In other words, the biggest companies with the largest market capitalisation and the necessary liquidity to survive sluggish economic growth are the ones being highlighted.

Hundreds of small to medium sized companies continue to go out of business and those that don't are operating well below their capacity utilisation.

TravelIbom Air Press Release On Unruly Passenger Incident by BlackViper(op): 12:04pm On Aug 11, 2025
PRESS STATEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UYO, 11 AUGUST 2025

INCIDENT INVOLVING AN UNRULY PASSENGER ON AUGUST 10, 2025

Ibom Air confirms that on Sunday, August 10, 2025, an incident occurred on board our Uyo–Lagos flight involving a passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, whose conduct posed a serious threat to the safety of our crew, passengers, and aircraft.

Shortly before take-off from Uyo, Ms. Emmanson was instructed in line with standard aviation safety procedures, to switch off her mobile phone. She bluntly refused to comply until the Pilot-in-Command made an announcement, after which a fellow passenger seated beside her took the phone and switched it off. This action prompted a verbal tirade from Ms. Emmanson. The situation was eventually calmed, and the flight departed as scheduled.

Upon arrival in Lagos, Ms. Emmanson waited for all other passengers to disembark and then proceeded to confront the Purser who had earlier instructed her. She walked up to the unsuspecting Purser, stepped on her, forcibly tore off her wig, removed her glasses and threw it to the floor, and used her footwear to assault her. She slapped her several times and when the other cabin crew member tried to intervene, she slapped her too. She then attempted to forcibly remove a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon, an act that could have damaged and grounded the aircraft.

By this time, the Pilot-in-Command had alerted airport security. Before security could arrive, the Purser as seen on the viral video on the internet, prevented the passenger from leaving the aircraft until security arrived. The arrival of Ibom Air Security personnel, did not deter the passenger as she attacked them as well, lashing out violently at the security personnel. She was then restrained and removed from the aircraft by force. Even after disembarking, she continued to assault Ibom Air security personnel, and even slapped the ground supervisor.

The passenger was removed from the ramp and taken into custody by FAAN security and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.

Ibom Air has since submitted a report on the incident to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and placed a travel restriction on Ms. Emmanson, who will no longer be permitted to fly on any of our aircraft.

Ibom Air reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of unruly or violent conduct that threatens the safety of passengers, crew, or equipment. Such behavior will be met with the strongest possible response, including legal action and permanent restriction from our services.

We commend the bravery and professionalism of our crew in handling this situation under extremely challenging circumstances, as well as the swift support from airport security and the Nigeria Police.

It will take effect from January 1st 2026 which means that in the year leading up to the 2027 General Election, any investigative journalist who uncovers any documentary evidence of diversions of public revenue to fund campaigns by politicians, will find himself or herself in hot water if they go public with their findings. RomanceAmerican Woman Goes Viral For Buying Her Boyfriend His Dream Car by BlackViper(op): 12:43pm On Aug 09, 2025
An American woman has taken the internet ablaze by surprising her boyfriend with his dream car.

Many on social media have been discussing the unusual gender role reversal in gifting luxury items, which contrasts with traditional expectations where men typically purchase such cars.

Research shows that the car is a 2025 Chevrolet Corvette.

A basic model of the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette costs about $70,000 or N 107,000,000 while more customised trims of the sports car will set you back by about $88,000 or N 134,000,000.

Online comment seem to indicate a sharp gender divide, with most men commending the gesture while women were critical of it.

Politics30 States Spent ₦11.75 Billion On Foreign Trips To Attract FDI With Zero Results by BlackViper(op): 12:10pm On Aug 08, 2025
Thirty Nigerian states spent a combined N11.75 billion on international trips and trainings in the first quarter of 2025 with no foreign direct investment to show for it, FIJ can report.

According to the Capital Importation Report published by the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday, all of the FDI that came into the country between January and March went to only seven locations (the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano and Ekiti).

FIJ analysed the first quarter financials of the states as documented in their respective budget performance reports. The travel expenses, when converted using the official exchange rate of N1,532.65 to a dollar, amounted to about $7.66 million
.

Osun State led the others for money spent on international journey in the first quarter of the year, with a total of N1.88 billion. Yobe followed with N1.53 billion and Bauchi recorded N977 million. Taraba and Adamawa also reported high figures. They expended N895 million and N894 million respectively.

Benue spent N710 million, Jigawa spent N577 million and Ebonyi recorded N414 million. Others like Delta, Edo and Bayelsa posted N214 million, N349 million, and N307 million respectively.

Even states with smaller expenditures — such as Gombe (N91 million), Imo (N15 million) and Katsina (N49 million) — received no foreign investment in return.

In total, 30 states accounted for nearly N12 billion in travel costs without results to show in terms of capital inflow.

