Kemi Badenoch unveils plan to deport 750,000 illegal migrants from UK in five years Kemi Badenoch, leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, has announced a proposed border policy intended to deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year.
Badenoch vowed to bar anyone entering the UK illegally from ever seeking asylum, setting a target of deporting 750,000 undocumented migrants within five years.
In videos on her official X handle on Sunday, Badenoch described the plan as the “toughest reforms Britain has ever seen to border laws and operations”.
“Successive governments have failed on immigration. Labour promised to smash the gangs,” she said.
“Instead, just a year, they deliver record small boat crossings, over 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 people in asylum hotels, billions wasted. It’s pure weakness.
“Britain needs a serious, credible plan and the backbone to deliver it. That’s Conservatives. That’s our borders plan.
“My message is clear: if you come here illegally, you will be deported. We will shut down the asylum hotel racket, save billions and take back control of Britain’s borders.”
The Conservative Party is holding its annual conference in Manchester and has rolled out a series of border policy proposals.
The party said the deportation plan would cover those already living in the UK illegally, future irregular arrivals, and foreign nationals convicted of offences more serious than minor traffic violations.
The Conservative Party plans to withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), ending a 75-year membership, to block asylum appeals.
Under the new proposals, the Home Office’s immigration enforcement unit would be rebranded as a “Removals Force”, and its budget would be doubled by an amount the conservatives say would be funded by shutting down asylum hotels.
They said migrants would be deported either to their home countries, where possible, or to safe third countries willing to accept them.
The party pledged to pursue return agreements with other nations and to threaten cuts to aid and visa access for those who refuse to cooperate.
The party also intends to narrow asylum eligibility to people persecuted by their own governments, excluding those fleeing war or restrictive laws on religion or sexuality.
The conservatives said they would abolish the immigration tribunal, shifting appeals to Home Office officials, and also proposed ending taxpayer-funded legal aid in immigration cases, arguing in their policy document that lawyers would be unnecessary since claims would be fairly assessed against the criteria.
Under Badenoch’s leadership, the Conservative Party has been struggling with weak poll numbers and the mounting threat from Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
“No World Cup, Health Comes First” — Youth-Led Protests Sweep Morocco Over $2 billion Stadium Plan For 2030
Morocco’s plan to build the world’s largest football stadium ahead of co-hosting the 2030 World Cup has sparked nationwide protests, with many accusing the government of misplaced priorities.
“I am protesting because I want my country to be better. I don’t want to leave Morocco, and I don’t want to resent my country for choosing to stay,” said 25-year-old communications manager Hajar Belhassan.
The youth-led movement, Gen Z 212, organized via Discord and TikTok, began demonstrations on 27 September across 10 cities under slogans like “No World Cup, health comes first” and “We want hospitals not football stadiums.”
Their demands include free quality education, affordable housing, better healthcare, job creation, and adopting English as the second language. Anger grew after eight women died in a poorly equipped maternity ward in Agadir last month, exposing deep flaws in Morocco’s healthcare system.
Police have arrested over 400 protesters, with three deaths reported after violent clashes in Lqliaa. “It breaks my heart to see young, educated and peaceful people faced with arbitrary arrests,” Ms. Belhassan said.
One protester, Hakim, 23, added: “My father had a stroke… If we didn’t have savings for private care, he would’ve died. What am I gaining from a country that is not providing healthcare or education?”
Authorities say the protests have injured 260 police officers and 20 demonstrators. Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has expressed openness to dialogue, but protesters insist they will continue until “concrete change” is seen.
While many Moroccans remain proud to host the World Cup, Ms. Belhassan summed up the movement’s sentiment: "We love football, it is in our blood. But we are missing the foundations. Sure, let’s build stadiums, but let’s also build our education and health systems.
I'm deeply sorry for your loss, but the whole thing sounds suspicious to me. I think the person behind this tragedy may have been someone she knew very well in her life
Are you sure that gay and Muslim are two parallel lines?
Adexvivacity: You should wonder why he had to attach Islam to it.... That's the new plan: They trained and use some Muslims then discarded them and tagged them terrorists, now they are attaching gay to the religion. We all know gay and Islam are 2 parallel lines. It is either he is a gay or a Muslim.

Netflix’s market value has taken a massive hit, reportedly slipping from about $514 billion on September 27 to $489 billion by October 3, a decline of nearly $25 billion. Reportedly, almost $7 billion vanished right after Elon Musk’s October 1 post urging followers to drop their subscriptions. According to Yahoo Finance, Netflix shares fell dramatically on Friday, marking their biggest weekly decline since April 4.
