Raalsalghul:No way Black Adam will under perform.. The Rock himself is a marketing machine and his films always do well at the box office Black Adam will do very well, there is nothing to worry about. But from now on WB should stop producing films that no one asked for. I have looked at DCEU slate from Man Of Steel to BOP. BOP is the only DC film that has no business being in existence, no one asked for it, doesn't push the DCEU forward and only there to add to Harley Quinn story. Another major reason for BOP box office travails is the fact that it is R rated... BOP had no business being R rated...freaking Suicide Squad was PG13 and it earned $700m....if you take away the teenagers that went to see the film, you would be looking at only $400m. So yes PG13 is an advantage, not every film can try R rated and do well. Birds of Prey is suffering now cuz many young DC fans can't see the film. I hate to admit it but hulk616 was right Moving forward, a spin-off like Gotham City Sirens (if it ever happens) should stick with PG13. Female centric comic book films struggle to take off at box office....only a handful has managed to break the glass ceiling. Looking forward to the future of DCEU. We still have.... WW84 Flash Batman Suicide Squad Black Adam Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 We can breath a sigh of relief as we ain't getting any more BOP-like unnecessary films again , the slate looks solid....BOP should hopefully break even but nothing spoil. |

teewhydope:How did it get to 90's... I still predict it will finish in 70's at best I know how critics on RT treats most DC films. |
Birds of Prey debuts with 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a DC film therefore it is expected to go down 10 to 12 places and finish between 68 or 70. I know some folks here were worried about the review embargo lifting late but it doesn't always mean that a movie is bad and the studio is afraid to lift the embargo ![]() All indication points to Birds of Prey being a good movie if not great. IGN gave it an 8/10 and it's one of the few trusted sources that reviews films without bias ![]()

TheKingIsHere:You said $400m is a massive success for R rated films. SMAUG argued that such number is low and average for DC and Marvel films even if it's R rated. You don't seem to agree with that. That's the crux of the matter. No one is wrong to be disappointed if BOP early box office projections is only flirting around Shazam numbers. I read SMAUG argument, there was nowhere he was hating on BOP neither was I. His expectations are high..maybe too high for you. |
[quote author=TheKingIsHere post=86394910] What was charlies angels 2019 total BO? You want to compare a pG13 movie that made $70m total BO and and R-rated low budget movie that will make $400-600m+ or even more at the bo?I never compared BOP to Charlie Angels. I only implied that BOP is a bigger film than Charlie Angels and should never earn Charlie Angel's numbers at the box office. That would be an insult to DCEU..R rated or not. When joker was tracking for a $200-$300m+ final BO, i didnt see any of you coming here to tell us that this too low for almight Joker or DC or whatever.Joker surprised everyone, no one expected such a massive success. It had no batman, no CGI action spectacle, it wasn't a typical comic book film. Those that pegged it's early box office overall at $300m were not wrong and I wasn't surprised or complain about that number. Why should anyone? BOP can turn out to be a surprise hit, I will be happy. My expectation are high for BOP and I will be surprised if it doesn't top Shazam overall number. Is it because it is a female movie that y'all are just hating or what?Beat Shazam's number and I will be happy, that's all I want. I don't care if it's R rated or not. Being R rated must not stop it from eating 400m or something close to that. I want this movie to be a box office hit. I will not lower my expectation just because it's R rated. |
[quote author=SMUAG post=86392500] I didn't say any R-rated movie that makes #400m isn't a success, I categorically stated MCU and DCEU because of how popular they are. In fact, there is no household/family (currently) that one person is not conversant with either DC or Marvel's characters. For unpopular movies, like the core horror movies, I will say #400m is a huge success, but not to DC or Marvel. That number for DC or Marvel is not encouraging at all.TheKingIsHere you can argue back and forth but this right here is the truth. Even though Shazam was a box office success, even I consider it's numbers to be below average...when it didn't pass 400m we blamed WB for releasing it 3 weeks before endgame. Which is true cuz Endgame took the wind off Shazam's sails. But with Birds of Prey it's different now. There is no Endgame to use as an excuse. No big movie releasing in the same week as BOP and little to no heavy competition for box office money in the entire month of February. Apart from BOP, Sonic is the only popular film releasing in February. Now all I need is BOP beating Shazam and earning between $380m to $400m. For a movie that features Harley Quinn I think I'm setting the bar way too low. A DCEU film like BOP earning below $400m should be considered an anomaly...R rated or not. This is a DC film not freaking Charlie Angels for crisakes! |
Anytime Grace Randolph smells something that sounds like a bit of good news for Birds of Prey she will run to twitter and try to debunk it. Last week she she was angry that Birds of Prey got positive reactions on social media, claiming that the film is just as bad as suicide squad and does not deserve praise because suicide squad was panned. BTW, I just need BOP to beat Shazam...

