Even though most of the mythical Story was overly swapped and twisted, it was enjoyable. It was a nice Greek Epic, still doesn't hold up to Troy or 300 — my ALL TIME GREEK FAVORITE EPICS storywise . Nice acting from the Villain and Henry Cavill, good to know he had Headlined a big action flick before donning the Cape. Good action scenes, still hold up tight. Love the tone. Nice shapely yansh from that Priestess mate, wonder why she looks so much like Zoe Kravitz face mixed with another actress I'm trying hard to remember?
Wonder when I'll see a nice Greek Epic portrayed to almost factual Accuracy without too much liberties and swapping. Prolly only Hercules tales gets right to some extent and maybe 300/Troy. This is my favorite genre before mehn, Greek or Roman Epics especially their Pantheons, too bad present day Hollywood got no time for ancient history/religion nowadays.
Now I make do with Fantasy. Have you watched The Odyssey 1997 All time best Greek films. If you never watch am go download asap. |

Mehn, this Shakespearean English just dey destroy person faculties. It's more or less a Play. Decent Performance from Michael Fassbender and Marrion Cottillard. Nice unique styling or color tone. Rich dialogue. I love Shakespearean movies Notable ones= Romeo+Juliet Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead Hamlet 1996 You know, it's very difficult to make such kind of movies. Very difficult! |

Bratking: It's funny reading the verbose of someone that has no idea of what they are talking about.
Quantum physicists have stated that Interstellar got the science of wormholes, black holes and space travel theoretically right, and yet, a nobody with an ITK complex seems to think otherwise.
Some people ehn. Now isn't that what make a good science fiction; getting the LAWS and THEORIES right? Especially the laws |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by blackjack21(m): 10:23am On Mar 26, 2020 |
mekaprime: Really, are you sure about that. I doubt if all the scenes in those movies obeys the laws of physics. First in interstellar, the wormhole shenanigan & how one can space jump from Galaxies to the other while making use of them is impracticable. Do you know the kind of speed a rocket needs to propel itself to and fro a wormhole? Have you considered the pressure the effect of such jump would have on the craft? How do you seriously plot a course to the other side of the other side which you intend to jump to? How do you initiate a wormhole? Have you considered the effect such jump would have on the crew? How do you know wormholes exist naturally in the universe? In the movie, the wormhole was said to be created by an advanced civilization, how many of those civilization has been discovered yet? Does the laws of physics permit traversable wormholes? In practical, nothing like this exists. All it is, is a theoretical speculation and since there are no definitive evidence to support the said theory, I'd gladly say it defiles physics as we all know it. Note that this is just on wormholes, i could pick up another subject in that movie which defiles the laws of physics as we know it.
As for the rest, of the list, don't even go there, cause they are far worse than interstellar. Seriously, Prometheus, alien convent & life. These 3 are the most terrible of the list. See the fact is that no SciFi movie 100% obeys the laws of physics. The highest you get is a 60-70%. Neil deGrasse Tyson is theoretical astrophysicist, whatever confirms to his ideas/ theories is fine by him, but another astrophysicist who has a contrary idea might debunk all he says. So, as long as there are no definitive evidence/proof to collaborate those theories, its all ideas & nothing more. Yes, some part are theories of course but, theories are still cure aspects of true science given That they do not break any established scientific laws. Wormhole is a well established theory about the action of gravity on the fabric of space time, in fact, it well beyond theory. I think what you will agree that what science fiction really mean or should be is a movies that show us the possibilities of science and technology- like Aliens, wormhole, jump speed etc. Because, there are possibilities in that... not movies that try to convince us that two parallel lines can meet, which is outright impossible. |

mekaprime: I said most, oops! i think it's all. If you're looking for a sci-fi movie were all it's scenes obeys the laws of physics, then my good man, be prepared to be disappointed.
As for wanted, yeah, I know it's not a sci-fi movie. The idea/topic of discussion here was what seems possible and as such, if we all tolerated the shenanigans in a non SciFi movie like Wanted, why shouldn't we tolerate a scene from a sci-fi movie. No, I'm certainly not looking because I've found some long ago. Interstellar The Martian Alien covenant Prometheus Cloverfield Life I Watched some scientists like Neil deGresse Tyson giving commentary about some of these movies and he had to rate them as Bombshell. You may have watched most of them...? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by blackjack21(m): 8:37pm On Mar 25, 2020 |
mekaprime: I totally get you bro, but you see, it's a SciFi movie and most SciFi movies don't obey the laws of physics and as such, anything goes. You saw the kind of advanced weaponry & cloning technology used in the movie, so that shot of his could be AI(artificial intelligence) assisted. If you haven't see Wanted, I'd really love you to check it out. Compared to Wanted, that feat seems very real & possible. Well I guess that's why 'most' are not the best. "Wanted" by Angelina Jolie and Freeman? That movie is not a science fiction. |

