Its quite a good car due to its advanced fuel saving technology. That is if the Oxygen sensor is OK and thermostat still function properly.

Here are few things to pay attention to; brake system issues, oil consumption, rattling noise at start up, frequent spark plugs fouling, misfiring issue, ... but good Suspension system not like the early spec of 2002 - 2005 model

As for your mechanic not to see the overheating temperature before getting worst, it takes a very experienced driver (car user) to know when car is having high temperature, your mechanic didn't notice coz he wasn't paying much attention to the car movement and changes, as an experienced person, once the temperature is high, the first thing you will notice is, the car will start blowing heat if you were using AC or the car movement will become sluggish and that moment you observe any of those, you're to look at the dashboard for any possible sign.


I will hold the mechanic for letting the car got that bad..

Thanks boss. But as I don’t have other options I’m still keen on using what I have for now rather than doing rentals except I can get a Corolla for hired purchase. But sir with proper maintenance I should be good to go with my 05 eod although I have plans to change the engine as it consumes oil & emmits black smoke

As a mechanic, EOD is not ideal but usable for the hustle. For a starter go for a car that won't give you high blood pressure or when it has a fault at your starting stage you won't run into debts for repairs.

I will go with Civic on this.... just a piece...

Replacing the pipe and probably replacing the oil

My gearbox (yaris 08) was leaking oil, the gear master said it was gearbox oil pump and converter. Replaced the oil pump, but couldn't get the converter at ladipo. Can the converter be repaired??
Because no sign its spoilt, pls help

A picture or video of the converter will do justice. The converter are rarely having issues it's likely the pump or seal

In a shirt version; due to Honda architecture of their internal combustion engine, a rocker arm is a valvetrain component that typically transfers the motion of a pushrod to the corresponding intake/exhaust valve.


Actuator converts the input signal (electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic) into a mechanical energy using a fixed parameters to communicate with the PCM.

So when you have this codes you have few steps to take to troubleshoot

* Check the wiring and run a test on the cables.
* Check the Actuator if it actuated.
* PCM may need code updates which is rare.

A corolla doesn't go more that 80KM\HR on a smooth road, any further push will make the car start jerking and stall.

After running a comprehensive test few electrical components were replaced and the timing "over advance situation " was fixed also and the car went back to full functions.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2013 - 2017 Engine Issue

From my personal experience with 2013 model of Santa FE Sport, it started with excessive oil consumption, which I could link up with oil vaporisation. Simple explanation was the engine design of GDI - Gasoline Direct Injection system, gasoline escapes the combustion Chambers when pumped by the High Pressure Fuel Pump through the compression rings into the oil pan below and the vaporisation process starts off.

The engine catching fire is kinda linked with the above logic due to excessive fuel mixed with oil.

The engine failure was due to the factory design and materials for the engine block build up. The engine block worked on has crack around the walls, and piston was kinda of cracked too; which, if driven beyond that could cause cracks or catastrophic damage to the engine.
