i don't have any issues with those supporting Buhari. But what I have issues with is when the claim his is corruption free and only associates with saints.
Most PDP people are known criminals...but Buhari ignores their crimes when they serve him and fights them when they don't.

Politics / Modibbo Kawu In Hate Speech Against Saraki On Whatsapp by BlackPeni5: 10:05pm On Aug 05, 2018
A senior Buhari administration official who has slammed arbitrary fines on media organisations for allegedly broadcasting hate speeches has himself been caught spewing vicious propaganda on WhatsApp.

Modibbo Kawu, director-general of National Broadcasting Commission who has led the charge against government-defined hate speech, shocked many in a WhatsApp group of northern editors and intellectuals on Thursday morning after going on a hate-filled tirade targeted at Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Mr Kawu, also of Kwara State, ventilated about Mr Saraki’s influence on Kwara people and said the situation has gone beyond normal.

“It is not the “natural” human condition to continuously vote for a kleptocratic hegemony such as Saraki has imposed on our dear Kwara State,” the NBC chief said shortly before 9:00 a.m. Thursday.

He then went on to detail a slew of nasty and uncorroborated assertions against the Senate President, all to the consternation of the group’s members who immediately carpeted the top bureaucrat for using the platform to further the cause of ethnic and sectarian tensions.

“Bukola Saraki’s hegemony has been responsible for a systematic underdevelopment of Kwara; the entrenchment of a pattern of cult killings and blood letting that’s unique.

“And over a three year period, 2010, 2011, and 2013, tens of people were killed in stampede in front of the offices and residence of the Saraki. Even the Offa “robbery” where 33 people died was far more like their pattern of ritual killings than robbery!

“How much money do they have in Offa banks that 33 people had to be killed? These are questions people ask in Kwara. Hopefully the incredibly arrogant Bukola Saraki, whose family has no Asali whatsoever, has finally arrived at a denouement! Nothing lasts forever; not a kleptocratic hegemony; not an oppressive domination of a state by a family, which really isn’t even from our state!” Mr Kawu said.

“That’s why he doesn’t share the values of our community; looks down at our people and carries himself with so much contempt!’ Mr Kawu said. ‘Even his names tell anyone who knows Ilorin that this is an “alien” individual. His full names are OLUBUKOLA OLABOWALE ADEBISI (sic).”

“These are not names an Ilorin person would normally be called. And he didn’t have a Muslim name until he wanted to run for governor in 2002-2003! They first named him Muktar after his grandfather and that was then dropped for Abubakar, the name his father was also “borrowed” in Ilorin. These are the facts!” Mr Kawu said.

Some members of the WhatsApp group were enraged by the level of ethnic and religious epithets emanating from Mr Kawu, who was once an editor of Daily Trust, and took turns to condemn him. and preach oneness instead.

“We should not allow politics to becloud our judgments and hence destroy all the principles we claim to stand for,” a member of the group Zainab Okino said. “We cannot build or grow a nation, when we remain stuck in the past; that one is not qualified for this or that because he’s not from so so state.”

“Instead we should work towards being citizens of one nation identified only by residency, without labelling or profiling. This is an ideal which I thought Modibbo espoused.

“How will he feel if Kwara people also disclaim him, having traced his origin to Wurno in Kebbi or may even be farther to Futa Jalon in Guinea, Senegal or Mali.

“We all come from somewhere, so it should not be a yardstick to assess individuals, even if they do not represent what we stand for,” Ms Okino added.

Another member of the group, Ibrahim Sheme, put a simple question to Mr Kawu about Mr Saraki: “Is he a Muslim or not? I thought he was.”

Mr Kawu did not return PREMIUM TIMES requests for comments between Thursday and Sunday.

Unbridled hypocrisy

Mr Kawu’s bilious rants were apparently aimed at consoling himself and other supporters of Mr Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress for the recent events in politics. The APC has lost scores of state and federal lawmakers within the past week, with many defecting largely under the influence of Mr Saraki.

Mr Saraki dumped the ruling party after several months of tension between him and the Buhari administration. The APC blamed the top lawmaker for its woes, and his latest political exploits had been seen as highly pivotal and potentially caustic for Mr Buhari’s re-election bid.

