If it was easy, why didn't driver buy his own car?

There are lots of drivers on the platform driving their own cars. Some even started with driving their cars, then they got more cars and also engaged drivers. So stop talking like buying a car is rocket science, same way drivers should not feel like driving is rocket science.

You sound more like one driver, I gave my vehicle for HP, he default on 3 occasions, when I try retrieving the vehicle, he challenge me, we are business partners, that he bought a vehicle from me, paid me some part, that I have no right to retrieve the vehicle. I just laughed and ask him, why didn't he tell me the same thing, wen he was looking 4 the opportunity.

Auctions don't sell on credit, shipping companies don't ship on credit, for custom, if u delay ur duty payment, demurrage follow.

Hear me now, yes I'm arrogant, me and you not the same level, if you drive my car, I'm ur boss.

Driver is employed to drive, no such thing as partnership.

Partnership is only Uber and owner.

I think is time we start paying you guys salary and stop all this weekly remittance.

When next u looking for a car, tell the owner he is not the boss, that you are his partner and see if he will give you a car.

We see things differently, which is actually a good thing.

I am a car owner, and if I were to engage a driver on Uber, I choose to see him as a partner and not an employee. It doesn't in anyway affect the terms of the contract we sign together.

Once there's no default, no wahala.

I am neither a car owner nor driver on any e-hailing platform and have no intentions of being either.
All this driver must have take home that's greater than what he remits to car owner or fleet manager is greed.
How many people here who work for companies/organizations (whether big or small) can confidently say their monthly income is greater than 50% of what they make for their employers?
The only reason people are thinking and coming out to say the driver should earn more money than car owner is because he has total access all resources in the business.
In every situation I know or have heard of, investor/ employer/business owner makes more money than any employee.
Every driver that wants to take the same amount of money home with car owner is directly setting himself up for failure because that means he has to make atleast three times the amount he remits; with each third going into car running/maintenance, car owner ROI and driver income.
Example: Weekly delivery of 25k, shared maintenance or repair clause and driver wants to earn atleast 25k too means.
Weekly remit =25k
Car running/ maintenance contribution= 25k
Driver take home =25k+X
Total = 75k+X
After 3 months max one of car or driver or both will be unavailable for a greater part of a week and driver won't be able to meet up for with that week's payment and this will be commencement of problem because owner thinks his remit his small and he shouldn't have any complain, driver will think owner is inconsiderate due to his sense of entitlement which in the first place led him to believe he should earn more than car owner.
Driver will eventually suffer greatest loss because he will lose car - source of income, which will lead him to signing a worse contract on next offer.
Vehicle owner still has his car, in a worst case scenerio of car total loss he gets compensation, if driver dies he may still be the one to get claim for driver's life and pass whatever he wants on to driver's family.

Any driver who thinks the value on his life his greater than the cost price of vehicle invested by car owner should claim he has terminal disease or was kidnapped for his family members and see how much they will raise within a week if it is more than the cost of the car take it and go and buy car, then become a driver partner. If not, be humble and contented with a reasonable amount that you can easily replicate monthly.

I am not jollof, I can't make everyone happy.

But a driver is not an employee in that sense... A driver is the active partner in the business while the car owner is the passive partner

Those very queer Uber riders dem...someone has actually ordered me before because he wanted me to buy Bread and Butter for him cos it was very late and he was in an estate and maybe him and babe don quaff finish and hunger dey hammer am..after grudgingly doing it cos he really begged and I was trying to avoid cancelling cos my rate was very high the dumb guy still made sure he collected 200 change from 1k he gave me and I was like sebi u see maga today...

Delivery on Uber can be risky, especially for edible items.

What if after delivering the bread and butter or cake, and there was a case of food poisoning?

Trust me it will turn to another story.

But won't it stress the power bank and affect the batteries on the long run?