In contrast, the FCT alone secured $3.05 billion in FDI. Lagos State received $2.56 billion, while Ogun and Oyo attracted $7.95 million and $7.81 million respectively.

Kaduna received $4.06 million, Kano got $117,000 and Ekiti secured the lowest among them with $4,250.

In the past, factors like insecurity, policy weakness and infrastructure deficits have been identified to discourage investment at the subnational level.

In 2025, insecurity in states remains a major barrier between these regions and foreign direct investment. Over 2,200 people were killed and nearly 900 abducted in the first half of 2025 alone, with deadly attacks in Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara making several regions high-risk areas for business.

PoliticsTELCOs Warn Of Service Disruption Because Of Blockage Of Diesel To Telecom Sites by BlackViper(op): 8:11am On Aug 08, 2025
The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has warned of potential nationwide disruptions to telecom services due to the blockage of diesel depots by members of petroleum products unions.

In a statement on Thursday, Gbenga Adebayo, chairman of ALTON, said the association received credible reports that members of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) had blocked access to diesel depots in Kaduna, Lagos, and Delta state.

He said the blockade has prevented the distribution of diesel to thousands of telecommunications sites operated by IHS Towers, a key telecom infrastructure provider and ALTON member.

The development is said to be a protest linked to ongoing investigations into allegations of diesel misappropriation made by IHS against two NOGASA-affiliated companies.

The ALTON said the act poses a serious threat to over 16,000 telecoms sites across the country, which support mobile and internet services as well as critical sectors such as banking, emergency response, and national security.

“While ALTON does not interfere in disputes between its members and third parties, we are gravely concerned about the wider implications of this action on national infrastructure and public safety,” Adebayo said.

“Telecom infrastructure is officially classified as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) under Nigerian law.

“Any disruption to its operation constitutes a serious threat to national security and economic stability and will attract strict legal consequences.”

The association appealed to the leadership of NUPENG and NOGASA to call their members to order and resolve the matter through lawful channels.

“We trust that NUPENG and NOGASA will continue to uphold the values of supporting national development without jeopardizing essential services,” Adebayo added.

The telecoms body also urged the office of the national security adviser (ONSA), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene to avoid a looming communications blackout.

The ALTON reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable telecom services nationwide but said disruptions of this nature hinder its members’ ability to deliver on that mandate.

A rape victim has encouraged other victims to report incidents of sexual assault after her attacker was jailed.

Segun 'Michael' Ogundipe, 33, of Tuffley Lane in Gloucester, raped and sexually assaulted her in 2022.

He was jailed for five years at Gloucester Crown Court on 21 July.

In a statement read out to the court, the victim said: "It doesn't matter if you feel ashamed or if you feel you are somehow to blame. You will be believed and supported."

She said to Ogundipe: "It is still crazy to me to think how your words and your actions have made me question my worth entirely.

"Some days what you did to me plays over and over in my head. What you did was vile and one of the worst things you could do to someone.

"I spent so long believing that I must have deserved what you did to me but I know now that you had no right to the rights of my body."

The court heard that in 2022, Mr Ogundipe met the woman at her place of work and asked her to go out for a drink with him.

She agreed and arranged to meet him after work the next day, texting him beforehand to make it clear that she was just getting to know him.

The following evening, Mr Ogundipe picked the woman up in his car and they went to a bar.

Throughout the course of the night Mr Ogundipe began to sexualise the conversation, which she said made her feel uncomfortable.

Deportation order

The 33-year-old then suggested he drive them to a different location, but stopped at his house saying he needed to pick something up.

The victim needed to use the toilet and after she left the bathroom, Ogundipe sexually assaulted her and raped her.

After the attack he drove towards Cheltenham with the victim, but was pulled over by police after they saw him driving erratically.

The victim was able to get out of the car and tell officers he had raped her.

Ogundipe was arrested on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he was subsequently charged with two counts of sexual assault, assault by penetration and rape.

He denied the offences but was found guilty at trial.

Ogundipe, who was born in Nigera, faces a deportation order when he is released, after coming to the UK to study in 2021.

Hahaha😂So MTN has now become a juggernaut in Nigeria's telecom service sector to the point where newer industry entrants like 9mobile are now paying them roaming services to use their infrastructure

No wonder 9mobile data tariffs are so expensive. They're obviously dumping the cost of paying for the roaming services on their customers/subcribers

I guess the hey days of telcos gradually developing and building up their own critical infrastructure is officially over now

With the way things are going now, I won't be surprised if GLO also has to start paying MTN roaming fees, which would be a huge embarrassment to the country.
TV/MoviesRe: Lawyer Gives NBC 30-day Ultimatum To Ban Bbnaija Or Face Legal Action by BlackViper(op): 1:56am On Aug 07, 2025
I'm usually not a fan of “moral” crusades and other manifestations of moral posturing by hypocritical, “Holier than thou” Nigerians because I feel that there are far greater types of immorality confronting this country than whether or not the hemline of a young lady's skirt crosses her knees, or whether that dress she's wearing accentuates her curves or whether a young man has dreadlocks and is wearing ripped jeans.

