Milk him up. Lots of milk, he will be fine. Don't try and induce vomiting. Never do palm oil, it doesn't neutralize enough poisons. By the way, vitamin D supplement for breastfed babies refers more to babies born in the western world and their mothers' diet: they are not red meat eaters like Africans are. We do red meat in meals at least twice daily, so you're passing on enough vitamin D.

Never induce vomiting. Babies do sometimes pass food out of their noses and it could go into their lungs. They will asphyxiate (die from lack of air, similar to drowning). Never induce vomiting.

Someone brought in a boy who drank Sniper and he made it (barely). My daughter put the cap of her antibacterial cream into her mouth and licked the cream, months later she's chasing chickens (she and her chickens have finally called a ceasefire, so they let her hold them and she doesn't chase anymore). I didn't induce vomiting. It came out of her system.
Horrible things happen, your strength lies from learning from it, bouncing back quick and moving on.

Thank you so much I have learnt it gan ni o...no more trying to induce vomit again. About the vitamin D. It was recommended to me by a midwife in the UK

Hello dearie. Sorry about what happened.

You are not a bad mother.

Look into the mirror and repeat after me.

MOTHER.

For your son, I suggest you call your paediatrician but I guess nothing is wrong. It's just a drop then please I don't think putting your hand down his throat is a good idea.
Giving him milk is a better option. Milk neutralizes. Other mamas will respond sooner. He will be ok. Feed him milk for now.

Thank you...I just need a hug now....he is playing now and sucking normal

URGENT PLEASE

so this morning after bathing my son. All the things I needed to dress him was on the bed. After dressing him he was crying and been fussy about wanting to feed so I said let me use the opportunity to drop the vitermin D on my nipple so that he can suck. Unknowingly it was olbas oil (I use a drop of olbas oil on his cloth because he has cold) that I dropped on my nipple. I noticed he spat out the breast milk and spoilt his mouth. I gave him the second time and the same thing happened. I looked at my side and noticed that I just dropped olbas oil instead of vitermin D.

I was confused for a few seconds and they put my hand down his throat to vomit. He vomited all the milk and drug I gave him. I used cotton wool and warm water to wash his mouth and then breast Fed him with the other breast. All this happened about 2 hours ago. He slept and just woke up.

Please someone should tell me he will be fine.that nothing will go wrong with my 4 month old

I feel so horrible, like I am a bad mother, I can't stop crying, why didn't I notice....why didn't I pay more attention, why wasn't I more vegillant. God no please...I am so sorry. I am such a terrible mother. I feel like a failure. embarassed

It's really expensive at your healtg centre o. Most private hospitals that I know give it for 8500/9k.
Interestingly you can administer rotavirus vaccine yourself. its an oral drop. If you're in lagos, medvacc sells it for #5650. alpha pharmacy sells for 6k/7k.
The vaccine is called Rotarix. check for their phone number online and place your order. take an ice bag when going to pick up.

My baby has taken the first Rota but he is yet to take the second dose is it possible to still take it at 19 weeks please?

So mamas I wanted to share something incredible with you guys. See, my son has been having cold and serious nose block that prevented him from having good night sleep.last 2 nights I got so tired and frustrated that I wished I have bought nose spray, so I went online saw that my breast milk can help in a natural way. That is how I washed my hand, expressed small amount of hindsmilk (he has been sucking for 20 min) on my palm and used a syring I use for his drug and then dropped 3 drops on each nose. About ten minutes later it worked like magic, He slept. Though the nose got blocked again like two times during the day and I repeated the same thing. Finally his nose is free and he is sleeping soundly.

You can also express directly into the nose. Just target the nose and press the areola.

Mamas good morning. Please my 3weeks old daughter poops a lot. 3/4 times a day. She is both breast and formular fed but formular is maximum of two 90ml bottles per day. I have been giving her NAN and I don't know if that is the culprit so I got Similac this morning. However, I want to know if it's normal (I doubt 3/4 times poo for a new born is normal). My diet has been good and varied. She eats really well but the constant pooing is what I'm not comfortable about. Had anyone's baby reacted to NAN or is this normal for breast/formular fee babies?

Personally I think it is normal because according to science their stomach is yet to develop to a level that food can stay very well. For the next month expect poo as she eats. Its only recently that my 4 month old started pooing once a day and sometimes he won't for like three days. So don't beat it. It is normal

Giddyperson and blackftm, God bless ur caring husbands. When will I stop hearing "come and carry him, he needs to suck", just after five minutes of DH carrying DS ooo. Sometimes I just kuku carry him all alone

BLACKFTM, thanks for the review. Instead of me to buy baby sling or wetin oyibo call am, I kukuma carry wrapper. Abeg na carrier I want to. grin grin

E better o my sister. Because when the baby don add weight wella, the sling will be unable to hold him. I use wrapper around the house when DS is fussy and then use carrier when going out

Hello mama....my four months old baby is the same....he eats everything his hands can grab. He is likely teething. He has about 5 teethers. I sterilize it daily, get it cold in the fridge and then give it to him. You could also wash your hand and fingers very well and give him your thumb to suck, trust me he will love it

Please which is better, a sling carrier or a normal baby carrier? @onegai @alphahandmaiden @feddy and other mamas

Please don't waist money on sling....sling is better when they are new born, no much weight and they sleep a lot. Carrier is far better.