While Mr Saraki has faced heavy backlash for his manoeuvres, including murder allegations without evidence and attempts to remove him as Senate President, top Buhari administration agents largely avoided using charged invective against the lawmaker.

A career journalist, Mr Kawu was appointed head of NBC in May 2016 by Mr Buhari. His immediate task was to “re-organise the NBC and transform the Nigeria broadcasting industry into one that can compete with the best in the world.” By December 2016, he announced the Nigeria’s launch of digital switch-over, a project initiated and built by the previous Goodluck Jonathan administration.

But he is perhaps more known for his campaign against hate speech. He, alongside Mr Mohammed, have been championing the cause for a civil and highly responsible media space.

Within the past two years, Mr Kawu has has delivered lectures against hate speech, threatened heavy sanctions against errant media houses and sanctioned scores of media houses for alleged infractions against the guidelines.

Even though the government’s definition of hate speech remains largely vague, broadcast stations have continued to comply with its fines, which had been criticised as arbitrary and unjustified.

As part of stringent measures aimed at moderating speech in public space, Mr Kawu also ordered broadcasters to minimise audience participation in phone-in programmes as a way of censoring citizens’ ventilation.

The measures had been condemned by free speech advocates and other commentators who said they confirmed fears that Buhari administration was only interested in curbing speech which it does not like. Although the government denied the allegation, an APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe was recently caught also circulating fake news online without any disciplinary action being taken by his party.

Earlier this year, an APC senator proposed a bill that sought to punish convicted hate speech purveyors with death.

Only last week, Daar Communications announced it had paid heavy fines imposed by Mr Kawu for alleged use of “provocative, inflammatory and decisive” comments during July 24 edition of ‘Political Platform,’ a popular morning magazine programme on Ray Power FM.

Although the station said it would contest the action in court, it had to first comply to avoid being forced out of airwaves by the NBC.

Politics / June 12, Another APC Distraction? by BlackPeni5: 7:30pm On Jun 10, 2018
We've always watched in amazement how we hear new distracting stories by the government whenever pressures against the government is on the rise.

In the past, It has taken the form of recoveries of huge sums of money without mentioning the owners, prosecution of high ranking persons without convictions, and numerous other media trials.

With 2019 around the corner and with little or nothing to show after 3 years in power, we are seeing the reopening of the June 12 saga.

Most shocking is the fact that, President Buhari has never made any reference to June 12 right from June 12, 1993 up till June, 6 2018. Buhari himself served under Abacha, a brutal dictator who incacerated Abiola and recently praised the dictator.

Another suspicious move by the presidency is the persons invited to attend the event on June 12 2018. if Abiola is to be honoured as a Nigerian President, then the South Western emphasis of this event should be stopped and the event opened up to many Nigerians irrespective of tribe or party affiliations.

Even Baba Gana Kingibe, while being honoured with GCON did nothing to claim or fight for his stolen mandate. Abiola suffered and died alone.

So the question on the minds of Nigerians is whether this June 12 is for real or just a smoke screen?
Politics / June 12 As Democracy Day Needs To Be Reconsidered, By Bashir Tofa by BlackPeni5: 11:11am On Jun 10, 2018
…I do not in any way begrudge him the posthumous honour, even when I insist that the right thing must be done at all times. Meanwhile, whatever may be the prevailing sentiment and politics in Abuja, the idea that June 12 should be the new Democracy Day is also a matter that deserves serious reconsideration. Such decisions should be beyond some political cold calculations.

Following the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to honour my late friend, Alhaji Moshood K. Abiola (may Allah grant him peace) and officially recognise him as the winner of the inconclusive June 12, 1993 presidential election in which I was a candidate, I have been inundated by calls from friends, well-wishers, former political associates and journalists.

While some worry about the brazen one-sidedness of this curious presidential action, especially given the list of invitees to Tuesday’s event at the Villa, supposedly to mark ‘Democracy Day’, there are also those who canvass that I be so honoured with a similar award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), if the motive indeed was noble and meant to serve the end of justice. As much as I appreciate the goodwill, in this circumstance, however, I have to say that I would not accept it as it is, even if given.

