Israel’s top court on Tuesday upheld a bribery conviction against former premier Ehud Olmert, which will make him the country’s first ex-prime minister to serve jail time. The 70-year-old, who was prime minister from 2006 to 2009, was sentenced in May last year to six years in prison on two separate charges of taking bribes in the early 2000s. The Supreme Court on Tuesday reduced his sentence to 18 months in prison, and acquitted him on one of the charges, according to a decision seen by AFP. “Olmert has been acquitted of the felony of taking a bribe of 500,000 shekels ($128,500/117,000 euros),” the decision read, but “unanimously convicted of the felony of taking a bribe of 60,000 shekels”. “The sentencing will be for 18 months” beginning on February 15, said the decision reached by five justices. The trial of the former premier was linked to the construction of Jerusalem’s massive Holyland residential complex when Olmert served as the city’s mayor. The towering construction project, which dominates the city’s skyline, is seen as a major blot on the landscape and widely reviled as a symbol of high-level corruption. The 500,000 shekel bribe was linked to the Holyland affair, while the 60,000 bribe was related to election campaign funding. “A heavy weight was lifted from my chest today, when the Supreme Court exonerated me of the main charge, of Holyland,” a tired-looking Olmert told reporters outside the courtroom. “I was never offered bribes, nor did I ever take any,” he said. – ‘Nobody above the law’ – The court also issued rulings on the appeals of seven other men sentenced last year, including former Jerusalem mayor Uri Lupolianski, whose six-year sentence for bribery was converted to six months of community service due to his poor health. Isaac Herzog, head of the opposition Labour party, said the ruling “proved that nobody, not even a prime minister, is above the law.” “May this serve a lesson to public figures — never use the power given to us… for personal gains,” he said in remarks relayed by a spokesman. Former Israeli president Moshe Katzav is currently serving a seven-year prison term for rape and sexual harassment. Prior to his incarceration, Olmert will be in the Supreme Court on January 19 for his appeal against the Jerusalem District Court’s ruling on a separate affair. The court in May sentenced Olmert to eight months prison for fraud and corruption following a retrial over allegations that he had received envelopes of cash from a US businessman while trade and industry minister. Born south of the port city of Haifa, Olmert was elected to parliament in 1973 as a member of the rightwing Likud party and became mayor of Jerusalem from 1993 to 2003. He later served as a cabinet minister, holding the trade and industry portfolio as well as several others. He broke off from Likud with then-prime minister Ariel Sharon to form centre-right Kadima in 2005 and became premier in 2006 after Sharon slipped into a coma. Olmert later resigned after police recommended that he be indicted in several graft cases. ******Damn country here needs serious lessons from Israel on how to castrate corrupt leaders...

As is tradition, this is the season of prophesies and true to type, they have starting pouring in. Earlier today, one hit FP a la Primate Ayodele on what to expect for the New Year....>>>≥>> www.nairaland.com/2828312/primate-ayodele-unveils-prediction-201 .....but funnily, most of the ones made last year by the same Primate fell short in almost all ramifications as here presented... *Jonathan would continue to rule till 2019. In January 2013, he predicted that God showed him Jonathan would continue to rule till 2019. “The 2015 elections will hold but will be peaceful in some areas and not in other areas. As it is, from what I see at the moment, PDP will win, amidst serious criticism,” he said. Primate as he’s commonly called by some of his followers, foretold ahead of the 2015 election: “Kaduna is going to be very bloody. PDP may take Kaduna, but it’s going to be by narrow margin. Yobe, Gombe, Benue, Delta, Akwa Ibom, all those states will be won by PDP.” RESULT: After the election, Kaduna was calm and not bloody. APC’s candidate, Nasiru el-Rufai, won the governorship election, beating PDP’s Ramalan Yero. Also, the PDP missed clinching Yobe and Benue governorship seats as the primate had predicted, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated and he also made a phone call to congratulate President Buhari even before the final results were announced. *2015 Presidential Elections On the presidential election, the man of God had this to say about Jonathan: “This election is a lesson for him and there are still lessons for him to learn if he now gets it back. He still needs a lot of prayers. But in the midst of all the ups and downs, he may still have a very slim chance of winning the election. I don’t see any landslide victory at all between