i said it before sometime you pick up a script and think you just landed the best film of all time and it just goes wrong. even spielberg did not have 100% success. sometimes when a film doesnt go right you cant blame the lead actor alone. you look at the producer, director, cinmatographer. is it not the same guy in face off and con air? is it not the same lady in monster's ball and cat woman. if they are badly directed the film will come out badly. you can say yeah he should know the film wasnt going to be great. but i say to you sometimes you wont know. im my little experience i have learnt that things go wrong. i shot two short films last yeah and one we concluded it was going to be very bad becos it didnt look great but the editor saved the movie. it ended up being nominated for awards and in a film festival. the other that started off as a good film ended up being crap cos things went wrong. tomorrow a good director can cast cage and he is getting all the nomination.

If an actor or director has proven himself to be good before and i dont give up on them cos i know things could go wrong but if they have always gotten it wrong then i know they are poor in their field.

hey JustKunmi you talked about continuity. i never saw continuity errors their. where was that? maybe i never noticed cos i was distracted the whole time in the cinema.

Mos Def is one of the best. for me Be Kind rewind is very funny. my class went to review before it was released and for film student the stunts they puled with the "sweded films" was funny to us. i watched one Ja rule and he was ok(not great though). Andre is just trying.

I saw Knowing and I didnt finish it. for me the story started off great but at some point the whole angel thing wasnt jelling. For me Nic Cage wasnt bad its the story that was progressing poorly and turning into a kiddies movie especially when that ball thing fell from heaven. that was when i left the cinema.

For me I cant really blame Cage cos sometimes you pick up a script and think its gonna end up great on screen but things go wrong and when you watch it you get pissed off. I made a short film last year and when I came up with the idea i though it was going to be the best movie in my school but alot went wrong and it turned into a film i myself dont want to see.

Generally for me analysing acting isnt my thing . i dont know bad acting until its obvious its bad. i spend my time watching the cinematography and editing style.

The only thing that I remember about Transformer 1 is the destuction and visual efx but Transformer 2 gave me more than visual efx. T2 is funnier and and one thaing they succeded in doing is making the robots human. think of optimus prime's death and the two funny robots. I got more back story on the robots in T2 than T1. so for me the story of T2 was clearer than T1

The action was good but the storyline was lame. And Megan fox, it was all about the lip gloss and pouting. She was in the freaking desert and everyone else was smeared with dirt, but alas her face was still flawless and the lipgloss fresh lol

Gosh I thought I was the only one that saw that. Its so funny that the only thing i can remember about her is the lip gloss.
About state of play- I love it. for me its well directed and shot. I couldnt avoid the cinematography. if you've seen it go watch it again and pay attention to the cinematography and you will see that it was good. one of the measure of a good movie is the film that takes you to where you dont wanna be. state of play sucks you in and the suspense and tension worked very much on me compared to Obsessed that was cheezy. what i saw in Obsessed isnt new to me. I have seen that in alot of films.

hey guys, I'm back. its been a long time. I watched Transformers and I love it. Transformer 2 is one of the movies that the sequel is better than the initial movie. I believe Transformer 2 has a better storyline than one cos T 1 is just action and explosion but T 2 gave me more than cool visual efx.
About Obsessed i watched it and i was never moved even though I watched it with a female friend and she loved it. whats wrong iice i thought its a girl movie cos ladies like it. for me its not my kind of film. I guess i was forced to go see it because my female friend bought the ticket.

I'm going to see knowing and you guys are already making me feel its a bad film and its not worth it but anyway i wil still check it out.

Cameras are not the only problem but bad storyline, bad lines (script), bad acting and many more. we make good music video because we take time to edit it nicely becuse we know channel O will not take rubbish and give it good colour but when it comes to films everything is rushed because we know people will buy and watch rubish.

I'm tired of people saying Nollywood will improve. what i see isnt improvement but regression. I always say i prefer to see those drama of early 90's to what they make now. i mean films like Violated compared to what they make now. they used to have ok stories but now too much trash. The sad part is that they have so much lowered the taste of our people that they see those film as being good.

they dont give a damn and they never cared to do their research well. when i saw tears of the sun i was so pissed off. a friend of mine from Rwanda hates Hotel Rwanda cos they never painted the thru picture of what happened. she said those people that were saved never got saved they all were killed actually in real life.

they never shot the film in naija. they shot it in Australia Canada and US. they know most American and their audience in their 1st world countries know very little about Lagos Nigeria.

I wont release a film that i believe is bad. I made a film last year with all white cast and wasnt happy with it so i canned it and never let it go on TV.

I have already given up on the argument. I did this with Larayat and many other guys and i said i have had enough and no more argument over the film but once someone attacks me i reply and let them know why i stand by my argument.

