The Kaduna Zonal Office of the EFCC have arrested six fraudsters who specialize in defrauding people by using bank details obtained through sim swaps and ATMs, Igbere TV reports. A statement obtained by Igbere TV from the EFCC’s website, gave the name of the key suspect as Mr Urulo Ikenna Henry, an Inspector with the Enugu Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). Others were listed as Ugonna Nelson Owete, Ugonna Samuel Okafor Obinna, Chigbo Paschal Chidiebere, Oha Chukwujekwu Kingsley, and Ahamefula Francis Izuchukwu. The suspects were said to have been arrested in separate operations, sequel to a petition by a customer of Access Bank, alleging that monies were illegally transferred from his account without his authorisation. According to the petitioner, sometime in February, 2019, he opened an account with Diamond Bank (now Access Bank) which he funded to the tune of N5m and instructed the bank to open a fixed deposit account, with the sum of N1m from the earlier account, as opening balance. The complainant said he was receiving regular alerts until the end of March, 2019 when the alerts stopped coming, prompting him to demand his statement of account from the bank. “Upon receipt of his bank statement, he discovered to his chagrin that the sum of two million nine hundred and eleven thousand four hundred and eighty naira (N2,911,480m) had fraudulently been transferred to several accounts between April 5 -9, 2019 without his authorisation”, the statement said. “Upon the receipt of the petition, the zonal office of the Commission immediately swung into action and traced some of the funds to three of the suspects, Samuel Okafor Obinna - N1,500.000; Chigbo Paschal Chidiebere -N210,000 and Oha Chukwujekwu Kingsley N300 000. All three were promptly arrested”, the EFCC said. Further investigation revealed that Ikenna Henry, Nelson Owete (a known criminal who was earlier arrested and paraded by the Enugu State Police for crimes bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery) and Ahamefula Francis Izuchukwu were equally complicit in the fraud. They were arrested. Upon arrest, items recovered from Urulo Ikenna Henry included a Toyota Camry, documents of 2 plots of land, 2 Nigeria Housing Fund Passbook (one belonging to him and the other bearing Ani Wilfred Ochechukwu), 17 ATM cards of different banks bearing different names, 2 Nigerian Correctional Service Identity Cards, 2 smart phones and 2 Nokia phones, 1 NHIS card, 1 voter card, 26 Starter Packs and 15 SIM cards of various networks. Two sachets of Cannabis Sativa, 8 ATM cards bearing different names and banks, 6 Starter Packs, and 4 SIM cards of various networks, One empty ECOWAS Passport, 1 NDA dependant ID card and a voter card were also recovered from Francis Izuchukwu. The statement added that the suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded. http://igberetvnews.com/980219/efcc-arrests-prisons-staff-5-others-for-atm-fraud-photos/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

A former Minister of Education and 2019 presidential aspirant, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to the constitution of an Economic Team by President Muhammadu Buhari, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV had reported that President Buhari, on Monday, announced the constitution of an eight-man Economic Advisory Council (EAC), with Adedoyin Rasaq Salami as Chairman. A statement obtained by Igbere TV issued by Buhari’s Spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the Council will replace the current Economic Management Team (EMT) led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and will be reporting directly to the President. Reacting to the development, the former Minister expressed optimism that the Council would tell the President “how he mismanaged the economy in the last four years”. Ezekwesili, who acknowledged that the new Council has strong membership, however, said the development was not new in the American system which Nigeria “copied”. She described the just disbanded Economic Management Team (EMT) led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as ‘figure head’, alleging that the VP was not directly in charge. Read below, a transcript of the full tweets by the former Minister as brought to you by Igbere TV... “The setting up a Council of Economic Advisors is in itself one of the features of the American Presidential system which we copied.http://igberetvnews.com/980219/the-new-economic-team-should-tell-buhari-how-he-mismanaged-the-economy-ex-minister/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

...extends hand of fellowship to APC, Adelabu Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reacted to his victory at the Oyo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV had reported that the Tribunal, on Monday, upheld INEC’s declaration of Makinde/PDP as winner of the March 9 governorship election. The APC and its candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, were seeking to upturn the election of Makinde, saying he was elected by “unlawful votes.” But delivering judgement on Monday, the Tribunal said the petitioners failed to prove allegations of over-voting, corrupt practices; adding that most of the witnesses presented based their evidence on hearsay. Reacting in a statement obtained by Igbere TV issued by the Governor’s Spokesman, Taiwo Adisa, Makinde described his victory as “the triumph of truth over falsehood.” He said that he did not expect anything less from the Tribunal “because truth is always constant.” The governor expressed appreciation to the people of the state for standing by him before, during and after the election. He called on the major opposition party in the state, the APC, to join hands with him to work for the good of the state. “We want to thank the people of Oyo state who have stood behind us before, during and after the election. “We have remained focused on the task the people of the state committed into our hands and we are pushing on with our agenda for Oyo state. “What I will say to the APC members is that they should let us forget politics for now; let us all work together for the good of the people of Oyo state. “Let them key into our agenda to bring prosperity to the state; let us, together, tackle poverty and ensure that our good intentions for the people of the state are realised,” the statement read. Meanwhile, the APC in Oyo State said on Monday that it received the judgment of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in the state with dismay. A statement obtained by Igbere TV signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr Azeez Olatunde, said the APC would refer the ruling to its legal team for necessary action. http://igberetvnews.com/980219/oyo-governor-makinde-reacts-to-tribunal-victory/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

The Organized Labour in Nigeria has threatened to embark on an indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the N30,000 New National Minimum Wage structure, Igbere TV reports. This is coming after a meeting between the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government and the labour unions on Monday, in Abuja, ended in deadlock; as both party failed to reach an agreement. Igbere TV recalls that President Buhari had signed the new minimum wage structure into law in April, 2019, during his first tenure, but six months down the line, the policy is yet to take effect. The workers’ are threatening to embark on strike against the federal government over discrepancies in the National Minimum Wage Scheme implementation. Chairman of the Labour team, Simon Anchaver said the team has taken a resolution to write to the leaderships of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to proceed on indefinite strike as a means of putting government in checks. He described government’s foot dragging on the new minimum wage implementation as an invitation for strike action, noting that workers were already agitated on whether their accumulated arrears will be paid when talks are finally concluded. He said at a meeting between the Joint Negotiating Team which was chaired by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, both parties only succeeded in making minor adjustments in their earlier positions. According to Anchaver, while the government team stepped up from 9.5 percent to 11 percent for grade levels 7 to 14 and 6.5 percent from 5.5 percent for levels 15 to 17, workers stepped down to 29 percent from 30 percent for grade levels 7 to 14 and 24 from 25 percent for levels 15 to 17. http://igberetvnews.com/980219/breaking-minimum-wage-organized-labour-threatens-strike/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J