Over the past five trading days, the stock dropped nearly 5% as Tesla CEO Elon Musk continued urging his 227 million followers on X to cancel Netflix subscriptions. Musk criticised the streamer for allegedly promoting transgender messaging in kids’ shows.
Netflix shares drop as Elon Musk urges boycott
While the Nasdaq and overall markets climbed about 2% to record highs over the week, Netflix has lagged behind Big Tech peers like Amazon (AMZN) and Meta (META). On Thursday as well, Netflix shares opened lower, falling 1.2% before trimming losses to end 0.8% down, reaching $1,161 at 2:15 p.m. EDT, Forbes reported. The stock has dropped about 2.4% since Musk tweeted on Tuesday that he had cancelled his Netflix subscription. Over the past five trading days, Netflix shares have fallen 4.4%, even as the tech-heavy Nasdaq marks its fifth consecutive day of gains.
$15 BILLION in Netflix shares were liquidated after one tweet by Elon Musk. “Cancel Netflix.” He urged canceling the streaming subscription for the sake of children’s health, labelling it LGBT propaganda.
Some reports estimate that Netflix has lost over $15 billion in market value since Musk’s calls began. While conservative sources peg the number at around $25 billion. But regardless of the exact total, analysts agree the timing between Musk’s boycott call and the stock dip is hard to ignore.
Elon Musk’s campaign against Netflix Musk has repeatedly called for a boycott. On Tuesday, he wrote: “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.” The Billionaire CEO also reposted messages accusing Netflix of pushing a “transgender woke agenda.” These boycott comes amid the controversies surrounding the cancelled Netflix animated series, Dead End: Paranormal Park, directed by Hamish Steele. Conservative critics claimed the show promoted progressive ideas they disagreed with.
Musk’s post was in response to another user who said they were leaving Netflix after Steele criticised conservative activist Charlie Kirk in an apparent tweet. In it, Hamish reportedly criticised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s tweet mourning Charlie Kirk, calling Kirk a “random nazi,” according to the right-wing account Libs of TikTok. Dead End: Paranormal Park was cancelled in 2023 by the streamer.
Responding to the backlash, Hamish, speaking on Bluesky said: “I have mostly been very ok today and found it all quite funny, while really appreciating everyone who has reached out, but the extremely nasty weird [homophobic] and antisemitic emails have started rolling in and it is getting a little scary so I apologise if I take longer to respond to stuff.”
Netflix earnings outlook
Netflix is set to report its third-quarter earnings on October 21. In its last earnings report, Netflix beat Wall Street expectations, with third-quarter revenue projected at $11.53 billion and EPS of $6.87. The company raised its full-year revenue outlook to $44.8–$45.2 billion. Executives said ad sales are on pace to double to roughly $3 billion next year.

It was gathered that the deceased’s residence in Kubwa district along the Kubwa-Kaduna road was invaded on Friday night by the gunmen. They abducted him alongside his three children, and later dumped his body by the roadside.
Dr Ogbu’s death was confirmed by Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, via his Facebook page, noting that the corpse of the deceased was found on the roadside
He wrote, “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead.
“The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”
The late Ogbu was described as a dedicated professional. He leaves behind a nursing wife and grieving family members.
Dr. Ogbu’s family remains in distress as efforts continue to locate and rescue his three abducted children.
Colleagues and friends have expressed shock at the killing, describing it as a devastating loss to both his family and the veterinary profession.
The attack comes just a week after the killing of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, who died during a robbery in Katampe, another area of Abuja.
Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement. But investigations are reportedly underway.
When contacted, the FCT Police Command did not pick calls nor responded to WhatsApp messages.
“Over 10,000 Called To Bar In 3 Months” — NBA President Osigwe Slams Universities For Breaching Admission Quotas, Warns Law School Overwhelmed
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, SAN, has expressed concern over what he described as a growing crisis in the nation’s legal education system, blaming it on the disregard of admission quotas by several universities.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Osigwe noted that many law faculties were admitting students far above the limits set by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education. This, he said, had created an overflow of graduates seeking admission into the Nigerian Law School, a development that has overwhelmed the institution’s facilities and staff.
“Too many universities are running law programmes without regard for the quota system. The result is an endless backlog of graduates, and the Law School is under pressure to accommodate them,” he said.
