President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, assured the world that Nigeria would not disappoint in its leadership of the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA74).

Buhari gave the assurance in New York at the sidelines of UNGA74, while eulogizing the leadership qualities of Nigeria’s Amb. Tijani Bande, the newly sworn in UNGA president.

Bande, a former Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, took office as President of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 17.

A professor of Political Science and former Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Bande is the 3rd Nigerian to hold the office in 30 years.

Addressing world leaders, Tuesday, Buhari said Nigerians “are truly grateful, and shall endeavour to live up to the expectorations and responsibilities thrust upon us’’.

“Amb. Muhammad-Bande is an experienced and seasoned diplomat and I am confident that he will prove to the international community his suitability for this most demanding assignment,’’ he said.

Buhari, who mounted the podium at 11.50 a.m. New York time (4.50 p.m. Nigerian time), is the 5th leader to speak after the Presidents of Brazil, United Nations, Egypt and Turkey.

The Nigerian Senate has declared its readiness to reform the nation education sector and tackle youth unemployment.

The Senate also promised to make the Agricultural sector attractive, and equally reform the Petroleum Industry.

Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan, disclosed this in a series of tweets sighted by Igbere TV on his verified Twitter handle, on Tuesday.

On the issue of kidnapping, farmers and herders clash, the upper legislative chambers pledged to review a report of the ad-hoc committee set up by the Bukola Saraki led 8th Senate.

While condemning the recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, the Senate equally pledged to review and strengthen the nation's citizen diplomacy.

MINOR CABINET RESHUFFLE: FESTUS KEYAMO SWAPS POSITION WITH TAYO ALASOADURA

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate redeployment of two Ministers of State as follows:
i. Mr Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs is to move to Ministry of Labour and Employment as Minister of State,

ii. Senator Tayo Alasoadura is to move to Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as Minister of State.

This redeployment takes effect from today, Tuesday 24th September, 2019.

Rape allegation: Jealous pastors responsible for Fatoyinbo’s ordeal ― COZA alleges
•Says church don't support rape

The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has alleged that some pastors who felt that the founder of COZA, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was outshining them in the Ministry were responsible for the rape allegation levelled on him by Busola Dakolo.

Pastor Fatoyinbo has been under attack by some Nigerians when the wife of Timi Dakolo, Busola Dakolo alleged that he (Fatoyinbo) raped her when she was 16 years.

After the allegation, many Nigerians took to the street, demanding for Pastor Fatoyinbo to step down from the pulpit.

Before the matter was taken to court, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), had set up a panel to investigate the allegations of Busola Dakolo against the senior Pastor of COZA.

Meanwhile, COZA in a statement said in the past and present, some pastors had been working hard to tarnish the image of their founder.

The statement which was signed by the Executive Senior Assistant to the Senior Pastor of COZA, Ademola Adetuberu noted that the church does not support rape, and also stands by anyone who has been a victim of rape.

The statement reads: “We see this ugly development fuelled by envy and sheer jealousy as an unnecessary distraction and a fight from the pit of hell against the ministry that God gave Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, as well as a declaration of war against the Church of Christ to which COZA is a flourishing branch under God’s grace.

“We are not unaware that certain pastors that felt threatened by the unprecedented growth of COZA and the grace of God upon His Servant are after some of our members, just making every effort to cash in on the attack against God’s servant. There was nothing they had not done behind the scene until this rape scandal.

“They are accusing our Pastor of snatching their members. Some are even asking why he couldn’t remain in Ilorin. Our focus is the Kingdom of God and winning souls for Christ. COZA is home to those who have sold out to Jesus. At COZA, we believe that every sent servant of God has his or her harvest field given to him or her by God and not by poaching souls or believers of another ministry.

“The enemies of the Church have been going about fabricating stories against our Pastor having realized that the Busola story cannot be proved in the court of law. They are begging people to come out to make frivolous claims against the anointed Servant of God. Not only that, some highly respected Pastors who identify with our Pastor are being abused and insulted for standing by the truth while some agreed with them on the need to demonise and destroy our Pastor. But we have a message for them, COZA is marching on and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. Jesus Christ whom we are serving will vindicate our Pastor and the adversaries will be silenced forever in Jesus Name

“We, therefore, urge those sponsoring these evils to desist however if they do not, the God of vengeance will visit them. They should let Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo continue freely with the divine mandate that our Lord Jesus Christ gave him. It is ungodly and sinful to be used by satan against the anointed”.

The church while saying that Busola Dakolo would soon be served with justice, said their Senior Pastor never had anything personal to do with her (Busola Dakolo) or even dated her.

“We stand with anyone who has been a victim of rape. We stand by our Founding and Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, who has been at the receiving end of organized blackmail and all sorts of attacks because of his innocence and we are sure that our faithful and unfailing God will vindicate him very soon.

“As for Busola Dakolo, justice will soon be served. We would like to, again, for the record reiterate that our Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo has never had anything personal to do with her. Busola was not raped by Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo and she had never been in a relationship with him either”, the statement noted.

“This is utterly depressing news. So, the Sowore affair has moved beyond harassment and taken on a sinister direction. Outside the country where I happened to be engaged at the moment, I can testify that the immediate reaction around me was to dismiss this as yet another grotesque product of Fake News, of which Nigerians have become the greatest practitioners. I confess that I also joined in this school of thought – at the start.

“Further checks have however confirmed that this government has indeed attained an unprecedented level of paranoia. I do not believe that the Justice department itself believes in these improbable charges, as formally publicised. So, once again, we inscribe in our annals another season of treasonable felony, History still guards some lessons we have yet to digest, much less from which to learn.

Today I met with a delegation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry from Nigeria and West Africa. I assured them of our administration’s readiness to work with them to bring an end to smuggling and the dumping of substandard items in West Africa and on the continent.

It is regrettable there there are traders who simply do not play by the rules; who choose profits over patriotism, and
whose selfish practices in perpetrating smuggling and counterfeiting help keep foreign factories working while closing ours.

We have all heard stories about the dangerous and sometimes, fatal impact of fake drugs and foods on our citizens. We have also seen how fake electrical items have led to fires in homes and markets thereby destroying lives and property.

Most of these substandard and illegal items are smuggled through our land borders. After many years of diplomacy and aggressive regulatory oversight which yielded few results, we decided to close our land borders for a limited time to assess the impact of this measure.

Within a few short weeks since the partial border closures began, we are already seeing a decline in the volumes of counterfeit smuggled goods in some of our major markets across the country.

This validates our action as a Government when we insist that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement must not only promote free trade, but legal trade of quality made-in-Africa goods and services.

We will soon finalise the National Action Committee on the implementation of the AfCFTA. We expect the organized private sector to continue to support us in achieving a Free Trade Area that employs Africans to produce high-quality made-in-Africa products.

Let me also thank NACCIMA for the honour done to me with the investiture today as their Grand Patron. I will not let them down. Trade is central to our economy; we are a nation of traders,and have been for centuries. I will ensure that we continue to give the sector full support.

If the guy did not authorize it, then the bank should sort their issue with the criminals and return his money sharply. I do not think this is the guy's fight rather it should be the bank's fight.