It's a pass through technology. The device is being charged with light source from the mains and not the power bank battery once there's light

yes, its business but im not scared of competition. I just pity those on rentals of 40k. If this continues, most of them won't be able to meet up. Rentals should not be more than 30k for 2.0l and above engines and 35k for below. The best time to drive now is weekends.

Law of demand and supply will take care of your fears should that time come when you have more cars than riders

Since there is light to charge the power bank kuku plug the device directly to light na, abi?

And if your fast asleep nko? Or you stepped out, remember it's not only phone that you'll probably take along with you when stepping out you charge with power bank.

So many gadgets you may need to charge unattended

Why charging devices with the power bank while charging same?

It's a plus, cos you could be charging a device with a power bank and step out or fall asleep. When light is restored, it ensures your device keeps charging. And you don't have to be unplugging your devices from the power bank and plugging to mains each time light is restored.

I once had xiaomi power bank that had this feature and it was a life saver

Good quality power banks are not cheap.
I have the 20,000mah version of that Aukey ($31) and it is really good.

If you see any cheap powerbank claiming high capacity like 20,000mah for 5k, it is most likely a lie...

The one you have, does it support pass through charging?

I mean can you charge a device with the power bank, while the power bank itself is charging.

I have noticed some power banks don't support this, which renders the power bank useless while it's being charged

Being empty even makes it more risky. It Can only be balanced if the major load is at the front end of the container, but even at that, this is still a very risky move

Ok, so how long have you been on Uber and what's your current rating? and hope you have the upfront payment of N35k?

Since you intend to collect upfront payment weekly, should his rating or how long he's been on Uber really matter? As you really have nothing to lose.

If all of you are asking for experience, what hope will new drivers have?.

if new driver (like me cheesy) is willing to pay upfront to prove himself worthy, since partner has nothing to lose, they should be given the chance

You left out distance driving when there's no rider in your car, i.e on your way to pickup, on your way home after close of work

I also left out income that could come from minutes. N11/min
I also used N180 as fuel
I also set aside 15k weekly as maintenance, that 60k every month, which I think it's a bit on the high side

So it will balance out

Also imagine if the driver is a machine like Romeo3 grin

Some people must have tried it before saying it is not advisable. You'd spend more on maintenance and fueling. Long run its not worth it. Get a smaller engine.

It's not advisable for rentals... But if it's your personal car and you're driving yourself, it may just bitok.

Let's do a simple worst case scenario calculation.

Mpg values for that car city driving is 15mpg or about 6km/liter of fuel.

I remember Chief Gazzuz said a car does an average of 1500-2000km per weekly

Using the lower value of 1500, that will give us 250litres of fuel weekly

If we assume fuel is N180/litre that gives us N45,000 total cost on fuel

Now let's use N60/km to calculate income, @ 1500km that's N90,000 income... Remember we did not add any income that could come from minutes driven, we used just distance... We are looking at worst case scenario

If we subtract fuel expenses 90k-45k, we still have 45k left. He can decide to set aside 15k as weekly budget for maintenance.

So at the end of the week, he's left with 30k as take home which is not bad for a car owner.

This is just to show you that it's still workable for a car owner driving himself, but obviously it's not advisable as rentals

On the long run, such cars ( Suvs ) are not ideal for this business.

You would be surprised it's still possible to make the 40k( or more) the driver delivers to the partner if you're driving your SUV yourself.

You just have to try it for a couple of weeks, if it doesn't work, no problem

I know you're saying the truth and it's unfortunate what happened to you.. Hope you get justice you deserve.

But on another note, if the reverse was the case, and a man grabbed you because you bashed his car and you were about to leave the scene, you probably would have screamed and shouted rape/kidnap just like your colleague sola fapson.

Look at what you said..
I grabbed him, you bashed my car and you are calling me names and at the same time wanting to flee the scene.

I held firmly to his shirt since that was the only thing I could do as a woman at that time,

Why should you grab him... And what exactly do you mean by the only thing you could do as a woman?