It's been long I so much enjoyed an Animation this way. The last time I got this feeling was from Coco (2017). It was funny, got heart, Original and fresh. Lovable characters, endearing unique Story and great CGI; all the recipe for a superb Animation. Great voice performance even though it was dubbed. Highly anticipating the sequel. No wonder Jiang Ziya look so much like this movie, it's got a dope trailer too, similar plot. Can you share the link, please? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by blackjack21(m): 5:59pm On Mar 25, 2020 |
mekaprime: Lolz, although i consider the movie a flop cause of the predictable storyline. It's a SciFi movie and a such, anything goes. Even at that, i could counter you argument by saying that the scene wasn't really as ridiculous as you put it.
The highest speed ever attained by the fastest bullet train is 400km/h. So this your atleast 3km/s is very much laughable & ridiculous (no offense Sire).
In theory, a rifle with a maximum speed of 1km/ s should hit a train moving at 400km/h. All the sniper needs is the seat position, while taking account of the wind speed & all other factors. I did the math totally wrong, sorry. I Shouldn't bunked arithmetic class. My argument basically is that; the interference caused due to the movement of the train makes that feat impossible to be attained. |

Nickshrapnel: It’s a sci-fi movie, that can be forgiven but the story is the major issue I have with the movie Yes that too. It is too predictable. But wait, are you even hearing yourself clearly about the science fiction part? What would make any Sci-Fi movie a nonsensical movie is to forget the very law of science It like cooking jollof rice: if you forget to put salt, it would still be a jollof rice, but if you forget to put rice, well, sorry what you have is just fiction. |

IHate9jerianss: For the average woman and an actress 29 is old I don't see any substance in this argument about the age of actors. It's movie, you people should understand that there's cosmetics to make actors look older or younger. If they fail to look the part it's simply the fault of the directors and maybe the people in charge of cosmetic. |

Born2Freak: What if a critique is objectively wrong?
Like someone complaining about the action scenes in an action movie. Can you imagine someone saying that a solidly edited CGI action scene in 2020 with well choreographed moves and explosions is like 1990's action movies? I have been following this argument from the onset. I think they guys that criticised the movie didn't do so objectively and the floppiness of the movie was overestimated by calling it 90's like. I think the movie isn't that good myself but, I'll try to criticize it with a much grand argument. Take the first scene for example; A guy is traveling in a bullet-train that going at the speed of at least 3km/s was shot dead by a sniper from outside the train with a rifle that has max speed of 1km/s? That is not just impossible it's absurd and a childish idea for action. And the same pattern continued to the Very end of the movie. Though if one ignore the too much make-believe in the movie, on may just enjoy it. |

kendrick93: I have no idea where you going with this.. I made a simple review about a movie i enjoyed, I wasn't advocating Obama or Picasso whatever you're on about.. The Movie isn't soley about French Art but rather about a guy(writer) who went to Paris with his fiancee...... It something like a Fantasy cos he met this many great artists, he basically time-travelled to 1900s every midnight he took a walk in Paris...
You should see the movie so you could understand better what I'm saying Ok. Maybe I will see it. |

kendrick9: You have not watched the movie but you are arguing.... No, I'm not arguing about the movie directly. My yarn is about the idea that Picasso should feature in a exclusive french art movie. It is just incongruous. It's like putting Obama on a list of Nigerian leaders, Now, That would be out of place, right? If your review is right, then something must be wrong with the particular movie. If that's not the case, then how can you review be right? |

kendrick9: I know he's Italian but he spent most his time in France I think I understand the confusion here. France is the capital of artists' world. Won't be surprised if Picasso is featured in a movie about about art anywhere in the world. But a movie exclusively about french artist, I doubt Picasso would feature because, he is not a age contemporary to any of the French greatest and famous artist. He didn't just lived in France, he passed away there too. Nice try though. We learn something new today. |
