Dereformer:sad as it is, if there is a rerun, Ihedioha will not win. Okorocha, Hope, Nwosu and Ararume are in alignment now and the wards affected are deep in orlu zone where Nwosu and okorocha are Kings..... They had rather see Hope sit in Douglas house than Ihedioha. 3 Likes |

Daverytimes:let's see how that turns out. I don't really see him winning SC primarily tonight but the super PAC should be a defining factor for him, if he pulls that off, then I will really have to start taking him serious as a real contender against Trump. |

tsephanyah:ya Sanders has a cult like fellowship among millennials, and the number of registered voters among this age bracket has grown significantly since 2016. But you know most Democrats see him as a socialist, this will be a strong weapon for Trump, should Sanders win the primary and that is one thing they are all don't want, even Warren who is a progressive like sander, disagree with his socialist status. Now the question is, will a huge turnout among the millennials, black and Hispanic voters, moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans, independents help flip the swing States in his favor? 1 Like 1 Share |
Foreign Affairs / Can Bernie Sanders Really Win Against Trump by Blackfriday: 3:03pm On Feb 29, 2020 |
Saw this post from NYT and it really got me thinking of the possibility of a Bernie Sanders victory come Nov 3, should he win the DNC primary. Have always had the opinion that any democratic candidate will always beat Donald Trump in the popular vote but he (Trump) have a strong claim with the college votes, especially in the mid Western States of Michigan and Wisconsin, Wich are battle ground states. Excerpt Whatever you think about Bernie Sanders as a potential president, it is wrong to dismiss his chances of winning the office. Not only does most of the available empirical evidence show Mr. Sanders defeating President Trump in the national popular vote and in the critical Midwestern states that tipped the Electoral College in 2016, but his specific electoral strengths align with changes in the composition of the country’s population in ways that could actually make him a formidable foe for the president. Almost all of the current polling data shows Mr. Sanders winning the national popular vote. In the most recent national polls testing Democratic candidates against Mr. Trump, Mr. Sanders beat him in every single one, with margins varying from 2 percent to 6 percent. This has been the case for nearly a year now, with Mr. Sanders outpolling the president in 67 of 72 head-to-head polls since March. As 2016 proved when Hillary Clinton defeated Mr. Trump in the popular vote by nearly three million votes, however, the Electoral College is what matters most. There, Mr. Sanders also does well, outperforming Mr. Trump in polls of the pivotal battleground states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. In the one poll showing significant Trump strength in Wisconsin (Quinnipiac), Mr. Sanders still fares the best of the Democratic contenders. In addition to the polling data about how voters might act in the future, there is now the much more valuable information of actual voter behavior in the first three nominating contests, in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada. It is not just the fact that Mr. Sanders won the popular vote in all three states, it is how he won that portends hidden and underappreciated general election strength. Continue reading the main story Exit polls and precinct analyses show that Mr. Sanders runs strongest with some of the most overlooked and undervalued sectors of the population — young people and Latinos in particular. In all three early states, he received twice as much support from voters under 30 than his closest competitor. In Nevada, he received about 70 percent of the vote in the most heavily Latino precincts. These particular strengths matter because the composition of the electorate in 2020 will be appreciably different than it was in 2016. Pew Research projects that this will be the most racially diverse electorate ever, with people of color making up fully one-third of all eligible voters. The share of eligible voters from Generation Z (18-23 year olds) will be more than twice as large in 2020 as it was in 2016 (10 percent versus 4 percent). Notably, the expanding sectors of the population are much more progressive and pro-Democratic than their aging and white counterparts. Mrs. Clinton defeated Mr. Trump by nearly 20 points among voters under 30, and the anti-Republican tilt of that demographic was even more pronounced in 2018, when 67 percent of them voted Democratic, 35 points more than the number who voted Republican. As for Latinos, nearly two-thirds of that population consistently votes Democratic. ImageBernie Sanders supporters in Iowa earlier this month. Bernie Sanders supporters in Iowa earlier this month.Credit...Damon Winter/The New York Times The implications of these developments are most significant in the specific states where the election will be most fiercely fought. In Michigan and Wisconsin, which were decided in 2016 by roughly 11,000 and 22,700 votes respectively, close to a million young people have since turned 18. Beyond the Midwestern trio of states, the demographic revolution has even more transformative potential. Mr. Trump won Arizona, for example, by 91,000 votes, and 160,000 Latinos have turned 18 in that state since then. Continue reading the main story To fully harness the energy from the demographic revolution, Mr. Sanders will need to strengthen his support among African-American voters who were more resistant to his candidacy when he faced Mrs. Clinton. His strong support among younger African-Americans could help, but he would be best served by choosing as his running mate an African-American with strong electoral appeal, such as Stacey Abrams, the former minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives who received more African-American votes in a statewide election than anyone not named Barack Obama. |

chukel:Please what are you saying, did you attend any of the hearing starting with the tribunal down to the SC or at least read the transcript of the judgements. Who tendered the EC8a, Inec, Ihedioha or uzodinma? To say the EC8a was only tendered at the SC means you don't even know the basis of your argument cos that has been on the ground which uzodinma argued his case starting from the tribunal. Please read to have your facts before posing an argument. 1 Like |

