Meanwhile.....like they say every update has its pros and cons and Samsung will always go the extra mile to make life difficult for their users. They want to control your every move and that's why they introduced "Knox".
The more reason why we have to root out and free ourselves from their incarceration.

That said, since I upgraded my S4 from 4.3 to 4.4.2, my Screen Mirroring has stopped working. It worked flawlessly with 4.3 and I played my "Need For Speed Most Wanted" through my 42" LED TV but since the update to 4.4.2 it looks like this feature was disabled. Some say it's an attempt by Samsung to coerce users to buy their "All Share Cast Dongle". I presently use Miracast Dongle. But why will they do that?
Is anybody experiencing similar problems here? And how did you get it sorted out? Inputs please.

Slowpois0n: you got it all wrong man. rooting doesn't give features, it unlocks the System folder. you dont have to root before installing a custom firmware, just flash a recovery image from fastboot, boot into the recovery and flash your rom. we use custom roms because of the added features and simplicity.
Do you actually think he understands all that tech glitches? He's just a phone user from what I can decode from his statement so far. Imagine what he said about rooting.....very funny.

When you root your device you're an inch close to being a developer because you get a lot of possibilities that ordinarily you don't get out of the box. You get so much control of your device, more like jailbreaking your iOS. I've rooted and unrooted my device severally with no worries.....And if you need more power still flash a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP Recovery.

The Android OS is just too sweet......you can't see the potentials in it until you are rooted. And then you become your own boss!

stardragon: pls how can i update my tecno q1:iccream 4.0.0 to kitkat 4.4.2.

Any help??
I think you should visit the official support page for your device manufacturer.
PhonesRe: Between Jellybean And Kit - Kat. The Difference. by bimbor(m): 7:10pm On Sep 11, 2014
The basic argument for this file size is for you all to understand that the update size varies from device to device. Mine is Samsung Galaxy S4.....and I downloaded directly from Sammobile, the official site for Samsung Firmwares. Your own device firmware may have a smaller update size, so it all boils down to which device you use.

Gurus in d house pls help me na....I'm in lagos
No need to unroot. Just download the file and upgrade manually using odin. That's if you use a Samsung device oh. After upgrade you can re-root your device.

DjAndroid: I have now noticed that the upgrade came in with "device cooler"
Clean master displayed it. And the device doesn't get hot the way it used to when in was running jellybean.

I am looking out for more changes.
Spot on bro. With Jelly bean my phone used to get so hot that sometimes I would think it may just fry!

With this new kitkat upgrade nothing like that at all. The phone now feels so cool from morning till night.
PhonesRe: Between Jellybean And Kit - Kat. The Difference. by bimbor(m): 6:10pm On Sep 11, 2014
The most striking improvement I noticed after my own upgrade is the "Improved Battery Life". Now my battery lasts much longer.

Jelly bean is a battery vampire. It pratically ruined my S4 Stock battery. I had to order for another stock battery.

With this new 4.4.2 kitkat, Google got it right for once. I was already blaming Samsung and planning on buying the S5 but with the improved Battery life on my S4, thanks to the OS upgrade, I guess I'm holding on to my Fantastic "4" for now.

Other notable improvements: Kitkat has a better and more responsive UI than JB, Start up time is now shortened, Better Optimized RAM, etc

PS: I upgraded my S4 via PC using Odin. I downloaded the OS manually to my PC. The file is very large ooh, almost 2GB!

If your phone is rooted you cannot get OTA software updates, besides I think it's safer to download and install manually than doing it OTA due to our irregular ISPs. They can brick your phone with internet outage.

