I'm going to keep this brief.

It started three weeks ago. my mum, who was walking normal with no problem suddenly could not walk. Her left leg began paining her severely that day. My mum was all in tears... She was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that her sugar level was on the high side. The hospital gave drugs which stabilised it, at that point my mum was very weak, couldn't eat, each time she eat she throws up and also had some pain in the leg still. After a week in the hospital, we were then referred to a teaching hospital after a test showed that creatinine in her kidney was high.

The teaching hospital tried their best and I can say my mum is now okay. Except for the left leg. She can't still walk on it, the leg feels cold to touch with a little discolouration above the foot.

Doppler test showed that blood isn't really flowing through the leg. And they said they will need to amputate the leg to prevent the infection from growing to the other parts of the body.

Please I want to know if you know anyone who had similar condition and amputation was recommended but was later healed without need for amputation.

Please share your recommendations. I need my mum now more than before in my life. We are confused on whether to allow them to go on with the amputation or seek other alternatives.

Pls note that as at now, her sugar level, creatinine and other things are normal.

Right now she needs at least zero carbs. because carbs turn to sugar

Nothing that has carbs (No bread, yam, eba or garri)

she can eat Fish, eggs , vegetable etc peppersoup as food

She can eat beans


Then fruits like water melon ,

Also she will need to be taking diabetes drug that will form insulin

But she has to stop taking in carbs which the body converts to sugar

No cocacola or sprite or any other soft drink

To save her live you have to take drastic measures

Take her to another doctor for blood test too


The most drastic measure is to do a water fast for 1 week and let the body burn off the over excess glucose in her blood.


Diabetics are usually advised to do exercise not sure if she can in her state.

Good morning happy people of nairaland.

I will try to be brief as possible. During the lock down my elder brother was seriously ill, we all thought it normal malaria and typhoid but getting to the hospital he was diagnosed of kidney diseases at it last stage (CKD). We all brace up and gave him all the support needed during the stage from one dialysis section to another something thrice a week.

It became worse and no improvement at sight, I literally do all thing for him, from bathing to feeding and carry him around the hospital but he faith he will come out of it. During the process he used all of his life saving to the extend of collecting and seeking financial assistance from people because the doctor advice to undergo kidney transplants.

On 2 April 2021 we went from dialysis, nurses were complaining that I allow him to drink a lot of water because at that stage he have a daily water intake and also needed blood. He did the blood transfusion and the dialysis but he had a breathing issue, the nurse place him on breathing machine the oxygen got exhausted and he was normal.

We went home by 12am, on getting home we ask for water, I told him to wait because I can even hear noise of water around his thoracic cavity. He was having difficult I had to call one of his friend so that we can take him back to the hospital but he gave up the ghost and we bury him that the same day because that was his wish. Due to his name, I was confused and angry at myself and everyone that we lost him due to 5 million needed for the transplant.

Months later I was able to get over his death a bit and went back to school, wrote the exam and graduated with first class even though the examination I didn't prepared much due to what happened. It was just God hand at work ( It only a fool that say there is no God).

Now the problem is that I can't sleep and remember my brother death that I should have done more. His death is like 5 months from now but it still fresh in my memory recently. My brother play a vital role in my education from paying my fee and monthly allowance and advice. I was thinking of using drugs so that I can sleep at time but talk me out of it. Pls how can I re again myself and also am an introvert I don't have people to talk to and I hardly go out.

Do u work, if ur work is office work then possibility u seat all day

If u do Go for long walk probably 1hr to 1hr 30mins

Do some exercise

Go back home take a bath

sleep without clothes

no need to take drugs

Hello guys....so I am currently 20 years of age..I just passed the just concluded jamb and I am wanting to study computer science in either a polytechnic or university then after that, join the military through S.S.C ..I have few questions I would love to ask anyone who has gone through similar experience or knows a thing or two...

1) should I go for a university degree ( with strike and possible extra years put into consideration) or a polytechnic for H.N.D?



2) is there a limit to the rank I can achieve for going through S.S.C ( because I've heard something like that) and how long would it take to rise to that rank if there's any?

Dont listen to the negative ppl here. all around the world nothing wrong in a 20 yr man joining the army. the expeirence, dispcipline is life changing. Hopefully u survive. Life is arisk. some ppl work out their house and get into accident.

U can be in the army for few years and bail out.

Look for someone who went through the DSSSC and ask them how to juggle it or ask someone on Army Facebook