Osigwe warned that the yearly surge in Law School admissions had led to a sharp rise in the number of lawyers being called to the Bar, stretching the system to its breaking point. He, however, cautioned against outright denial of access to graduates, urging reforms that would strike a balance between university intakes and the Law School’s limited capacity.
On the controversy surrounding invitation cards for Call to Bar ceremonies, the NBA president explained that the restriction to a single guest per graduate was necessary. According to him, the Body of Benchers had to consider space, safety, and crowd management, given the large number of candidates now admitted.
At the July Call to Bar exercise, 5,728 graduates were admitted in three days, while another 4,429 joined the roll of barristers between September 23 and 25. Osigwe stressed that allowing two guests per graduate, as was the case in earlier years, would overwhelm available facilities.
He acknowledged the inconvenience faced by families who would prefer to attend in larger numbers but maintained that the measure was unavoidable. “The hall has a limited capacity, and safety must remain a priority,” he said.
The Call to Bar ceremony is a statutory event conducted by the Body of Benchers to formally admit graduates of the Nigerian Law School as legal practitioners.
SEAN "Diddy" Combs broke down in tears as his children gave emotional statements during his sentencing at a Manhattan courthouse on Friday.
Combs faces up to 20 years in prison after this summer's shocking eight-week trial, but his six children addressed the courtroom and begged for a light sentence for the disgraced music mogul.
Combs became emotional when his children went to the podium to speak The disgraced music mogul, 55, was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution for his drug-fueled sex marathons on July 2.
But he was acquitted of his most serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking - meaning he avoided a much lengthier sentence.
As his children, Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, Jessie, and D’Lila pleaded for their dad to be released from jail on Friday, Combs was seen crying with his head in his hands.
His daughter, D'Lila, said through tears, “Please, your honor, please, give our family the chance to heal together, to rebuild, to change, to move forward, not as a headline but as human beings who are trying to do better," CNN reported.
Combs, wearing a white shirt and sweater, also sobbed when his legal team played a bizarre 12-minute-long documentary-style video highlighting Combs' past charity work and time with his family.
While his lawyers insist that Combs has made a positive impact on society, prosecutors argue that Combs has shown no remorse for his crimes and should be held accountable for them.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik also told the judge that Combs booked speaking engagements in Miami for next week, saying it showed he expected a lenient punishment and the move was the "height of hubris."
The judge joined Slavik in saying Combs has shown little remorse for his crimes, despite a four-letter apology letter to the judge and his legal team releasing a bizarre video to show his previous good deeds.
The rapper, who didn't take the stand in his defense during the trial, is set to address the court for the first time during the hearing.
The prosecution has recommended that Combs face 11 years behind bars - despite the maximum penalty for his crimes being 20 years. Combs' lawyers are asking for him to be handed a two-year sentence.
If agreed, he could be released later this month after already serving 13 months behind bars due to his being denied bail twice.
As he entered the courtroom Friday morning to hear his family and friends testify for leniency, he turned to the gallery and blew a kiss to his mom.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo spoke briefly to demand Sean "Diddy" Combs be released from jail, saying that Combs has been diagnosed with PTSD.
"We are asking for a lot, a 14-month sentence, and I want to give the court some reasons," Agnifilo said.
After the defense finished up, prosecutor Christy Slavik took the podium to give her rebuttal.
“Contrary to what the government said — and I’m going to say this blatantly — we do need something for him to do if he does get out today,” Donaldson said.
He added that Combs would stay busy “not with speaking engagements, but with teaching engagements" for the incarcerated people in South Florida.
Defense attorney Xavier Donaldson said that Sean "Diddy" Combs doesn't deserve a harsh sentence for his conviction of transportation to engage in prostitution.
"The government equates Sean Combs with a love-vendor," Donaldson told the court.
"I want to be clear Mr. Combs is not a love-vendor."
He continued, "A love-vendor is in the business of subjugating women, therefore he should not and cannot be considered a love-vendor."
A Miami pastor told Judge Arun Subramanian that jail time won't rehabilitate Sean "Diddy" Combs, but his release will.
“As Michael Jordan said, these sneakers are just sneakers — but when Sean does things he turns them into opportunities,” Reverend Gary Johnson said to the court.
“Sean needs an opportunity. I am asking you to give him to us and we won’t let you down.”
Defense attorney Brian Steel said that Sean "Diddy" Combs would move to Miami, Florida, if he's released from jail during the sentencing hearing.
Steel told the court that Combs is "in walking distance to his mother to care his mother" in Miami.