I always find it amusing when religious leaders denounce "immoral dressing", then invite politicians to the pulpit to address congregations. These religious leaders act as if corruption, embezzlement and nepotism are not acts of gross immorality and politicians have not been the actual heavyweight champions of immorality in Nigeria right from the beginning. Think about it. Have we not been having greedy, incompetent politcal buffoons in Nigeria since 1960, long before anyone even knew what a mini skirt was?

But all the same, I still have an axe to grind with BBN simply because I believe the monetary reward system attached to it is obscenely inflated relative to what it projects. Imagine giving 150 million naira as a reward to someone for simply idling around, gossiping, eating, drinking, fornicating etc for 90 days.

Meanwhile a 1st class graduate will be lucky to get N100,000 during his graduation ceremony and many of them don't even get that much.
TV/MoviesLawyer Gives NBC 30-day Ultimatum To Ban Bbnaija Or Face Legal Action by BlackViper(op): 1:54am On Aug 07, 2025
Maduabuchi Idam, a human rights lawyer, has demanded that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) either ban or impose strict regulations on Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), citing concerns over its “obscene, indecent, and profane content”.

In a letter recently shared on Facebook, Idam accused the show organisers of undermining public morality and questioned the NBC’s silence despite its history of censoring less explicit content in music videos.

The lawyer also expressed dismay over the show’s “unfiltered broadcast of explicit scenes,” which he argued are easily accessible to underage viewers despite its 18+ rating.

Concerned about the brazen obscenity and profane contents showcased by the television program described as “Big Brother Naija” which is also freely broadcasted on the social media by the host company, I am constrained as a Nigerian citizen and a public interest lawyer to write this letter demanding the immediate ban or proper regulation of the program in order to have same consumed exclusively by the target audience,” the post reads.

“The program which is currently on the second week of its 10th edition, has been characterised with the brazen exhibition of real-time obscene and pornographic actions, thereby questioning the position of the NBC regarding its regulatory mandate to such television broadcasts.

“…Therefore, it becomes perplexing to find that the NBC has remained mute or unconcerned in the face of the program, Big Brother Naija, despite its obvious explicit content.”

Idam, while acknowledging the show’s adult rating, argued that its widespread accessibility, both on television and social media, makes it a danger to public decency.

The lawyer also urged the NBC to enforce stricter measures to ensure the show is “exclusively reserved for its target audience,” preventing accidental exposure to minors or unwilling viewers.

“I write, not as one who is unaware of the fact that the program is rated 18 (which presupposes that the content is offered only for adults), but as a Nigerian who genuinely shares the concern of several other Nigerians about the danger that such a program poses to public decency and morality,” he added.

“Therefore, I demand that the NBC should (if not totally ban) adequately restrict the program, to be exclusively reserved for its target audience such that underage children or uninterested members of the public would not accidentally come in contact with it either on television or social media.”

The lawyer issued a 30-day ultimatum to the NBC, demanding that the show be restricted to “highly regulated adult-only platforms” and that its explicit content be barred from social media promotion.

“I am also outraged that the program is not only aired on national TV, but its profane content is also often proudly shared on the verified social media handles of the host company, in total disregard to public morality and decency,” he wrote.

“The regulation of the “Big Brother Naija” program which neither offers educative, artistic, scientific nor literary value has become necessary, in order to preserve and salvage the wreckage of our dear society, which is already challenged by several vices such as insecurity amongst others; being the aftermath of the unregulated social activities as the “Big Brother Naija” programs whose negative effect on the moral sensibilities of the Nigerian public cannot be underestimated.

“The NBC is by this letter urged to within thirty (30) days, regulate the “Big Brother Naija” program by permitting it only to be aired on highly restricted channels, reversed for its target audience and also prohibiting the sharing or decimination of the explicit contents by the host company, on social media.

“Take notice that in the event of failure to comply with the demand herein, I shall be constrained to seek necessary redress in the Court of competent jurisdiction.”

Idam’s petition follows recent controversies surrounding the show, particularly after housemates Kayikunmi and Isabella shared a steamy moment during a live broadcast.

The BBNaija Season 10 kicked off on July 28 with a two-day opening ceremony.

This year’s winner will take home a staggering N150 million, the highest grand prize in the show’s history since its debut in 2006.

