FamilyRe: Do they Have A Case Or Are They Just Being Unreasonable? by blackmann(m): 5:15pm On Sep 09, 2015
I don't blame them. I blame the system. America today is a country where common sense is sometimes thrown out the window and money takes it's place. There are so many money hungry ambulance-chasing lawyers who want to make a case out of every tiny issue here. A woman went to a drive thru McDonald's a few years ago and ordered a VERY hot cup of coffee. Common sense will tell you to place the pipping hot beverage somewhere safely but instead she placed it directly holding it between her thighs, and as such the beverage spilled over her and gave her third degree burns. Along came a lawyer who convinced her to sue McDonald's, stating that the beverage was too hot and that they should have warned her it could cause serious burns if it pours on her body. Which sane human being doesn't know the dangers of a very hot beverage on the skin? Funny enough, she won the case. That's where I said common sense goes out of the window in favor of money hungry individuals.

Another one i read about was of a high-school kid who entered a construction site with his friends and along the line, he got seriously injured. The parents wanted to sue the construction company for leaving dangerous equipment around the site. Of course they lost.

Another one was of a lady who drove the wrong way on a highway and ended up colliding with another vehicle head on, killing herself, three out of the four little kids in the car with her, and the three occupants of the other car. It was later discovered in her autopsy that she had high levels of weed and alcohol in her system, thereby impairing her. Yet the husband wanted to sue the state for not making the roads safe and for not posting one way signs on the highway. He also wanted to sue his brother-in-law because he was the owner of the car they all died in.

Such is the level of thinking of many individuals here. The system has so made it possible to sue for everything sue able.

The question is why are Black people like this? We didn't just wake up on one morning and decided to be silly for no reason. check, study your people (black people); You'd be surprise of findings, It will blow your mind.

Have you ever been hungry in your life? and no matter what you do (with all your brilliance and intelligence), it gets you nowhere?
You are an African on homeland or you grew up on homeland, thus you were trained of the way of a standard culture. Never compared yourself with the Blacks outside the homeland or south-Africans, you will have to be in their shoes to understand.

However, true, A man must take responsibility for his actions.
I think it's just plain laziness. Many black Americans i observe here think you owe them a favor for their existence. If you are someone who moved from somewhere in Africa to the US is even worse. they feel you came here to take their opportunities from them.

There was a day my wife and I were in a subway from Manhattan to Queens. A black guy was begging for hand outs from people on the subway but most people ignored him. He then began to rant. I know he was indirectly referring to my wife and I cos we were the only other black people there that day. He was like "You Africans, you don't know it's the sweat and efforts of we Black americans that made it possible for you to be able to make it here in america." My wife was already searching her bag to hand him some money but that statement alone made me stop her.

Many are just butt lazy and don't want to work. Some of those who are successful don't want to see others more successful than them. They rather other blacks remain at the same level as they are. Once they see any other one making it more than them, they act up and try bring them down. I've seen it happen many times.

Here in the US, they are the most racist people. even to their fellow blacks. If they are criticized by whites, even over the flimsiest of things, they quickly pull out the race card. Oh, he said I should work harder because I'm black, oh the cop pulled me over and gave me a speeding ticket because i'm black, oh my boss caught me stealing and fired me not because of my theft and lazy arse, but because i'm black.

voltron:
No I did not insult you.. you simply took offense because i pointed out that you belong to a group of thought who feel that they have license to be offended but others should not be offended. You stated that much in your post -- your position is implied by your composition and stress on extra caution ... you have already drawn a line in favor of a particular audience who support extremism overtly or covertly.

Back to the issue you are trying to point out.

1: Understand this clearly.. I have a right to live just as you have a right to live. so do my opinions and yours no matter how offensive.
2: It takes maturity to accept or rejects ones opinion without killing them. it takes a deep level of immaturity to kill someone because you do not agree with them.

The 2 points above is the baseline for any discussion on what you have posted. If Muslims believe that Allah is the One and True God, that everyone must tow-the line of Islam regardless of their religion or faith. Who do you think is acting immature here then.. Stating FACTS and reality is not provoking extremists, they choose to be extremist about their faith. and I think Globally ISLAM has been perceived as PURE EVIL to the detriment of over 3 billion Muslims who claim to be PEACEFUL and against VIOLENCE.. how do you shut 3 billion Muslims in the face of deteriorating views on ISLAM?? get 0.99% of bad Muslims to kill people in Private and Public.
And that's where you're wrong. All I asked was a simple question - why do something that will further infuriate a set of nutjobs when you know what they may do? It's as simple as that. That's why I created this thread. It doesn't mean I side with the extremists or I support them or I err on the side of caution. I just put out a topic for discussion. People have their different opinions about issues. You have your opinions, I have mine. So do others. Because people's opinions differ or because someone says something you don't necessarily agree to doesn't mean that person is ignorant or immature. It's his/her opinion. You stated that yourself. That doesn't give me a reason to call u or anyone else ignorant because I see something a different way than u.

You don't need to insult me. I stated it clearly in the post that we all see what's going on in the world today, and I'm not defending the actions of these extremists. That's why I asked for people to discuss it. I see everything happening these days that make the religion look bad, and some people still go ahead to provoke more actions out of them. That's the point I want to talk about.
Christianity EtcDo People Intentionally Provoke Extremists? by blackmann(op): 4:27pm On May 05, 2015
I decided to post this here instead of the Islamic section because i want an open minded discussion from both sides. Please, please, and please, this is not a religion bashing thread. I just want the opinions of mature-minded individuals.