He said Combs "needs to repair and not be warehoused."
"He will be speaking openly about what it’s like to be incarcerated, to be on drugs, to lose a global business, to hurt the people you love, to take the happiness from your family," Steel said.
Lawyer defends speaking engagement After prosecutors said that Sean "Diddy" Combs booked a speaking engagement in Miami or next week, defense attorney Brian Steel addressed the planned event.
Steel said the event, scheduled for Monday, is not a "speaking engagement," but a "healing for Sean as well as the community."
Prosecutor Christy Slavik had slammed the move as "the height of hubris."
Sean "Diddy" Combs' defense attorney, Brian Steel, insisted that Combs is a good person who made mistakes because of his drug use.
“Please consider the following two reasons I believe we’re here: untreated trauma — great trauma in Sean’s life — and a ferocious drug addiction that got out of hand," Steel told the court.
He spoke about how Combs' father was killed and his uncle died from an overdose.

Former EFL assistant referee Gareth Viccars has been jailed for 13-and-a-half years for ‘praying on vulnerable young women’.
The 47-year-old from Shackleton Place, Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, was also given a further three-and-a-half years on extended licence by Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Viccars abused his victims over a period of several years, the court heard.
Viccars had previously admitted 16 counts of child sex offences against three 15-year-old girls between November 2021 and October 2024.
He was an assistant referee at the time of offending, working on League One matches alongside his job as an estate agent.
Once the allegations came to light he was suspended by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body in charge of refereeing across England’s top four tiers.
Handing down his sentence, Judge Caroline English said: “You did deliberately target these three young victims and you did so on account of their ages at the material time.
“I am therefore quite satisfied that in all three cases you preyed upon young women that were vulnerable.”
Prosecutor Charlotte Newell KC said that Viccars met his victims online through messaging platform Snapchat, telling them WhatsApp was ‘too risky’.
Ms Newell said of one victim: “She says effectively that she was lonely and she just wanted someone to talk to.
“He, it seems, was aware of that and abused it – turning the communication sexual.”
The prosecutor then read out a statement from another victim, saying: “I struggle to sleep, I have had nightmares.
“I would have nightmares about what happened – it kept replaying in my head. When I was awake, I would have flashbacks. I kept reliving it again and again. I feel I am never going to find happiness.”
Judge English told the victims: “You must not allow your lives to be blighted by seeking to shoulder any responsibility for what took place, that would be wholly wrong.
“You must allow all the responsibility to rest where it belongs and that is entirely with Mr Viccars.”
Following the sentencing the Metropolitan Police said they believed there may have been other victims and urged anyone to contact them with further information.
DCI Ross Morrell said Viccars had been ‘spamming hundreds of girls on Snapchat’.
The lead investigator added: “He began with a profile of ‘sorry I think I’ve added the wrong person’, and then he would go in to lie, manipulate them, and then go on to abuse them.
“If anyone thinks they’ve been a victim, then please contact 101, reference this appeal. You will be entitled to specialist care, specialist advice, and you will be believed.”
In other news, the PGMOL were forced to sack David Coote in December last year after a string of damning videos involving the Premier League referee were made public.
Coote was later charged with making an indecent image of a child - which he denied during a court hearing in September.
The 43-year-old's case is set to be heard at Nottingham Crown Court on October 9.

Additionally, medical innovations from startups like EarlySense and PillCam continue to benefit global healthcare, indirectly supported by billions in tech investments.
These developments reflect Israel's resilience, with 70-80% of startup capital coming from abroad and a "startup baby boom" expected to drive further growth.
Two brothers 10 and 17yrs old used an “Ashawo” key to break into their downstairs neighbor’s palor through the balcony, thinking she was asleep.
As they attempted to move the baby, the mother, Mrs. Jennifer, came out of the bathroom, saw them and screamed. Wondering how they got in, because the front door was still locked.
As neighbors gathered, the boys lied that they just wanted to play with the baby and see what Mrs. Jennifer’s house looked like.
When her husband got home, they involved soldiers and after a little retouching of the boys, they apologized and confessed that one “Brother” promised them ₦50k if they could bring him a live baby.
And it was the brother that gave them the “Ashawo” key. (Master key) they used to open the balcony doors.
That day the soldiers couldn’t capture the “brother”. But they detained the two boys, and their mother at the barracks. The next day, they caught the brother who sent them.
After hours of community begging. Jennifer’s husband released the 10yr old boy and their mom. But kept the 17yr old and the “Brother” in detention.