PoliticsFIRS Can Now Monitor All Online Financial Transactions In Real-time by BlackViper(op): 5:39pm On Aug 06, 2025
Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has launched a real-time transaction monitoring portal aimed at tightening oversight of Value Added Tax (VAT) collections across the country’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

The new system, dubbed the Transaction Monitoring System, mandates integration from banks, fintechs, and payment service providers, granting the tax agency visibility into VAT-eligible electronic payments. While the portal does not directly collect taxes, it enables FIRS to assess taxpayer thresholds, reconcile invoices, and audit declarations against bank records.

This system represents a transformative leap in transaction visibility,” said FIRS Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji. “By monitoring VAT-eligible activities in real time, we are fostering a fair and transparent digital marketplace for all stakeholders.”

The rollout follows recent legislation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration that empowers FIRS to automate tax processes. Although the new laws take effect in January 2026, the is leveraging existing provisions to begin implementation with a 30-day notice to taxpayers.

Financial institutions are required to register on the portal and integrate via APIs. Payment service providers must submit VAT data for each transaction, whether collected at checkout or calculated post-payment. Transactions above ₦5 million ($3,265) are prioritised, with encryption and AI-driven validation ensuring data integrity.

The move underscores Nigeria’s push to modernise tax administration and plug revenue leakages in a digital-first economy that has outpaced traditional compliance mechanisms.

CrimeNigerian In France Handed Over To US Over Cybercrimes, $2.5 Million Tax Fraud by BlackViper(op): 7:58am On Aug 06, 2025
A Nigerian man based in France, Chukwuemeka Amachukwu, has been handed over to the United States to face multiple charges, including computer hacking, fraud, and identity theft.

The 39-year-old was arrested in France and transferred to New York on Monday after a formal request by US authorities.

According to a press release from the US Department of Justice on Tuesday, Amachukwu and several co-conspirators based in Nigeria were involved in hacking US tax preparation firms.

They allegedly stole customers’ personal information and used it to file fake tax returns.

The scheme reportedly led to the theft of at least $2.5 million in refunds from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“Amachukwu also allegedly took part in a separate fraud scheme that promised his victims valuable investments that did not in fact exist,” said US Attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York.

He is also accused of using stolen identities to file fake claims with the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program, which allegedly earned him another $819,000 in illegal payouts.

If convicted, Amachukwu could face several decades in prison. His charges include conspiracy to commit computer intrusions, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and identity theft.

InvestmentTesla CEO Elon Musk Receives $29 Billion Pay Package by BlackViper(op): 4:59am On Aug 06, 2025
Tesla gave Elon Musk a stock grant of $29 billion on Monday as a reward for years of “transformative and unprecedented” growth despite a recent foray into right-wing politics that has hurt its sales, profits and its stock price.

In giving its billionaire CEO 96 million in restricted shares, the electric car company noted that Musk hasn’t been paid in years because his 2018 compensation package has been rejected by a Delaware court. The award comes eight months after a judge revoked the 2018 pay package a second time. Tesla has appealed the ruling.

Tesla on Monday called the grant a “first step, good faith” way of retaining Musk and keeping him focused, citing his leadership of SpaceX, xAI and other companies. Musk said recently that he needed more shares and control so he couldn’t be ousted by shareholder activists.

“Rewarding Elon for what he has done and continues to do for Tesla is the right thing to do,” the company said in a regulatory filing, citing an increase of $735 billion in Tesla’s value on the stock market since 2018.

Tesla shares have plunged 25% this year largely due to blowback over Musk’s affiliation with President Donald Trump. But Tesla also faces intensifying competition from both the big Detroit automakers, and from China.

In its most recent quarter, Tesla reported that quarterly profits plunged from $1.39 billion to $409 million. Revenue also fell and the company fell short of even the lowered expectations on Wall Street.

Investors have grown increasingly worried about the trajectory of the company after Musk had spent so much time in Washington this year, becoming one of the most prominent officials in the Trump administration in its bid to slash the size of the U.S. government.

The electric vehicle maker said in the regulatory filing that Musk must first pay Tesla $23.34 per share of restricted stock that vests, which is equal to the exercise price per share of the 2018 pay package.

In December Delaware Chancellor Kathleen St. Jude McCormick reaffirmed her earlier ruling that Tesla must revoke Musk’s multibillion-dollar pay package. She found that Musk engineered the landmark pay package in sham negotiations with directors who were not independent.

The rulings came in a lawsuit filed by a Tesla stockholder who challenged Musk’s 2018 compensation package.

That pay package carried a potential maximum value of about $56 billion, but that sum has fluctuated over the years based on Tesla’s stock price.

Musk appealed the order in March. A month later Tesla said in a regulatory filing that it was creating a special committee to look at Musk’s compensation as CEO.

Musk has been one of the richest people in the world for several years.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives feels Musk’s stock award may alleviate some Tesla shareholder concerns.

“We believe this grant will now keep Musk as CEO of Tesla at least until 2030 and removes an overhang on the stock,” Ives wrote in a client note. “Musk remains Tesla’s big asset and this comp issue has been a constant concern of shareholders once the Delaware soap opera began.”

