The institution is respected, it is the occupiers that are disrespecting the institution.

They do not have powers to summon everybody. They only have powers to.summon Ministers or public officers in case of investigation of corrupt act.

They should respect the institution by not arrogating powers they do not have to themselves.
Just wondering if you are not contradicting yourself.
The IGP is a public servant, paid by tax payers money allocated by the same Senate he is refusing to appear before...

Why are we always like this in Nigeria and Africa?

Why are we always melodramatic?

Why has a senate summons become a matter to be decided by a court when serious matters are yet to be addressed?

The IG is just playing games with the Senate because he knows the proposed meeting is to hammer him but then if his case is iron clad why not go there and rubbish them and their arguments as many others before him have done in the past (remember Sanusi?)

Meanwhile, the pendulum swings both ways here. Where is it written that he requires a court order to appear before the senate upon receipt of their summons? Does he not have the prerogative to apply discretion?

I am not a Melaye lover as I have said many times past but the public show of Shame (true or concocted) and the national importance of the underlying happenings should have simply lead him to tow the path of humility and respect for an important arm of the government which he purportedly serves.

He is wasting our tax money instituting a worthless and needles case in court.

Is this how low we have become debased in this country? He could simply have just told them the day he will be available and stick to it. What is all this nonsense self?

Not exactly true sir.

The BBC even stated in the documentary that the company was investigating the staff.

Emzor didn't do "nothing".

We need to learn to protect our own in Nigeria and Africa. Is what happened at Emzor that different from what happened in Facebook (Cambridge Analytica scandal)?

Was facebook shut down even when it was clear that they were negligent and culpable in putting millions of people at risk? The answer is no.

Instead they called the head honcho, gave him a talking too and asked him to do better.

If this was Nigeria, NCC might have banned facebook and shut down it's operations

Freaking investigation? Okay. The matter on ground has to do with the ministry of health, I don't know how herding comes in. If these companies have nothing to hide, they should have cooperated maximally. BTW, you just shifted goal post, your previous premise was a tribal one which I negated. If Emzor is guilty as supposed, they should face the music, Nigerians don't care if the owner if from the moon.
Bros I am not from the east. I a from Edo. My wife is Ijebuode, my best friend is from ebonyi and I schooled in Niger state with most of my friends from there.

The statement on herdsmen was not out of ethnicity. It was to compare the way both incidences that affect human health and life, and also means of livelihood/ employment have been handled.

Closing down factories because of one drug and one official is wrong and non productive. Same matter with herding. They provide all our beef and also employment so it won't make sense banning it too, but we can clean it up by ranching.

That is all I am saying. Clean up the process for distribution and retailing but don't close the factories

Dear deomelo

I am back home now so I have your time.

I was aware of the write up as far back as February so that's nothing new to me. The thread is doing exactly what I wanted to see.

I state once again that this deal was bloated and a bad one for Nigeria on the basis of comparative analysis.

This Brazilian aircraft was sold to other Third World countries in the past so we were not the first. Did you take time to compare the costs for Nigeria to the other countries?

Are you aware that this deal was not done directly between the two governments but between Nigeria and a private contractor in the US? The government is only involved as a matter of law that requires govt approval for weapons deals of this nature to ensure that the US doesn't arm the wrong people or governments (even though we all know that their weapons end up in terrorists' hands all over the world).

I will like to negate this write up on which you have purportedly placed your conviction that the deal is adequately priced and not inflated with the following arguments:-

1.That a deal is confirmed by a US govt agency doesn't necessarily mean the deal is not inflated. It simply means that the deal is confirmed okay in line with the laws governing arms sales by US firms.

2.That you attached the write up from that agency stating the proposed contract amount and what it covers does not mean that we Nigerians did not get the short end of the stick because the agency is not involved in the pricing. The is was agreed with the arms contractor, which is a private firm out to make profit. The company is called SIERRA NEVADA CORP which does slot of space and defence contracts for the US government and it's owned by a billionaire husband and wife.