While I do not begrudge the president his power to bestow favour on whomsoever he pleases, it is also important, especially for history, for all actions from the highest authority in the country to be based on fair play and law. Needless to say, being one of the two presidential candidates in that election does not in any way define me or my achievements in life; it was not even the most important one.

As for my friend, M.K.O. Abiola, what he needs most is our sincere prayers for Allah’s mercy and the gift of Paradise for him. While some of us cherish his memory as a departed friend and compatriot, there are many who will continue to exploit it and to glory in it for their own benefits.

However, as I have reiterated many times in the past, I am grateful to the numerous Nigerians from across the length and breadth of the country who made enormous sacrifices in the National Republican Convention (NRC), as well as the millions of our citizens who voted for both the late Abiola and myself in that historic election. Much more importantly, I am most grateful to Almighty God for the several Honours He has bestowed on me; all of which have enriched my life. As for my friend, M.K.O. Abiola, what he needs most is our sincere prayers for Allah’s mercy and the gift of Paradise for him. While some of us cherish his memory as a departed friend and compatriot, there are many who will continue to exploit it and to glory in it for their own benefits.

For those who may have forgotten or never knew, the late Abiola was a close personal friend of mine, a relationship dating back to the Second Republic when I was the national financial secretary of the then ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and he was the Ogun State chairman of the party. So, I do not in any way begrudge him the posthumous honour, even when I insist that the right thing must be done at all times. Meanwhile, whatever may be the prevailing sentiment and politics in Abuja, the idea that June 12 should be the new Democracy Day is also a matter that deserves serious reconsideration. Such decisions should be beyond some political cold calculations.

Finally, like all, I am also travelling on the path prepared for me by God Almighty. He controls my destiny and I pray He will continue to favour and to guide me. All Power belongs to Him alone. He gives it to whom He pleases and He Has Power over all things, including every ambition. May The Almighty, in whose Hands lie our destinies keep our beloved country and peoples together in unity, peace and prosperity.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Politics / I'm Afraid Opposition Has More Money - Buhari by BlackPeni5: 4:35am On Jun 03, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari expressed fears yesterday that the opposition in the country has stupendous resources at its disposal in preparation for the 2019 elections which the ruling All Progressives Congress , APC, may not be able to match.

The President also said that the opposition elements were sponsoring mischief against his government in a bid to discredit him and make him unpopular.

In its immediate reaction however, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said President Buhari should rather be afraid of his rejection by Nigerians who have made up their minds to throw him out in 2019 as a result of his failure in government President Buhari, in his speech, when the Buhari Media Organization, BMO, paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, sympathised with those who were supporting his government in view of the increasing opposition against him.

He however appreciated the efforts of members of the group who he said may have lost their friends for just supporting him, stressing that it was a great sacrifice they were making without financial rewards.

According to him, “I don’t think I can thank you enough for your steadfastness under very difficult circumstances. It is not easy to defend this administration and more in particular to defend me."

“But your consistency has given me a lot of confidence. And I know you are doing it as a sacrifice not only in terms of physical or mental but material sacrifice. Because as I keep on saying, the opposition elements are now sitting on incredible resources which I am afraid we might not match at all. For that reason, the opposition is sponsoring mischief from different angles which in spite of the incumbency of government we cannot absolutely stop."

“It is you who are fighting it and I cannot thank you enough for that. Most of the people I jailed have been given back all that they had taken before I was jailed”.

The President then went on memory lane on the decision he took as a military head of state where he ordered the arrest, detention and prosecution of those who allegedly looted public funds, but also noted that those who were found not guilty were discharged.

He said, “Most of those people who were judged by the various tribunals have been given back what they have taken. I spent 18 months in detention and luckily they did not find anything against me and I was released. But my problem was that there was a journalist from Edo State who wrote an article on me that my mother had to die to save me."

This was because I was only released when my mother died to go and bury her. Of course, you know as a Muslim tradition demands that you are buried where you die.

“So, I can appreciate the sacrifices most of you sitting here have made in terms of materialism or even losing some of your friends to continue to support me. I have been here for three years and you have proved to people that you are not here for material things, but out of sacrifice and the strength of the moral courage you have is the the strength of the physical, it is the strength of losing the friends you have."