Is it now OK for a woman to grab a man? But if a man grabs a woman it's rape right? All these ladies just like shifting goal post. Until you begin to practice what you preach, it will take a while before we start taking all these feminism stuff you people are preaching seriously

Someone was walking away and you grabbed him...he probably thought you wanted to rape him, so he ran into his car. But you refused to leave him and since he didn't have any pepper spray, he used his key instead tongue

In this business, I believe the vehicle SHOULD be able to sustain and maintain itself with proper inputs from all who PROFIT from the vehicle.

I see the vehicle as a BUSINESS tool, so sentimental attachment to the vehicle should be out of the way for effective USAGE.

Proper management of this BUSINESS tool falls into the hands of the DRIVER - FLEET MANAGEMENT. Proper management means that the LOWEST COST possible has to be incurred in the running of the BUSINESS tool.

The DRIVER has to have that basic mechanical idea of issues that can / will arise from daily running of the BUSINESS tool

The FLEET MANAGEMENT has to have preventive maintenance scheduling in place, partner with right auto workshop, insurance, fleet management options and solutions.

Every one has to be happy in partnership - the investor - fleet management - Driver - vehicle.

Starting Feb 4th, we will be putting out various ways to which you can partner with us as we change the narrative. We believe with all parties involved, we will be able to achieve something that benefits all.

Let's Change the narrative.

Terms and conditions.

The story above has a lot of parts that favours the complainant. There are always 3 sides to a story.

When the complainant was agreeing to terms and conditions, he didn't make it public. There are many parts to this issue that was conveniently hidden. I refuse to be drawn into an online back and forth squabble, especially when everyone waiting for the downfall of us have drawn out daggers. There are more mature ways to settle an issue, and that is the path i insist on towing.

You publicly advertised on this platform, now there's an issue that has not been resolved to the partners satisfaction, the partner has every right to bring the issue here to ask for meditation if he feels he has tried every matured way of resolution to no avail.

The best you could have done is contact the partner, apologize and try to resolve, you can then come here to tell us that it's being handled and will be sorted out.

I am seriously rooting for you guyz to succeed. Remember I'm the one that transfered N1.4m to to you guys last year for a purchase without meeting or knowing anyone of you and you delivered. Met you the first time when you delivered on the purchase.

It's easier to destroy than to build, I would advice you guys go back to the drawing board and work on the cracks that may affect the longevity of what you're building

Based on the information provided by the partner, This looks like a very simple case that was allowed to turn to something else.

insurance was ready to take care of the expenses once a quote was provided.

All that was required was just for flexexpert rep and driver to show up. I don't really understand what's so difficult in that.

PS.. This is based on the information from a party, would like to hear from other parties involved before making fair deductions

In the part of the video I saw, she clearly asked the guy not to touch her and the guy did. She screamed afterwards. So i don't get your screaming card, or her screaming wasn't loud enough for you? Nonsense!!!

You mean you actually watched the video and you did not notice the obvious editing? Why was the audio muted when the driver wanted to open the door? It was obvious that part was intentionally muted. If she has nothing to hide, let's see the full video
Travel / Re: Dorcas Shola Fapson Releases Video Of Taxify Driver Attacking Her by bily(m): 8:49am On Jan 26, 2018
If I were to guess, I would wager she's lying. So many holes in her story.

Is it possible you intend to lock someone in your car, you alight from the same car, leave the keys in the ignition and leave the driver door open? It's more likely the driver got down to force her out of his car.

I watched the video she posted as proof, it was cconveniently edited to her favor. How come the was no audio except at the point where she said 'if you touch me'and then screamed.?

To me, the video corroborated the drivers story more than hers.

Even when she started recording the video, it was not a video of someone is a panic of being kidnapped. She knew what she was doing and wanted to document to her advantage.

Let her release the full video with audio without any edits inbetween
