A trailer gutted by fire has destroyed countless numbers of shops,buses, micra car, properties and some other trailers at oremejii, Lagos-Ibadan expressway this morning. Officials of fire service, police, Nscdc, soldiers and men of the press are currently present at the scene. The accident has caused a lot of traffic gridlock along the road.

The polytechcnic of Ibadan has called for application for Daily Part Programme (Dpp) HND Form. Candidate should note note that DPP-HND students are exempted from National Youth Service Corps (Nysc).

1. Candidates seeking for admission into any of the programmes must possess National Diploma and satisfy the general 5 credits requirement in WASCE, GCE, SSCE or NECO and NABTEB at not more than two (2) sittings. Such candidate must also have a year Industrial Training certification.

2. Candidates who have undergone the Full-Time HND screening exercise for the Full-Time HND programme of the Institution but did not meet up with the cut-off point are eligible to apply.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application Forms are obtainable on line at www.dpp.polyibadan.edu.ng or www.polyibadan.edu.ng.

1. Candidates who have registered for the Full-Time HND programme of The Polytechnic, Ibadan before will pay a fee of N5,000:00 only, using any verve or Interswitch Bank Payment Card (ATM)

2. Fresh candidates will pay N12,500:00 only using any verve or Interswitch Bank Payment Card (ATM).

Application closes on 15th December, 2016.

N.B

Applicants are to know that the programme will be run on Daily Part-Time basis and would on completion of the programme, the students will be exempted from the Youth Service programme. They will however be issued Exemption Certificate. All admitted candidates will sign an undertaking to that effect.

Student needs to join one or more association so as to get recognition and get enlighten on various aspect of the society. We don't learn to read and write only we also learn to interact and hold strategic position in the society all this can be learn through various association we join.

Association varies in size and exposure, there are some associations that are unique and highly recognize in the society where learning evolves.

We join association to belong to a group in school, we join association in other to gain power and influence, we do not want to be alone, and we also need to be involved in various activities so that we can be able to take various leadership position and mantle of power when we graduate from school. Association helps us to gain more knowledge through various programs they operate, various association are also form to cater for student needs through providing various incentives for their member.

Association member are also classified with their various position so that the management of the group can make adequate measurement in regulating the activities of the association. We have association leader who recruit and select new members by creating awareness about the association, they also provide the rules and regulation guiding the affairs of the organization.

There are numerous Association students can join in schools which includes:

1.Indigenous Association; This is an association that is formed by group of people who belong to a state, they have some background in common. They are well structured and have various programs that can help student in relating with their cultural heritage, they provide accurate information for their members that share the same characteristic in common. They also provide incentives to their member from bursary they collect from the government of their state or local government. There are various indigenous associations one can join in school such as Federation of Ibadan student union, Federation of Ekiti student union etc.

2.Sport Club; Student who has passion for various type of sport can join any sport department such as football, basketball, table tennis and more. Since student will be competing against student from other schools, the school will find it better to select well trained sport member to participate in various sport activities outline by the school.

3.Editorial crew: This is the group who are responsible for providing accurate information to their department members and to the schools at large. They also share news to the public and write various articles to enhance students learning through reading.

4.Press council: This is the news department student can join in school. Any student who has passion for finding and disseminating information to the public, who practice journalism, can join this group because they are listener and the voice of an institution. They work hand in hand with the various department editorial crew and they has there publication in form of magazines.

5.Christian or Muslim fellowship; This association is responsible for sharing their beliefs among their members, they pray and fellowship with one another. They also provide faith messages to their members who are going through hard times in schools. They also use prayer to intercede to God on behalf of their members so that they can conquer spiritual attack.

6.Readers Club: we do not only read courses we study in schools we can also read various books, novels and literature that will help us to be conversant with our academic. Readers club help their members by telling them how to read, steps to take and ways to pass examination with ease. Readers club are group of people who comes together with the aim of sharing together from experience how be a good reader so as to prepare for examination and future programs.

There are numerous associations or groups available in schools for student to join, it is also the right and responsibility of every student to accept or reject any invitation from this association. Association do no compel their members to join, members join on their free will. If a student sees that the association he or she join did not please them they can decides to leave the association since joining them is not by force. In joining one or more association student should look for association that can provide a good initiative and not an association which destroy a student image.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said on Friday night that the prescription for recession in Nigeria had been in place for more than three years.

The ‘super minister’ added that power generation in Africa’s most populous country has improved in the last one year.
Fashola, accompanied by the minister of state in the ministry, Mustapha Shehuri, and its top officials, spoke at a media briefing to commemorate his first year in office.

He noted that when workers were being retrenched and the purchasing power of an average citizen eroded, as had been the case since 2013, these were obviously signs of recession.

He, however, expressed the hope that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was on the road to making Nigerians smile once again.

Fashola said that electricity generation in Nigeria has improved considerably in the last 12 months, peaking at above 5074MW for the first time in the nation’s 63-year-old electricity history earlier this year.

He said this has created jobs for hitherto idle artisans, small and medium scale entrepreneurs and empowered other businesses.

He noted that the more than 800 containers of imported power generation and distribution components stranded at the ports for between three and eight years, have been released.

He regretted that about 3000MW of electricity was lost to vandalism, adding, however, that the Federal Government was discussing with agitators in order to put an end to the destruction.

Fashola said electricity generation would continue to appreciate as more stations come on stream and contribute to the national grid.

The minister appealed to electricity consumers to be patient with distribution companies over insufficient prepaid meters, noting that the privatization of the sector was only three years old.

He said that the meters would soon be readily available as more companies embark on their production in Nigeria.

A woman from South Carolina who made headlines when she gave birth to twin boys at Grand Strand Medical Center and named them Donald and Trump says she has no regrets for giving them those names. The proud mum said:

“We weren’t planning on naming them after Donald Trump at first, but it is clearly a divine sign that our next president shows up in our state on the day my little sunshines are born” explained Latifa Huxley, proud mother of the two.

“Donald Trump is a bright and successful man with strong moral values that represents what America is all about.” she told local reporters, visibly emotional. The family strongly believe the timing of the South Carolina GOP primary with the birth of their twins in February was no coincidence. Father of the twins Damian Huxley said:

“It is truly a blessing and a God-given sign”. “After all the division Obama has brought upon this country, it is a great privilege to have my children born on this auspicious day,” he explained with pride.

“I don’t care if my president is black or white, all I know is that Trump is a man of his word and we believe him when he says that he will make America great again,” he adds.

Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on Thursday in Okesa, Ado Ekiti distributed cheques worth N200m to the second bash of landlords whose properties are to give way for the construction of 1.2km Fajuyi/Ojumose flyover.

Governor Fayose in his address thanked the chiefs and residents for their understanding and cooperation with the assurance that his government's action is in Ekiti's best interest.

The High Chief Asa of Okesa, Ado Ekiti, Chief Kayode Ogunleye who spoke on behalf of the residents appreciated governor Fayose for living up to his promise of paying compensation to property owners before demolishing their properties also pleaded with the governor on behalf of the residents to allow them exhume the remains of their buried ones before the commencement of demolition, a request governor Fayose granted expressly.

Governor Fayose who said he's giving affected residents two weeks to exhume the remains of their buried ones as requested urged the gathering to support him in his campaign against open defecation in the state.