I said it once and I will say it again. I'm happy for the girl cos she is making her money. she is not the only one making bad films and making money and that tells you i'm not jealous of people cos they are making money. I'm making my little money on my side too and praying to make money like funke and make even more.

the fact still remains if a film is bad it is bad no matter how much is made from it. i dont watch naija films cos i feel most of them are trash so when i was told jenifa is very good i travelled to a surburb of Pretoria to get it and was so pissed off when i watched it cos its got no good plot, bad acting from most of the actors (funke tried, but all her girls failed woefully). bad technicals. so if i'm to rate it i will rate it 20% no matter what other people say about it. note i'm not the only one that thinks the film is rubbish just like you are not the only one that think its the best thing that ever happened to nollywood

I'm not trying to be pessimistic but why should i get my head worried about a guy that is not proud to be Nigerian. i will vote if one of them comes out to say he is Nigerian and proud to be. we claim people that are not even proud to be associated with our beloved country. Nobody on this thread has been able to prove that they have Nigerians in their group. Even if they are Nigerian by birth I want to hear then claim to be Nigerian.

I went to see them on youtube when one of my friend from Rwanda said her friends brother is one of the flawless guys. Its possible they are africans.

My favourite part was the scene in france. They went french style in that scene. it just reminds me of Amelie. I like David Finchers movies. I felt the movie should have ended a little earlier but anyway it was a good movie, no doubt. I give it 70%

It got released today in South Africa. I saw it and find it more interesting than the other x-men. the film was never shot in naija. I like how they fused the origins to X2 story. you can connect origins to X2 which makes it brilliant.

this is stupid. Its not bad to have dbanj reality show but what the girls will get is stupid. I expected them to be tested in area of music or other art and the winner gets maybe a contract with a record label. but kokolete girl or what do they call it sounds foolish. is this modeled after the bachelor (i hate that show-the bachelor with a passion) well its a pity that our women are fighting for equality and some of them are selling themselves CHEAP.

about dbanj. we all know its not that he is very good but they know how to market him. i for one has always believe that dbanj isn't a good musician but well managed and that where he is strong. he's got good managers who have turned him into a brand. big ups to him and his managers for that.

I think this tread is cool. firstly no fighting and insulting each other because of variance of views.

I was a little indifferent over slumdog it was nice but not just my kind of film. The acting from the boys was nice. cameraworks was good and I believe it deserved the cinematography award.

The plot was nice but exceptional. I dont know why the movie won the best award but as for me i believe it shouldnt have won even though it was a nice movie.

what we should ask ourselves is that what did they do right that made the movie win best film. is it that it came at the right time (world's economic meltdown). It was a great escape for many.

I personally feel maybe its never really have a strong opposition (by the way i have not seen most of the nominated films cos they never showed in the cinema near me).

If its classy then i understand why Salsa will be better. but think of how to make it cool and have people want to see it again and again. I believe a little comedy makes people want to see an AD over and over again. It could be an old man doing salsa.

I agree with guys saying your school doesnt determine what you become in life but at the same time it helps you go along way and exposes you more. it also takes away much stress from you. I talked about the stress i faced in Unilorin when i studied there. I see students staying awake every night and its sad to remember that when i got abroad and see how stress less school should be. If the university that you go to doesnt matter then it doesnt also matter to go to school at all.
why should i go and spend so much on private universities in nigeria when i can spend that same amount to get a better education outside the country (thats my personal opinion).

I learnt in naija it takes some people 7 years to get PHD when you can spend less time to get that abroad. I remember how we chase bus and climb thru bus window. how we queue at bore hole for water, how we go to the bush for you know what , (bush attack) cos the toilet is scary

I dont know about other universities but the one i went to in Naija is too much stress for me to advice my enemy to go there. So if you have money to spend then try education abroad, its stress less

I think Hiphop would do more. Think of a way to blend it with something traditional. I mean dont make a general hiphop, add some nigerian elements to it. if you can get a guy/girl to blend the Benue dance with hiphop. that should be fun to watch. or say galala with hiphop.

if its alcoholic then have a silhouette kunfu master (remember drunken master ) dance. LOL. and after you can reveal it to be one niger delta old man who isnt drunk but doing something meaninful. if nigeri delta man cant do it use a stuntman for the dance.

there was a guy on so you think you can dance south africa that does this kunk fu dance. they call him taekwando. he is good. if you can get the video watch him.

the issue is always this- we dont trust ourselves. nobody wants to pay for good they have not seen and held in their hands and you too wont send goods to anybody without full payment. so how do you intend to work around this. explain it to us please.

Tell me about it. the B word has slowed down alot of stuffs I wanna do. All I do now is little stuffs that doesnt require much.
Here in South Africa the B word is a huge thing cos people here are more stingy than naija

One big problem I have with Niaralanders is fighting and insulting each other over post. We have not gotten ourselves out of that mentality that we have to raise our voices and shout the other person down in every conversation as if nairaland is a molue. I believe we are educated and we have to behave like one.

Another sad thing is that we carry this bahaviour outside the country and shout everywhere. I dont know about other places but ask any South African what he knows about nigerian he will tell you we always shout and raise our voices easily.

Instead of telling the other person to shut up just because you dont agree with his point why not state your own reason and dialogue. In this same thread myself and sojiogun dont agree on what to invest in first but we never fought about it cos this is not a Molue. we both agreed that we have different priority and thats it. Dont try to force your believe on other people. If they dont agree with you then leave its not a reason to fight and insult each other because you cant see your faces. Dont hide behind your PC to insult people