Car TalkRe: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by bimbor(m): 5:38pm On Sep 10, 2014
davo3286: Guy, throttle body cleaning doesn't aggravate anything. It's either your mech doesn't know jack about throttle body cleaning or he knew but failed to follow proper procedure. I have done throttle body cleaning many times on my vehicles by myself. There is no electrical part inside the throttle body but a butterfly valve which usually get dirty with carbon hence the need to clean. Probably your mech used injector cleaner spray and sprayed too much of the fluid into the opening or he didn't couple the air hoses properly and therefore there is a vacuum leak which I believe was the cause of the high idle speed. What he should have done is allow it to dry after cleaning; couple everything securely and then perform the "Idle Speed Re-learn Procedure". Guy, you just wasted your money and probably you bought a bad throttle body. Did they perform the Idle Relearn Procedure after installation? I guess not.
How is the idle relearn procedure performed?

Leopantro: 1. that particular infra-red Thermometer can be used at a distance of 5 to 15cm from the forehead. from the picture above the security man is beyond that range.

2. the Thermometer needs to be caliberated to the room temperature by comparing with a normal Thermometer then adjusting it to correspond to the body temperature. most people don't do that.

3. the forehead needs to be clean amd without sweat.

4. can switch from surface temperature and body temperature. Each have different values.

5. some infra-red thermometers where made in colder climates so a correction factor needs to be added to each value obtained.

i do hope such security guards are taught how to effectively use such devices.
Lol.....u can bet no one does all this correction factors before using the thermometer.

olrotimi: Its been ages since i last went to the banking hall, however i had to visit the bank to renew my ATM card. On getting there i noticed the porter putting a device to customers' head.before they enter the banking hall. When it got to my turn, the following conversation ensued:

Porter: Goodmorning Sir, welcome to XYZ bank.....

Me: Thankyou.

Porter: Sir let me check your BP [pointing device to my head]

Me: [curiously wandering what business banks have with BP
[device beeps]

Porter: See[showing me device reading] your BP is normal, 36.7

In my mind am like 'oh! loool,in their mind these guys are taking 'precautionary measures' to fish out those with ebola cos its widely advertised that fever is a key feature of ebola.

Interesting enough, there was a suspected case of ebola with classical presentation on monday at the Teaching Hosp of which i was the casualty officer who saw the patient & funny enough the patient died shortly after presenting(sample sent to lagos came out yesterday to be negative).

The info obviously got to town prompting the bank to begin temp check.
So am beginning to ask myself, does it mean an ill patient(maybe with malaria) cannot transact in the bank again? Arent we taking this ebola thngy a little bit too far?
@Op are you by chance talking about the patient that presented at ABU Teaching Hospital on Monday? You mean the dude is dead?

GAZZUZZ: LG govt boys are on the rd to collect road taxes, radio licence tax, mobile adverts, .......... There are a lot of taxes corporate bodies ard supposed to pay every year, funny thing is if you enter any local govt office to pay for this stuff every thing will cost you between 5-10k (depending on your bargaining power) but on the road hmmm its a different ball game, since they stoped them from putting sticks and nails on the road, they now work with the security agents at security check points e.g army will stop you and tell you to park, LG boys will continue the interogation.

As for the custom duty guy even a car I bought here on nairaland last week (tokumbor unregistered) with tincan custom duty was stopped at okene as it was being delivered they pointed out 1 very small detail and said yes the car was cleared in tincan but the agent did not pay all the processing fees! How they figured it out I don't know, well I called up the chap that sold the vehicle, he called up the agent, agent called customs 7hrs later money exchanged hands (agent transfered cash)car was released. Now for that type of car your heart would alwasy skip a beat when you get to a custom check point.

For the custom duty I DONT CARRY THE CERTIFICATES IN MY VEHICLE, I just flash a get out of jail card when stopped and move on.
Lol @ Get out of jail card

Bros u sure say dat ur get out of jail card no be Ak47? grin

HealthEbola Virus Disease Confirmed In Zaria! by bimbor(op): 12:42pm On Sep 02, 2014
A nursing student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has recently tested positive to the dreaded Ebola virus. The student who is a Spain National was said to have flown in from Spain to resume the new session and yesterday she took ill and was taken to the School Sick Bay from where she was transferred to ABU Teaching Hospital where she was tested and found to be positive to Ebola virus.

My question is how did she pass through our airport unscreened? I think our government are not doing enough to protect our borders.