Under pressure from shareholders last month, Tesla scheduled an annual shareholders meeting for November to comply with Texas state law.

A group of more than 20 Tesla shareholders, which have watched Tesla shares plummet, said in a letter to the company that it needed to at least provide public notice of the annual meeting.

Tesla’s stock rose nearly 2% in midday trading.

PoliticsHerdsmen Kill Nine Persons Including Police Officer In Fresh Benue Attacks by BlackViper(op): 9:57pm On Aug 05, 2025
At least nine people, including a police officer, have reportedly been killed in a series of coordinated attacks by suspected armed herders in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

The deadly assaults, said to have started on Friday and continued through Tuesday, targeted four different communities in the troubled local government area.

Residents identified the affected villages to include Okwutanobe, Okpokpolo, Olegagbani, and Ikpele.

Local sources alleged that the attackers often crossed into Benue from neighbouring Kogi State to carry out raids before retreating.

A resident, who identified himself simply as Odenyi, was quoted as saying, “The attacks started last Friday at Okwutanobe where two people were killed.

“On Saturday, they attacked Okpokpolo and killed one person. On Monday, the armed herders invaded Olegagbani and killed one person.

“Today (Tuesday), they attacked Ikpele, where they killed one police officer and four people.”

The Chairman of the Agatu Local Government Area, James Melvin, who also confirmed the killings, stated that a total of nine lives were lost across the four communities within the space of three days.

“It’s true. I can confirm to you that four people were killed in Okwutanobe, Okpokpolo and Olegagbani, while five people, including a police officer, were killed in Ikpele today,” Melvin was quoted as saying.

The council boss said the attacks might be reprisals linked to allegations of cattle rustling made by herders in the area.

“We condemn these attacks, and I think it was a reprisal to their earlier report of cattle rustling in Agatu communities,” he said.

“We are appealing to them to give the government time to investigate the alleged rustling instead of taking the law into their own hands.”

Meanwhile, just two days prior to the fresh wave of violence, the Benue State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) had raised alarm over the alleged rustling of approximately 340 cattle in Agatu during the month of July.

The association’s secretary, Ibrahim Galma, claimed criminal elements within the local government area were responsible for the theft.

Melvin further lamented that the poor road infrastructure in Agatu hampers swift response by security forces.

“You know the roads in Agatu are bad. Even when the security men receive a distress call, it can take them up to four hours to navigate some areas due to the bad terrain, so the armed herders would wreak havoc and leave,” he explained.

However, the Benue State Police Command has not released an official statement about the attacks.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Catherine Udeme Edet, said she had not yet received official information about the latest killings.

Benue State, particularly Agatu and other border LGAs, has endured recurrent attacks by suspected herdsmen over the years.

In June, over 200 people were massacred in Yelwata community in an overnight attack by suspected armed herdsmen.

In April 2024, at least 25 people were killed in coordinated raids on Ugbobi and Odugbeho communities in Agatu.

Similarly, earlier in March, another series of attacks across Apa and Otukpo LGAs left dozens dead and hundreds displaced.

The state government has repeatedly called on the federal authorities to intervene, citing the heavy toll the violence has taken on rural communities and food production.

Despite ongoing military operations in parts of the Middle Belt under the Operation Whirl Stroke initiative, residents continue to express concern over the frequency and impunity of the attacks.

As tension mounts in Agatu and neighbouring areas, local leaders and civil society groups have renewed calls for improved security deployment, faster response times, and long-term conflict resolution strategies, particularly around grazing and land use disputes between farmers and herders.

CrimeWhite South African Kills 2 Black Women, Feeds Their Bodies To Pigs by BlackViper(op): 6:09am On Aug 05, 2025
A white South African farm worker accused of killing two black women says he was forced to feed their bodies to pigs, according to lawyers.

Adrian de Wet is one of three men facing murder charges after Maria Makgato, 45, and Lucia Ndlovu, 34, were killed while allegedly looking for food on a farm near Polokwane in South Africa's northern Limpopo province last year.

Their bodies were then alleged to have been given to pigs in an apparent attempt to dispose of the evidence.

Mr De Wet, 20, turned state witness when the trial started on Monday and says farm owner Zachariah Johannes Olivier shot and killed the two women.

Ms Makgato and Ms Ndlovu were searching for soon-to-expire dairy products which had been left for pigs when they were killed.

Mr De Wet, a supervisor on the farm, will testify that he was under duress when he was forced to throw their bodies into the pig enclosure, according to both the prosecution and his lawyer.

If the court accepts his testimony, all charges against him will be dropped.

The case has sparked outrage across South Africa, exacerbating racial tensions in the country.