“I am sure you are being asked, this support you are busy giving Buhari, what do you get out of it. And that is why I commend your steadfastness and I am very grateful for it. In this country whether people like it or not, they will remain grateful for your courage because you have the courage to do the research, to take the time to reply mischievous representation and we are very grateful.”

In his remarks, the leader of Buhari Media Organization which was formerly known as Buhari Media Support Organization, Austin Braimoh said, the group believed in the government of President Buhari.

He said the group had in the course of carrying out its assignment used various organs of mass communication to project the administration, stressing that it changed the negative narratives the opposition was dishing out when President Buhari went on medical vacation to London.

PDP replies Buhari Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday dismissed President Muhammadu Buhari’s remark about the opposition having too much money going into the 2019 elections.

The party said rather than worry about the opposition, President Buhari should reckon with his failure to deliver on promises made to Nigerians during the electioneering campaign for the 2015 polls. National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Kola Ologbondiyan told Vanguard that the real fear the first citizen should worry about is the betrayal of trust of Nigerians. “He should be worried about the failure of his government, not about money in the hands of the opposition.

In 2015, Nigerians trusted Muhammadu Buhari and voted him to become President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. One clear year to the 2019 general elections, the same people have rejected him for failing to do anything meaningful to impact on their lives So, what should be his fear is the rejection by Nigerians who have made up their minds to throw him out in 2019,” Ologbondiyan said.

Also speaking, former Minister of Special Duties and 2019 Presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, said “Buhari’s fear is a misplaced one. At any time, no individual or political party can boast of the enormous resources in the hands of the government".

Recently, the Federal government unilaterally approved the withdrawal of $1billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without legislative approval and concerns were raised that the money could be used to prosecute the 2019 elections. The government he controls has more money than any imagined opposition and so, he should tell us something different.”

Also reacting to President Buhari’s remark, the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, yesterday, said it does not play money politics, but politics of ideology and policy formulations to deepen democracy and deliver good governance to the citizenry.

National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mr. Iheanacho Orji, faulted apprehension by President Muhammadu Buhari that the opposition has enormous money at its disposal than the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

According to him, “How could the opposition have more money than the All Progressive Congress, APC, which controls the presidency, is it possible? In a nutshell, the President’s statement could not be factual.

We know there are 68 political parties, the moment you remove PDP, you remove APGA, we have 66 other parties remaining who are not controlling executive positions in the state not to talk of the presidency.

“There is no way the opposition will have more money than the ruling party that controls more executive positions both in the states and the presidency. APGA does not play money politics; we play clear ideological politics and so, whether we have the money or not is not the issue, we don’t involve ourselves in money politics. We play ideological politics, and we are pure to the sensibility of the masses. We play politics based on policies and ideas for the betterment of the country.”

Focus on security, not 2019 elections, CSOs urge Buhari Similarly, some Civil Society Organisations have urged President Muhammadu Buhari,to focus on security and not 2019 elections.

The Country Director, Actionaid, Ene Obi, in his reaction said Buhari should not be concerned more about his presidential ambition than the incessant loss of lives on a daily basis and how to ensure the recovery of looted money and conviction of looters. According to Obi the president should think more about the plight of Nigerians who are not having access to the basic necessities of life, and also to work hard for the unity and peace of Nigeria.

According to her: “President Buhari should pay more attention to national security, the lives of Nigerian citizens, and the fight against corruption. He should charge the justice system to get more convictions on those who looted the economy. Recovered money should make a difference in the lives of Nigerians from where the monies were stolen from.

She urged Buhari to make sure the people were carried along in his policies and programmes, and also to take care of vulnerable Nigerians, especially the internally displaced persons. In his own reaction, the Country Director, Nation First Foundation, Onianwa Elidad, said President Buhari should focus more on Nigerians and how to add value to their lives because they come first before any political ambition.

“It is not good to hear this from President Muhammadu Buhari at this point. The nation should come first before any other thing, and his accusation against the opposition party could be analysed from different directions, particularly, with accusations that he has been selective in the fight against corruption.

“Mr. President, please, you should do what the constitution has mandated you especially in securing the lives of Nigerians, providing shelter and food for them. Improve on your economic policies and add value to the lives of over 180 million Nigerians”, he added.