Raalsalghul:True that ![]() I'm still waiting for the critics that hated Joker and mocked Aquaman for using excess CGI |
WB has held test screening, fan screenings and a premier in London today and I am yet to come across a negative review of Bird of Prey. Looks like the winning streak of good DC films will continue ![]() I'm hyped for the movie. TheKingIsHere, Minemrys, Pu7pl3 |
nani667:CW and their crappy DC shows... ![]() It's now quantity over quality for them. Arrow is dead now and so is the arrowverse for me Doom Patrol S2 is the only DC show I'm really waiting for since Watchmen ain't coming back Who knows what Greg Berlanti is going to do to Green Lantern series on HBO Max Only God can save us from Greg Berlanti

TrebleChamp:The true heir to Robert Lewandowski's throne. It is written in the stars. Just like strikers like Aguero, Lewandowski, Suarez rose to stardom and dominated the 2010's. Harlaand will dominate the 2020's. The boy is a beast. |
OnlineSalesNG:Terminator dark fate was made to pander to feminists. In fact it is a feminist and heavily female centric film. The movie had 3 female protagonists , only 1 was male and a male villain. The director himself confirmed that he wanted the movie to scare away misogynists and sexist trolls...and it looks like the movie did way more than that as it failed to attract audience and failing woefully at the box office. Go Woke Go Broke

Treyknowles:Terminator franchise is one that I love so much. T2 is one the films that made my childhood. So yes...it is kinda personal. |
acedsportsng:Plz don't insult my precious Spiderman. Every Spiderman film has a new villain with a different motivation. You cannot compare Mysyerio to Dr Octopus or Vulture to Green Goblin. Yes Spiderman films follow the typical save the world storyline typical of superhero films but every new movie is different from the other story-wise. 2 movies already and none of Tom Holland films mirrored Tobey's films storyline the way Dark fate is recycling stories. You don't even understand my question about Avengers. Imagine Marvel doing Infinity saga again but this time replacing Thanos with Dr Doom and bringing in New characters to replace old ones. Recycling and re-branding a infinity war and endgame story. How would you expect Marvel fans to feel about that ?Answer it and stop dodging |
acedsportsng:I laugh at the emboldened ![]() Someone thinks it's a good idea to recycle a story we have seen before ![]() Also Dark Fate made every other terminator movie after T2 look like a colossal waste of time. Those films have been rendered useless now thanks to lazy writers who can't try something new for once instead of recycling a story. Imagine Marvel doing Infinity saga again but this time replacing Thanos with Dr Doom and bringing in New characters to replace old ones. Recycling and re-branding a infinity war and endgame story. How would you expect Marvel fans to feel about that Just say you saw Dark fate for action scenes and CGI nothing more. |