Such tension is especially rife in rural areas, despite the end of the racist system of apartheid more than 30 years ago. Most private farmland remains in the hands of the white minority, while most farm workers are black and poorly paid, fuelling resentment among the black population, while many white farmers complain of high crime rates.

William Musora, 50, another farm worker, is the third accused. He and Mr Olivier, 60, are yet to enter a plea and remain behind bars.

The three men also face charges of attempted murder for shooting at Ms Ndlovu's husband, who was with the women at the farm - as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and obstructing justice for allegedly dumping the bodies in the pig enclosure in an attempt to conceal evidence.

Mr Musora, a Zimbabwean national, faces an additional charge under South Africa's Immigration Act over his status as an illegal immigrant.

The Limpopo High Court was packed with supporters and relatives of the victims ahead of proceedings. Also present was Mr Olivier's wife, who was seated in the front row of the public gallery and could be seen wiping away tears.

Members of opposition party Economic Freedom Fighters, which has previously called for the farm to be shut down, were also present in the courtroom.

The trial was postponed to next week.

Foreign AffairsLuiza Rozova: Meet Vladimir Putin's "Secret Daughter" He Fathered With Cleaner by BlackViper(op): 5:20am On Aug 05, 2025
VLADIMIR Putin's rumoured secret daughter has broken her silence on the Russian dictator for the first time with cryptic social media posts.

Elizaveta Krivonogikh, 22, also known as Luiza Rozova, hinted at her "father" as she ranted about a man who "destroyed" her life and revealed her feelings about Russia's war in Ukraine.

Luiza, an art school graduate living in Paris, alluded to "the man who took millions of lives and destroyed mine" - seemingly a bitter rebuke of her reported father.

The posts do not explicitly name Putin, but in the context of widespread reports about her father's identity can be understood as a direct dig at the tyrant.

In another post, she wrote: “It’s liberating to be able to show my face to the world again.

"It reminds me of who I am and who destroyed my life," reports Bild, which has access to the woman's private Telegram channel "Art of Luiza".

On her Instagram account, Luiza had been ensuring to hide her face - but lately she has shared full photos of herself again.

She does not specify when or where the photos were taken, but the most recent is in the Russian café chain "Surf Coffee".

Luiza was born on March 3, 2003, in St Petersburg and is believed to be the child of an affair between Putin and his former cleaner Svetlana Krivonogich.

Claims about the identity of her father were first made public by the Kremlin-critical investigative project "Proekt" back in 2020.

Her mother reportedly became very wealthy in the wake of her birth - fuelling speculation that the money had come from Putin in order to buy her silence.

Luiza previously had visible social media accounts in Russia, which showed her whizzing around the world in private jets, DJing in exclusive clubs and wearing designer gear.

Intelligence chief says Putin 'getting more sickly by the day' as tyrant wains in power

But then, shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine, her account was suddenly deleted.

She has since moved to Paris, and graduated from the ICART School of Cultural and Art Management in June 2024.

After leaving Russia, she lamented on Telegram: "I can't make an extra lap around my beloved St. Petersburg.

"I can't visit my favourite places and establishments."

Lately her digital footprint has re-emerged with a much-changed image.

Who is Luiza Rozova?

LUIZA Rozova, born Elizaveta Krivonogikh, is the 22-year-old rumoured illegitimate daughter of Vladimir Putin.

She is allegedly the love child from an affair between the dictator and his former cleaner, Svetlana Krivonogikh

These claims were first made by the Kremlin-critical investigative project "Proekt" back in 2020.

She often used to share details of her lavish life on Instagram, until the page was suddenly taken down around the time of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Luiza is reported to have moved to Paris and graduated from a course at the ICART School of Cultural and Art Management in June 2024.

She posts in a private Telegram channel called "Art of Luiza", where she has made allusions to her reported father.

She seems to have become more political and speaks openly against the war in Ukraine - and now denounces luxury.

Reports say she is working at L Galerie in Belleville and Espace Albatros in Montreuil - both art galleries in Paris which host anti-war exhibitions.

She has also adopted the name Elizaveta Rudnova - apparently after Oleg Rudnov, one of Putin's late cronies, in an attempt to conceal her true identity.

Her role as gallery manager is said to include helping to organise shows and make videos.

But Luiza's attempt to slot into dissident circles in Paris has not gone without resistance.

Artist Nastya Rodionova, who fled Russia in 2022, issued a furious statement and cut her ties with the two galleries Luiza is associated with.

In a Facebook post, she wrote: “It’s important to say that I believe in the presumption of innocence and that children are not responsible for the crimes of their parents.

“But with the war reaching its heights it is inadmissible to allow a person who comes from a family of beneficiaries of [Putin’s] regime to come into confrontation with the victims of that regime.

“We need to know who we are working with and decide whether we are ready for that. My personal answer in this case is no.”

