Nigerians are demanding justice and a thorough investigation into the killing of students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Igbere TV reports. This is even as the Governor's Wife, Bisi Fayemi, is being dragged on social media for reportedly ordering the shooting, an allegation she has since denied. Igbere TV had reported that the students were protesting lack of electricity and water on their campus, when they had a clash with the police attached to the Governor’s wife convoy. The First was said to have visited the area for another event, when the SUG President requested she addressed the protesting students. An eyewitness told Igbere TV that the students went berserk after one of the security officers reportedly slapped the SUG president, prompting them to retaliate. The once peaceful protest got violent, as the police officers called for reinforcements with at least two armoured vehicles, cracking down on the runaway students. At least, four students lost their lives in the incident which last for hours, with many injured still lying in different hospitals within Oye town, Ekiti State. The incident forced the university to proscribe the student union activities, shut down the school indefinitely, and ordered the students to vacate their halls of residence. Meanwhile, the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has constituted a panel to unravel the circumstances leading to the Tuesday’s protest by students and the alleged attack on Bisi Fayemi. The vice-chancellor said that the 12-man investigative panel headed by Prof. Abayomi Fasina, a Deputy Vice-Chancellor in the institution, would also suggest ways to prevent a recurrence, reports Igbere TV. http://igberetvnews.com/980219/nigerians-demand-justice-over-fuoye-killings-drag govs-wife/

Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace Airlines, Allen Onyema, has been trending on Twitter since early Thursday, Igbere TV has observed. This followed the successful evacuation of some Nigerians from South Africa, following the renewed xenophobic attacks in that country. Igbere TV had reported that 187 Nigerians, who voluntarily indicated interest to return home, arrived Nigeria Wednesday night through the Lagos Airport. They were airlifted by Air Peace at no cost, while the Airline company bears the entire bill burden for their flight, according to its Founder and CEO. This development has caused many Nigerians to heap praises and prayers on Onyema, even as some pledged to make Air Peace their official flying company. In an emotional video sighted by Igbere TV on Wednesday, the Air Peace CEO was also seen crying profusely as he received the 187 returnees from South Africa at the Lagos airport. Nigerians have expressed satisfaction, hailing him for airlifting all those who indicated interest, not minding their ethnic group or religious belief. Already, an observation on Air Peace official Twitter handle (@flyAirPeace), showed that the follower count of the company on the platform had tripled. Here are some screenshots obtained by Igbere TV showing some of the reactions. See below... The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, said there was no enough evidence suggesting that President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not lawfully elected, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that the Tribunal made the assertion while ruling on a petition brought before it by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging Buhari’s victory in the February 23 election. Atiku and the PDP had, in their petition, alleged that President Buhari was not elected by lawful votes, but through “manipulated figures” in an election they claimed was rigged. But delivering judgement, Justice Mohammed Garba of the five-man panel, said the petitioners failed to discharge the burden of proof that Buhari was not elected by a majority of lawful votes. “The petitioners have a duty to prove all the allegations which are criminal in nature beyond reasonable doubt,” the lead judge (Mohammed Garba) said in his ruling. He listed other allegations the PDP and Atiku raised in their petition to include, compromised printing of election materials, manipulation of ballot boxes, manipulation of card readers, and manipulation of accreditation and collation. Others are, manipulation of security agencies and militarisation of election, manipulation of election materials’ delivery, arbitrary arrest of petitioners’ supporters and massive thumb-printing of ballot papers. “Under these issues, the petitioners alleged the election was marred by irregularities, misuse of scarce resources, manipulation of result sheets, over-voting, wrongful recording of results, intimidation of voters among others in 11 ‘focal states’,”Justice Garba said. Igbere TV reports that the petitioners’ 11 focal states are, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Yobe and Zamfara States. The Tribunal insisted that the allegations levelled under issues 4 and 5 (above) were criminal in nature that must be proved beyond reasonable doubt. Igbere TV reports that three members of the five-man panel of justices agreed with the lead judge (Mohammed Garba) in his ruling. The Tribunal, therefore, stroke out the entire petition of Atiku and the PDP against Buhari and the APC, for lacking merit, and failure to evidently prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. http://igberetvnews.com/977003/no-evidence-that-buhari-was-not-elected-by-lawful-votes-tribunal Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians to be careful of what they post on Twitter about the state, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that Gov. El-Rufai gave the warning on Tuesday, in Abuja, at the launching of the book “Digital Wealth”, by Japheth .J. Omojuwa, a Nigerian blogger. Anything Japheth is doing from now till the end of eternity I’ll be there”, he added. https://mobile.twitter.com/BashirAhmaad/status/1171405620899188736 http://igberetvnews.com/975416/be-careful-of-what-you-tweet-about-kaduna-im-watching-el-rufai/