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon West Idahosa, who also reacted to the president’s remark said “Buhari’s statement is purely diversionary. It is public knowledge that most of the opposition members standing trial and even those under investigation have their accounts frozen.

The only ones with plenty cash are ministers and heads of parastatals as well as former opposition stalwarts who are now in APC, the president’s party. God bless Nigeria.”

Politics / Ig’s Trending Video: Journalist Goes Into Hiding by BlackPeni5: 10:48am On May 19, 2018
as police launch probe, threaten bloggers’ arrest

Oyetunji Abioye, Adelani Adepegba, Gbenro Adeoye and Afeez Hanafi

A Liberty Television journalist, Aminu Nurudeen, suspected to have posted the viral video showing the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, struggling to read a speech at a public event in Kano, has gone into hiding, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Impeccable sources told Saturday PUNCH that the Kano State Police Command invited the reporter to its office immediately the video went viral. The video, shows the IG struggling to read his speech at the inauguration of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit in Kano, Kano State on Monday.

It was learnt that Nurudeen’s whereabouts had been unknown since the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Musa Magaji Majiya, invited him on Thursday.

Sources said the police authorities were upset with the journalist because he had allegedly disobeyed a directive by the Kano State Police Command to journalists present at the event not to report the IG’s blunder or make the video public.

According to sources, the IG’s blunder brought an abrupt end to the event, leading the police chief’s handlers to hurriedly usher him away from the venue of the event.

The viral video showed the IG delivering an incoherent speech, which had since exposed him to public ridicule.

In a part of the transcription of the footage, Idris said, “I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of…and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command.”

Voice of Liberty had posted the video on Wednesday. It was gathered on Friday that the IG was embarrassed by the trending video and had ordered an investigation into its release.

In the video, the police boss stumbled over nearly every word in the address, pronouncing transition as transmission and generally bungling his remarks.

As he battled to read the speech, a senior police officer moved to his side to assist him, but he still flunked the speech.

A source said that the IG explained away the video to his officers, describing it as doctored.

“He has however ordered an investigation into the leakage of the video but we are watching to see how he intends to deal with the individuals behind the viral video without further embarrassing himself and the force,” a senior police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told one of our correspondents.

It was gathered that detectives were using the police technical platform to track the original source of the video on social media.

It was learnt that bloggers that posted the video might be interrogated by the police for allegedly “peddling a doctored video meant to cast the IG in bad light and embarrass the police leadership.”

Idris, in an interactive media chat on the police Twitter handle, Nigerian Police @PoliceNG #Askthepolice, had also told Nigerians that the video was doctored.

“Yes, it was doctored,” he said in response to a question from a twitter user who wanted to know why he bungled the speech.

The mood at the Force headquarters on Friday was solemn as policemen believed the video was sponsored by the enemies of the IG.

“I believe the IG may not be the most intelligent officer, but he is capable of presenting coherent speeches,” a Deputy Superintendent of Police who also spoke on condition of anonymity said.

The police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood could not be reached for comments as he did not respond to calls.

He had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.
Nigerians have, however, reacted to the video.

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in his reaction to the video on Twitter, urged Nigerians to pray for Idris.

He said, “Our IG of Police needs prayers and we must treat him with compassion. What happened to him whilst reading his infamous “transmission” speech was not ordinary. He is the victim of dark spirits and satanic forces. We must not gloat over it or laugh at him. Instead we must pray for him.”

But the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri, on Twitter defended the IG, saying, “This video is definitely doctored.”

Nigerians however asked Dabiri to prove her assertion by posting an original video.

A former head of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Joe Abah, said the IG might be suffering from dyslexia.

@JoeAbah, he tweeted, “If this video is genuine, I’ve been advised the IG may be dyslexic. If that is the case, it is no laughing matter, and not something he should be ridiculed for. A lot of kids are dyslexic. We must ensure that they are not bullied or stigmatised. They too can become IG of Police.”

Abah was, however, countered by critics, who said the symptoms showed by the IGP were not typical of dyslexic patients.

According to a definition by NHS.co.uk, dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing and spelling. It’s a “specific learning difficulty”, which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing. Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn’t affected.

Police comment on IG video

The Nigerian Police Force has, however, claimed that the video was doctored.