Luiza has defended her position and wrote: "Am I really responsible for the activities of my family, who can't even hear me?"

Dmitry Dolinsky, director of L Association which controls Studio Albatros and L Galerie, backed Luiza's involvement.

He told The Times: “She looks like Putin but so do 100,000 other people. I haven’t seen a DNA test.”

Other insiders backed her, calling her a “cultured person” and “excellent worker”.

But Rodionova hit back, insisting that victims of the war shouldn’t be forced to share space with anyone tied to the regime – alleged daughter or not.

Rudnova's mother, Svetlana Krivonogikh, was sanctioned by the UK in 2023 and linked to Putin's inner circle by independent Russian media.

PoliticsFIJ: Nigerian Who Worked In Chinese Cybercrime Ring Spills Secrets by BlackViper(op): 4:13am On Aug 04, 2025
INTERVIEW: Nigerian Who Worked for Chinese Cybercrime Ring in Lagos Describes Systemic Fraud Operations, Hints at EFCC's Complicity

On December 10, 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 792 suspects for their involvement in cryptocurrency investment fraud and romance scams at their hideout, known as Big Leaf Building, on No. 7, Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

According to the EFCC, it arrested 148 Chinese nationals, 40 Filipinos, two Kazakhtans, one Pakistani, one Indonesian and some Nigerians. The EFCC said that the foreign nationals used the facility, which could easily be mistaken for the corporate headquarters of a financial establishment, to train their Nigerian accomplices on how to initiate romance and investment scams, and also used the identities of their Nigerian accomplices to perpetrate their criminal activities. FIJ spoke with a 26-year-old Nigerian who worked for these foreign nationals.

How did you get in?

So, one day I was on my own when a friend called me and told me he had found a job I could do. He said it involved working with people, and since he didn’t know much about it but knew I had some experience in trading cryptocurrency and forex, he reached out to me. He mentioned that if I got into the job, he could also get in through me.

I was interested, so I asked how much the pay was. He said it wasn’t certain yet, adding that I’d have to go to the company, go through an interview process, and get picked. I agreed, and the next day I went there.

What was the interview and onboarding process like?

The office was located across the street. It was on No.7, Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island. When I arrived there on November 14, I had my CV ready. There were about five of us who showed up around the same time. They gave us some snacks, and after a while, the department head, a Chinese man who was in charge, came in. He brought an interpreter so we could communicate, and he spoke to each of us.

He asked basic questions: Could we write? Could we speak good English? We answered yes. Then he asked about our previous jobs and our salary expectations. After that, he handed us a white sheet of paper listing the salary, bonuses, and other details. He explained how the job would work — we’d be paid based on daily performances, and if we stayed in the hostel they provided, N24,000 would be deducted from our salary for accommodation. The salary was N280,000 and the bonus was N40,000.

In reality, I worked from November 14 to 30 and was only paid N140,000. They didn’t pay me for my work in December due to the issues that arose later with the EFCC.

What was the job like?

Most of us ended up staying in the hostel. It was a large building at the front of the compound. Many of us started the job without fully knowing what was going on but as time went by, some of us started seeing it as fraud.

On the first and second days, they trained us on how to use their system. Then they gave us formats to go through and asked if we understood. Most people didn’t. But one of the guys we met there took the time to explain things clearly. He walked us through everything: how to get clients, how to build Instagram and Facebook accounts, and all the practical tasks of getting money out of the clients.

Our role was simply to follow instructions and deliver results not to ask too many questions. Once we completed our tasks and the payment process, we handed everything over.

What can you say about the work environment?

At first, the job was going well. The environment was professional, and the Chinese staff seemed focused on their business. I think they were working under someone because they had people they reported to. They expected us to be just as focused, but many the Nigerians made it difficult.

Some started misbehaving. They stole equipment, fought and caused trouble. As a result, the management became stricter. For example, people would work for just four or five days, get paid, and then quit. Some would go to another department and re-apply, trying to get paid again. But once the bosses realised this, they found a way to stop it.

They started issuing ID cards and recording everyone. Once your details were registered with one department, you couldn’t switch or re-apply elsewhere. This made things more controlled, but also limited our opportunities.

How were you paid?

Despite the challenges, they tried to fix issues as they came up. After the first month, they paid us. Not everyone was paid at the same time. They paid me on December 2. After that, they promised to pay their staff at the end of every month.

My shift was from 4 pm to 4 am. Others worked from 6 pm to 6 am or 8 am to 8 pm. There were food vendors around, even at night, and we were allowed to go outside to buy food. In fact, more vendors started showing up at night because of us. It was clear we were bringing business to the area. Everything seemed stable and safe.

Tell us about the EFCC raid

On December 10, the EFCC raided the place. I was asleep when the message came but I was not in the building. People were shouting that the EFCC was around.