Please read the write up below. I have s

SIERRA NEVADA CORP. AWARDED $172.5 MILLION TO PROVIDE SIX A-29 AIRCRAFT TO LEBANON
US Department of Defense
October 30, 2015
Sierra Nevada Corp., Mary Esther, Florida, has been awarded a $172,500,000 firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for six A-29 aircraft. Contractor will provide six A-29 aircraft with associated support and equipment. This contract also provides for spares, support equipment, alternate mission equipment, interim contractor support, and engineering technical services for the A-29 aircraft. Work will be performed at Mary Esther, Florida, and is expected to be complete by July 31, 2019. This contract is 100 percent foreign military sales for the republic of Lebanon"

This same aircraft was sold to Lebanon with all the so called extra stuff you quoted as being responsible for the additional $200m + on our bill at $172.5m for 6 pieces. This means each one comes to only $28.75m per plane, while the same shot sold to us with same extras comes to $41.3m each!! A difference of almost $12m per aircraft.

Please Oga can you explain this to me?

PoliticsControversy On Tucano Aircraft Purchase Prices by Bishopsgate(op): 4:29pm On May 08, 2018
The US mission in Nigeria has said all enquiries on the Tucson purchase should b3 addressed to the Nigerian Govt.

I had in the past mentioned that the figures did not add up and that we coughed up cash today to get even less value by 2020. What do you think?

"The Nigerian government is enmeshed in a controversy over purchase price of the aircraft which is meant to effectively decimate Boko Haram - Depending on the configuration, each A29 Super Tucano aircraft is reported to cost between $9 and $18 million Following the controversy surrounding the purchase of 12 A29 Super Tucano aircraft by the Nigeria government, the United States has rebuffed enquiries on the purchase price of the aircraft. The Nigerian government is currently enmeshed in the controversy over the manner of payment for the aircraft without appropriation by National Assembly, a development that stirred mutterings by legislators who want the president sanctioned over the issue"

Emzor was closed because they are not cooperating with ongoing investigation. You don't have to spew ignorance all over by attributing the closure to tribal reasoning. You can do better than this.
Which freaking investigation are you talking about?
What is yet to be discovered or unearthed?

1. There is a codeine abuse epidemic especially in the North.

2. People buy them off the shelf without any form of restriction or prescription.

3. We need to ensure that pharmacies are adequately regulated to ensure that only those that truly need it get it.

4. To do 3 above, laws need to be put on place to guide the manufacturers on distribution modalities to ensure it gets to the pharmacies only who will only dispense on receipt of a valid prescription.

Closing and employer of labour in a country like ours that is grossly suffering from unemployment and under manufacturing is just self destructive.

If human life is really important to the government, Why hasn't the ministry of agriculture banned cow herding and grazing in Nigeria due to the thousands of people that have died as a result of the long archaic method of meat production and the wahala it creates with farmers and replace it with ranching?

So it's the factories that can be closed so easily via fiat abi?

rusher14:
Emzor and the likes cannot claim they didn't realise a disproportionate hike in demand of a product that is strictly a medicine one that could be abused.

When you start churning out medicines like you would beverages it means you are encouraging abuse.

A massive fine should be imposed on these pharmaceutical companies who participated in encouraging abuse of this product well against the ethics of the profession.

I see Nigerians above me once again supporting evil because that is their latest fad.

Nigeria would never be that country you desire it to be as long as your immediate reaction is cynicism and hate.
I totally disagree with you.

This action by Nafdac has nothing to do with patriotism or the desire for a better Nigeria.

It's just a punitive knee jerk reaction to an embarrassing documentary which exposed their incompetence at carrying out the job that we, the citizens of this country had been paying them to do.

The drug in question was not classified as a drug which could not be sold off the shelf neither was it designated as a controlled substance, not by Nigerian Law or by Nafdac themselves. The companies in question were thus not required to control it's sale modalities. Meanwhile I would like to remind you that the companies illegally shut by nafdac are not retailers as they do not sell directly to consumers so how are they party to wrong consumption or abuse by consumers?