On its Twitter handle during a forum tagged, #AskThePolice, one Dr. Adekola Adewale asked the Force to provide clarification on the video going viral about the IG.

Nigeria Police Force replied, “Thank you for your question. Yes it was doctored. #AskThePolice.”

But a source told Saturday PUNCH that police were being cautious in issuing an official statement to debunk the video in order not to further escalate reactions already generated by the clip.

The source said, “The video was doctored and it was meant to embarrass the Force and the IG. The police don’t want to issue an official statement because no TV station, or newspaper has carried the story. The moment a statement is issued, the doctored video would be revisited and it would escalate things. Even if the police issue an official statement, it may still backfire.”

Another source, a senior police officer, claimed that the Force had “the original version of the doctored video,” dismissing allegations that the police had invited the journalist that released the video.

“The original version of the video is available. As far as I know, the police have not ordered the arrest of anybody in connection with the video. The journalist might say the police invited him, but there was nothing like that. There is nothing like a spell being cast on the IG. Besides, there is nothing like that in law. The video was done mischievously. IG is mentally sound and he has been coming to the office every day after that event was held,” he added.

The officer stated that the video was under investigation, adding that the outcome would determine the next line of action.

The officer sent “the original video” to our correspondent on Friday evening.

But Saturday PUNCH observed that though recorded at the same event, it did not capture where a man, who appeared to be the IG’s personal assistant, assisted the police chief to check the speech he was presenting for correct pronunciation.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Getting A Job In The Oil Industry With A Third Class: How Possible? by BlackPeni5: 7:44am On Apr 30, 2018
JARUSHUB:
Recently, we got an enquiry on the possibility of a third class graduate getting a job in the oil and gas industry.

Hello JarusHub,

My name is Tosin. I’m from Kwara State. I messed up big time while studying Civil Engineering in one of Nigeria’s second generation universities. By bagging a THIRD CLASS degree. A couple of factors contributed to it, but those are just mere excuses. The bottom line is that I messed my life up.

But I know it’s never too late, no matter how late, to start a positive journey of progress. That’s where I need your candid opinion.

I want to still get an oil and gas job. Everybody I talked to has said it is not even remotely possible, but something within me tells me it’s still possible.

So, tell me, is it still possible to get an oil and gas job? If yes, what are the action steps you’ll require of me to take to move close to my goal.

Thanks and God bless.

Tosin

Dear Tosin,

First, I have always said that the Oil & Gas industry is not the only industry and the fixation of our graduates on the sector is a bit misplaced. This I discussed extensively in this article I wrote months back.

That said, there is nothing wrong in seeking to get job there.

Now, to your question: the answer is YES. There is no rule that says a third class graduate cannot get job in the oil industry. There are definitely third class graduates there.

But the challenge: it is a highly competitive industry where best graduates from best schools compete. Herein lies the issue.

At entry level, companies specify the acceptable class of degree, and, unfortunately, for almost 100% of them, third class is hardly included. In fact, it is only in very few cases that the boundary is extended to second class lower. This is even the shortlisting process, before the competition for place by way of tests and interviews begins.

At experienced level position, class of degree hardly matters, so that may be one possible route.

Yet, I wont say you can’t get job in the industry despite this deficit. There is nothing that is impossible. Few as they may be, I’m sure there are third class grads in the industry, so that’s why I said yes, you can. I have mentioned the experienced hire route, which I must say, is also a tight route except you’re very exceptional where you were coming from or you’re headhunted.

There is also the contract route. Some third party contractors provide contract staff to oil companies, and the oil companies hardly check their qualifications, since they relate with their contractors (employers) directly and relationship is not that of employee. Those contract manpower suppliers are not so strict in their qualifications pegging, since they are recruiting as contract staff, so maybe they consider third class grads too. After years of experience as contract staff, your experience and network in the industry may be useful in landing your permanent job in an oil company, disregarding your academic deficit.

Finally, don’t be fixated with the oil industry, as even first class grads are not guaranteed place. Extend your search.

By the time we are through with Buhari, he will take over from Jonathan as the most insulted former president and rightly so.

Joke of the century. A Monkey in power is still a monkey. I didn't know people could commit crimes even in unlawful detention.

Things are really falling apart. I pray these fools do not create another boko Haram.