It is not news anymore that Islam is portrayed to some, especially in the west, as a religion of violence. Everyday we hear about killings, beheadings, kidnappings, etc all in the name of the Prophet and Jihad. Most islamic followers don't buy into this whole idea of bloodshed in the name of religious follower-ship, as most of these so-called "Islamic" fighters are more or less brainwashed by their leaders' interpretations of the islamic scriptures. If they die a martyr, they will be sent to heaven where 72 virgins await them, kill all the infidels who do not follow the path of Almighty Allah, etc.

Anyways, we all know many of these extremists go to any lengths to defend the religion, even to the extent of killing fellow human beings. We've all seen and heard of the happenings in the Arab world, ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shabbab, Al Qaeda are good examples. The whole 9-11 issue brought the religion to a new light. Ask americans today what they know about islam and I bet you 8 out of 10 of them will mention 9/11. They all see it as a religion of violence, and sadly, the media doesn't help matters as well. And all these lead many to believe that once you are a muslim, you are violent. And in order to prove that, some people tend to want to wind islamic followers up to prove that point.

We all know what happened at Charlie Hebdo offices in France in January. The cause? The portrayal of Prophet Mohammed in satire, something the Muslim faith see as forbidden. I'm not in any way defending the actions of these terrorists who think they can fight and kill innocent humans all in the name of protecting Allah.

The re are other instances too, but the one that brings me to this whole debacle happened over the weekend in Texas. For those who don't know, two gunmen opened fire at a Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest on Saturday. The two gunmen were killed before they could kill anyone. What piqued my curiousity to the fact that this was a deliberate act to wind up the muslim community all in the name of "free speech" is it seems these people had a feeling that the attack was going to happen, and therefore they had security ready, who promptly took out the gunmen within minutes.

This brings me to the question - do these people intentionally wish to portray the religion in a bad light, knowing that so many fanatics and extremists exist? What is there point? Do they sometimes take things too far all in the name of "I can do or say whatever I like, and that includes insulting another person's faith" just to provoke these few nutjobs into doing bad things just to prove a point? Why would someone want to hold a contest about the depiction of the Holy Prophet, something everyone knows the islamic faith sees as an insult and forbidden?

Another instance was the case of the Pastor in Florida some years back who wanted to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Only God himself knows what would have happened if he had carried out his threats if the world and even President Obama hadn't talked him out of it.

Provocations like the ones I mentioned above have led extremists to carry out deadly attacks on innocent lives, and these among other things have made the everyday muslim look bad, painted with a broad stroke as having tendencies towards extremism, one who prays 5 times daily, one who just wants to worship and live his life peacefully without any provocations. But do you think sometimes people carry out acts just to provoke a response from these extremists?

Your mature thoughts are welcome.

Let's all take the wool off our eyes for a moment and see what it is really. You can call me heartless, but to be honest I don't have an ounce of pity for these guys. I'm sorry to say it. Some commenters here are like Rest in peace to the Soldier of fortune, he had the chance to repent before he died, and all other wash. I tell you, from other cases, do they learn anything? This is a country that clearly states it - do not traffic drugs on our land or else if you are caught, you will be executed. Simple. But no, they still go ahead and were caught, tried, and executed and people are having pity for them. Not me.

I'm sure if they weren't caught, they will be the kinds that will come back home with their ill-gotten money, drive flashy cars, drink the best wines, go to the best clubs and have the best girls at the snap of their fingertips. They will be the types that will be hailed and praised, all the "roger sir" and "we dey your behind" shenanigans. Hey, why not throw in a chieftancy title while you are at it?

Let's stop pitying these people. These cases should be a lesson for others, but I honestly doubt it. I'm pretty sure there will be another Nigerian(s) who will still be caught at some point, and the whole process will repeat itself.

TravelRe: Funny Experience At The Us Embassy Lagos by blackmann(m): 5:34pm On Nov 05, 2014
This one happened in the US Embassy in Abuja. My wife and I went for our interview as I was granted Admission for my Phd Study. We didn't count up to 5 people who were granted visas the whole 2 hours we were there. One that got me laughing was one old igbo lady. She didn't speak english and the consular officer brought an interpreter for her. After so many questions and translations, the consular officer told her he was denying her the visa. Immediately it was translated to her, na so she understood english sharply. "What!!! You are denying me a visa? No!! You cannot deny Me!!!" See as everyone burst into laughter that day. The consular officer then said he thought she didn't understand english, switched off the mike, and turned his back to her. Nothing the woman said moved him.

The last we saw of her after my wife and i left was she was trying to re-enter the premises. I'm sure she wouldn't have been given audience twice on the same day.
PoliticsRe: Support Our Troops Not The Terrorists by blackmann(m): 6:00pm On Oct 07, 2014
It's not the people's fault, it's the media and the Web. CNN is very culpable of that here in the US. If it is not ISIS, it is Ebola, if it is not Ebola, it is one person killing someone or kidnapping and raping the other. The media has a hand in spreading these monsters' propaganda. When James Foley was beheaded, the number of hours the media dedicated to that story alone was even more than what they gave to the president's speech. Liveleak.com had a very high number of traffic from people who wanted to view the beheading video, and due to their stupid "rights" to free speech and information here, the authorities couldn't tell them to take it down. Sames goes for the other beheading videos and other atrocities these monsters portray on the media and Internet. But can we blame the media as well? All they care about is the number of viewers and hits their stations and sites get daily. It's all about who gets the "exclusive" first or who gets to release the story first.