Now all tenants have changed their locks. The caretaker has given the boys 1week quit notice, because other tenants are afraid for their safety.
As for Mrs. Jennifer Munachi Micheal and her family, they’d be packing out, latest by January. On her dedication, she would say the whole story in church.
Jennifer’s own mom and the boys father have been begging. Her husband insists, he’s not done with the case. As he involved lawyers, the begging increased.
As for Jennifer and her husband, the case is just getting started.
Apparently, because Jennifer is a PCOS mom who’s been trying to conceive for a bit. Although she now has two kids.
So, left to her, she feels no remorse. That, they must face the consequences of their actions. And she’s just getting started, afterall it’s just day 3.
Scientists said Tuesday they have turned human skin cells into eggs and fertilised them with sperm in the lab for the first time — a breakthrough that is hoped to one day let infertile people have children.
The technology is still years away from potentially becoming available to aspiring parents, the US-led team of scientists warned.
But outside experts said the proof-of-concept research could eventually change the meaning of infertility, which affects one in six people worldwide.
If successful, the technology called in-vitro gametogenesis (IVG) would allow older women or women who lack eggs for other reasons to genetically reproduce, Paula Amato, the co-author of a new study announcing the achievement, told AFP.
“It also would allow same-sex couples to have a child genetically related to both partners,” said Amato, a researcher at the Oregon Health & Science University in the United States.
Scientists have been making significant advances in this field in recent years, with Japanese researchers announcing in July they had created mice with two biological fathers.
But the new study, published in the journal Nature Communications, marks a major advance by using DNA from humans, rather than mice.
The scientists first removed the nucleus from normal skin cells and transferred them into a donor egg which had its nucleus removed. This technique, called somatic cell nuclear transfer, was used to clone Dolly the sheep in 1996.
However a problem still had to be overcome: skin cells have 46 chromosomes, but eggs have 23.
The scientists managed to remove these extra chromosomes using a process they are calling “mitomeiosis”, which mimics how cells normally divide.
They created 82 developing eggs called oocytes, which were then fertilised by sperm via in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
After six days, less than nine percent of the embryos developed to the point that they could hypothetically be transferred to the uterus for a standard IVF process.
However the embryos displayed a range of abnormalities, and the experiment was ended.
While the nine-percent rate was low, the researchers noted that during natural reproduction only around a third of embryos make it to the IVF-ready “blastocyst” stage.
Amato estimated the technology was at least a decade away from becoming widely available.
“The biggest hurdle is trying to achieve genetically normal eggs with the correct number and complement of chromosomes,” she said.
Breakthrough
Ying Cheong, a reproductive medicine researcher at the UK’s University of Southampton, hailed the “exciting” breakthrough.
“For the first time, scientists have shown that DNA from ordinary body cells can be placed into an egg, activated, and made to halve its chromosomes, mimicking the special steps that normally create eggs and sperm,” she said.
“While this is still very early laboratory work, in the future it could transform how we understand infertility and miscarriage, and perhaps one day open the door to creating egg- or sperm-like cells for those who have no other options.”
Other researchers trying to create eggs in the lab are using a different technique. It involves reprogramming skin cells into what are called induced pluripotent stem cells — which have the potential to develop into any cell in the body — then turning those into eggs.
“It’s too early to tell which method will be more successful,” Amato said. “Either way, we are still many years away.”
The researchers followed existing US ethical guidelines regulating the use of embryos, the study said.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has stated that electricity generation on the National Grid has dropped to 3,200 megawatts (MW) due to the industrial action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
A statement by NISO said the disruptions by PENGASSAN triggered widespread gas shortages, reducing available generation from over 4,300 MW.
It, however, said it has deployed contingency measures to preserve the stability, security, and reliability of the National Grid through strategic ramp-ups from major hydro stations, contributing over 400 MW of additional output to cushion the shortfall from gas-fired plants.
The statement reads, “There are now real-time load adjustments to match available generation with system demand, while preventing a system frequency collapse. While continuous deployment of reactive power compensation and reserve monitoring to safeguard system integrity is strengthened.
“There is selective load shedding, applied as a last resort, to avert a system-wide collapse and ensure fair power distribution. These timely actions enabled the NISO NCC to minimize the impact of the labour-induced gas shortages, sustain operational security, and maintain supply to critical loads, thereby averting a nationwide blackout.”
The agency assured its commitment to proactive grid management, operational excellence, and the application of best-in-class practices to guarantee a secure and reliable electricity supply for the nation.