him and Buhari. At the end of the day, PDP will win the federal, but the party will crash after the election.” RESULT: After the election, PDP, however, was estimated to have lost with about 2.5 million votes at the federal level. *Jega will let Nigerians down According to the prophet he also made a prophecy about former INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega 'I predicted that (former Independent National Electoral Commission chairman, Prof Maurice) Iwu will be removed and it came to pass. Let me tell you categorically that (Prof Attahiru) Jega does not have a solution to election rigging in Nigeria. Jega will disappoint Nigerians' “Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega will be confused during the polls. There will be several gimmicks to cajole the INEC to rig the election. Prayers must be offered so that the commission will not lose some of its staff to accident or attack before and during the election. E-voting will not work. There will be ballot box snatching and stuffing during the election.” RESULT: The direct opposite happened, Prof. Attahiru Jega performed exceptionally well and conducted one of the most credible election in the history of the country. Even when attempt were made to make Jega fail, he remained totally calm while Godsday Orubebe, a former minister of Niger Delta, disrupted the announcement of the election. Jega ended his tenure as INEC chairman a couple of weeks later. *Glory of Lagos APC fading “The glory of Lagos APC is fading except the party hierarchy makes hasty restitution otherwise time is not on their side as regards the governorship election. They have committed a blunder with the choice of Akinwunmi Ambode as governorship candidate. Only prayer can change the tide. PDP will spring surprises and shock APC. If PDP works hard, the party will win Lagos governorship; however, the party’s candidate, Jimi Agbaje, needs prayers. RESULT: The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode was declared the winner of the April 11 election. Mr Ambode polled 811,994 votes, with the runner-up and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje, polling 659,788 votes. After the election results were announced, Mr Agbaje congratulated Mr Ambode in a telephone call. In a tweet on his twitter handle, Mr Agbaje said: “I wish him well and pray he will be successful in guiding this state”. *Ebola will come back The prophet asked Nigerians to pray against recurrence of Ebola in Nigeria in the year, saying there will be fresh cases of Ebola in the year while calling on those in the health sector to double their efforts. RESULT: Since the WHO's representative in Nigeria officially declared Nigeria to be Ebola free on 20 October 2014, Nigeria remained free from the epidemic. However in October 2015, there were rumours of an Ebola outbreak in Calabar, Cross River State, the Federal Ministry of Health through Linus Awute, the permanent secretary of the ministry, said there was no basis for rumours of yet another outbreak of the virus. The 15 people – one doctor, nine nurses, four health workers, and one patient who were quarantined were discharged and certified ebola free. As at today, December 27, 2015 Nigeria is still a World Health Organization-certified Ebola free country *Boko Haram will bomb South-west “I see flames from bombings in several parts of the country, including the South-West and more abduction of school pupils. Efforts should be intensified by security operatives to forestall that. Boko Haram will come up with different strategies to attack the nation. RESULT: The Islamist sect is yet to carryout any attack in South-west, Nigeria *Anti-corruption war will backfire Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele said that Nigerians should not expect President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve much in the anti-corruption war, stressing that the whole effort would actually backfire as several notable people, who are close to him would be indicted and thereby tie his hands such that he would not make progress. His words: “In probing Jonathan, Buhari will end up shooting himself in the leg. What I mean by that is that as he tries to trouble Jonathan, it will cause problems. He will only be able to hit corruption, but will not make much impact. In the process of the corruption battle, some people who are close to Buhari will be indicted. That is why I said that he would shoot himself in the leg. Buhari will make efforts to make Nigeria better, but his efforts will be frustrated by a cabal in his administration. He will step on many toes, but that would frustrate his administration the more.” RESULT: The anti-corruption body EFCC have been more active under Buhari's administration, with with many prominent Nigerians and leaders currently investigated for collecting huge sums of money from the Office of the ex-National Security Adviser , Sambo Dasuki.

