Its good to write script and sell but why not try get a producer or production house and direct the film yourself or get a good director and work with him. it looks like guys here are not sure of what they have and they just want to sell it off to someone who can bare the risk of producing the film. |

I have never been on any production in nollywood before so I cant say that they decent script but bad production. all I know is that the film sucks, starting with the storyline. I agree that its a bad production I believe the whole thing started with bad script then to bad director, illetrate producer, cheap and bad actors then to bad editing and they end it with bad packaging. everything is bad. I agree with combrazor who said bad production. I have seen film with not too good storyline but good production and it comes out good. so if nollywood cant give us good stories at least they should improve on the level of production. |
Akin Omotoso, a nigerian/south african film maker is the the pre-production stages of "IN THE SHADOW OF A SAINT". he is in pre-production stages and its set to star Njimon Hounsou (the guy in Blood Diamond) as Ken Saro Wiwa. I spoke to the director and he said it might still take two years before production. I think nigerian film makers that make a feature in 1-2 months should learn from that. for more information check out www.tompictures.co.za |
I think it was Alfred Hitchock(i'm not sure now) that was asked "three things that makes a good script" and he said "the script, the script, the script". Until we start getting good script we cannot leave this level we are in. script isnt the only thing but film start from the script. once we get good script then we can move to the next thing like good directing. but intill then lets atop the argument about unprofessionalism of actors(dont get me wrong, i'm not saying we have great actors). |
South Africa is a good option to study abroad. why 1. You don't need to do any international exams like toefl, sat etc 2. there fees are cheap (average fees is N400k) compared to Uk (8k pounds) and US ($20k). some of our private univarsities pay almost that if not more. i don't know the current price now. 3. there is opportunity to get scholarship if you are doing master in engineering or science. most of my friends doing masters are studying here free of charge. 4. lots of job opportunities after school 5. their visa process is easy and they don't deny without reason like UK and USA NOTE: study abroad cost money. don't contact me to pay your application fees and school fees for you. contact me by email if you are serious. n. my email is bishoptboy@gmail.com |
If you are an engineer. South africa is a good option for you. if you want more info contact me on bishoptboy@gmail.com. there are lots of opportunity here for engineers especially civil, electrical and mechanical. If you studied sciences to is goos. there is opportunity for you here. please don't mail me if you are not serious about it. |
In South Africa, TV station pay you to produce a TV show if they buy it. So guys if you have a cool idea for a TV show, be it game show, magazine, sitcom etc. South African TV might be it. I'm owrking on my TV show but not yet concluded. If you have a cool Idea, I can be your link here. drop me an email at tobainexcess@gmail.com. If you know about what goes into putting your TV show on TV station like silverbird and other cool TV stations in Lagos please let me know. Thanks |
I'm so happy to see how you guys talk intelligently on topics like this. Let us not just forget the initial call i made about making impact in the nigerian film industry. No matter where we are we will always be refered to as nigerian filmmaker. I see myself as a nigerian film maker although i'm not in nigeria. lets joing hands and make a change. let find a way of coming together and put a few films out there that will call the attention of the world. Tsotsi film from south africa did it. Writers, cinematographers, editors, directors lets tell the world THAT QUALITY CAN COME FROM NIGERIA NOT ONLY QUANTITY. |
hey combs, you sounded like someone who is well informed about fdilm generally. I will like to know more about you. let me also introduce myself as an aspiring cinematographer and TV producer |
Why do you think we cant. We might not be able to but we will lay the standards and open peoples eyes to what can come out of nigeria. soon we will sweep them off. I know one thing and that is that we wont join them even if we cant beat them. but all the same we will do our best to change things by setting a good standard. The money aspect can be a way (thanks for the suggestion combs). I just know that I will not join the train. I left Nigeria to study film because I dont want to join the train. I WILL RATHER MAKE A GOOD FILM THAN JUST MONEY |
I dont agree with guys saying you cannot do anything to change nollywood. I will say that your main purpose and aim is not to change nollywood. but this is it. IF WE SET THE PACE THEY WILL FOLLOW. it might be hard but they will follow. If you study film history you will know that alomost every decade a new wave starts tak about french new wave, film nior, new wave of the 70ties, blockbuster ets. some people started it. talk of steven spieldberg, he is one of the blockbuster pioneers in the US. The problem with nigeria is this individuality problem, stuffs like "i dont care whats happening in my society, as long as i'm fine they can go to hell". we cannot see whats wrong and not try to make amends. I believe soon we will make a differience. |