The only company that could have an over stretched sense of culpability is emzor and I stress it that to accord culpability to emzor due to the actions of one staff is a gross over stretch of conjecture!

These companies are manufacturers and not pharmacies.

NAFDAC failed in its responsibility and is only Trying to save face. Are they saying they were not aware of the codeine epidemic in the north for over 10 years? Is it not their responsibility to "control" drug consumption, production and administration to protect the consumers. Where was Nafdac all this while?

Instead of looking into their modus operandi to fine tune it to prevent easy access to the drugs through the retail end of the spectrum they are here heaping and throwing blames around.

If these companies are culpable then NAFDAC is just as culpable!
Christianity EtcRe: What Is Life? by Bishopsgate(m): 10:06pm On May 06, 2018
Thank God!! A worthy thread finally!!

My brother I will not claim to have all the answers but I can at least share my own knowledge and insights with you and I hope they will help you.

Before I do I will like to let you know that you are at the precipice of self realization and revelation. The events and the thoughts that brought you to this point were all part of your journey to self realization and revelation of your true essence.

To understand the meaning or value of life on earth you would need disabuse your mind of a lot of things you have been thought by society, parents, religion, schools and all worldly influences perceived by the 5 senses. This is because life is spiritual and cannot be perceived in its true form by all of these senses.

In the first place, you need to understand that YOU predate your "life" on earth. Life is simply the time that you spend on earth. It is not the totality of your existence or being.

"Life" as it is known on earth is considered to begin from conception in the womb but counting starts the minute you are born into this world. If you continue to believe this calculation to be true then you will never understand the value life.

Before you or anyone on this earth was born he/she existed in spirit and lived in the spirit realm. This sounds far reaching but even the major religions hint at it but they continue to keep stuff from people because it makes them easier to control and keeps this world moving. Revealing the truth will kill the world as we know it. And this is why it is written that my people perish for the lack of knowledge.

Before you were born you existed and had your own name. And that is why it was written :
[i]
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations."[/i]

All life comes from God Almighty. God is a spirit and we are all his children. Spirit begets spirit. You come into this world (life) with nothing except your flesh (body) and spirit but at death you leave with only your spirit. The flesh (no matter how beautiful and perfect it was) is left here on earth to rot away.

Life is a degraded form of our true existence and form to allow for a testing of the spirit for TRUTH. All the travails and challenges experienced by all men are only possible in this degraded form. Poverty, sadness, barrenness difficulty are all problems of the flesh and there is a reason why God allowed it all.

Your spirit man belongs to God as you are part of him and came from him. The Devil, the prince of this world owns the world (please note I said the world not the earth - they are not the same) and has permission to o test all of God's children in a bid to ensure that they become tainted and unable to return to God as God is pure and cannot behold sin.

Have you never asked why God has continued to allow all the evil and wickedness in the world when he could put it all to an immediate end? He is not wicked or heartless to just ignore his own children. Our life is a test to see if indeed we will do God's will when tested.
In the spirit everything is in black and white, good and bad only. There is no in between. He is The Truth and the Devil is the Father of the lie as written.

All our senses make all the tests possible because they have the capacity to portray the lies of the devil. This senses are the reason why the Fisherman sank when he realized he was walking on water. His whole being and senses told him it is impossible to walk on water.

These senses are man's greatest enemy in building faith. When Christ said we would tell mountains to move if we had faith like a mustard seed did you think he was lying? With Faith comes the understanding of the Truth and with that all things are possible.

So my brother seek God personally and believe me you will find him because he is in you and talks to you. It's is simply our sins (doing things against God's will due to weaknesses of our current degraded state in the flesh) that separate us from him.

One way to improve your closeness to God is through Fasting. Fasting weakens the body. Once the body (flesh) is weak the spirit is strenghtened. Pray and confess your sins to him and ask him to strengthen you and guide you. Do your prayers between the hours of 12 and 3 am he will speak to you through the gifts he already imbued you with at the point he allowed you come for this test.

