YOU'LL BE THE FIRST

“And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.”
(1 Kings 17: 13)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the widow of Zarephath had little resources to prepare cake, and Elijah demanded that some cake be prepared for him first, before the woman prepares something for herself and her son. Resources were limited, but Elijah was to be considered first. It was a tight situation, there wasn’t much to share, but Elijah was considered first.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will be considered first. The opportunities might be scarce, the space might be limited, but you will be considered first; your children will be considered first; your family members will be considered first; your business will be considered first by clients; your ideas will be so outstanding that they will be considered first.

There may be scarce resources with several competitors, but God says, you will be considered first; several people may seek the same positions you seek, but God says, you will be considered first; there may be people who should be considered ahead of you, but God says, you will be considered ahead of them; you may be the last on the queue, but miraculously, you will be considered first.

No matter what the devil says, you will be considered first; no matter what your haters say about you, no matter what the rules or impediments are, no matter what the protocol is, and no matter what happens in the economy, you will be considered first. You shall be considered ahead of others.

The man who was considered first was God’s servant. Serve God and you will be considered first. Ask God to cause you to be considered first. Ask God to place you ahead of your contemporaries.

Prayer: Lord, I shall be considered first, in Jesus’ name! Amen

IS SOMETHING MISSING?

“So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

God sent Elijah to the home of a widow of Zarephath. The fact that the woman was a widow meant that her husband was dead. Something was missing from her home; Elijah needed a place where he could eat, and God sent him to a place where something was missing.

Despite what was missing, the miracle of getting fed sumptuously during a famine still happened. Something was missing, yet things worked for Elijah. Something was missing but it did not stop Elijah’s miracle from taking place. Elijah went to a place where something was missing, and God still visited him.

Friend, God says, something may be missing, but it won’t stop your miracle from happening. The right connections may be missing, but God will cause you to rise above your expectations; the support you need may be missing, the right policies may be missing, but God will do what He said He will do for you. Some factors that should make life easier may be missing, but God says, your miracle will happen regardless.

God says, the dots may not connect, but your purpose will be fulfilled. Things may not connect but God is on your side, and God is your strength; things may not connect but your progress is assured; things may not connect, but your next level is coming. Whatever is missing won't hinder God or stop you at all.

Focus on God and God’s word, and forget about what is missing in your life. If Jehovah is involved, what is missing will not stop you.

Prayer: Lord, whatever is missing will not stop my miracle, in Jesus’ name! Amen

You will make uncommon achievements with ease; you will find your desired opportunities with ease; you will hit your targets with ease; your transition to your next level will happen with ease; your elevation will be easy and simple; what others struggle for will come to you on a platter of gold. I want to give God Almighty all glory for the marvelous miracle He did for me today concerning my work.

I made a supply to a place one month ago, the payment is big and the MD has been giving me date and postponing each time. He finally fixed today and I went there, he told me to come by morning to get some certain amount like 1/3rd, I told him no and explained to him why he needed to pay all urgently, then he concluded he will return some of the goods, I was not happy because his one of the big customers for what I do and returning may also mean that I may find it difficult to do business with him again, after much time, he called me and asked for total amount, he gave me a cheque for all the outstanding and put a date that is still good for me.

Not only that, he told me he doesn't know why he just feel like doing big business with me that God place it in his heart, to the glory of God he mentioned a good amount which he can also benefit from in terms of incentives, I told him the payment pattern, it was okay by him.

I am not taking it for granted at all because it is only God of Elijah that did it.

GROW IN KNOWLEDGE

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the woman of Zarephath met Elijah, she spoke about the Lord. That woman lived in Zidon- an ungodly territory. People in her locale didn't know God, but she knew God. Her knowledge of God was higher than that of people around her, and soon, she met God’s representative- Elijah. Her higher knowledge of God seemed to give her a platform that was higher than her locale.

Friend, a higher knowledge of God will place you higher than your environment. The more you know God, the more He connects you to people and places that are higher than your environment; the more you get close to God, the more He brings the supernatural life closer to you; the more you dig into God’s word, the more the word comes alive in you and takes you above your environment.

Knowing God more will cause heaven to bring you divinely orchestrated realities that your environment cannot explain. Knowing God more will cause the resources of heaven to be released to you; knowing God more will make you a candidate of divine intervention; knowing God more will usher in a new phase where your life will experience more and more of the power of God.