I want to launch a new product. I want a good web designer. please send me a link of any web you have done and I will check it out and make my choice. I HOPE TO COME TO NIGERIA IN 2008 AND I WILL CONTACT YOU ALL. SORRY FOR BEING QUIET FOR A LITTLE WHILE. I WILL ALSO CONTACT SOME OF MY FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT IN NIGEIRA AND ARE INTERESTED IN A NEW WAVE OF FILM. CHEERS GUYS ALSO I'M ON FACEBOOK IF YOU ARE ON FACEBOOK YOU CAN SEARCH FOR Toba Oduwaiye AND YOU CAN ADD ME AND FROM FACEBOOK WE CAN FORM A NEW GROUP. IF YOU ARE ALSO INTERESTED IN STUDYING FILM MAKING IN SOUTH AFRICA LET ME KNOW I CAN HELP APPLY. BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT I WONT PAY ANY FEES OOO. I'M A STUDENT HERE TOO. |
I have been trying to get a group with people behind the scene in the film industry and I think I have found the right place here in Graphics. I went to TV section and its all about gossips about nollywood stars. We need a new wave of film in nigeria. I left Nigeria to study film in sSouth Africa because Nollywood sucks to me and I dont want to join them in making the type of film they make but I know there is talent in nigeria. We that support a new wave of film should come together and sweep those trash that nollywood is maki9ng away and make films that will be recognised in film festivals around the world and not in nigeria alone. Nollywood release the 3rd highest films in the world but how many of theose make it to Oscars or Cannes. they dont even make it to sithengi in south africa. they only make it to south african stree corners anf sold for R15. South Africa make few films but those few still get nominations around the world and even won oscars(Tsotsi). IF YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO SEE QUALITY IN NIGERIAN FILMS AND NOT QUANTITY LETS JOIN HAND, EXCHANGE CONTACTS AND MAKE FILM THAT WOULD CATCH THE EYES OF THE WORLD. |
Make sure your imported footages are good and clear. export as an AVI file (also called movie file) in short export as movie dont export as MPEG 1 (VCD) then burn as a DVD dont burn VCD. VCD quality is not good. you can use NERO to burn DVD. if you need more info contact me bishopdetok@yahoo.com |

Hey Nwazo good job, nice idea and concept. I'm really impressed. I will like to cooment on a few things 1. SOUND: the dialogue was clear and that means the sound guy this a good job but the buzz tract (background noise) didnt really work. there were moment when their was a camera change of angle and the buzz track either increased or reduced. watch out for that next time. I dont know if it was intentional but through out the party sequence i never heard any buzz track of party music (EVEN WHEN HE WENT INTO THE PARTY HALL). Please check your sound remember SOUND MAKE AND KILL FILM 2. SPECTACLES a) Your lighting in the party sequence- it was very dark and dull. was it motivated. were you trying to convey a dull mood. i feel the lighting could be better.(b) The shot where she stood up to tell him the message- the ACTION AXIS was crossed. but was still cool. (c) there were some camera shakes and minute tilting 3. OTHERS: I'm not so much into things like dialogue and screenplay. But I thing the dialogue could be better. In the shot where he was telling her about his dead girlfriend. it sounded like a monologue and not a dialogue ABOVE ALL good job. Thank God there are film makers like you that are not so interested in nollywood overdone topics like "Barren woman leave my son alone, I want to carry my grandchild" I dont like talking bad about other poeples job but I just have to comment. GREAT EFFORT AND GOOD JOB. HOPE TO SEE BETTER STUFFS FROM YOU |
Its really sad to read this about the movie. I heard about a Nigerian movie showing in Montecasino Nu Metro (South Africa) and i and a couple of friend were really excited to go and see it. That night its was to be cancelled because they thought nobody will watch it. we had to get the authority to show it. later i went on the internet to google it and i was suprised because all i got was another Amazing grace. anyway i'm encouraged to see a nigerian film in a cinema outside nigeria. Jeta Amata got my respect. All those guys in Nollywood that release 366 movies in a year should take a cue from Jeta |
We need real filmmakers in Nigeria. Whose focus isnt just making money. Film making is not just about making money. Nigerian film makers should go and study film history and I know they will find out that up until the BLOCKBUSTERS ERA in in the 80's, the focus of film makers isnt money. we need to first think about making standard movie first before making money. Nollywood is not recognized for its good movies but for its number of movie released. we are not close to winning an oscar yet. The world has gone beyond making part 1,2,3 movies. Nollywood should thing about putting the funding for 10 movies into one. WHERE BOLLYWOOD AND HOLLYWOOD WAS 30 YEARS AGO WE ARE NOT THERE YET. OUR ACTION SEQUENCE STILL LOOKS VERY FAKE. The Industry needs to be well structured. cheers |
I'm new to the forum. I tried to watch it on my friend's PC but there was no speaker. I will watch it later and give you my review. cheers |