Nigeria is a very religious country and at the beginning of every year, we expect men of God to come up with prophetic utterances which they expect to shape the people’s mindset for the year. However predicting the future is a very difficult task as you will find out below... 1. Apostle Johnson Suleman “With the level of bloodshed I saw, it is better Goodluck goes now to his village quietly. 2015 election is another June 12. The man who truly won will not govern or rule,” were the words of Apostle Johnson Suleiman of Auchi-based Omega Fire Ministry, implying that Jonathan was favoured to win but after that, violence may consume him. 2. Prophet Olaniyi Odutayo Prophet Olaniyi Odutayo of the World Prophetic Church, Ikeja, had in the countdown to the March 28, 2015 presidential poll affirmed that God revealed to him that President Goodluck Jonathan would defeat three strong contenders to emerge victorious. He said: “During the prayer/fasting, the Lord showed me three men trying to bury Goodluck Jonathan. Each one of them was trying to bury him one after the other, but as they pushed down his head, he rose up again. After the third man pushed down his head, he thought he had prevailed, he was already jubilating but suddenly Goodluck rose up.” 3. Prophet Joseph Oladipupo Prophet Joseph Oladipupo is the shepherd in charge of Faith and Victory Church located in Akure, the Ondo State capital and one of those whose prophecies concerning the 2015 presidential elections never were. According to him, God said Muhammadu Buhari, the major challenger of the then incumbent president, Jonathan, would not win. The prophecy was that “The upcoming election will be very tough for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but they will win the presidency.” 4. Primate Elijah Ayodele In January, 2013, founder and General Overseer of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, predicted that God showed him Jonathan would continue to rule till 2019. He said: “The 2015 elections will hold but will be peaceful in some areas and not in other areas. As it is, from what I see at the moment, PDP will win, amidst serious criticism.” 5. Alhaji Musa Ayeni Alhaji Musa Ayeni was the Presidential candidate of the African Peoples Alliance (APA) and told newsmen that he had been ordained by God to take over the mantle of leadership from President Jonathan after May 29. “I came into the race because God directed me to contest the election. God told me categorically that I will succeed President Goodluck Jonathan and I believe what God says, hence, my resolve to contest the forthcoming presidential election,” Ayeni said. 6. Prophet Paul Okikiiesu A Lagos-based prophet, Paul Okikijesu, was not quite clear with his prediction, but said correctly that Buhari might be voted for. According to him: “If Buhari can surrender his heart to me, he will win the election. Nevertheless despite people’s mandate, they will neither release power to him nor swear him in as the president of the nation. His situation will be similar to Abiola that had people’s mandate, but was not given the chance to rule the country.” 7. Guru Maharaji Sat Guru Maharaji, the spiritual leader of One Love Family, stated categorically that, “There is no vacancy for Buhari at Aso Rock. President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the verifiable divine choice of the forthcoming presidential election.” 8. Prophet Micheal Olubode Prophet Micheal Olubode of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) was also sure of Goodluck Jonathan’s victory, declaring emphatically: “I want to let the people of Nigeria know that The Lord will return His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to his presidential seat.” 9. Apostle B. B Frederick Even Apostle B.B Frederick, a Ghanaian, declared based on ‘inspiration of the Almighty’ that “President Jonathan is the set man for Nigeria and his next term on the seat will bring liberation to Nigeria.” 10. Prophet Godfrey Gbujie Prophet Godfrey Gbujie, who had predicted the deaths of former military ruler, Gen Sani Abacha and former president, Shehu Yar’Adua, told newsmen in Owerri that neither Goodluck Ebele Jonathan nor Gen Muhammadu Buhari would win in 2015. His prediction was that, “Buhari has a mission divinely imposed on him, but he shall not rule this country again; even if he wins, God has not determined him to find His favour. Jonathan is the last elected president of this country.” 11. Pastor Dapo Adeniyi Pastor Dapo Adeniyi stated that while Buhari may have good agendas to eradicate corruption in Nigeria, it was unfortunate that he would not win the election. He said: “Though he will give Ebele Jonathan tough time, he will accuse the PDP of rigging the election, go to court but justice will not prevail. What a pity! I see him fainting and uncooperative to ensure the peace of Nigeria after his defeat.” 