Politics / Detained Lawmaker Dies In DSS Custody, Says Ekiti Govt by BlackPeni5: 3:50pm On Mar 17, 2016
The alleged invasion of the State House of Assembly by men of the Department of State Services reached a feverish pitch on Thursday as the government of Ekiti State announced that a member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Afolabi Akanni, has died in the custody of the security agency.

Akanni, representing Efon constituency , was arrested on March 4, when the DSS allegedly invaded the assembly for undisclosed reason.

He was immediately whisked to Abuja where he had since been detained, in spite of the ruling of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo , ordering the DSS to either release him with immediate effect or produce him in court on Wednesday, March 16.

At an emergency press conference in Ado Ekiti by Information
Commissioner, Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi, the government insisted that the lawmaker developed an ailment midnight of Thursday and died at dawn.

Those that addressed the conference include: The speaker of the assembly, Hon Kola Oluwawole, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ajayi Owoseeni, Special Assistant on Communications to the governor, Lere Olayinka and Akanni’s lawyer, Barr Obafemi Adewale.

Politics / Re: Why PMB Got It Wrong With James Ocholi' family "compensation" - CramJones by BlackPeni5: 8:48am On Mar 09, 2016
cramjones:
This is not the first time we would hear things like "automatic employment" or "automatic scholarships" in Nigeria. It has indeed become a national banter in the Nigerian political space. The latest one being PMB to the family members of the late James Ocholi, SAN. Let us see why this makes the government look bad, and why actions like this continually affirms that Nigeria is a failed state!

Firstly, what does automatic employment really mean? It simply means that whether qualified or unqualified, you would be given "job". This further shows that an appreciable proportion of the the work done in our Ministries are performed by unqualified people. In a country where actual work gets done, would never have any allowance for "automatic employment". Employment in any serious economy is based on merit and capability. The keyword is "capability". Even if you knew someone to get the job, you must be capable.

Secondly, this phenomenum shows that the job position was not needed in the first place. it was created based on emotions and the need to "compensate" a political family. What this means is that there would be virtually no work being done, but salary paid. Perhaps that is why there is no need to prove capability or qualification, because the position is simply created to pay someone salary, and not out of need to drive the goals of the ministry forward.

Thirdly, this attitude brings us to the big picture of the rot in our civil service. I met a young man recently who told me he worked in the civil service in Abuja, and only shows up to work twice a month! There is absolutely no how Nigeria can develop if we see government jobs as places to earn salary rather than to work. When work is not performed nothing moves. Could this be why Lagos seems to be the only city that is a bit insulated by the recession because they work for their money and do not rely solely on oil money where less work is needed?

Could the western world be right about their stereotype of blacks being lazy? Is it by fluke that Japan, South Korea, Germany and the rest of the pack are where they are today, while we wallow in our mediocrity, nepotism and lacadesical approach to work? GEJ did the same "automatic employment" to the family of those murdered as by the past Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, through the immigration employment scam. Rather than bring the killer minister to justice he opted for a murderer to remain in his cabinet and "solved" the problem by "automatic employment".

Can Buhari and his government take a different turn, by bringing to light and fixing our dead emergency response system, dilapidated highways, and most especially fix our comatose, non-functional health care system. Won't this be a much better way to honor the family of the late James Ocholi?

I wish the Ocholi family well. This is not meant to attack them, but to highlight a fundamental problem with our system. May peace and comfort anchor this grieving family, and may the souls of the departed rest in peace.

-CramJones

My brother, we live in a world of probabilities. The probability of him surviving the accident with a seat belt is 50% while that of surviving without one is 5%. There was no collision, but the car summersaulted. If he had used a seat belt, he wouldn't have been thrown out and may have sustained none life threatening injuries. I'm saying this because a friend of mine who also suffered the same fate survived because of his seat belt.

Politics / Heardsmen: License To Kill With Immunity by BlackPeni5: 10:20pm On Mar 05, 2016
I find it worrisome that despite the wanton killing of innocent citizens and displacement of thousands by the marauding herdsmen in Agatu and recently in Lagos, nobody is talking about bringing the culprits to justice for their crimes.

Even the police are only talking about restoring peace...what they don't understand is that there can be no lasting peace if there is no justice.

This trend will only encourage criminality on a larger scale since you will likely get away with whatever crime you commit if you carry it out on a large scale. Even the police will be begging for peace between the parties.

Shameful.