Dansuqi:in your own words, you admitted Hope results were handwritten, reason inec refused to endorse it. Please I employ you to search for the transcript of the tribunal and appeal court judgement and read...the evidence are looking one in the face. My guess they wrote this results why election was on going, reason the numbers exceed the number of accredited voters when you add the 300+ votes given to him, is that not mighty enough?. How about the SC ruling that Nwaosu is the authentic candidate of the APC...is this not mighty enough that the SC erred in its judgement?. |
Politics / Re: Can The Supreme Court Re-litigate? by Blackfriday: 7:36am On Feb 19, 2020 |
Dansuqi:well that is why i said we should wait till March.... The evidence before the SC is too compelling, it's just too obvious, so until the SC uphold or retract their judgement, we can then conclude Hope is smart. It's a 50/50 chance for both candidate. |

dlondonbadboy:Permutations you say! This is the actual play of the imo gubernatorial election. I had a reason for asking you if you are from imo state, cos I try as much as I can to not wade into discussion as this, cos I don't understand the imo people which voted Hope like you said. Let me break it down for once again since you can't do it. All of owerri zone (ow. West, ow. North, ow. Municipal, ezinitte, ahiazu, aboh, ikeduru and ngor okpala) all voted for Ihedioha and won by PDP with a very clear margin, do you dispute this? If your answer is no, then you should know the reason for that is not far, if you truly are from imo state. Ararume won four lga's in okigwe, PDP 2, AA 1, you see I can't see the imo people who voted For Hope and do you the reason PDP took 2 lga I'm okigwe.... I will tell you, cos 80% of them shared the sentiment that it was time for owerri zone to lead the state, they were sympathetic to the zone and see them self having a clear shot at Douglas house after owerri. Like I said earlier Nwosu won orlu because he had the state arsenal at his disposal, cos ordinary he should be in the fourth position or even worse.... You see am finding it difficult to understand how you will say imo people voted for Hope, if you can me understand, please do. Now on the position of INEC, please did you ever try to read the transcript on the judgement from the election tribunal to appeal court, none of the 26 ward agents called by Hope where able to prove the results sheet provided by Hope was authentic, NONE, you ask yourself how come with the 300+ for Hope, the tally exceeds number of accredited voters or you should ask yourself did INEC just add the votes of other participants in the election and purposely remove that of Hope?.... Please think and just to be clear INEC did mention that some wards were cancelled due to irregularities and 80% of those wards where in orlu zone, mostly in ohaji/egbema and you I know that is Nwosu stomping ground, so there is no way Hope would have won there... Hope can not just manufacture his own results and expect INEC to just accept it. On the issue of the SC... It's just laughable at there judgement... The SC by its ruling maintained that Uche Nwosu was the original candidate for the APC and not Hope ( which makes hope not eligible to contest the election) but we still have the same SC pronouncing Hope the winner of the election as the candidate of APC.... Please I want to ask you, do you make any sense in that cos I don't.... Please we should all be ashamed on behalf of our SC this judgement cos all other nations will look at us and very hard at such stupidity. 1 Like |

dlondonbadboy:Am sure you don't mean this, we had 5 prominent politicians who fought for Douglas house. 2 from orlu zone (12 lga's) - Nwosu and Hope 2 from okigwe zone (7 lga's) - Ararume and Ohakim 1 from owerri zone (8 lga's) - Ihedioha You and I know clearly (if you are from imo state) Nwosu won 70% of orlu zone cos of the machinery's of the state government at his disposal (the reason he came second), leaving 25% for Hope (the reason he came a distant 4th, cos he couldn't take orlu which should have been his winning turf) and 5% was shared between Ihedioha (his deputy, a deep orlu man) and Ararume. Ihedioha swept clean the entire owerri zone cos of believe of the owerri people that it was there time to rule and the misgivings of Rochas to the owerri clan. Ararume won greater percentage of okigwe but PDP and AA had a good show, winning some lga's. Where they manufactured the 300+ votes for Hope is what I still can't understand, which lga's, is it orlu which Nwosu clearly won or owerri or okigwe. Face the truth brother, the odds where in Ihedioha's favor and he truly won, so if are talking about spread don't even go there cos Hope did not win up to 9 lga's. 1 Like 1 Share |