12. Dr Okhue Iboi The national coordinator and spokesman of Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WITZAN), Dr Okhue Iboi also had his prediction. He said: “I don’t see General Mohammadu Buhari ruling this country. We don’t have a political party but if anyone seeks our help, we shall render it. There was a time witches in Benue State invited other witches across the country to offer prayers for the Senate President, David Mark, against impeachment. We flew to Otukpo and later to a village called Owetor. That was where we offered the prayers.” 13. Reverend Saviour Awusi Reverend Saviour Awusi, the founder and General Overseer of God’s Divine Favour Evangelical Church, Okota, Lagos also made prophecies at the beginning of the year. “Thus says the Lord: ‘By my mercy, President Jonathan would surely win this year’s presidential election. And all those who are against him shall be put to shame,” he said. 14. Babatunde Elijah Ayodele The founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, came up with some prophecies too. Aehad of the election, he said: “Kaduna is going to be very bloody. PDP may take Kaduna, but it’s going to be by narrow margin. Yobe, Gombe, Benue, Delta, Akwa Ibom, all those states will be won by PDP.” On the presidential election, the man of God said: “This election is a lesson for him and there are still lessons for him to learn if he now gets it back. He still needs a lot of prayers. But in the midst of all the ups and downs, he may still have a very slim chance of winning the election. I don’t see any landslide victory at all between him and Buhari. At the end of the day, PDP will win the federal, but the party will crash after the election.” 15. Archbishop John Obiokeke Archbishop John Obiokeke of God Pentecostal Mission Churches is reputed to have made some predictions which came to pass. However, his predictions on the 2015 presidential election seem to have missed the mark. “God is saying that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. For reasons best known to him, Jonathan, even though will rig, is still going to be the president,” he predicted. 16. Pastor Success Ibeakanma Pastor Success Ibeakanma, the senior pastor of Royal Choice Ministries, Lagos, made a prophecy early this year pointing to the 2015 election. He said: “In the presidential election of 2015, APC will try but PDP will win.” 17. Primate Theophilus O. Olabayo Theophilus Olabayo, the founder of Evangelical Church of Yahweh, Lagos, somehow got it wrong on who had the divine seal to win the presidential election, and also missed the target on who was to become Lagos state governor. “God has revealed to me that if at all there is going to be a presidential election, it will be inconclusive just like the June 12, 1993, election that we had during the time of late Chief M.K.O Abiola,” the Primate stated. “Jimi Agbaje will have more support of the people, and this is what will cause uproar in some circles if at all there is going to be an election. Jimi Agbaje will have the upper-hand because the candidate that should have won the election for APC was not given the chance to be presented as the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos. APC should have presented Ganiyu Solomon, he was God’s anointed candidate,” he stated about the Lagos state governorship polls. 18. Pastor Emeka Agwu Pastor Emeka Agwu, the General Overseer, Voice of Evangelism International, Houston, Texas, USA in a prayer session organised for Dr Jonathan’s victory ahead of the election, stated: “They want Jonathan resigned or changed, but God has given Jonathan the 2015 election key of victory.” 19. Brother Joshua Iginla Prophet Joshua Iginla is the founder of Champions Royal Assembly, a new-generation church based in Abuja. He also made predictions about the presidential election. He said: “I am not a politician nor do I belong to any political party. I am just speaking God’s mind. The person sitting on the seat might not be perfect but he will retain the seat. It’s not guesswork… President Jonathan will win, but he has to pray about his health and so many political blows.” 20. Primate Elijah Ayodele 'I predicted that (former Independent National Electoral Commission chairman, Prof Maurice) Iwu will be removed and it came to pass. There will be ballot box snatching and stuffing during the election.” http://www.nigerianeye.com/2015/12/20-prophetic-utterances-for-2015-that.html |