This wasn’t the first time we’d heard such a warning. The first time, everyone went to the office, but the EFCC wasn’t actually there. So, we didn’t take it seriously at first. But this time, it was real.

What some other staff members and I heard was that the EFCC raided the company because they refused to bribe the EFCC. The reason was that they had bribed the EFCC several times and could not afford to pay what they were requesting. After the EFCC raid, they couldn’t pay us for the next eight days. People started complaining, demanding their salaries, but the management had disappeared. At one point, they even left our group chat, leaving us completely on our own.

Were you aware that what you were doing was fraud?

They provided all the materials we needed to work. They gave us pictures and assigned us specific tasks to carry out. I think the goal was to promote a system or platform, possibly related to cryptocurrency, using social media.

We worked on desktop computers, and they provided us with enough data to run the operations. Our job was to edit content, choose the right models (profiles) to use, and then post captions along with relevant hashtags to attract attention.

The target audience was primarily from the USA as the entire operation was focused on American victims.

Before starting the actual scamming process, there was a training period. During this time, we were taught how to pose as legitimate investors or professionals involved in jobs and investment opportunities.

The idea was to get people to invest in a crypto company — they even had a name for it, something like “Crypto Company Lady” or similar, though I can’t remember the exact name now.

Once a connection was made and the victim showed interest, we would then complete the initial setup. If the handler instructed us to move to a new target or “game”, we’d do so — always using the company name and following a well-organised system.

What happened after the EFCC raid?

Before the raid, they had actually planned to move us to a new location. They had bought another house nearby and were renovating it to provide better water and living conditions. But the EFCC incident disrupted everything.

After the raid, we were all stranded. Many of us had spent all our money to get there. It was then that I realised how far people had come just for this job. And when the crisis hit, most couldn’t go back home because they had no money left.

Everything from inside the building, all the machines, equipment, and belongings, was being moved out. They used the same white buses that used to shuttle us from the hostel to the company. Now, those buses were being loaded with the items and the Chinese people were using them to transport everything away.

I don’t know where they took it, or what the reason was behind the move. I didn’t hear any official explanation or argument.

How did you escape?

That day, I was lucky not to be around. Because I worked at night, I could not have been in the building.

What do you know about the company?

From what I understand, they have a main company based in China and it’s staffed only by Chinese people.

That’s why they came to Nigeria: because of the language barrier. They believed that if Nigerians worked for them, communication with English-speaking clients would be easier, and the job would run more smoothly.

When I was working with them, one of the managers even said that people in China weren’t performing better than we were. It just felt like we were catching up in terms of speed and efficiency. But the company’s operation in China was much bigger and more advanced than the setup we had here.

Even after everything fell apart, one of the bosses promised to take us to China to work directly for them there. He said he would handle everything, our travel, documentation, even passports, and that once we started working, we’d receive a monthly salary. That was the information they shared with us.

Foreign AffairsAmerican Couple Welcomes World’s ‘oldest Baby’ Born From Embryo Frozen In 1994 by BlackViper(op): 3:41am On Aug 04, 2025
A boy born in Ohio from an embryo that was frozen for over three decades has reportedly set a new world record as the world's "oldest baby".

Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was born to parents Lindsey and Tim Pierce on 26 July, about 31 years after his embryo was frozen.

After trying for seven years to conceive a baby, the couple from London, Ohio, chose to adopt an embryo created through IVF in 1994 by Linda Archerd, now 62 years old, and her then-husband.

"We had a rough birth, but we are both doing well now,” Lindsey Pierce told MIT Technology Review. "He is so chill. We are in awe that we have this precious baby!"

Ms Pierce said they didn't "go into it thinking we would break any records. We just wanted a baby".

The newborn is believed to have broken the record for the “oldest” baby, which was previously held by twins born in 2022 from embryos frozen in 1992.

She said her family and church family think “it’s like something from a sci-fi movie”.

Ms Archerd created four embryos, out of which one became her daughter, now aged 30, and three others were left in storage.

Despite her separation from her husband, Ms Archerd was adamant about not discarding the embryos, donating them for research, or anonymously giving them to another family. She said it was essential for her to remain involved in the process, as the child would be a biological sibling to her adult daughter.

“It’s my DNA; it came from me … and [it’s] my daughter’s sibling,” she told the MIT Technological Review.

She reportedly spent thousands of dollars annually on storage until she discovered Nightlight Christian Adoptions – a faith-based agency that runs the Snowflakes program. The initiative allows embryo donors to select the adoptive couple after taking into account preferences such as religion, race, and nationality.

Ms Archerd said she requested a married, Caucasian, Christian couple based in the US. "I didn’t want to go out of the country," she added.

“It's been pretty surreal. It’s hard to even believe," said Ms Archerd, who is yet to meet the baby.