The story of Job is underrated. Note that even after his fall the devil still came to heaven and even responds to God on his actions on earth. Note carefully that it was God himself that mentioned Job to the devil as he was pleased with Job's conduct on earth. Also note that every evil test thrown at Job by the devil was only possible with and to the extent of God's permission granted him.

This why it is written that:

" No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it
"

The value of life is only obtained in completing this test of life successfully. The value is only to be found in the spirit which you will become when you die. Life is a test and also a gift as it allows you the opportunity to return on to the father and see the true life he desires for is all, no poverty, Nigerian hunger, no sadness where all evil and falsehood are not found.
CelebritiesRe: OluTimehin Adegbeye: "Pretty Mike Raped Me At 16, Andre Blaze Assaulted Me" by Bishopsgate(m): 1:03pm On May 06, 2018
I wonder why guys bother to rape anyone these days? There are so many women and even girls out there that would willingly drop their panties if your game is tight.

This girl might be a victim but being raped the way she describes indicates she probably moved in dirty circles and was a bit too carefree with her lifestyle, which made being raped twice possible.

Rape is totally unacceptable but let me say something that some of the female chauvinists here might see as offensive - some cases of "rape" are simply reported due to an afterthought. Both the rapist and the raped are at times to be blamed.

Whether you agree or not, men are physically stronger than women. Why would any woman put herself in compromised situation that puts her at risk?

Why go up to a hotel room with a guy you hardly know when you know he could drug you and have sex with you without your consent? Why go binge drinking with guys in a club and leave with them in their car after getting drunk with them.

The pendulum swings both ways. People have been jailed for years based on false rape accusations while some rapists have escaped justice based on the argument of mutual consent.

apart from those that are abducted or forcefully taken to places of the purported rape, proof becomes a key elements in the dispensation of justice. The rapist would be dealt with if it can be proved that it was not mutual otherwise he might escape. Women are usually the victims so they are the ones to be more careful with their movements and associations.

What is a 16 year old girl doing in club in the first place? Even in the US you need to be an adult and some clubs go as far as requesting id if you look too young. If she is courted by a rapist and eventually raped has she not played a part in getting herself to the situation she now finds herself?

Like many a writers have written here, this is not a solution to the addiction problem neither is this ban a well thought out action by the FG.

It's simply a knee jerk reaction to the BBC expose and that tells you the type of people We have at the helm of affairs.

Do you know that many Local TV And radio stations has done exposes and documentaries on codeine abuse that the government totally ignored?

So because it's bbc that did this it's time to take such a rash action. It's the same thing we do in other spheres, if it's from the west then it is the way to go, if it's from the west then it must be adhered to. It's just us blacks being silly!!

Most Effective pain killers in the world are opiods which extremely addictive. Can you ban them because people are abusing it? Can you do surgeries without them? How many substances dem go ban?

Instead of tightening controls on the sales and distribution of the effective cough treatment they are banning it out right - it's a drug and except where it is proven that it's regulated and proper use has serious side effects it should not have been banned simply because some troubled youth are abusing it.

Can they ban beer or spirits which are not even drugs? Can they ban cigarettes?

We are so foolish as a country I can't even begin to understand it anymore walahi!!

Trump is president so is buhari who is the president of the most populous black nation in the world. Nigerians always celebrating mediocrity.
May you remain blessed my brother.

As an African and a Nigerian specifically, I find it very disappointing when I see my fellow Africans ignorantly displaying neo-colonialism. It is even more painful when the display comes from our leaders.

Why do Africans and African leaders always require western acceptance and acknowledgement before they can see themselves as OK or in the right?

For the sake of all things good, how can a visit to the US President by our president be considered an achievement? I listened to the joint press briefing. It was praise praise praise for America. I did not hear him present our case or demands. What were the historical agreements reached on trade?

On America buying less Nigerian crude he answered saying "I will not tell another country what to do" - I mean what the hell does that mean? There was no negotiation by him in any way in that briefing. I even saw a place where Trump queried PMB in a manner that sounded like him issuing instruction on the issues he should speak on.