Darksider131:Anybody that loves actions and doesn't give a damn about the storyline that the previous terminator films established will definitely love Dark Fate. THAT IS A FACT |
kendrick93:That is what Dark Fate is....a disgrace to the franchise. The only way I can enjoy that film is by wiping off my memory of other terminator films especially T1 and T2. Sometimes I blame movie goers that applaud a mess like this. They do not deserve to be called Terminator fans. A bunch of lazy writers recycled a story we have seen before and re-branded it with some new characters and you think it's good. Imagine Marvel doing Infinity saga again but this time replacing Thanos with Dr Doom and bringing in New characters to replace old ones. Recycling and re-branding a story. How would you expect Marvel fans to feel about that ![]() Curses will follow anyone that tries to do another Terminator film. I'm happy the movie flopped at the box office. Terminator is a dead franchise. There is no need flogging a dead horse. They should leave it alone. |
Darksider131:The story line is terrible, it's like you don't even understand T1 and T2 and other sequels that followed a streamlined story before this garbage. Go and watch the previous terminator films again and come back to modify your comment. I never mocked the action in film. Read where I wrote it clearly that Dark Fate is a good action film but a terrible terminator film. If there was nothing like Terminator 1 and T2 and Dark Fate happened to be the first film I wouldn't be complaining. But Dark Fate completely veers off and destroys the foundation upon which this franchise was built upon by recycling a story we have been told before. Tufiakwa...! |
TERMINATOR WOKE FATE....3/10 My Review SPOILER ALERT Like I said in my previous post the only people praising Terminator dark fate are those who love good action films...and yes it is a good action film. This movie has some of the elements of a good action film but it is a horrible terminator film and I will explain why. There are a lot of things I hate about this film but first let me start with the positives. PROS... Good Acting except..... Linda Hamilton...yes the acting in this film was really good. I thought Justin Bieber and the Mexican chick did well with what they were given but Linda felt off and bored. Something tells she only came back for this unnecessary sequel just for the money. She looks uninterested and it showed in her acting....my personal observation tho. Justin Bieber....that lady really impressed me. I think she was by a mile the best character in this film. Great action sequences.... The action in this film was really good and keeps you hooked and at the edge of your seat. That's all with the positives.... When this movie came out people were calling it the best Terminator movie since T2....and it makes sense because the sequels after T2 brought the bar way too fuçking low. And if anything, this movie only brought that bar a lot lower. Now let me explain why I hate this movie and rated it 3/10. CONS.... 1. HORRIBLE RECYCLED STORY The movie starts off by killing John Connor... the importance of this future freedom fighter residing in Sarah Connor's womb was stated from the first Terminator movie. This kid MUST be born, protected, and cultivated to save humanity. But no... just kill him off because they're clearly out of ideas, so let's start from scratch. There, that's all you need to know. Everything Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese went through Terminator 1 was for nothing. Everything John, Sarah and Uncle Bob went through Terminator 2 was for nothing. Now do you see what I meant when I said Dark Fate is a disgrace to Terminator 1 and T2. This movie sh*ts all over everybody's favourite films in the franchise. Question #1. Where are the robots here in 2019? Per T3, Skynet launched and Armageddon was in full effect. Never mind let's move on. Eventually, a sixty-something-year-old cranky Sarah Connor enters the picture. We later find out from her that a third Arnie T-800 killed her son John in 1998. Question #2. How was John Connor killed in 1998 when he was alive in 2003 and later? Question #3. How was Sarah Connor still alive when she died of leukemia per T3? I'm finding out now that this movie is supposed to be a continuation of the timeline after T2. Which means that the three movies after T2 were a big red herring and a colossal waste of time. With a retcon it turns out that Skynet had actually sent back multiple Terminators to take out John -- a move that not only goes against the entire internal logic of Terminator 2, but also carries the added weight of having irrevocably defiled the emotional weight of Uncle Bob's heartrending death scene. In case anyone forgot, the sole reason he died was because his was the last CPU that could lead to Skynet's creation and he willingly accepted his fate to prevent that from happening. But whatever, they stopped Skynet, so now a new rogue AI has taken its place -- because what else are they gonna do? -- and it sent back a Terminator to kill some random girl who's gonna become the new leader of the resistance against Skynet 2.0. Tell me if things start sounding familiar to you, because I'm having serious deja vu here. These lazy writers recycled the same story we have been told before I'm still waiting for the promised future showdown with Skynet. One that depicts John Connor as the future leader of the human resistance, and shows the human struggle and sacrifice that leads to ultimate victory over the heartless and hostile machines. Where is that movie? Well we're never going to get a future war movie with John Connor anymore. And oh yeah, the Terminator that