Literature / Re: Nairaland Writers, How Are You Mentally? by BlackNostra(f): 6:48am On Jan 17, 2022
Godmother:

You don't earn peanuts, that's if you know your worth. It's possible to earn $1,500 on a book of 15k words at $0.10 per word.

$1,5000 in today's currency rate is almost a million.

Besides, who says you can't freelance and still write your own books.

I think trudging on; writing books after books that don't see the light of stardom is the true form of slavery.

Money pays the bills, bring some level of comfort, and also serves as an effective tool for promoting and marketing your books.

You've got to know what you are doing to really make it as a writer.

I freelanced for a while and on some of those days I earned up to 8k in a single day. Now though, I self-publish on Amazon KDP and earn between 40k to 120k in passive income. It doesn't get better than this.

I'm contented with where I am for now, but looking to improve in the near future.

I guess the struggle here comes from the fact you are obsessed with and focused on becoming a celebrated author and it's killing you that this isn't happening.

I've sent you an email.
I'm a new writer and would love to learn from you.
Education / Re: School Of Nursing Or Tertiary Institution? by BlackNostra(f): 11:06am On Sep 06, 2021
I'm a graduate of SON Abia State, I won't advice anyone to follow that route. It's much better to get your Bsc straight, even if you have plans of leaving the country.

I'd advice you to not spend any more time schooling in naija. Work and gather your money to move to UK. When you get there you can bridge your Rn to BSN for as little as 1year. No knowledge is wasted if you choose to go for midwifery, but it's your time you would waste.
Thanks

If I were to be you I won't bother about bsc, even the 1yr6mths RM I won't do it rather I source for a job with my RN save money,do businesses save more money... Cos that money I will use and pay for RM go reach to write IELTS first...
My opinion ooo...
NGO's should be your main target they pay their nurses well than some private hospitals
Thanks, especially for the NGO info. I'll look into it.

Please I need some piece of advice concerning the next step to take. I'll be graduating from Nursing School by May and I'm weighing my options;
- Getting my bsc through direct entry. (4 years)
- Acquiring my RM certificate through post basic midwifery ( 1yr 6mths) and use the time to get prepared financially for the transition process.
Honestly, the thought of spending for another 4 years in a Nigerian university is terrifying, considering the hassles attached to it.
Please, I need a second opinion. Your response will be really appreciated.