Okay I've just been wondering, is the ATF inside the car supposed to last for the life of the car? Or is it supposed to be changed after covering some certain miles?
Please the house should shed some light on this issue.

Should the ATF be changed? If so, at what miles?
SportsUpdate On Supersport 7 by bimbor(op): 12:47pm On Aug 31, 2014
Lately I noticed that Supersport no longer airs any English Premier League match on Supersport 7, just SS3, SS5 and Supersport Select 2.

Is this a deliberate move by Dstv or is it that they don't have full Coverage rights for the English Premiership anymore? Yesterday, of the 4 matches that were played simultaneously, only 2 matches were shown on Dstv SS3 and SS5, same match that showed on SS3 was also shown on Select 2.

Why are Dstv deceiving Nigerians? This is tantamount to a breach of contractual agreement. They tell us they will show all 380 games live but that is no longer the case.

Supersport 7 used to show premiership games before, why did they scrap it?

I subscribe to the Compact Plus package which views SS7....for 3 weeks running I cannot see any Football game on SS7.

Ikenna351: V6 engine is just an engine with 2 extra cylinders, more valves, 2 cylinder banks and different engine shape. Any mechanic that does not see it that way, then he shouldn't be your mechanic, let alone touch your bonnet.

Ikenna
And those 2 extra cylinders aren't there for nothing grin
Car TalkRe: I'm Planning To Buy Toyota Camry Se 2007 Please Advice by bimbor(m): 10:20am On Aug 31, 2014
@Op another factor you need to consider is the resale value, Yes V6 is good but trust me Nigerians don't like V6 Sedans. Except you plan to use the car for life, It's easier finding a buyer for your 4 cylinder than a V6. I speak from experience though.
Car TalkRe: I'm Planning To Buy Toyota Camry Se 2007 Please Advice by bimbor(m): 10:12am On Aug 31, 2014
Ikenna351: Please, could you educate us on how the "V6 engine is more problematic" like you said. I am very much willing to learn.

Ikenna
Lol...obitee you don enter one chance, that is Ikenna challenging you cheesy
Car TalkRe: I'm Planning To Buy Toyota Camry Se 2007 Please Advice by bimbor(m): 10:06am On Aug 31, 2014
elbedso: It's decent enough. Just make sure you get the v6 and not the i4. And you could really enjoy the ride
Well if you are getting the V6 just push for the fullest option XLE with thumb start ignition. Inside that trim Toyota packed all options available.

But be rest assured that maintenance for a V6 is more expensive than a 4 cylinder. So it all depends on your choice and if you are ready to shell the extra cash. Your car will be using about 7 litres of engine oil as opposed to 4.7 litres for 4 cylinder, that's about 2 gallons, if u are using Mobil 1 that's about 34k per serving, Meanwhile with 4 cylinder u spend about 15k for Mobil 1.

The easy availability of the parts is also an issue and that is one area where the 4 cylinder takes all, just go to any sales outlet, the parts are there and cheap but for V6 you will almost be paying double for each part.

So V6 or I4, the choice is all yours.

adanny01: Its either you exagerated on the honda or your car had a major fault.

Ibadan to Kaduna is +/-700km depending on your route. I have done Uyo to kaduna which is about 850km with 76litres which is a tank and lessthan a quarter on 2003 accord with a bad air/fuel ratio sensor. A scan shows the fuel system is on open loop. I expect to have used about 65litres if my sensor was good. If i have a good sensor the same Ibadan to Kaduna on my 2003 accord will be no more than a tank just like your 2008 camry as both have 2.4litre engines.

Unless your accord was a v6, inspite that, 2 tanks (120litres) is outragious. Imagine 5.8km/litre against a factory 14.3km/litre highway, your fuel tank must be leaking to the ground!
Lol.....the tank was not leaking oh cheesy

I think is because the car was V6.....anyway that one na story for the gods now.....I don port go Toyota the sweetest baby in the world grin

Replace faulty parts with original and same part number.

You will just be happy driving every time.....