These guys are still butthurt about the joint kick their ineffectual buffoon received from these two great political heavyweights, and will clearly do anything to amplify this conflict among touts in a bid to break our winning alliance.

Even when Yoruba and Fulani are fighting...you were able to bring Ipad into the discussion.

The Hausa and Fulani are actually the wise ones cos they have succeeded in dividing the south and conquering the south west.

Hypocrisy in this country stinks to high heavens. You see people find it very easy and simple to insult Muslims or Islam over what is norm, tradition and culture in the suppose "holy south" where a girl leaves her parents' home to be with her man friend even when she is 14yrs old. In fact, some to the baby factory at the age of 13. The funny thing about the people insulting Islam and practicing Muslims is that they are dirty people doing all sorts of dirty and abominable acts.
How can a sane man "abduct" a suppose sane girl from bayelsa to Kano without her full consent? Does it make any sense? So Yunusa forced her to a cab all the way from bayelsa to Kano without facing any resistance from her and without anybody noticing? This is the very vital question the "holy ones" need to ask themselves. No practicing Muslim will support what Yunusa did. Credit to the Emir of Kano who happened to know the issue and immediately wrote to the police for further action, even though his order was not carried out. Hmmm.. Naija media as usual: If Solomon as individual human being commit, they will say "Solomon committed...."
But if Sulaiman as individual human being commit, they will say "Northerners, Islam or Muslims committed...."

Northerners and Muslims too like pusssy that's why dem dey hide their women because they don't have self control.

Politics / Re: Kachikwu: NNPC Back In Profit, To Be Broken Into 30 Firms by BlackPeni5: 6:49pm On Mar 03, 2016
Confused government...They initially said it would be merged. Later, NNPC will be broken down into four entities. Now its 30 entities.

I'm pretty sure very soon each Nigerian will be a subsidiary of NNPC as there will be 170 million entities.

Politics / NNPC To Be Unbundled Next Week – Kachikwu by BlackPeni5: 6:46pm On Mar 03, 2016
At first it was to be merged...then it will be broken down into four entities. Now its 30 entities.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, says the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will be unbundled into 30 competitive revenue generating subsidiaries in the coming week.

He made the disclosure at the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

It was the 25th in the series of lectures aimed at bringing key players in the oil and gas industry together to brainstorm on issues that will ensure profitability and economic advancement through oil and gas.

The focus was on global oil price and the use of technological advancements in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation.

Dr Kachikwu told the petroleum industry experts that an overhaul of the foremost government oil firm, NNPC was imminent, to ensure the return of profitability and stability in the sector.

In what the Minister said would be a major overhaul of the system, the positions of Group Executive and Managing Directors as existed in the NNPC would be replaced by Chief Executive Officers who will head each of the companies.

He said that the move, which would be concluded within the next seven days, would reposition the corporation to bring in huge profits which has been impossible to achieve in the past 15 years.

However, other experts at the lecture noted that for Nigeria to be able to get over its financially challenging times occasioned by the instability in the oil market, advanced technology in the sector is a must to reduce costs and maximize profit.

The experts said that several sub-sector practices must be ratified and enhanced, including joint venture structures, gas exploration, oil production and refining chain among others.

There is a freaking difference between a broken/unfulfilled promise and a lie. Stop thinking with your emotions, I'm sure you should know the difference.

OBj thinks chibok girls cannot be rescued, how does that translate to PMB lying that he would rescue chibok girls?

Thirdly, PMB did not mention 2 months, only certain idiots reported this; just the same way some idiots reported that PMB stated he would eliminate bokoharam in 3 months even though the video recording of the cnn interview was still up on the cnn website. Once again, try to reason with your brain not your heart.

Leave story...If someone makes a statement on your behalf, you counter it if you do not agree. Silence indicates acceptance. It's only when he won that we started hearing otherwise cos he needed the lies to win votes.

Unfulfilled promise? Are you planning to help the government fulfil what they have no interest in fulfilling.

Meanwhile, the man still has 3 years to find chibok girls and efforts are currently ongoing in that regard, so I still dont understand what you mean by lie here, except of course you need that dictionary more than everyone else.

Do you know what a promise means? Check your dictionary again. A promise is not meant to be broken because it is a commitment. Just as a man promises to be faithful to his wife during marriage. If he commits adultry, then the man is useless.

Same with our president...He made promises even when he was warned against it by Nigerians but he insisted. He is a liar and nothing more.

With regards to the Chibok girls Obasanjo said they will never be found and the president promised to rescue them two months after taking over power.

Keep deceiving yourself.