killed John is the same one played by Arnold -- just like Terminator 3 -- only this time he's moved on, started a family and settled down and we're somehow supposed to care about the guy that essentially murdered 2 great movies' worth of development. First of all, I can't imagine a Terminator, whose sole mission is to eliminate human existence, would decide to live a normal human life after executing its primary target. This Terminator--a machine--decided to adopt a family after killing John Connor. Like, "Well, I have no one to kill so let me settle down and start a family." Plus, he was so remorseful for that killing that he forever after helped Sarah Connor eliminate other Terminators by feeding her information. What rubbish. God will punish the person that decided a terminator, after completing it's mission, can grow a conscience and have a family. That is a very stupid thing to do. A terminator should go back to the future or self destruct after completing it's mission. What if a government organisation discovered Arnold Schwarzenegger's terminator, captured him and replicated the technology Do you see why it's a bad idea to leave a terminator lying around. 2. Dani Ramos Now we have Dani Ramos as the primary target and John Connor is totally out of the picture. We find out that Dani's main gifts are the ability to make people stop fighting each other. That's great and all but come on. John Connor was forged for the job as a leader of the resistance. His mother bore him and trained him since birth how to prepare for Judgment Day and how to fight Terminators. It made perfect sense for him to lead the resistance. His preparation was decades in the making. Now we get a woman whose greatest asset is being a motivational speaker. 3. TERRIBLE VILLAIN The villain isn't scary. They said Rev 9 is the most dangerous terminator. Well, I dont buy it. He's being bullied, bossed around, thrown everywhere, easily kept at bay with guns and overall the nice, calm, human persona of the infiltration behavioral pattern just makes the character look like a really generic villain. Calm, evil, almost psychopathic, but that is not what a Terminator is. And hilariously Arnie's Young Cameo at the start of the movie posed MORE of a threat than the entirety of the Rev 9 throughout the entire movie. It is nothing short of insane how badly they understand what a Terminator is supposed to act like. 4. FEMINISM PROPAGANDA Too much female proper gander. Too political & shoe horned. Males portrayed as bad/weak guys & females portrayed as good strong characters. Several degrading snipes a men. I.e. female lead takes clothes of male character & leaves him behind in his boxers. She does this twice. O'Conner's character tells Carl to shut the f up. And so on. Male characters sidelined or belittled. Female empowerment overload, females stole the film & did most of the heavy lifting. Toxic femininity & misandry were rife in this sequel. So overall, I have to say this film was a mixed bag. Sort of. But the female empowerment & political correctness is really starting to jar me off. This shoehorning in films today has gone too far. Male directors, writers & producers being forced to make a film which is both Politically Correct & portrays women as strong & men as weak. Long story short, the political message is made for equality but contradicts itself with male characters being put down & not being equal to female leads. Typing... |
realestniggah:The only people praising Terminator dark fate are those who love good action films...and yes it is a good action film. But is Terminator dark fate a good Terminator film? Not even close. It's a terrible Terminator film and anybody that loved the first the first two films and understands the story James Cameron took the franchise then will really hate Dark Fate. Dark Fate is a disgrace to Terminator 1 and T2...two best films in the franchise. I rate Dark Fate 3/10 A good action film but a terrible terminator film. My review coming up soon.... |
abduleez1:That cameo got me very excited the first time I saw it but thinking about it later I realised how much of a cheap fan service it was. It didn't add anything significant to the cross over story-wise....it's just there for fan service, just like Lucifer and Tom Welling cameo in the cross over...both were useless and didn't add anything significant to the show. I'm not falling for CW bullshit again....they should focus on telling fantastic stories and stop with the useless fan service. |

My box office predictions for 2020 films Bad Boys 4 Life will flop...it would be lucky if it manages to earn past $300m. Will Smith is not a selling point anymore...remember Gemini Man. Disney, after a successful 2019, will start 2020 on a sad note with Dolittle flopping hard Black Widow will not do Captain Marvel numbers but should easily earn $700m No Time To Die should do well I dey fear for Godzilla v Kong . The last film couldn't cross $500m despite the visuals and amazing action sequences. WB should push this film to next year. People are getting tired of the never ending Fast and Furious films. Fast 9 will do well but not like the last two installments in the franchise. Universal don milk that franchise tire Soul will turn out to be Disney/Pixar best animated film of 2020 and one of the best films of the year. Tenet will become one of the most successful Christopher Nolan films ever...it is also my most anticipated film of 2020. Mulan is just a cash grab for Disney. I don't like it when Disney remakes their classics. They ruined Aladdin for me and I didn't watch Lion King remake and never will. I pray Mulan flops so that Disney will have sense and stop doing useless remakes. |
