I think if nigerians will go with my view, nigeria is too big to have only one vice president. Each an every geo political zone should have a vice president. By so i know some things will not be over look. Eg fulani, boko haram. |

It was hell yesterday for the vc at FUK,as he was asked to live the school and currently embarking on a three weeks warning strike. Things became rough in the school as there is no payment of salaries, student do not go on field work, light issue, the on the Gen from 8 to 4pm and lectures terminate by 6pm,no escort for students, wifi some times one month without. now the school fees was added at 8000naira increase, but yet salaries were still with helded. This brought about crises on campus yesterday and the office of the Vc was shutdown by the non academic staff Union and supported by the senior staff academic Union of the varsity. |

The Senate has commenced the process of amending section 308 of the 1999 Constitution which gives immunity to president, vice president, governors and deputy governors in the country. A bill to that effect sponsored by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (LP, Delta) has been referred to the Senate Committee on Constitution amendment chaired by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Senate President Bukola Saraki had before the commencement of Christmas/New Year holiday said the constitution amendment would be passed early next year. Specifically, the bill seen in the National Assembly journal proposed the substitution of subsection 308(2) that presently reads, “ the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall not apply to civil proceedings against a person to whom this section applies in his official capacity or to civil or criminal proceedings in which such a person is only a nominal party” with a new section. The proposed amendment reads, the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall not apply to, (a) “ civil proceedings against a person to whom this section applies in his official capacity or to civil or criminal proceedings in which such a person is only a nominal party” It (b) part reads, “criminal proceedings connected to, related to or arising from economic and financial crimes”. Shedding more light on the bill, Omo-Agege said like in the US, the president and VP, governors and their deputies should only be immune from civil actions arising from their official actions while in office. “They are not entitled to immunity from litigation for actions not germane to their work. For example a president or governor who buys a car for a child and refuses to pay can be taken to court while in office,” he said. He added that: “also like in the US, there should be no immunity from criminal investigation or prosecution for crimes committed either before or while in office. “Recall that Mr. Spiro Agnew while a sitting VP under President Nixon was tried and convicted for tax evasion while in office. Bill Clinton as a sitting president was hauled before a grand jury by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr for perjury (lying under oath) while in office as president. “Finally, Elliot Spitzer as a sitting governor of New York was tried and convicted for illicit solicitation of sex.” He expressed optimism that if the amendment is passed, there will be sanity, transparency and accountability in the Executive Arm of government, especially “Treatment of our state resources which most of them currently treat as slush funds”.

I’m a Nigerian, my life doesn’t matter coz I’m not a herdsman or cow… You can’t tell me Buhari is not bias, insensitive, and chauvinistic and also he does not mean well for all Nigerians when he selectively shows sympathy and solidarity with victims of Boko Haram attacks across states like Yobe, Borno and Adamawa as always witnessed that he never fails in issuing his vehement condemnation of such heinous attacks and senseless killings of innocent civilians whenever they occur followed by his stern commitment of using all militaristic might that will ensure the perpetrators of such crimes against humanity are punished or vanquished. But sadly on the other hand, Buhari becomes dumb, exhibits cowardice and develops a cold feet to condemn the killings or rise up in defence of innocent children, women and men in remote villages across southern Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue and Taraba states respectively always susceptible to the lingering carnage perpetuated by armed Fulani herdsmen his administration preferably chooses to brand as “unknown aliens.” Why is the deafening silence from Buhari always maintained whenever people are killed by Fulani Herdsmen? Are the victims of Fulani herdsmen killings in Southern Kaduna or Benue not Nigerians deserving of his ‘presidential acknowledgment’ that will ensure security of their lives and properties? Did Buhari not take an oath of office that he will be fair and just to all Nigerians? Why is the media downplaying the ongoing pogrom? Is there a grand conspiracy to exterminate ethnic minorities under the watchful eyes of Buhari since he’s refusing to act? Why is Buhari afraid of directing the use of military force against people his administration brands as ‘aliens’ if truly they are, it means the federal government is irresponsible, complicit and has failed in her responsibility of ensuring our borders are not porous enough to permit entry of murderous invaders. It’s a shame that most Nigerians are not speaking out against this barefaced evil and terror some of us are witnessing simply because they are not affected. We are truly one Nigeria indeed. |
