I've been telling them this since forever! The advantages of platforms like Trading212 over chaka or whatever is boundless. This is one of many IPO's poised to launch this year & i think Airbnb are a part of them. you won't see these on chaka & co for a while. JFROG was another IPO today but Snowflake outshined them. You're not making any case other than simply saying that they can't operate or run at the same level as foreign platforms because "inferiority complex" won't wound you in this country. If you don't understand the process of starting or owning a brokerage platform in Nigeria i can break it down for you & it's something someone with a sizable startup cash & 3-4 developers can do. Bamboo, trove & co do not own or even operate a single share that they offer on the platform, those shares are actually offered by a 'third party' brokerage firm in the US or elsewhere for a fee. All the company needs to do is buy or build their app then integrate the API & tools given to them by said 'third party' brokerage. In some instances where the company or app has a lot of users, your order-book can be bought by the third-party brokerage for millions, an example is Robinhood who sells their Order-book for millions of dollars. Now back to your initial talk, this business runs on quantity meaning it's better to have 100,000 users buying & selling for peanuts than having maybe 10,000 paying 1.5% per trade. There is nothing extra here as this is a software company so if you build out your product to compete with foreign platforms & keep cost extremely low & usher in said product to numerous African countries, you can have 1 million-2 millions users in a few years & then actually compete with whoever. People like you are the reason companies feed us shit in this country & we gladly eat it. FYI, Robinhood came out in 2015 as a relative nobody when Titans of the business like Charles Schwab,TD Ameritrade & E Trade were market leaders & today they have 6 million users & they were the first to start Buying & selling Shares for $0 & forced the BIG companies to follow suit. It won't actually cost these companies anything to provide stocks at extremely low fees or even $0 in fees as they already spend millions in marketing that they can save by offering $0 in fee & gain better market share. Software companies are run the same way & don't have the infrastructure problem that hold companies back in Nigeria so Inferiority complex is your problem. DexterousOne: |
What're you talking about here? you're telling me that after seeing way better companies charging almost $0 in fees for trading & investing, people should sign up for bamboo & trade there because of their plight? smh, trading & investing is not a get rich shceme. you're more likely to loose money than make money tradng so adding fees in percentage to the equation only makes you behind other traders. it's a RIPOFF. There is no reason they should charge such fees. DexterousOne: |
OK! So if you're new to investing or stock trading i'd advice you not to go with most of if not any of the Nigerian "trading platforms" & i know how this sounds but here's the thing: If you're not already experienced with trading, graphs & indicators then most of the other trading platforms based outside of Nigeria would help you a whole lot better than the ones here because the ones here are also new just like you & would require time to configure their "product or platform" to better suit the everyday trader/investor. For example if i open a $10k position on a stock, based on trove's fees i'd pay $100 fee for that at 1%. Platforms like this are definitely not for you even if you're not trading with $10k. Just head over to the fees page on trove to see the disgusting fee structure they have. If you're buying us stocks for example you pay a 1% fee of the total amount for buying & the same goes for selling. So at the end of the day if you have to close a position at a loss you'd be loosing at both ends of the stick. Oh,their terms & conditions are equally flawed. Most people won't mind these things maybe cuz you have limited information & don't know about the wealth of platforms at your disposal but as always,Do Your Due Diligence. Bamboo charges a whooping 2.9% for depositing with a USD card & then charge a 1.5% "commission" on buying & selling US Stocks. They also have fees for instant deposit as apparently your deposit won't be instant but if you want that there's a fee for that. LMAO! tommieen: |

Etoro has fees on leveraged positions. There's overnight fee & weekend fee. And the fees payment is structured in a way that you might not know as the fee is deducted daily from your cash balance 7 if you don't have a cash balance you'd see a minus whatever amount displayed there & when you close your position they'd deduct it from the cash balance. i use 3 brokers: Charles Schwabb,Etoro & trading212. Schwabb is for options & long term hold say 4yrs & i only buy very young companies after doing some serious DD. Etoro is mainly for buying & selling & have had them for years & my trading212 acct is about 3 months old & i use them because they enabled pro account for me which means more leverage for daytrading. I have a trading pattern i use when i want to invest in a stock with leverage but the stock might go down especially during a selling period. if you've already opened a long position & see that the stock is trailing down faster than expected, instead of waiting to BUY the DIP you should simply open a SHORT position on the same stock equivalent or greater than your original long position quantity, that way you're not loosing on subsequent downturn but must know when to close said short position to begin the journey long. A lot of people using leverage need to learn how to short a stock,it doesn't always go UP especially when the market is this volatile. YerYer: |

