O E-HAILING EXPERIENCE IS SUICIDAL.

yes, I don't have any experience, I made that clear, and I dont even know Lagos roads at all, yet I'm making money. I like it like that and there's always room for improvements.

I left taxify office at Admiralty 5.30pm yesterday when my taxify was activated and I could go online, I still made 7400 on taxify yesterday. today by 12pm I had made 11k on taxify alone. now I'm just chilling and playing with the kids at home. will hit the road again by 4pm.
now I wonder what I would be able to achieve with your so called experience if I can achieve this as a complete jjc.

my point still remains, you don't need experience to make money as a driver, you need common sense and be someone who enjoys driving.

the other stuffs you're talking about is managing finances, it's not about making money. even experienced drivers may fail in the aspect of financial or money management. and yes, driving under higher purchase needs serious planning and managing money, but the 1st step is to be able to make the money and this is my whole point, making the money is not so much tied to experience.

so for new drivers thinking of joining the platform, don't let anyone scare you. Just do it!

cheesy na so una dey fail exams

where did you see fuel. I said uber deductions, meaning after Uber 25% commission had been removed.

reason why I said that is cos I realised most people on taxify talk about earnings before taxify deductions

you have no idea the number partners who leave the business every day because of vehicle maintenance issues.

You also have no idea the number of riders that enter the market every day, I have taught a lot of spare part suppliers that it is cheaper to use uber to my workshop than pay Bike 2000 from ladipo Mushin to ogba. Do you think he will not use uber for other activities? The market will soon explode. Mean while from 7pm to 11:11pm I made 7190 yesterday.

I'll love useful inputs as to your adopted strategy on positioning during that period.. Biko.. smiley

No major strategy other than following tips that has been dropped by our Oga's here, then figuring out residential and commercial areas in any location I find myself In relation to time.

Example in the morning, I'll rather want to be in ajah axis than vi, but will prefer vi in the evening.

A lot of luck is involved cos you can't always dictate your destination, a lot depends on where the rider is going, but you can always try to figure out the most suitable spot in each area based on time and general likely movement of people

But certainly, I quickly figured out a lot of hardwork is involved... I did an average of 10 trips daily to get 10-15k daily average earnings. it's not easy. you need to be someone who enjoys driving.

I'm still learning, I'm sure they're better ways of achieving the same goals without that much stress.

Wait oooo are you saying the guy Andalusia or something doesn't have any form of experience?

If he's the one, please friends and well wishers, tell him, taking hp w/o any form of e-hailing experience not driving experience is SUICIDAL.

Theory is way different from practical.
Packaging will not service the car or do repairs as under hp he will do everything and still remit rental, slightest default, he looses everything!

If he's the one ooo, there's a problem cos I remember taking my sweet time to advise him on the importance of starting with rental and I mentioned Experience.

But he compounded my secondary school understanding of the issue with more oyibo and subliminal side boots.

Like I said earlier, e-hailing business has evolved in Nigeria to been pure street!!!

Udo Ụmụnnem.

Experience for e-hailing business is grossly overrated.

All that is required is to be a good driver and simple common sense.

I decided to test driving on Uber

My first week driving was last week and I did 92k on Uber after Uber deductions and I dont even know Lagos roads, just making use of maps

Hello everyone,

Recently I have been getting this issue : GPS signal lost. Sometimes I have to wait during trip to get back the GPS signal because I rely on Google Maps for directions . And I just started using smile modem(Wifi ). The issue happens on both smile network and 9 mobile network I use .

Is it still calculating the fare when it loses GPS signal? What do I do to keep this GPS signal? Thanks.

Thanks.

What phone are you using?

Try to go to location settings and see if you can set the GPS to high accuracy

Also try to set it to use both network and GPS for location. Maybe yours had been set to network only. So if you have connection issues with your network, your location will disconnect

Please guys I'm thinking of joining the Uber family. What's the requirements. I will be driving my own car. Please I need a comprehensive explanation on how to go about it. Or if there is anyone I can WhatsApp to give me the info. Thanks. Expecting a feedback asap.

Documents required are

Driving license
Road worthiness
Insurance (could be third party or comprehensive)

You would need to complete a simple online test and a training.

All the above steps can be done know online without visiting their office. Which includes creating your profile, uploading your documents, and having the test and training.

But a lot of people prefer to visit their office which is at Maryland mall
