googi: Money & Prayer Blessed A Country Into World’s Capital Of Poverty If you think money is everything, examine how it turned the most religious Country into the Poverty Capital of the world. When you get to a point when money is no longer your problem but how to spend it, you have a greater problem. Many people prefer the greater problem of how to spend money than not to have it. An older guy once advised a young man then; that the most embarrassing situation in life is not to have money when you need it.
Some Africans ran a country flowing with honey and wara into the ground because they had the greater problem of how to spend money they never created. They think their way to happiness is to live mightily at the expense of those that have a little or without basic needs. They became the only shining stars on the hill being bowed to and worshipped like gods. Ignoramus willing to deprive others of basic means of sustainability as long as they accumulate loot to the point of impoverishing their own countries.

DMerciful: Only 2 military coup happened Nigeria! [b] The Nzeogwu 1996 coup that overthrew Balewa-Zik govt and Buhari coup that overthrew Shagari's govt.
These were democratically elected govts, others were illegitimate military govts so they weren't legal in the first place so deserved to be dislodged!
The January 1966 Coup
The January 1966 Nigeria military coup began on January 15th, 1966.
It started when some Nigerian soldiers led by Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna killed 22 persons.
The persons killed included the Prime Minister, several senior politicians, senior army officers, and their wives, and sentinels on protective duty.
The coup plotters attacked Ibadan, Kaduna and Lagos and blockaded the Niger and Benue River within 48 hours before the plotters were subdued.
Following the coup, Johnson Aguiyi Ironsi, the General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army, took charge of the country.
This put democracy in Nigeria on hold.
The casualties of the coup included the country’s Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Belewa, the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Samuel Akintola, the finance minister, the Premier of the Western Region, Festus Okotie-Eboh and many others. This singular action destroyed The Nigeria foundation left by the fleeing British, igbos can be accused as the destructors Of Nigeria, they brought the irresponsible, young Military into power. |

Litmus: Prominent citizens shouldn't be making incendiary ethnic statments publicly, not that they should continence such thoughts in the first place let alone make them privately even, such thinking and statments should be the dormain of uninformed masses.
It is worrying also that anyone in government harbours tribalistic notions. Of course we know that they do but the confident betrayal of the fact says a lot about the contempt they hold, or in this case held, for the notion of Nationhood under which we labor. Nigeria was established on ethnicity, not Nationhood, and the ignorant citizens have fueled it, Gowon had a vision by setting up NYSC to harmonize nationhood, but when you listen to goat head crossed eyed so called elder statesman like falae say such rubbish, you cannot but wonder?, the youths today are worse than their parents, ethic bigotry is too much for a people that call themselves one nation. The rural dwellers have long gone been neglected especially provision of electricity due to the fact that they are not connected to the national grid but the narrative has changed because the Buhari Osinbajo administration will light up the rural areas with 5 million solar products. More to come. Nigeria has all the best plans on paper, implementing is the problem, cut & paste is easy, putting the theory to work is everything. |

Ghostmode2two: I quite agree with you, the government is a reflection of the people and the society at large. One basic problem with us is the love for money and me first attitude. Until we purge ourselves of the love for money and the thought of me first, we will remain a disgrace to the world. Imagine that someone has the old post paid meter working fine, but the electricity people refuse to pick the reading, all they do is give estimated billing. I wish the electricity distribution company could make a platform where we can take photo shoot of the meter reading and send to them for billing that would help since the card meters are not coming. I lived a score, in the diaspora U.K., United States, was excited to come back home, sorry to say Nigeria has no hope, this jargon we practice in Nigeria called Democrazy has destroyed the country to the ground, & will only destroy it more. welcome to Babylon, I don’t expect anything much from elected officials because a bad tree can never yield good fruits. |