Okay, we know the most common one: most women lie about the “O” word. But there are other things besides that the modern woman lies about. Very often! THEIR first gig For most adult women, the first sexual experience is unforgettable and probably the best ever. Even if they have not kept in touch with their first man, they remember him with fondness if he did not leave them pregnant and stranded with a baby. But will they ever tell their man this? Never. Studies show the average woman lies about the age at which she was disvirgined, adding anything between 2 and 10 years to the age. For instance, if a woman got disvirgined at 14, she is likely to put the figure at 20 to her current man. Men, on the other hand, openly boast about their earlier sexual conquests. That they check out other men A man might be so close to the girl in his life that he would point out other women’s body parts that he finds attractive and everybody would have a good laugh. On the other hand, a woman would never do that. If she thinks the guy next door has a cute ass, she never, ever mentions it to the man in her life. Not only would she not mention it, she would never ever even make the blunder of oogling the attractive derriere when their man is around. Studies show women make lewd jokes about other men when they are with girlfriends just as much as men do, and they even fantasie but are great about hiding it. That she hates cooking A few years down the line, many relationships run into crisis on this account- many many women just do not like to cook. In our part of the world, girls are raised not only to learn how to cook but to happily cook for other people for the rest of their lives, three times a day. If they cannot live up to that ‘simple’ responsibility, they are complete failures, especially in relationships. Women are therefore happy to pretend to be kitchen genies at the beginning of relationships and would never admit to not just absolutely loving cooking. Rather, they prefer to give their man the impression that they live just to feed him as many times as possible in a day. Unfortunately, that impression is bound to waste when she insists of going out for dinner every so often when the relationship is established. She feels insulted when he gives her money Of course nothing makes your man feel grander than knowing he has met his woman’s need and probably even exceeded her expectations, especially if he had to bend over backwards to do it. Studies show the average woman is actually disappointed almost every time their man gives them a gift, especially when it is money. Truth is, today’s working women have developed very sophisticated tastes that their men can barely keep up with, and they are ready to work very hard when it’s necessary to do so. But would a woman ever complain her man has not even scratched the surface when he gives her cash? Never. She does not trust him For all her freedoms and liberation, a woman is far less likely than a man to voice her insecurities in a relationship that the other way round. She has watched her mother look the other way more often than not. She has heard her aunt tell her uncountable times of how it’s a man’s world. She has been called names just for showing a flash of jealousy and she has been told by the census that there are more women than men. Her girlfriends are telling her to be wise and hold on to her straying man and so while he snoops and snoops and finds nothing, she makes minimal efforts and finds everything but does she ever mention it? Never. The reason that hot new househelp gets a shaven head and the girlfriend is told jokingly to do her top buttons up is not because she does not trust her girlfriend or the maid but because she certainly does not trust her man. Her man might ask the question a dozen times- “honey, do you trust me?” and her answer would be a big fat lying “Yes” |

People called him cluelessly incompetent, but a rebuttal to that effect tags him as just "inexperienced". Either way, even though he has some credit to himself especially the particular one exhibited in the twilight of his reign, nothing and repeat nothing will diminish the poignant & audacious fact that GEJ was never cut out to lead a complex entity like Nigeria. He was completely out of his depths on this one. We should call a spade a spade! |
Thers nothing graphic about these photos, as a matter of fact they very good to the sights, d type Nigerians ought to wake up to every mornings. The mods should take an exception to tagging these types with the term GRAPHIC in subsequent posts. Pls note. |
Very right there. People, myself included r so disillusioned about what he's really up to right now, can it be said he's getting compromised? Little faith in d man is slowly ebbing away. OLADD: |