No offence but this is very bad information. Your bull sentiment for Apple is wrong because at $500 per share you have to come up with something better than iphone as the reason apple isn't overvalued. The iphone is no longer the future of Apple & they don't even sell as much as before as growth is dwindling. With the issues in china still unresolved, apple would loose market share in china if trump moves ahead with banning Wechat because the app is just about everything for china. Apple's services is good but a lot of companies are fighting the 30% App store commission apple charges right now. at $500 a lot of things are priced in at this point & the thing to look at is how much growth can they make both in the mobile % PC industry. Yes,their phone is good but that is not even a good reason to Buy their stock at $500 & the iphone is not the number 1 best selling phone in the world. Samsung & Huawei are ahead in terms of sales & would continue to take market share as long as they have high quality phones for good prices which is why the Iphone SE was released. Even in the PC section the macbook still come in behind heavyweights like Dell HP & Lenovo in PC shipments & they would continue to eat up market share as they make PC more affordable. The question is at $500 is the room for growth going to justify buying this stock at this price? You all need to understand that investing is not about whether Steve jobs is alive or not or looking at the brains behind the company. information here should be backed by research & Fundamentals& i for one believe that if you don't have over $10,000 to invest you should be looking companies with room for growth & undervalued companies. Imagine mentioning SpaceX a totally different company to Tesla & i believe people blindly invest or buy into the Tesla hype because they see elon musk as this person that would bring this & that to the auto industry. Lemme Reiterate that while Tesla & Elon musk are revolutionizing the electric auto industry,a lot of automakers are closely behind & a lot can change in a short period of time. Also self driving tech has been banned in Europe, mainly in Germany & they do not & would not use it for the foreseeable future. Tesla is simply overvalued & you're basically risking your money buying into it at $2000 & i won't even advice buying or touching Tesla if you trade CFD except you're day trading & know what you're doing. You guys also need to know that the economic dangers that can come out of this virus is not over yet & if things spiral down again even at a 10-15% rate,a lot of overpriced stocks would take the biggest hit because people would take profits Fast!. If you're new to trading or investing in general, you need to start from understanding value investing. start by looking at companies balance sheets, price to earnings ratio, price to earnings growth & the fundamentals so you can easily on your own understand when a company is overvalued, undervalued & has a good enough room for growth. Also small capital traders need to do away with popular stocks as a lot of them are inflated right now. Now am not saying that Apple cannot get to $550 or $600 or that Tesla cannot get to even $3000, am simply saying know enough to be able to measure upside & downside risks & see if you're willing to BUY. proprp: |
OK listen. Apple were growing tremendously during the various (4) stock splits they did. most of them in the early 2000 when these products we are using today were birthed & so on. Investing in apple is never a bad idea as they have one of the best balance sheets of any company & also $190B in cash that could easily buy a lot of big companies but the question at the current price is room for growth. Growth in terms of new products & innovation. They've been making the same recycled phone since Iphone X & they also have a great Eco system but aren't even close to being worth $2T. for those of you buying these really overvalued company stocks right now it is not a bad idea but once there's a cure or people start getting comfortable with the coronavirus these companies would experience some serious selloff. Apple is like Gold right now in the sense that investors see it as a safe place to store or invest cash. Tesla is another case study here but they are no Apple both in technology & quality of their products & am not even talking about market Cap here. Tesla currently has a P/E (price To Earnings) Ratio of 1041. the aggregate P/E ratio of the aggregate auto manufacturing industry in america is around 22. For better context,Apple's P/E Ratio is 17 & you can read up on how a company's price to earnings is used to calculate it's valuation & performance. Tesla is a great company nonetheless but other big automakers are also pushing into the electric car market & would keep taking market share off of Tesla in the long run & at current stock price, they're valued more than Walmart & if you want to know the difference between both companies both in revenues & profit you can look at their balance sheet. i can give you so much more reasons why Tesla isn't a BUY especially in the long term & you can look at the Qualcomm Stock split bubble of 1999. It can be really tempting to buy into these stocks long term based on how much their prices rise daily & if you are a short term buyer/day trader you'd make a killing out of it but i believe both apple & Tesla can't justify their current valuations long term. As always,do your own research & make your decisions. OakPearl: |