He looked overwhelmed once again, probably even awed. As much as some people hat OBJ - he has a commanding persona anywhere at international gatherings. He holds his own and says his position. He is an African who doesn't cower at the sight of foreigners.

Trump got more accolades from Buhari than even the Americans give him and Buhari will get even less from Nigerians for this one sided show of weakness

What a shame.

He said Nigerian herdsmen don't carry AK 47. These killers with AK47 are mercenaries, most likely from post ghafaffi's Libya and the Sahel who have infiltrated the herdsmen and carrying out killing under the guise of Fulani herdsmen.

How is this so difficult to understand.

Is it reading that is the problem or comprehension?
My brother please I would beg you to apply rationality time to this debate. These killings being done by whoever has a cause. What is that cause? What grouse could these foreign mercenaries have against Nigerian Farmers ?

Why are these mercenaries killing Nigerians, especially farmers and lately religious centers?

Who hired them? It is world wide knowledge that mercenaries are paid and they work for the highest bidder in most cases. The only other thing that can motivate a mercenary apart from money is religion, in which case the name changes from mercenary to terrorist or fanatic.

Who is paying them and what do the so called mercenaries stand to gain since they aren't Nigerians?

Answer these questions and you will see that the Fulani herdsmen of Nigeria fit every single one.

They have a grouse with farmers and indigenous peoples.
They are rich as the owners of the cows are usually highly placed people since a Fulani is not considered truly wealthy by his people without cows. They can afford to pay these killers.

They stand to gain from the murder and cleansing of the people and their lands they desire to use for their livestock.

It's either you people cannot read, or you read but lack understanding. Or better still you failed to read because you are a lazy youth and formed your opinion based on the deliberate, misleading title.

The man is overwhelmed as expressed in the statement that' these ones carry AK47 '. He too finds it shocking that herdsmen are caught with AK47, he didn't denied it, he only asserted that the kind of herdsmen he knows carry sticks and machetes.

Read, read and I say learn to read and cease from being a lazy youth.

I schooled in the North.

What the president said was true a couple of years back but things have changed and he should update his idea of who a herdsman is TODAY!

In today's Nigeria, weapons are everywhere. Did you watch the offspring robbery video, or that of the previous one in Lekki?

Boko Haram did not have weapons a couple of years back when they started but today their own videos show heavy weapons, artillery guns, and even armored personnel carriers and tanks.

Please tell me why it is so easy to believe that militants
in the creeks have assorted weapons and the the Fulani herdsmen don't? Are the weapons sold in the black-market only sold to the creeks?

That he said he is shocked that the herdsmen of today (that are not Nigerians) carry weapons is not surprising and is to me even disappointing . This is the same president that gave a direct order to the head of a security agency and said he "was not aware" that the order was not carried out. That same man is still at the helm of affairs of that agency.

I don't hate buhari and I don't believe he is a bad man cause I voted for him in 2015 but I believe he is overwhelmed and not capable of becoming up to speed with what is wrong and what needs to be done to correct it.

The country is in dire straights and we need a vibrant strong and determined leader in his prime, physically, mentally and even spiritually. Agree or not, Buhari doesn't meet the first 2 and the 3rd cannot be proven

This is mind boggling!!!

Can Buhari identify "Nigerian" herdsmen from the others? How do you identify a people who don't have a fixed location and don't have any nationality identification papers? A Senegalese Fulani is the same as the one in Gambia, Chad Nigeria or Niger.

Anybody with little knowledge about West Africa will yell you that the Fulani people are scattered from Senegal to Cameroon. They are the major herdsmen in the whole ecowas block.

They don't respect borders and move freely from country to country as of they are still in the 19th century and all countries in West Africa where they have brethren belong to them.

What research did the government do to determine that they are foreigners? I am indeed disappointed in the president for these remarks. I am however not surprised. The Fulani are know to be fiercely loyal to their kith and kin. Believe me when I say he is more loyal to this age long ethnic loyalty of the Fulani than he is to the constitution of Nigeria.

I am voting for anyone but this guy!!