It may seem coincidental that God sent Elijah to a woman whose knowledge of God was high. A higher knowledge of God makes it easy for God to connect you to your next level; a higher knowledge of God makes it easy for God to send you higher men and higher opportunities. A higher knowledge of God is the highway to a higher life.

Don’t be content with an abysmal knowledge of God; seek to know Him more, and He will be more manifest in your life.

Prayer: Lord, I seek to know You more; reveal Yourself to me, in Jesus’ name!

BE DIFFERENT

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

During Elijah’s conversation with the woman of Zarephath, she made mention of the Lord. That woman lived in an ungodly, pagan territory, she lived among people who didn't know God, but she knew about the Lord. She knew what people in her environment did not know.

The woman of Zarephath was not in Israel, but she connected to the covenant of Israel. The order of the day around her was idolatry, but she did not become part of that order. She did not allow her environment to feed her; she did not allow what was wrong in her environment to go wrong in her. She was different from her environment.

Friend, dare to be better than your environment. Don’t allow the negativity around you to become part of you; don’t become ungodly because others around you are ungodly; don’t become dishonest because people around you are dishonest; don’t engage in a vice simply because people around you are involved.

Don’t allow the negativity in your environment to feed you; don’t allow the voice of haters to feed you; don’t allow your doctor’s report to feed you; don’t allow the negative news you hear or read in the media to feed your mind with negativity; don’t allow the negative reports of people around you to dampen your spirit or slow you down.

If your environment doesn't feed you, you will rise above it. The negativity around you has no business living in you; don’t allow what is wrong around you to come into you.

2 Corinthians 6 vs. 17 says: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

Prayer: Lord, the negativity around me will not find room in me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

GENERATIONAL BLESSINGS

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The widow of Zarephath lived in Zidon, the same area where the woman of Tyre and Sidon (see Matthew 15 vs. 21-28) dwelt. The woman of Zarephath knew the Lord as seen in her conversation with Elijah; the woman of Tyre and Sidon also knew Jesus, though her territory was a gentile, ungodly, pagan territory. The woman of Tyre and Sidon and the woman of Zarephath both knew the Lord.

God reached out to the widow in Zarephath through Elijah; several generations later, a woman from Tyre and Sidon encountered Jesus and her child was liberated. Something positive happened to the woman of Zarephath, and several generations later, a similar positive encounter came to her descendant. It was a generational blessing that flowed down.

Friend, if there be any positive virtue in you, if there be any grace, favour and mercy from God upon you, God says, it shall flow down to generations coming after you. Your unborn generations shall inherit your passion and love for God; they will inherit your spirit of excellence; they will inherit your passion for prayer and God’s word.

God says, whatever He has done for you, He will do more for your children. Your children will rise higher than you would ever rise; they will have more divine speed, wealth, luck, favour, increase, excellence, fame, open doors, miracles, testimonies, etc. Whatever good you have seen, expect more in your children.

Just as your children have the capacity to inherit the positives, they can also inherit the negatives in greater measure. Do away with everything in you that isn't worth inheriting. If it is not good enough to be inherited, it shouldn’t be in you.

Prayer: Lord, may my unborn generations witness generational blessings, in Jesus’ name! Amen

In our Focal Scripture, God told Elijah that He had commanded a widow in Zarephath to sustain him. Elijah needed sustenance because of the famine he proclaimed in Israel. He literally cursed Israel and created the famine, but God made divine, private arrangements for him to be sustained. Elijah was not a victim of his own prophecy. God kept him from what others suffered in Israel.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will be kept from whatever has gone wrong around you. God will not allow you to suffer what others are suffering in your nation; God will make divine arrangements that will keep you going when others break down and give up; God will make your situation so different that people around you will wonder how your sustenance happens.

The economic recession that happens to others will not affect you. The tragedies and misfortunes that affect others won’t affect you; your career won't suffer what other careers are suffering; your business won't suffer what other businesses are suffering; your destiny will not be halted or stagnated the way others are halted or stagnated.

Elijah was the cause of the problem in Israel, his proclamation led to famine, but God wouldn’t let him suffer for what he said with his mouth. Even when you should be a victim of your own actions, God will make divine arrangements to bail you out; God will shield you from even the things you brought on yourself.

