We do now that the issues you have raised happen everywhere! The golden rule which applies everywhere is that you must maintain a functional backup even if you host on the best infrastructure. You have to keep a backup.

Can you webhosts warn every customer about that?
Or better still do a autobackup for customers like foreign hosts do.

Dont blame my stance

Last week, Nigeria's renowned webhost, contacted me to inform that they had a server failure and all my website content have been lost. Before I could doff my hat for these people but with what I know now, I can never use a Nigerian host. They are not competent enough. They will fail you and they will abandon you.

They collect the Naira equivalent. They are reliable. They have good uptime, they have good customer service. As for Nigerian hosts, get ready for depression

I dont know about what you're saying here but to be sincere with you i've been using whogohost for the past one year and there's been no error! I use them for all my client websites. My forum(www.nct.com.ng) is hosted on it.

I used to brag like you concerning whogohost. Now i can only give you an advice. Backup regularly. On a cloud or on your pc. I have 15 sites with them, the other 10 are running well. The 5 that got hit is costing me alot

I have nothing to lose by saying customers of a cheap service should keep their personal backups at all times. If I was representing any web host, I would say the exact same thing. Please visit online forums and see the response of experts when Foreign Web Hosts Lose Customer Data. The User takes the Blame for not playing his role of taking personal backups.

If something similar happens to your Hosting Company in Future, I hope you would remember this thread to see how ungracious you were when it happened to a different host.

I have advised all my clients to go for foreign hosts. They know what hosting is all about unlike the quacks here. So far these bloody Nigerian webhosts have screwed me in a way or the other
