Whether Nigerian politics is full of jingles or not, quite alot of people from different parts of Nigeria are attesting to a definate improvement in electricity supply in their area.

@ Blacksta, arent you Ghanaian? Why be so worried about what the Nigerian government is saying?
Lol - I am not from Ghana but Nigerian from the yoruba tribe

Amos Adamu is a reflection of the typical Nigerian - corrupt to the core - I am not surprised - I am dissappointed he was ban for years cause another replacement from Nigeria will be worse. It is very difficult to separate corruption and Nigerian

So, what will your bitterness and negativity solve, What exactly are you complaining about?
Your words above cut across several govts and doesn't make the least sense.

This is another foolish thread about who can whine loudest, not what we can do about our situation. Shame on you.
Beaf take it easy before you burst a blood vessel . My post was not anyway attacking your oga called Jonathan  - but more directed at the jingles that come out of our dodgy Nigerian politicians promising stuff that they can never achieve.  Mr Beaf i work for power generating company that has the 2nd largest clean coal fired plant in Western Europe with a maximum capacity of 4000 MW from  6 steam turbines.   It is  impossible for Nigeria to go from 4500 MW to 20,0000 MW in 4 years for one we cant afford it and 4 years is not realistic to build such plants  - i would be comfortable if he said Electricity for all by 2020

JP Morgan is a financial institution with international reach and clout, one that has the Prime Minister of a G8 country in its employ!. . . Charlie, do you really understand the term, international community?

MUMU!!!
You have proved my point - with the above shaded  - so we both agree that Tony blair did not to come to Nigeria as representative of the British government and definitely did not come for free.   If i have the right money  - I can get Tony Blair to come to your house ,have a drink and maybe wash your dishes.

BusinessMumu Nigerians - Power Generation: Jonathan Projects 20,000mw By 2014 by blacksta(op): 10:46pm On Nov 18, 2010
Abuja — President Goodluck Jonathan has projected that domestic power generation would rise to about 20,000 megawatts in the next four years.
Jonathan gave the projection at a meeting with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Chief Executive Officer of JP Morgan Bank of the US, Mr. Jamie Dimon, at the State House, Abuja.
The president said if his administration’s plans for the power sector were fully implemented, Nigeria should be generating enough power by April 2011.
He said by the end of 2014, there would be adequate electricity for the needs of large manufacturing industries some of which currently generate their own power.

Kilode?!:
I totally understand your frustration.

I saw your admonition on page 1 and I won't be shocked if you have to do it again.

While it may be true that Blair, JP Morgan or a foreign entity can support or take sides in the Political election of an African country, It should be obvious to any discerning observer or reader that such foreign parties will most likely not make their support open and clear in this manner -calling a press conference while declaring support for one candidate.

Blair is employed at JP Morgan as an Adviser, the more reason why it will be foolish for him to make a public statement that will show he supports a Nigerian candidate over another like some of the posters here are suggesting.

A lot of our NL folks don't read the contents of these threads before posting, talk less of applying some level of critical thinking to understand or critique what they've read. That is why we will always have Kings and Pawns in this political chess games.

The internet is such a "wonderful' thing cheesy

Dont get excited - This is another report from another paper

ABUJA — Former British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, Wednesday, declared that world leaders and the international community were fully behind the re-emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s next President come 2011.

He noted that the decision by JP Morgan, one of the world’s largest banks, to upgrade its representative office in Nigeria to a full-scale branch was a vote of confidence in Nigeria and the Jonathan administration.

SalisuOri:
No offence to you sir, but if you believe that tony blair is still relevant in UK politics you are mistaken. He is all about the money now hence his work for the big financial institutes as an "advisor". If Blair really wanted to endorse GEJ and help him keep power, he would've kept quiet and done his bidding silently. This is about chopping GEJ's money before they desert him one by one for a leader who the west can actually work with. GEJ is not on the same intelligence, charisma, experience level of Blair or any senior statesmen i.e they will not leave Nigeria's oil in GEJ's inexperienced hands knowing he and his "aides" will loot everything to the highest bidder.
Abeg let the guy continue to delude himself. Tony blair visit to Nigeria does not in anyway have any link to the present u.k government or appointed as an envoy. Tony Blair came on his accord because he was paid. Tony blair fee ranges from about £250,000 to £1,000,000 to attend any function. So Nigeria has wasted another £250,000 at the expense of the masses to a Mercenary like Tony Blair all in the effort to manipulate the Nigerian masses who might be think that the International community supports GEJ .
PoliticsRe: 2011 - International Community Support Gej - Blair by blacksta(m): 2:42pm On Nov 18, 2010
jay bee:
But the paper never stated that it was UK's endorsement. International community could be interpreted whichever way to suit the audience.
Love or hate him dude is still heavyweight
I dont deny that Tony Blair is not a heavyweight  - I am only confirming that tony blair got paid around £250,000 to visit Nigeria-  and if it is visit from a government envoy view then he would not be paid   - I believe it is all part of the plan of Jonathans camp to get an edge over others aspirants and manipulate the Nigerian public like he is some kind of Messiah to fix Nigeria
PoliticsRe: 2011 - International Community Support Gej - Blair by blacksta(m): 2:30pm On Nov 18, 2010
jay bee:
In what capacity was he speaking? As a keynote speaker (personal dealings) or official (Quartet Representative duties)
Tony blair is not an envoy of the british government definitely not when the Conservatives are trying to distance themselves for the economic mess labour has caused  hence he was visiting the Nigeria in the capacity of personal dealings
PoliticsRe: 2011 - International Community Support Gej - Blair by blacksta(m): 2:16pm On Nov 18, 2010
Beaf:
Its a beautiful and truly fundamental development that GEJ has been endorsed by the UK. It marks a shift of tectonic proportions in Nigeria's power balance.
Go GEJ! Na you biko!
See this mumu  - GEJ was not endorsed by the U.K but by Mercenary called Tony Blair and his fee alone was about £250,000 at the detriment of the masses .  This so called visit was part of the Jonathan camp to manipulate masses and sell some fake endorsement.  I only wish that Nigerians will shine their eyes.    I cry for  my Country

Tony Blair has come under attack from the Chinese media after he was allegedly paid $500,000 (£237,000) for a three-hour trip to a luxury Chinese housing estate.

Chinese state press questioned whether the former Prime Minister was worth the bumper pay cheque for his whirlwind visit, and claimed that he produced little more than clichés.

Mr Blair's spokesman in the UK has however hit back that it was "none of your business" how much the former Premier got paid.

Beaf and Co

What many of you dont realise is the fact that Tony Blair is now a Paid Piper after stepping down from office as a prime minster and his fee roughly £250,000 to a £1Million per engagement.  I am fully aware that the man has not travelled to Nigeria for nothing.  Tony has big expenses his mortgage alone for a house in Islingtion is £15,000,000 + Another £4,000,000 in buckinghamshire

I will be careful in listening to utter nonsense blair is saying, believe me if you pay me £50,000 i will say anything you want hear.

If you are an individual that have been offered this employment while others are in the sun you are a big part of the problem called Nigeria!!!

Why is the Police, SSS, NIA Customs and all other agencies conducting theirs simultaneously in other venues this would at least reduce the crowd in one place at a time.

I weep for my nation Nigeria

what the f.  Is this a football match or career event.  I bet most people here are looking at joining the ndlea as a means to get rich quick and are not interested in any drug enforcement  - Just imagine the level of bribe one will receive as an officer.  When i was younger you hear many stories how custom officers were making serious money from ports around country.  in fact a junior officer had built many houses around lagos in a relative short career as a custom officer.

Very sad.