Elijah couldn't make arrangements for sustenance, but God made the arrangements for him. You may not be able to arrange your way out of some challenges, but God will make divine arrangements to bail you out.

Prayer: Lord, make divine arrangements that will keep me from being a victim, in Jesus’ name! Amen

Before Elijah went to Zarephath, God told him that He (God) had commanded a widow to sustain him. Elijah was yet to go to Zarephath, but God already made an announcement in his favour. God already spoke about Elijah in a place he was yet to arrive at. God advertised Elijah beyond the shores of Israel.

Friend, God is about to announce you in strange places; God is about to advertise you in high places; God is about to cause someone to hear about you even before seeing you; God will cause your name to be known in the nations; God will make you the toast of your generation; God is set to divinely announce your family members, career, business, ministry, etc. God will speak for you before you have a chance to speak for yourself.

Zarephath was Elijah’s future destination; so God went into Elijah’s future and announced him. God will step into your future and announce you; God will announce you to people you are yet to meet; God will give you a divine announcement and advertisement that will work for you in your future; God will cause you to be known in your future.

When God announces you, even your haters will have no option but to work in your favour; when God announces you, people who may not like to help you will have no option but to help you; when God advertises you, you will become so famous even when you have not done much; when God speaks to people about you, they will have no option but to fulfill God’s will concerning you.

Ask God to advertise you in places you have not been to; ask God to advertise you to people you have not met. Ask God for the blessing of divine announcement.

Prayer: Lord, announce me to my generation; advertise me in places I have not been to, in Jesus name! Amen

COMMANDED HELP

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture reveals that God commanded a widow to sustain Elijah in Zarephath. Elijah had not even met the widow before, she was a stranger, but she had a divine command to favour Elijah. It was a case of help arising out of strange places, but this was not help at the instance of a man, it was help that was commanded by God Himself.

Friend, God will command men to favour you. God will command strangers to come to your aid; God will command even your haters to be of help to you; God will command people you are yet to meet to favour you in your area of need; God will command people who have what you need to deliver it to you; God will cause men to favour you, even against their own plans and wishes.

When God commands a man to favour you, such a man may not ordinarily be willing to help you, but there will be a divine compulsion to favour you. When God commands a man to help you, such a man does not need to like you, but you will be favoured all the same, and heaven’s agenda for you will be fulfilled.

The woman of Zarephath was in Elijah’s future, and she had a command from God to favour Elijah. God says, there are people in your future whose job is to make you smile. Before you get to where you need them, they will be waiting for you. Before you meet them, they would already have what it takes to help you.

Ask God to command men to help you; ask God to grant you help from strange places; ask God to position men in your future to serve your destiny.

Psalm 18 vs. 43 says: “...a people whom I have not known shall serve me.”

Prayer: Lord, command men to help me; send me help from strange places; position men in my future to help me, in Jesus’ name! Amen

When Elijah released a curse upon Israel and commanded that there shall be no rain, God relocated him to Zarephath where a widow was commanded to feed him. Israel was under a curse, and God took Elijah away from the environment of that curse. God took Elijah away from the consequences of the curse upon Israel.

Friend, God is breaking you out of every curse in your environment. God is causing an immediate separation between you and every curse that was originally meant to affect you. God is disconnecting you from the effects of curses in your family, city, work place, nation, etc. As God did not allow Elijah to partake of the curse in Israel, you won’t partake of any curse around you.

People around you may all be suffering from certain health challenges, but God says, your case is different. Businesses around yours may all be suffering under the increasing economic recession, but it won't be your portion. Others may be stagnated in their careers, but it won't be your portion. Whatever territorial demon that holds sway in your locale will not hold sway over your own life.

Today, I decree that every curse over your life is broken; every curse over your family, marriage, future, career, business, etc is broken; every curse that wants to limit your progress is broken; every spoken word and every enchantment that wants to stop your destiny is overruled.

Remember, others in Israel were victims of the curse, but not Elijah. Others may suffer curses, but God says, over your life, every curse is broken.

Psalm 124 vs. 7 says: “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.”

Prayer: Lord, every curse over my life is broken, in Jesus’ name! Amen