Benignasweety, thank you so much and congrats on your successful completion of your program

Please mama's Abeg make una try answer this my particular question. My baby is 2 months 17 days today. I want to buy a suitable baby carrier for him. Please advice me on the best and affordable one and what I should look out or consider in my choice making.

THIS ONE IS URGENT OO, MAKE UNA NO IGNORE

Well I have been using the ergo 360 baby carrier since he was 6 days old. I got it for about £130. Sincerely I can tell you that since I have being using it I never had back arch or shoulder pains. Even if you want to use any carrier that is cheaper please always go for the one that your baby's leg will be in a frog leg like shape when wearing it, this must be so because of his hips. Another thing to look out for is that the shoulders should be padded to avoid pain and also go for one with waist pads and other features to straighten your back. Please note that good carriers don't make you bend your back when you carry your baby rather your back will be straight.

My baby has been so extra since last night. I wonder if she's teething and if this is how I'd be suffering whenever she grows a new tooth. She's so cranky and keeps fighting sleep.

Last night hubby tried to put her to sleep at the same time he does every night but it just wasn't working. He tried all his methods, even brought out rocker all to no avail. At some point I had to pity him and take over cuz it was almost midnight and he had work in the morning. Finally took her to the living room and kept walking in circles for what seemed like eternity before she was finally defeated.

Took her back into the bedroom and put her in her cot. Hubby was sprawled diagonally across the bed, passed out. I woke him to lie down well so that I can lie down, and as soon as he got up, he picked up one folded wrapper that was lying on the bed, threw it up twice and caught it, then hugged it cheesy cheesy that's what he does with the baby so I believe he thought he was holding her cheesy. I laughed until I almost cried then I collected the wrapper baby and told him to go back to sleep that the baby is asleep lol. This child would not drive somebody crazy.

Anyway what could be the cause of this extra crankiness, it can't be another growth spurt so soon unless she's trying to become a giant cheesy. She just turned 3 months btw, could it be teething.

Hahahahahah.....had similar experience with hubby. He got really exhausted with the newborn baby that each time the baby cries he will think the baby is sleeping on the bed with him and then start patting my bom as if to say "baby stop crying"

Piriton syrup i know is for babies above 1 year old(Unless the cough is really tough). Is your baby above that? If not please don't use it. To all mamas, Please lets always check the drug they prescribe for us in the hospital for our babies ohh. I returned two drugs to my doctor yesterday because they specifically stated that is not suitable for babies below 12month.

ciscamustexcel:
lol story of my life. The lady that cleans for my MIL said that they perceive breast milk as soon as you lye close to them and wake up.

Thanks.....the doc said I used reduce the dose to 2.5ml instead of 5ml

Just came back from the hospital. About the rash The doctor said he might be reacting to something that I should get agnesia or raising raving powder. (Please experience mom please advice me)

About his cold and cough. She said I should get vitamin c and bells baby cough syrup (but I am not getting the cough syrup because I know he is still very small for that)

So I was thinking maybe I should get piriton syrup because that was what a doctor almost prescribed when the cough couldn't stop awhile back.

What do you mamas think please

No it's a Catholic misson hospital. Get to ajah from awoyaya and enter any bus either CMS or obalende, tell the conductor you are dropping at jakande first gate! Take the pedestrian bridge to cross over then ask anybody on how to locate kisito it's very popular.

However I think the general Hospital Akodo (if I'm right ) is closer to you than kisito.

Thank you so much for your response. I think I would prefer the general hospital akodo but I don't know how to get there....please help me with directions. Thanks

You may try Kizito at jakande first gate! They are very good.

What kind of insect bite him? Did you see it? The rash I'm seeing looks like the very rampant skin conditions many mamas has complained about that has pus in it and itches when lo sweats and it's also very painful to burst.

However if you are certain it's due to the insect bite then please go to a hospital asap.

Additionally there's a general Hospital at ibeju lekki and Lagos island.

Please is Kizito at jakande first gate a general hospital. I live around awoyaya ajah lekki epe.....and also how to get to the one at ibeju lekki. please can I get direction on how to take public transport because I am new in this area. Thank you so much.

New here mamas. I was happy I could finally see my fellow naija mamas group other than babycenter.

My 4 month old baby was bitten by an insect I thought was a mosquitoe on Saturday night. Just last night and this morning I discovered that the bitten areas are spreading out into red small rashes all around his face. He breaking out sweat on his forehead (I had to keep him warm because I discover his nose is getting blocked with cold)

Please what can I do fellow mamas. I am a FTM and I have since being using Dustin powder but no much difference.
